When I was talking about Rillaboom and said "It's execution in battle isn't the best" I was talking about its model... you know... cause this video is about design. (As in the pose doesn't showcase its design in the best light) Obviously Rillaboom is good at competitive battle.
yeah
I totally agree with Dragapult's placing on the list and it even gets a boost from me for having the dragon type which is my favorite type.
Appletun is my favorite pokemon what I want In a pokemon is that its hugable but also strong mons like goodra dragonite and appletun are awesome
Tbh I am a huge fan of Rillaboom playing a taiko drum in battle. Sure it could have it’s knuckles on the ground, but I think they nailed the execution given what the gimmick of the evo line is
I was super upsetted by you saying the pokémon I hate the most out of all 1000 designs, Hisuian Decidueye. 🤢
Describing Rowlett as "superior roundness" is just perfect.
To everyone who receives this, you are loved and things will be ok, never give up, don’t lose hope, keep going in life, you are loved always. ❤
Snom is perfect
“Ding! Ding! Ding!”
superior roundness is the new curvy...
As nostalgic as I am for the early gens, I've always prefered lot of the design from the newer gens. I think that's mainly because they started making more pokemon that fit into the specific regions they're from, like all the tropical mons in Alola!
And the inspirations are more complex, just watch Lockstin's video on orbeetle's origins!
I'm with you completely
I’m evil because I like modern designs but I really dislike the push to being so directly based on specific places in the real world
I feel the same. The Galarian pokemon are so well designed in relation to where it was based from
@@thecod2345 Idk about that since many of the inspirations are far from a furry like drednaw, applin, copperajah, etc. Although I am with you on the fact that we have been getting more furries, specially with the starters, truly sad on that one.
So, so happy for the Chandelure love!! My first generation was Unova, and so I’m super attached to the Litwik line due to them being heavy-hitters in my old fire/ghost/psychic deck.
It's my favorite line/pokemon, so I'm right there with you!
Chandelure, cofagrigus and runerigrigus are some of my favorite ghost Mon.
Chandelure is such an amazing design and haxorus is my favorite dragon type gen 5 is perfect man.
Ayyyy! Chandelure appreciation! :)
Lol, definitely. I've used a Chandelure in every generation
I chuckled when you said that most people are salty about the fact that Samurott isn't standing up.
While here I am, sick of the fact that 99% of the starters all have bipedal final evos. I want more quadrupedal starter evo finals.
Yeah and especially Samurott. Otters can’t really stand up for long periods
Yeah, it's a joke seeing everyone get worked up about bipedal starters when they turn on samurott for being quadripede, it's like it's impossible to please the pokemon community nowadays.
I personally don't mind bipedal starters if they are done right, like Quaquaval is my favorite water type ( ik birds are already bipedal but still)
@14:10 one very subtle thing about Alolan Ninetales that I love is how light the lineart is. It's actually a very light gray instead of jet black; that attention to detail is just so impressive.
I wouldn't describe it as attention to detail, more like a very good artistic decision, it makes Ninetales feel light and ethereal. But yea, I do agree with your point.
Regarding Gen 5’s honorable mentions, despite all the controversy Samurott gets, I always love it. Vannilite’s line gets a lot of hate, but I love them all. Cute ice cream cones made of snow. Bisharp is badass and love using one alongside Greninja, and Gotharita is the one member of the Gothita line i like the most since it’s more appealing and less weird
I love Vanillite and it's evolutions because it looks like ice cream and I love ice cream I wonder why some people don't like it.
Ironic that Samurott is despised for not standing up when Sprigatitto would be shredded to pieces if it did
@@finiraelkhami8251 Samurott probably not that disliked anymore because of the Hisuian version.
@@finiraelkhami8251 the line starts as bipedal and evolves into a bipedal creature then it becomes quadruped out of no where so you can’t really blame people who hate it
@@nazeersadek6705 Ah right fair point. It's like a reverse Incineroar
I feel like Frosmoth deserved a mention. It's every bit as elegant and powerful-looking as Volcorona, the perfect complement to it.
