The Cynthia theme at 7:32 is one of the best pieces of music in a pokemon game ever. Glad to see it in this video. I remember going through the entire game without difficulty, cleaning up the gyms and elite four, and then as I'm walking along some random beach town in the post-game wishing for a harder experience, I go into this little house and... **cue dramatic piano music** Pokemon usually keeps hard battles in less exciting places so as not to alienate younger players, but it was refreshing to see an important character steamroll me with mons that were 20 or so levels ahead of me, all to the backdrop of dramatic piano music. The battle was as unusual as the music and it made for a very memorable experience.
Pokémon Sword and Shield are the best Pokémon Games in my opinion, galar is my favorite 😍 region, galar is so diverse with the wild area, mini islands in some routes, dungeons, caves, ruins and tundra in the crown tundra and I have purchased both DLC and I just love 💕 galar even more. The newer areas in galar (mainly the crown tundra) is big and I get lost pretty easily in some of the areas in the crown tundra postgame and a new town freezington and many more in the postgame and this alone makes galar the best region in Pokémon. And the crown tundra is part of the galar map and the crown tundra is part of the mainland galar and the isle of armor and the crown tundra resides in galar and galar isn’t as linear as you think it is, if there’s a Third DLC or even Pokémon Sword and Shield Sequel, I wanted to revisit kalos in the postgame because kalos is the only region to never got a Follow Up Pokémon Games, so visiting kalos in the postgame of Pokémon Sword and Shield Sequel will be great and with kalos as a postgame area, galar will be the second best region since johto because both regions are connected with another region.
Another feature Gen 5 added: unbreakable TMs. I was so grateful when those were introduced because before, once you used a TM on a Pokemon, it could only be used once unless you could buy some more. But even then if any TM could be bought, chances were that they were expensive
I was debating whether or not to include that. It really makes a difference. Every game from Gen 5 onward has a much more pleasant experience when it comes to making a team.
@@truegreen7 what about hidden abilities? Gen 5 introduced it and it has played a part in competitive battle making some pokemon more viable or better thanks to it.
@@michaellarose4913 Problem is that, unless I am terribly wrong, you could only access said abilities through a website. It may have been a good idea, but the execution wasn't as good.

Everyone hates on Kalos excessively, when it was my favorite region, and introduced 3D character customization, Feeding Pokémon, playing with Pokémon, training Pokémon with punching bags. AND DELPHOX! Though her design is strange to say the least, she’s an amazing Pokémon and I’m hoping she gets a redesign.
Alola is my favorite region, I don't get why it gets so much hate. The designs are amazing, the story is amazing, I love the z-move mechanic, Ultra Warp Ride is SO FUN, the cries are amazing, Gladion is my favorite rival (ignoring Hop), the music is FUCKING PHONOMENAL and I love that you can actually interact with npc's pokemon in some locations.
"Kanto has freedom" My mind : *it's not a time to use that* Best part of each games by me Kanto : rival is the champion Johto : everything from Kanto is back and battling your past self Hoenn : you are the hero Sinnoh : almost everything except trade evolutions Unova: the storyline Kalos : the kalos war Alola : the people you find give you a feeling of togetherness Galar : the backstories of trainers and their personality game freak take a step forward I can't really explain my love for all regions
@@notani4774 yeah even though I don't like x and y that much, I still gotta give them credit since they were the games that got me into competitive battling
It may have been lacking in difficulty, but Kalos is still aesthetically my favorite region and because of that it is the one I have replayed the most.
A Z Version with a polished Kalos would have been INCREDIBLE. The region, mechanics, and plot have a ton of potential and I hope that we'll be able to see them executed in a cleaner way sometime in the future.
My first game was Y and my second was omega ruby so I really love gen 6 games and the kalos and hoenn regions are some of my favourites. But my all time favourite games were sun and moon from the story and the characters.
Alola is my favorite region, everything looks super beautiful, loved the characters: Lillie, Gladion, Hau, Lusamine, Kukui, cool new Pokémon, Alolan forms, the totem Pokémon battles were some of the best challenges I’ve had, small things such as having to travel through dimensions to catch the ultra beasts. (also the removal of HMs) But overall is the region that looked the most beautiful to me, and will always have a special place in my heart
I agree. My favorite Pokemon is Incineroar and my sisters is primarina. Also the addition of shiny Pokémon being found more easily in ultra wormholes was great too
I 100% agree with you. It was my first generation and is literally the perfect gen in my opinion. Here are my opinions on the other gens below: Gen 1: Very bland and lacks in story. Only the music and remakes can save it. Gen 2: I haven't played any of the games yet, so I will update when I do Gen 3: Has the perfect balance in terms of difficulty. Gen 4: very chill, but quite difficult in my opinion. Gen 5: has a very good story, but very difficult as well. In fact, it's significantly more difficult than Sinnoh. Gen 6: Not a lot of story, but still good nonetheless. Megas are a cool feature, and the anime boosts the gen in terms of story. Gen 7: Literally the perfect gen. I don't care what anyone says. Gen 8: Introduced the most new features, and has the best rivals and music. Not as bad as it is being treated currently. Reply to me if you have any disagreements.
@@MariOmor1 I will say for Gen 7 is that it can be hard to replay again as it has way too much handholding (tho it is the region that got me into Pokemon and is my favorite 😁)
One of the best parts of galar in my opinion is the rivals. I love how you have a friendly(Hop), a ***hole(Bede), and regular competitive rival(Marnie). I also love how they show the stories of the rivals and how you becoming champion affected them
@person person and yet he's the only one who tries to ACTUALLY solve big problems or threats much in the series. Cynthia gives you the psyduck medicine and you have to show up and do it YOURSELF. Then guess who shows up? Apparently she's"proud" to be a champion, yet she can't be bothered to battle Cyrus herself, and instead trusts Rowan's errand boy to do it for her. Oh and did I mention if said errand boy fails, the universe probably will end? Leon on the other hand, genuinely tries to stop Eternatus, and was only not in the phases the player is involved in because he was seemingly knocked out by the blast from Eternatus breaking out of the ball. Hell, all the other Champions either do something or have a reason they werent there other than Diantha and Iris. Gen 1: Blue is the champion, and we do see him go into the rocket base for whatever reason, so he's most likely helping. Gen 2: Lance joins up with you to raid the team rocket base. Gen 3: Steven gets occasionally involved with stopping the evil team, though only occasionally. Gen 5 (BW1): Alder does battle N, he just so happens to lose. Gen 7: Kukui is the professor, so he's most likely busy with research. Cynthia does way less than how people describe it, she just stands in the back row watching everything happen. Even when the world is about to end, she decides "I'll leave it to the ten year old" and watches from the sidelines like it's a movie.