"Snom is perfect"
You can't argue with that statement
Agreed 😂
Thanks, Ron. Because of you, Zekrom and Reshiram have become even cooler than before, to me that is. This is the main reason I love your videos: I get to learn something new every week, be it creativity or knowledge. Please continue the good work, mate.
The only detail missing is that they are literally the Ying & Yang Pokémon, their Japanese Pokémon entries even confirm this. Is a shame that that fact was omitted of the English versions. Both have been cool to me since their reveal :)
To everyone who receives this, you are loved and things will be ok, never give up, don’t lose hope, keep going in life, you are loved always. ❤
Mimikyu was such a well executed concept, it was in the top three Pokemon google thing a while back being the latest gen Pokemon in the top 10. And it was number 3. That really says something.
kinda bummed ribombee wasn’t mentioned. in my opinion, all four of alola’s fully evolved bugs are fantastic
Ribombee was on my team for a while in hat game had no health but damn did it hit hard
Even though I don't have much attachment to Gen 6, I must admit: Gen 6 has, hands down, the BEST fossil Pokémon by a landslide. I was shocked to see Aurorus not even getting a honorable mention.
THANK YOU OMG SHE DESERVES IT
Nice to see that high spot for Noivern. It's one of those designs I feel nails the 'cool but cute' medley. The tufts of fur give it a friendly, lovable quality while its dark colors and jagged shapes make it look more intimidating, and its face has the quality of being able to look both cheerful and mean just by changing its body language.
Golisipod was impressive to me from the first time I saw it. Not cute, but I think it's good to have some Pokemon that truly look intimidating and even scary to give you some scarier opponents to battle. Cute and majestic are nice, but can lack that on-edge quality if that's all you have.
The thing I think makes Zoroark's Hisuian variant so cool is its stance. It might not look great if it were just standing up, but that crazed stance with the hair flowing over its head at a wild angle gives it a serious amount of personality.
Corviknight is such a great execution of a concept that easily could have turned out far less cool. I'm glad they were willing to let it look scary despite its friendly societal role and its position as the early common regional bird, which you might expect to look more friendly.
It was a pleasant surprise seeing you bring up Serperior.
When you did I was just waiting for you to bring up it's leafy hands. Still can't believe there are a lot of people who didn't know they were hands.
EDIT: Also "Contrary to popular belief." I see what you did there
Sylveon (obviously) is my favorite Eeveeultion and Pokémon. Not only it’s pretty, but I also have some attachment to it since back when my first mini deck of Pokémon cards were stolen or lost, my mom got a Sylveon deck to start to rebuild it.
Gen 6 through 8 have some of the best designs in the series. It really shows it's better to have quality over quantity and I agree with a lot of your picks.
Im surprised that you did not mention Aegislash, Dhelmise, Perrserker and Frosmoth but you cant put all of them in a video.
Im looking forward to the new designs in Gen IX. The starters definitly gave me hope for the rest of the new mons.
I do agree with most of the list yet… 5:12 Samurott isn’t an otter. It’s a sea lion. It was confirmed in an interview where Yusuke Ohmura visited the aquarium to find out a good design for Samurott and got inspired by sea lions, even their strength which represents Samurott’s samurai origin and disposition.
He said he incorporated the body shape of a sea lion into the otter. It’s an otter, but with the shape of a sea lion. A cat with the body of a human is still based on a cat. (And is a cat)
Also, look at pictures or videos of giant river otters. Those look a lot more like Samurott than any sea lion I've seen. And even if you're going act like it IS a sea lion, remember, Pokemon are allowed to be based in multiple creatures, and this guy is a perfect example. Not to mention, it's not the only water starter with different inspirations.
It's a Sea Liotter
@@truegreen7 well if a completely human looking guy told you they were a cat and science confirmed it would you call that guy a cat?
@@truegreen7 Yeah, my bad. I read the translation of the interview saying it was inspired by sea lions, but wasn’t aware that it wasn’t the main basis of it.
I get what you mean as there are many Pokémon with multiple inspirations, or one that has the main theme and a secondary theme (like Incineroar and Toxtricity).