@@matthaisstupidus Yeah, that was one of my favorite parts of the story/game too! I like that the adults are actually trying to solve the problem this time, and that the protagonist just get's involved by chance becouse things get to much to handle. I think there was also great build up becouse Sonia and Leon tried so hard to keep the kids out of it, but we just keept wittnesing things that hinted just enough at something big going on! (Also, and that might just be me, but this was the only game that made me feel like becoming champion was important to our characters. The mc and even the side characters are so invested in becoming champion, it made ME want to become one xD Where as in B.a.W. the gym challenges where mostly just to stop your progress while the N story was the actually intersting part, and in Saphire I can't even remember the gyms...)
One Of The Best Things About Gen 8:DLC. WHAT WOULD A Third Version To Pokémon Sword and Shield For eternatus As The Game Mascot BE CALLED ? Pokémon Cannon or Pokémon Spear ? if it were to happened ? if The DLC Never Happens.
Just hearing him go on about Unova being the most complete genoration made me tear up, unova was my first game, my favorite genoration and has all my favorite Pokémon in it.
Even when he has a criticism he will say something like "but this is just my opinion, if you like this then that's great we can appreciate different elements of the game" - so wholesome
Kanto: Simplicity Johto: Connection to two regions Hoenn: Characters Sinnoh: Environment Unova: Story Kalos: Diversity in Pokémon species Alola: Atmoshphere Galar: Haven't played yet, but for now, the music.
Hoenn has some great characters! Specifically in omega ruby And alpha sapphire: zinnia, Archie, maxie, Courtney, professor birch, Stephen stone, Norman etc. although I believe this I Personally would switch alola and hoenns descriptions as I think alola has better characters
@Sven Maas Absolutely not the only thing. The gym challenge took the old formula and made it something much more fun, making it more like a sport (which it should be in the world of Pokémon). The DLC, whether you liked it or not, is definitely an improvement over the third versions. They basically gave you the same game with very little differences for double the price compared to the DLC. The raid battles are a fun challenge, and more importantly they are a good foundation for more multiplayer content, which Pokémon lacks. And also all the quality of life changes, which made casual Pokémon much more convenient and getting into competitive much easier. Getting to relearn your moves from basically anywhere for free and getting powerful TRs early in the game is quite nice for playthroughs. And if you are into competetive then all the little things they did to make it easier to breed and get Pokémon battle-ready are amazing. So no, the music certainly is not the only good thing.
The wild area and overworld Pokemon are definitely great parts of it too! It strikes me as a step in the right direction! It'd be super cool if the routes had a wider area with a moveable camera (kind of like the Isle of Armor)! Makes the world feel more alive
Def changing names and moves that was so easy But for me the story was kinda messy yet the characters were like gold with so many sides to look at them from I loved it yet there were kinda unused
Let me address why I kept the DLCs as a positive of GEN 8: It wasn't only THE FACT that we have DLCs that made it one of the best parts of Gen 8. (cause if I didn't enjoy Isle of Armor, which I did, then I wouldn't have placed it here) It was mostly what was INSIDE the DLCs that I liked. (and what led me to keep it in the video) It just appealed to my play style. (I understand if it didn't for you) The content within the DLCs were a step in the right direction (the exploration, the better set dressing, the additional Pokemon, the seamless wild areas), not only the fact that we have DLCs. Regardless, if you didn't like SwSh, you're not gonna like the DLCs. But I did like SwSh, so I enjoyed em. Obviously it's a controversial aspect of Gen 8 and I understand both arguments. But that's not what this video is about. The negative are for the next video and just like the non-linearity in Johto, the strengths can also be a weakness. So you never know, maybe DLCs will be in the video too.
Agreed. DLC’s are more like fries on a burger meal. The burger goes way better with the fries, but it is completely optional. I also really like the way they made everything so connected in the DLC. The fact you can’t fly means you have to go throughout tons of areas to get to your destination, which might take you somewhere else and make you catch new Pokémon. In the base game, they just connected everything with routes. And also the wild area.
@@zamzammohamed2108 This is why Gen 5 is/was hated: Garbodor, Klinklang and Vanilluxe. Which is bollocks cuz they're awesome and great in battle, and I've seen worse designs.
Honestly, I loved the story in gen 7. (Specifically ultra sun and moon) the games themselves were a little too easy (we dont talk about ultra necrozma) but the character slowly becoming the hero of the whole region is really fun to see
I actually loved the story of the original sun and moon too. Lusamine is probably the best villain in Pokemon, and I’m saying that as a gen 5 stan. Lillie and Gladion were great characters too
@@jainimaijainitai agreed, but if you want to have a lot of fun, dont do pokemon refresh but keep the exp share on. It makes the games fun but doesnt make your pokemon overleveled from all the boosted exp they get from refresh
I really love gen 5 and it doesn't deserve all the hate that it gets. They were just trying something new, to change up the typical flow of the past generations. Love your vids btw👍❤️ edit: since gen 5 doesn't get as much hate now the same thing can be said for gen 7.
I remember going into a house in Unova and talking to someone playing an instrument and they hop on the track already playing in the background and it really warmed my heart for such a small detail they really did that
I would add one good thing to Alola: Atmosphere. The games really suck you in. At least when I played Moon for the first time, I could almost feel the humid air and gentle breeze on my skin when walking trough Hau'oli city. Ties in so well with the music too.
Best of each Kanto: Simple, easy to pick up, enjoyable in most aspects. Johto: Since Johto was connected to Kanto it really improved the geography of the pokemon world. You somewhat get more closure than any other gen, doesn’t really have ancient lore like Kalos but I feel like with the story of Red and Gold make it really good. With Silver slowly getting to be a better person was also a great part Hoenn: It makes you feel like important, with Johto and Kanto you took down a villian team, in Hoenn you took down 2 teams and prevented natural distasters. Sinnoh: Sinnoh feels like a challenge more than any other game, the scenery feels so natural too. Unova: Feels somewhat like the start of a new generation and or step up for gamefreak Kalos: Feels real and better for more mature audiences, I felt like this generation didn’t treat you as a kid like some of the previous did and Galar. Alola: The characters were amazing, even minor characters have expansive personalities for side characters. Galar: I like what the rivals, Hop gives me this vibe like he seems real or someone that you can probably see in real life personality wise, Marnie was great, I really liked her character arc. Bede reminded me of Blue or Silver, they are jerks so you want to beat them.
Hops battle theme - the original, not the final battle one where he gets serious - is currently tied for my favourite pokemon theme, tied with Accumula. It perfectly shows Hops determination and his dream to overtake his brother to finally get some recognition from his parents (since all the photos on the walls are of Leon, none if Hop), yet also sums up his carefree energetic nature, and Hop as a whole becomes a much better character on a second play through.
The information and praise you presented for Generation 5 literally made me cry. It reminded me of the first time I picked up a Pokémon game, which was the Unova generation. Hearing how you mentioned that their soundtrack was the absolute best to date and the immensely story driven aspect of the game really gave me one heck of a smile. Made me experience nostalgia....
Gen 6: Kalos Power Plant Theme Edit: I know a lot of people hate X and Y for having no plot, but I don't really care. I've never played Pokémon for the plot (barring Gen 5) and mostly enjoyed being able to explore freely more than the stories of the games.
I like Pokémon games with lots of plot and gameplay, but I don’t hate them or dislike them if they don’t have a good plot I really don’t care if they don’t have the best plot or story, I only buy the games to play them and have fun, not to criticize them, so I agree with you not caring if there wasn’t really a plot in X and Y
I love x and y maybe cause it was the second pokemon game I owned but it introduced my favorite type and megas also I love how you meet the leader himself at the beginning and learn that the bad vibes you got from them earlier was correct
Best thing about each game for me Kanto- Simple! As you said, everything has to star somewhere and Kanto is the best starting point pokemon could have had. Johto- More ability to interact wit your pokémon. I wish it was kept in. Hoenn- Secret bases and weather mechanics. More overworld adaptations allow for even more immersion. Sinnoh- Only region I havent managed to play lmao. Unova- The Plot. For sure, The music, too. People seem to really love and hate this game, but I think the people who hate it are focusing way too much on the Pokemon designs and less on how FREAKING COOL this game is. Kalos- Absolutely the visuals. The game’s aesthetic is so pleasing that I’ve been tempted to re-buy the game to play it solely for that purpose. This sparks joy. Alola- The overall theme, I agree. I dunno what about this game makes it so cool, but when I see it, I get overwhelming nostalgia even though it’s not that old. I really liked the somewhat dark tones similar to Unova near the end too. Galar- I can’t believe you didn’t talk about this, but the characterization of the Rival. Hop has probably the best personality and arc of any main series pokemon rival except maybe Silver. Annoying or not, he really does feel like a close friend.
I get nostalgia for Alola too! That's so weird! And honestly, I thought all the rivals (Bede, Marnie, and Hop) were really well done. None of them are the same at the end as they were at the beginning, and the game does a great job at using music to convey personality (along with their good designs).