Interesting to see Talonflame not make the cut for Gen 6, but good picks all around
Amazing Lists although I wish Torracat was mentioned at least in the honourable mentions as I believe it to be an amazing Pokemon for a pet but also a confident and determined fighter who wants to protect you and it's friends. It's colourscheme fits it's typing well; it's appealing to look at (Also red and black is my favourite colour combination) and it's fire ball collar and beautiful golden eyes make it feel so majestic
Same and especially it's shiny form, it's probably the best shiny starter out of all them.
This. Litten and Torracat had so much potential, and then they got ruined by incineroar. I really hope sprigatito doesn't fall prey to the same fate
@@J75Pootle I mean Incineroar in time I actually like it now, the whole heel wrestler motif is what I got why they made him that way. But yeah I wouldn't mind Gamefreak make it that Sprigatito evolve on all 4's, even if the design is bad it HAS to stay on all 4's.
And then incineroar
@@J75Pootle hey incineroar was really cool
I actually like Alolan Marowak 10x more than Kantonian Marowak. It's normal form always looked too plain to me but it's Alolan Form is awesome! It's also a win when it has my 2 favorite Types. Fire and Ghost so it's a win win! 🔥🦴
Same I personally love Alolan Sandslash, way more cooler (pun intented) than Kantonian Sandslash. Yeah it has a 4x weakest to fire and fight but even so I just couldn't get enough just how amazing it is!
Same! Ghost is my favorite type so I’m a little biased though. I’m having such a tough time choosing between Alolan Marowak and Chandelure for my favorite Ghost/Fire type. My only gripe with it’s design is it’s flame color should have changed with its shiny. I would have absolutely died of happiness if they gave it blue flames.
@@BlastHeart96 I actually love them both! 🔥👻
@@akilcharles3473 i agree that anime scene when it evolves into sandslash and gives a badass look is one of the *coolest* thing in Pokemon.
I love these designs my favorite designs are Serperior, Snivy, Fennekin, Greninja , Primarina, Rowlet, Decidueye, the alolan forms, Wooloo, Scorbunny, Cinderace, Grookey, Sobble, Zacian, Zamazenta and the hisiuian forms I love like Zorua, Zoroark, hisuian decidueye, hisuian samurott, hisuian typhlosion, Goodra, Lilligant, Kleavor, Growlithe, Arcanine, Wyrdeer and Basculegion. The designs are so cool and some are really pretty.
Man, I gotta say, the designs are a big factor as to why Ghost is my favorite Type. They consistently intrigue me in every generation.
And they’re pretty useful in battle being immune to the most common types: Normal and Fighting.
This man has such a way with his words.
I would've put Lurantis on the list. I love its fabulous pantsuit!
Are you kidding me right now? I get that my two favourites of Klinklang and Cryogonal are too specific to appeal to many, but HOW in the HECK is Lurantis nowhere to be found in this video? You even included Crabrawler of all things in the Honorable Mentions, so where the heck is the absolute beauty that is Lurantis???
I concur, I think Crabrawler is one of the worst designs. The design just seems off "a crab with punching gloves", the color scheme does not work based on its type, and to me it just looks way too cartoony. Fomantis/Lurantis totally spot on 👌.
Decidueye and Salazzle made it to the list, I am satisfied. Pallosand at least deserved a mention though.
I personally love Dragapult so much, instantly became one of my favorite Pokémon ever and I think deserves GOAT status
I definitely agree with Gogoat and it just makes me sad it literally hasn't gotten anything since the beginning of XY hype.
Alola probably has the best designs in all of Pokemon. And that's to said since it's my favorite region, tho I think some others that weren't mentioned on this list(even as honorable mentions) should be here. Such as the entire Litten line Litten is so cute and adorable even in its shiny form so to as Torracat, and as for Incineroar like many I was off put by it even when it stand on 2 legs but after a while I grown to appreciate it a lot. Others such as Wishiwashi,Alolan Sandslash,Lurantis,Pyukumuku and Oranguru I have also love given about their desgins and what they're base on. Same goes for the UB such as Celesteela and Kartana, like how Celesteela is based on a Japanese story of a maiden which I find to be pretty amazing. I just love everything in Alola and Pokemon in general.