I like xy because of its little message about how life was too short and how we are very lucky to have it and we should appreciate it a lot more. I know a lot of people didn't like the rivals, but it's just a bunch of kids wanting to hang out with each other. I think it was supposed to remind people of childhood when they played with their friends. And when the ultimate weapon was used, it took away countless lives. We can go out as quick as we come in. I might be overthinking it but I do believe that it's giving this message which is why I love it so much.
Kanto: great pokemon, simple Johto: didn't play yet Hoenn: the Pokémon, diversity, oras Sinnoh: the region *chef kiss* the Pokémon Unova: epic Pokémon , epic story Kalos: beautiful region Alola: islands, nice mix-up, rowlet Galar: gyms, rivals, starters This isn't all tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Kanto: OG region, not the best though, simple story, BLUE, EPIC MUSIC. Johto: Good Pokémon here and there, HGSS. Hoenn: THE best region ever, AWESOME Pokémon, two evil teams, best starter trio, Zinnia, Wally in ORAS, even May was great, gym leaders were great, AWESOME music. Sinnoh: Great gym leaders, great Pokémon, CYNTHIA, new evo's, great music. Some might say Sinnoh's overrated, but its not, its my second favourite region. Unova: Its hard to find positives from Unova. There were some great Pokémon here and there. Great story, N was great. Music was decent. Kalos: First off, AWESOME ANIME. Games wise, great Pokémon here and there, majority of the mega's were awesome and like you said, the region was BEAUTIFUL. Oh yeah, AZ's story. Alola: Though I didn't like it that much, but the concept of Trials and Kahunas was fresh. Great characters like Lillie and Gladion, ULTRA NECROZMA and Vikavolt. Galar: ABSOLUTELY AWESOME POKÉMON. Cinderace could surpass Blaziken for my fave Pokémon of all time. MARNIE, THE GODDAMN GYM THEME, and even Bede and Hop. Zacian and Zamazenta are awesome. So my ranking of Pokémon region is: 1. THE BEST HOENN. 2. Sinnoh. 3. Kalos. 4. Galar. 5.Kanto. 6.Alola. 7. Unova. 8. Johto.
I think one of the most unique things in Galar are the characters, especially Leon and his integration. For example, when there are random power spots at Hammelocke, Leon steps up and stops it while the player continues, when usually, the player will always be the hero
For me the best things are (and please remember, this is all in my opinion): Gen 1: The games that started it all, although they feel really outdated compared to the rest of the games, they’re still pretty good. Gen 2: Multi regional travel, and following Pokémon were great additions. I also love how the region managed to feel like a direct sequel to Gen 1 despite being completely different games. Gen 3: I honestly can’t find much to say about Gen 3 that other games don’t have. I guess Soaring was really unique and fun, but it’s pretty much all I can think of. This doesn’t mean the Gen 3 games were bad AT ALL, in fact it’s one of my favorite regions, but I just don’t think it has much to set it apart from the others. Gen 4: Best champion in the series, and the evolutions it added to Pokémon were amazing. I also think it’s tied with gen 5 for the greatest Pokémon designs in the series. I also really loved the lore for the legendaries and mythicals of the region. Gen 5: (I have a lot to say about Gen 5, so I’ll try to condense it) Easily best story and best overall music. The region felt amazing to explore, and it had some of the best post-game content in the series. And the difficulty setting was something that should’ve been brought back. (Also Moving sprites > 3D models) Gen 6: Although I liked the moving sprites better than 3D models, the jump to 3D was a great change to the series. Not to mention the games are also just really pretty. The backstory of the region was also great and added a lot of depth to the theme of the game as a whole. Mega evolutions were also an amazing addition. Gen 7: I love the overall feel, the traditions, and uniqueness of the region. I also really loved the characters and how they interact with each other. It was also great that they finally started making new dex entries for Pokémon instead of just recycling old ones. Gen 8: I love how the league felt like a grandiose sport that’s watched by the whole region. The wild area(s) get a lot of shit, but I really loved how immersive it felt to see Pokémon roaming around in the wild.
Kanto is the least linear, you can do Gyms 3, 4, 5, 6 in any order and you can do gym 7 right after you do gym 5, making it possible that Blaine is your fourth gym badge. Only gyms 1, 2, and 8 need to be done in the correct order. Johto only breaks from linearity after gym 4 where you can choose to do gym 5, 6, or 7 in any order, but gym 8 must still be done last. How is Johto less linear than Kanto?
He was talking about the post-game, when you go back to kanto as long as you did the powerplant thing the gym challenge is taken the order you want besides Blue.
One feature I think is severely underrated, is that since gen 6 your pokemon gain experience when you catch a pokemon. This really encourages catching other pokemon, since previously catching different pokemon that you weren't gonna use was kind of a waste of time. But now you can fill out the dex while training at the same time.
One thing that I dont see many people talk about for gen 7, the different poses you can have while entering an online battle and how you threw the pokeball. So much personality, which I miss and hope it comes back
I just realized that Unova is one of the most controversial and polar regions in the community, yet while its plot is all about unity and different sides coming together. Ironic.
My opinion: Kanto: Started it all, and Magneton. Johto: The new steel type. Steel is my favorite type. Hoenn: The exploration. Sinnoh and Unova: I haven’t played them yet. Kalos: Mega Evolution and 3D graphics. Alola: Gamefreak tried a lot of new ideas. Galar: The wild area, gym challenge, and DLC.
The best part about Sinnoh to me is it’s vibrancy (especially for a pre-3DS region). Gen 3 was my introduction to Pokémon, and let me just say that made Sinnoh look that much more colorful to my eyes. I was blown away by how saturated and bright a lot of the characters and landscapes were, how memorable and catchy most of the music was. I’ve heard some people argue that all the color makes the region and designs seem plastic and unnatural, but that’s part of it’s charm I’m my opinion.
How could you forget the fact unova made tms reusable. It made me actually want to use them instead of hoarding them in my bag out of fear that I would never see them again.
TMs breaking made me think more critically for what pokémon could utilise a TM the most. For instance, if I had a focus blast TM, and I had to make a choice between giving it to my Togekiss or my Kadabra, the discarding nature made me think who to give it to specifically. (context: Pokémon Platinum Elite 4) Now that TMs are reusable, I could sweep the early game with the Return TM at the start of BW 2, and the same pattern persisted to later parts of the game where I could swap out TMs with ease, which gave me the feeling that I was cheating. I'm a guy who likes challenge and critical thinking, so this new feature kind of dumbed down the game for me personally.
Gen 6 & 7 are the worst imo. 6 I didn't like enough to remember anything besides a handful of pokemon. And 7 I only remember because how long of a slog it was with designs I mostly disliked (the story was good, just too slowly paced)
@@rickw9291 Probably means how Gen 8 has Dexit, and other things like how the story skips like 3 narrative beats, while Gen 1 has broken mechanics and lacks a real story outside of "beat gyms and anyone who stands in your way". That's my guess anyways hahaha
In my opinion, the best thing about Kanto was the science and mystery. I remember in let’s go exploring cinnabar island and finding the scattered papers and abandoned lab with broken containers and getting shivers down my spine.
Secret Bases/Underground and Contests were one of my favourite things in Hoenn and Sinnoh! I really hope they bring them back in new regions and not just a supposed Sinnoh Remake because they were really fun features imo

When you make every problem each generation had I genuinely think Unova will have the lowest problems out of all of these games. Easily the most complete and polished generation that had two games and refined the previous game in the direct sequel. While galar will have the most issues, some not intentional and others very intentional.

God, every time I click on your video my ears are always treated to an amazing audial gift! The audio quality to your videos are bar none the BEST! Obviously your video content itself is amazing, but that audio quality is just spectacular!
I literally remember the name of every city, gym leaders etc of the kanto region and I'm 100% confident I can draw the map blind folded as well as summarise the entire plot. It was truly the gem of my time. Besides red, I don't remember any even though I played till ultra sun and moon.
The DexNav in ORAS is a non intrusive yet incredibly useful tool that makes excellent use of the bottom screen and is a handy asset in gameplay. Seeing how many Pokemon in a route you’ve yet to catch or being able to see stats of Pokemon shaking in the grass or water, it makes ORAS a lot more fun.

Unova had the best plot. And it balanced perfectly with the gameplay. I could still have places to explore, while not being stopped every 5 feet for a horribly long cutscene.
I really mostly enjoyed gen 7,while it may not be the greatest Pokémon game ever I do enjoy very much. Regional variants of Pokémon, a new change from battling gym leaders to challenging totem Pokémon, the storyline with Lillie and Lusamine and Necrozma(not to mentioned the post game in USUM with team Rainbow Rocket).and lastly just all the Pokémon overall plus I may just noticed this. But with Lunala,Solegeo,Necrozma, the Mythical, the Tapu's and Ultra beast, they're are more legendaries(not also including the ones in the ultra wormhole) than any other generation game which is crazy.
Kanto: The first games ANYONE should play, uniqueness, and your trash rival. Johto: Major improvements from Red & Blue, full PokeDex, and the mythological aspects. Hoenn: The region itself (the region itself is my favorite even if the games aren’t my favorite), the ability/nature system, and double battles. Sinnoh: The region itself (again), the story, and the cool legendaries. Unova: THE STORY, the new Pokémon (I love almost all of them), and the new sprites (prefer these over the 3d models in the next games.) Kalos: The new Pokémon, the story, and the Mega Evolution designs (not the concept itself). Alola: The consistent theme, regional forms, and the story. Galar: The region design (don’t @ me), the gym leaders, and the new Pokémon.
15:08 ".... if silent" Me, looking at that Piers battle intro stuff and most things with Piers. Mmmm.... Yeah, silent for sure. It's a thing that can turn on its head really quick, because more than ever the lack of voice acting really shows through 15:10 Competitive isn't 140% accessible, because, while breeding and stuff is easy, online tings are completely inaccessible to people like me because getting online requires that you pay extra, and I'm not one of those people who can really do that Anyway, personally I just gotta love Sinnoh and Unova for the variety of different things to do. Kalos is the prettiest and most Aesthetic to me and I'd give props to it for being the first generation with 3D models etc. It really pushed to do stuff, along with Unova, those two are innovation and 'an attempt was made' centrals to me
Another thing I really like from johto is the ui in hgss. It’s honestly probably my favorite. They used the touchscreen beautifully imo, allowing you to access your full menu from the touchscreen and shift your Pokémon around just by clicking and dragging something missing in sinnoh, you can toggle the running shoes on if you don’t want to be holding b the whole time, and allowed a second register item.
Kanto-I found the lore here absolutely fascinating. It’s presented as part of the world rather than part of the plot, which is probably why it’s so fascinating. Piecing together your own vision based on what you learn about Team Rocket and Mewtwo really is quite thrilling, as it inspires the imagination in a way that doesn’t confine it. (I was incredibly sad about what happened to Cinnabar Island and Lavender Town as of the Johto era, though.) Johto-The setting is marvelous, and the mystical quality of the region is superb. Again with the lore being fascinating. I feel like the way you interact with the legendaries makes them come across as being more lively and with their own thoughts and opinions, which helps with immersion. The pacing felt incredibly relaxed, allowing for better immersion into the lore and the setting. That was very nice. Also, the introduction of things like Pokémon breeding and Shiny Pokémon was a lot of fun! (I was sad they left Kris out of the remakes; she was my favorite.) Hoenn-I’ll have to come back to this because it’s going to be rather lengthy. Sinnoh-Getting stuck in the environment was annoying, but I did really like how there was more to the natural setting than just water, grass, and rocks. The lore is also 10/10, and it has some of the best legendaries (story-wise) and locations. Unova-While you’re playing it, the locations can be pretty dynamic! I loved the seasons mechanic, and it was such a shame they abandoned it. The antagonists (specifically Ghetsis) are very memorable, and the main rivals (I include N in this group… as the primary rival, actually) have a good amount of personality that makes them