Couldn't agree more!
Lmao
I can't believe people can talk about gen 7 designs without mentioning ultra necrozma
Love that my dude Hawlucha made the Top 10, SUCH an underrated Pokémon!
Oh, my boy Tyrantrum. The best design of all. The reference to feathers is a nice touch. Even though the evidences point out that Tyrannosaurus itself didn't have feathers in the adult stage, some of its cousins did have.
I’m glad he acknowledged that Snom is perfect.
Not in its design but its animations, when torracat lunges at it’s enemy, it’s eyes always stay trained on the enemy even with it’s head raised or when it is jumping. Really gives it a predator feel.
Torracat is one of my favorite designs ever. Shame its' evolution is awful!
WE DON'T USE THE WORD ITS AS A PRONOUN IF THERE'S AN APOSTROPHE IN IT!
I really think you should make a Rotom/Regi/Castform for every type video. I think it has a lot of interpretations and basing it on the cultures on Gen 9 would be interesting. I just really want to see this explored. Love your art! :)
The channel Gnoggin has made both rotom and castform of every type. And if you like Ron's region he created, Gnoggin has done the same thing and is planning on making it into an actual game
Chandelure is my favorite Pokémon of all times and I don’t know if it will ever be dethroned.
I personally think Lycanroc midnight deserved to be on the Alolan list not honorable mentions but maybe that’s just me
Wait people have problems with Samurott NOT standing up? I thought everyone was tired of starters that stand by final evolution, at least for fire starters. Idk I prefer quadruped Pokémon so I’m not a huge fan of standing starters. I mean I picked Venosaur, Chilorita, Swampert and Torterra in the generations before and Samurott in B&W, as well as preferring Dialga way more than Palkia for the same reasons, so I might be biased but still we need more starters that stay on four legs especially bc the last 3 gens have none unless you include Primarina, but it doesn’t even have legs let alone 4.
I love that there where Bug types in all of the tier lists. It shows how underrated they are.
If only Incineroar made the honorable mentions, it’s my favorite Pokémon
I've only watched gen 5 so far but my favorites from gen 5 are:
1 Samurott
2 Hydreigon
3 Excadrill
4 Zekrom
5 Bisharp
6 Elecrtross
7 Haxorus
8 Braviary
9 Golurk
10 Trubish
Honorable mentions go to Gigalith, crookodile, galvantular and cobalion
(Probably misspelled alot of names… oh well lol)
EELEKTROS, NOT ELECRTROSS! THERE SHOULD BE 2 B'S IN TRUBBISH! GALVANTULA DOES NOT END WITH AN R! AND KROOKODILE DOES NOT START WITH A C, IT STARTS WITH A K!
Awesome
Excadrill underrated
I’m really glad Chandelure made it to the top 5 in Unova. The Litwick line is one of my favorite lines, especially after using it during my first sword play-through. The whole line is really cute in my opinion, and it’s a really good pokemon in battle, especially when it fully evolves to Chandelure. Plus I love ghost types and I was always fascinated by Litwick’s concept of it using its flames to take away the life energy. Even if it creeps a lot of people out.
Kinda sad Silvally didn’t make the Gen 7 list I think he’s got a really cool and interesting design
Yeah. I think it should've at least been an honorable mention. It being a chimera that was made to imitate Arceus is so intriguing.
I love how i always seem to love every mentioned (and explained) Pokemon even more after watching your videos. You make Pokemon even more enjoyable for me!😄
your videos are just SO well-produced, they're fantastic :) thank you!!
I can't wait for the best Pokemon designs of every generation (9-12)!
super impressed that over the course of two videos you have made me realise that though many of the pokemon designs initially look a little naff, there is a great deal of thought that goes into their overall aesthetic. great vids, going to subscribe.
Amazing video as always and i agree with all of them
Keep up the good work
yes someone else who loves unova’s starters!!! The whole region has some of my favorite Pokémon 😫
Always so happy to see a new vid from you, Ron!
Superior is my number 1 favorite starter ever so seeing it in number 2 makes me so happy
Not having Zeraora on the Gen 7 list I think its a missed opportunity. But oh well its #1 in my book
I love Appletun. Its walk animation is adorable.