stand out. Kalos-PokémonAmie was so much fun. I adored the opportunity to bond with my Torchic right off the bat. I enjoyed the Lumiose Museum, and the Trainer Customization was absolutely thrilling. I enjoyed the customization quite a bit. Mega Evolution is also a really good mechanic, and it was the first time where event Pokémon really became accessible and no longer frustratingly exclusive. Ditto re: trade evolutions. Alola-MAN did I love the story. I find it to actually be the most captivating in the entire core franchise, to be honest. The design of Team Skull is great, but once you really start getting into the plot, oh man… boy, do you really actually care about what’s going on, and it’s not so simple as “defeat the Team bad guy to stop them from harnessing legendary Pokémon” due to what Team Skull’s motivations are and what role they REALLY play in the story. I found that as far as characters go, they were the most realistic and that really makes them stand out and makes the audience care. Guzma’s character arc is one of the best in the series, in my opinion. Galar-I haven’t played this game, so officially I have no opinion on it. Hoenn-This region means a very great deal to me personally due to the context of its original release. The fact that you have a father in this game-a father who is proud of you-is so, so incredibly wonderful and really sets it apart from the rest of the franchise. The presence of two teams (and how they interacted with each other as well as the player) also makes it more interesting. The weather effects, Secret Bases, and overall environmental interaction is such a huge plus. Playing this game really makes just walking around all the different locations and environments very enjoyable; the museums and underwater portions really add to this. The introduction of Soaring really took it all to a whole new level, and I thought it was fantastic! This is the one region where I can find enjoyment in the postgame just in walking around the environment, because it has so much to offer. My favorite Pokémon is from this game, and most of the ones I liked to use in battle came from this region (though Krookodile and Mudsdale disrupted Flygon as better choices, and then Golisopod was an unexpectedly absolute beast). Golden Sun: The Lost Age is my favorite game of all time, but for a long time, Pokémon Sapphire Version was my favorite-and it is still a pretty close second to this day. I love this region, and the accessibility to all the legendaries (not just for this region, but in general) from the remakes really made it feel like the most inclusive experience. I absolutely love this region, and it will probably always be my favorite; I’ll have to stop there because I could literally spend hours writing about how much I love this region.
You are a human and nostagia type. 4x damage You have the Hoarding ability, which forces you to buy every Pokemon game ever exist 1,5x damage Gamefreak has stab bonus from being greedy corporation type. 1,5x damage Gamefreak holds the Extra Copy charm, which forces player to pay double for one game. 2x damage You have to stay at home due to the pandemic. Harshly reduce evasiveness.
Truegreen7, u forgot to mentioned that Unova also has TM's being unlimited, the introduction of Triple or Rotation Battles were also an positive, the new Pokemons are great & hidden abilities.
I’ve never felt the DLC should’ve been in the base version. The base feels complete. I played it and didn’t need anything more. I play that game the same way I’ve played every other Pokémon game, which means hundred of hours. Then the DLC came out and I managed to play even more (not that I’d stopped in the first place). It was a massive step up from a third version, half the price, with just as much content. Sure Emerald, Platnium, and the Ultras are great. But the DLC shines as an improvement over the third version. No longer forcing you to replay a slightly modified game with different Pokémon. You can now play a brand new area, with its own story, characters and Pokémon. It can either extend your original journey, or if you really want, make a new adventure entirely fresh. It allows options on how to play the game like no other expansion ever has. It’s incredibly enjoyable and I agree it’s a massive strength of Gen 8. (Plus I remember when the announced the Ultra and everyone said just do DLC. Well for once they listened, why the backlash?)
This is pretty late, but I love your ability to see the good in every generation. I've been liking each generation less as more are made, but you've made me look at the later ones in a new, and better, light. Thanks for that!
Two things Kalos introduced that were great! Protagonists with goals other than champion or professor. Trevor and Tierno indicated that kids could have other aspirations in this world. Tonally unique postgames. Until now, the postgames were pretty much just story extensions, but Delta Episode and the Looker missions were fantastic new experiences
Ok, i would be lying to myself if i told otherwise. the XY, XY Kalos Quest and specially XYZ are THE BEST PART OF THE ANIME! Kanto's freedom is one of its better parts & one that's very underrated.
**cue dramatic piano music**
Pokemon usually keeps hard battles in less exciting places so as not to alienate younger players, but it was refreshing to see an important character steamroll me with mons that were 20 or so levels ahead of me, all to the backdrop of dramatic piano music. The battle was as unusual as the music and it made for a very memorable experience.

Also the addition of shiny Pokémon being found more easily in ultra wormholes was great too
I pretty much agree with all of this. Plus Alola also introduced my absolute favorite Starter Pokémon, Primarina ^^
I 100% agree with you. It was my first generation and is literally the perfect gen in my opinion. Here are my opinions on the other gens below:
Gen 1: Very bland and lacks in story. Only the music and remakes can save it.
Gen 2: I haven't played any of the games yet, so I will update when I do
Gen 3: Has the perfect balance in terms of difficulty.

Etheralus people love to hate on galar because of the dex cut & an animation you see for half a second
The wild area and overworld Pokemon are definitely great parts of it too! It strikes me as a step in the right direction! It'd be super cool if the routes had a wider area with a moveable camera (kind of like the Isle of Armor)! Makes the world feel more alive
The best part of galar was all of the things that got easier to acess, changing names, remembering moves, galar is great

Truegreen7 it is fine I understand that makes the most sense
Also I agree

And also the wild area.
with the amount of hate gen 5 got (i personally liked it) but you CAN'T DENY that the gen 5 games had the sickest music

Best of each
Kanto: Simple, easy to pick up, enjoyable in most aspects.
Johto: Since Johto was connected to Kanto it really improved the geography of the pokemon world. You somewhat get more closure than any other gen, doesn’t really have ancient lore like Kalos but I feel like with the story of Red and Gold make it really good. With Silver slowly getting to be a better person was also a great part
Hoenn: It makes you feel like important, with Johto and Kanto you took down a villian team, in Hoenn you took down 2 teams and prevented natural distasters.
Sinnoh: Sinnoh feels like a challenge more than any other game, the scenery feels so natural too.
Unova: Feels somewhat like the start of a new generation and or step up for gamefreak
Kalos: Feels real and better for more mature audiences, I felt like this generation didn’t treat you as a kid like some of the previous did and Galar.
Best part of Gen 8: *THE GYM MUSIC*
(cheering intensifies)
The gym music and Hop's theme are the only songs I select at the Battle Tower, they slap.

Gen 6: Kalos Power Plant Theme
Edit: I know a lot of people hate X and Y for having no plot, but I don't really care. I've never played Pokémon for the plot (barring Gen 5) and mostly enjoyed being able to explore freely more than the stories of the games.
I've never play x and y but sometimes I feel like the hate is a bit much
you have spoken the very truth
edit: thank you kind stranger
I like Pokémon games with lots of plot and gameplay, but I don’t hate them or dislike them if they don’t have a good plot I really don’t care if they don’t have the best plot or story, I only buy the games to play them and have fun, not to criticize them, so I agree with you not caring if there wasn’t really a plot in X and Y
I love the music from kalos.
I love x and y maybe cause it was the second pokemon game I owned but it introduced my favorite type and megas also I love how you meet the leader himself at the beginning and learn that the bad vibes you got from them earlier was correct
"They all have dreams and aspirations outside from being _the very best_ "

Little sus that you are talking about ash considering what your powers are
If only more people saw Unova like we do. There are so many things about it that I love that it's hard to choose my favorite out of all of them.
Best thing about each game for me
Kanto- Simple!
None of them are the same at the end as they were at the beginning, and the game does a great job at using music to convey personality (along with their good designs).
i couldnt agree more about hop; i literally love him SO much and i feel horrible for crushing him so hard because he’s just so nice and fun 😭😭

Plus all of the gen 6 pokemon were pretty solid. There were very few that I didn't like.
Yeah. I agree. It has the best Dex of Pokemon in the series, only beaten by Galar games; including the DLC pack. Wish the game itself was better though.

Jhoto - You can walk with your Pokemon, the post-game

Sinnoh - Great myths and story, the underground feature, pianos
Unova (my fave) - The friggin' story plot, the music, the new animations (yes TG7 had said it already .-.), the Tao Trio
Kalos - The mega evo. features, awesome 3D sprites and animations
Alola - The fact that they don't have Gym battle and instead have fun "challenges", the "antagonists" especially Guzma 😂 and Ultra Beast I feel like they made the game mysterious and mysterious is one of favorite things about life

This is an amazing video. I think all of the things Ron pointed are 95-99% universally accepted, and that goes to show how a potentially opinion-driven video can still unify the viewers/community in an healthy agreement.

Kalos: First off, AWESOME ANIME. Games wise, great Pokémon here and there, majority of the mega's were awesome and like you said, the region was BEAUTIFUL. Oh yeah, AZ's story.

Gen 8. Simple. Graphics
SwSh has the best graphics
For me the best things are (and please remember, this is all in my opinion):
Gen 1: The games that started it all, although they feel really outdated compared to the rest of the games, they’re still pretty good.
(Also Moving sprites > 3D models)
Gen 6: Although I liked the moving sprites better than 3D models, the jump to 3D was a great change to the series.
100% agree about Gen 8! The wild area is probably my favorite part of the game!

He was talking about the post-game, when you go back to kanto as long as you did the powerplant thing the gym challenge is taken the order you want besides Blue.

i did gym 6 after gym 3 in hgss and it was hell
One feature I think is severely underrated, is that since gen 6 your pokemon gain experience when you catch a pokemon.
This really encourages catching other pokemon, since previously catching different pokemon that you weren't gonna use was kind of a waste of time. But now you can fill out the dex while training at the same time.

Omg u havent played the 2 best gen...
I agree that the Gen 8 soundtrack enhanced the gameplay experienced. My favorite part was whenever Piers sang.
Ah, a new Truegreen7 video! Now I can sit back and relax, watching it...
(context: Pokémon Platinum Elite 4)
Now that TMs are reusable, I could sweep the early game with the Return TM at the start of BW 2, and the same pattern persisted to later parts of the game where I could swap out TMs with ease, which gave me the feeling that I was cheating. I'm a guy who likes challenge and critical thinking, so this new feature kind of dumbed down the game for me personally.
My favourite gen of pokemon is gen 5. Also, fun situation - I many times got lost in this routes. And I think it's cool!
I like how unbiased and fair you were to every gen in this.
Dunno if Unown's sidelooking at 0:30 was intentional or not, but that was brilliant.

Gen 8 & 1: *nervous laughter*
Wym, they all have faults
Gen 6 & 7 are the worst imo. 6 I didn't like enough to remember anything besides a handful of pokemon. And 7 I only remember because how long of a slog it was with designs I mostly disliked (the story was good, just too slowly paced)
@@rickw9291 Probably means how Gen 8 has Dexit, and other things like how the story skips like 3 narrative beats, while Gen 1 has broken mechanics and lacks a real story outside of "beat gyms and anyone who stands in your way". That's my guess anyways hahaha

FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT KALOS!!! I HAVE WAITED 7 YEARS FOR THIS MOMENT

One thing I love about Unova is that every city has a different theme.
Hey you should do a video where you design your own starter trio for a new pokemon region
August 29!
Truegreen7 HYPE! Also, check out what the Subjectively youtube channel is doing with Pokémon right now, you’re sure to love it

I literally remember the name of every city, gym leaders etc of the kanto region and I'm 100% confident I can draw the map blind folded as well as summarise the entire plot. It was truly the gem of my time. Besides red, I don't remember any even though I played till ultra sun and moon.
Ron: Alola had many alchemical references. So people who love to theorize can have fun.
Toby & Lockstin: !!!YYYEEESSS!!
For Gen 8, how most of the Pokémon fit in really well with the British/English Theme, you see a reason that those specific Pokémon are there
Pokémon Sword and Shield are the best Pokémon Games in my opinion, galar is my favorite 😍 region, galar is so diverse with the wild area, mini islands in some routes, dungeons, caves, ruins and tundra in the crown tundra and I have purchased both DLC and I just love 💕 galar even more.
Unova: THE STORY, the new Pokémon (I love almost all of them), and the new sprites (prefer these over the 3d models in the next games.)
Kalos: The new Pokémon, the story, and the Mega Evolution designs (not the concept itself).
It's a thing that can turn on its head really quick, because more than ever the lack of voice acting really shows through
15:10 Competitive isn't 140% accessible, because, while breeding and stuff is easy, online tings are completely inaccessible to people like me because getting online requires that you pay extra, and I'm not one of those people who can really do that
Anyway, personally I just gotta love Sinnoh and Unova for the variety of different things to do.
Personally, id prefer a linear game with a good story than something with “freedom” but crappy story
same xD
Kanto-I found the lore here absolutely fascinating. It’s presented as part of the world rather than part of the plot, which is probably why it’s so fascinating. Piecing together your own vision based on what you learn about Team Rocket and Mewtwo really is quite thrilling, as it inspires the imagination in a way that doesn’t confine it. (I was incredibly sad about what happened to Cinnabar Island and Lavender Town as of the Johto era, though.)
Johto-The setting is marvelous, and the mystical quality of the region is superb. (I was sad they left Kris out of the remakes; she was my favorite.)
Hoenn-I’ll have to come back to this because it’s going to be rather lengthy.

Truegreen7, u forgot to mentioned that Unova also has TM's being unlimited, the introduction of Triple or Rotation Battles were also an positive, the new Pokemons are great & hidden abilities.
you can still acces gen 4 and 5 events with dns exploits. It's so great that you can experience these old events.
Johto and Sinnouh regions are still my 2 favorite pokemon ganes to play through.
Sun and Moon had the greatest plot imo
Two things Kalos introduced that were great!
Protagonists with goals other than champion or professor. Trevor and Tierno indicated that kids could have other aspirations in this world.
Tonally unique postgames. Until now, the postgames were pretty much just story extensions, but Delta Episode and the Looker missions were fantastic new experiences
Best part of kalos: the anime
Yeah wait what?
And megas
Ok, i would be lying to myself if i told otherwise. the XY, XY Kalos Quest and specially XYZ are THE BEST PART OF THE ANIME! It was the most mature season, with the most competent Ash, most character development, ASH-GRENINJA EXISTS, Alain, some of the best battles in the anime, Team Flare and Zygarde got a new deep dive in plot, Bonnie's "Squishy" mystery if you don't know Zygarde, ASH-GRENINJA EXISTS, the final battle against that rock zygarde, Mega evolution, Korrina being actually very charismatic, Sawyer, ASH-GRENINJA EXISTS, and on, and on, AND ON!