For a moment I thought Serperior wouldn't be incluided, I am very happy to see it so high. It is one of the greatest pokemon without doubt.
Your videos are so positive. It always makes me happy
I always see people praising Alolan Ninetales and I like it too, but I think I'm in the minority that prefer the original Ninetales much more. It looks more elegant and menacing for me
THE ROSE OF VERSAILLE OH MY GOD THANK YOU. I remember watching this during my youth but never could remember the name later in life! Now I know what to look for, thank you!
I love Serperior and never realise that it still got the tiny hands! Thanks and awesome video, as always.
I think the Galarian bird legendaries are only more interesting because we've seen the old designs a bunch of times, so these ones just seem more unique now.
I mean, the old designs were just fire, electric and ice big birds. These are much more interesting
@@MarioFRC32 What if the new designs were the old designs, and then the old ones were the new ones?
Hisui as a region literally said “let’s create the ugliest versions of every Pokémon possible”
L take
Agree
"Here are some honourable mentions": Proceeds to list every other Pokémon...
I have watched so many of your videos, old and new. You are such a lovely person to listen to and experience. Your energies are just so kind, it's unbelievable and wonderful; I don't mean this to be weird I just mean this to be an incredible compliment to you.
Hey love all your videos and the beginning of this one too
I actually think that gen 7 had some of the most interesting designs. All the Pokémon just feel like they are full of life and color and I love it
Scolipede is such a badass
22:22 “Snom is perfect”
Nothing more to say. Snom is Snom
snom
I am so happy to see Samurott love, it was my first starter so I’m happy to see someone who likes it.
whimsicott has been my favorite pokémon (and shiny) for many, many years now, and chandelure is my favorite fire type! i’m glad gen 5 has been getting more love in recent years
reuniclus, leavanny, krookodile, gigalith, there are so many amazing designs that far outweigh the misses
No shiny Psyducks were hurt in the making of this video.
I loved so many of the Gen 8 designs!! Applin Flapple Appletun Meowth Perserrker Toxel Toxtricity Dreepy Dragapult there's so many good ones! Shame the starters didn't live up to the standard though
Inteleon is one of my favorite Galar Pokemon, idk why people hate it for being too skinny when the lizard its based on is skinny too
So happy for the gogoat love been one of my top 3 since I saw it
Not the Hatterene erasure
The newest game I’ve played is Ultra Sun and Rowlet was perhaps the first time I had ever picked a starter based on cuteness. Then it eventually turned into Decidueye, and became one of my favorites of all time. Glad to see they are number 2 for the Allan region
Espurrr getting some recognition
The way you had almost all of my favorite pokemon on the list 😭
Thanks for the serperior praise
Noivern is my favourite pokemon so i love that you put him at 3
I was disappointed when you said you wouldn’t finish the first part. Glad to see it here!
Video Idea: Best Pokémon Movesets Per Gen.
My personal kalos top 10: gogoat, pyroar, clawitzer, tyrantrum, aurorus, aegislash, noivern, heliolisk, talonflame and yveltal. such a great gen design wise
It's so interesting to me that Hisuian Arcanine consistently gets critiqued on its color scheme. I have seen two alternate redesigns which work much better, one lightened the red to a more orange color and the other turned the black accents white/grey. So in my opinion, it's not that either of its two primary colors are bad looking, but that the problem is with them combined.
That and the shiny ones are just terrible
Yeah, what happened was the designers maybe did not see how art versus digital would make a difference. The colors truly clash way too much, brown with a bit of gray and maybe orange would have looked so much better but that red/orange with gray/black just is not appealing to the eye. The colors also don't really give off "rock type" more so Fire/Dark. Growlithe's color scheme worked though it all came together heck Arcanine should have kept the same color scheme with some gray and orange and it would have looked nice.
7:18 pun probably not intended
I'm all about the gen 5 love. My favorite pokemon is druddigon, I love his design, it gives me a classic vibe with his sharp skin!
Lol during the hisuian starters thing I found it funny how while you're talking about them, shiny psyducks are being murdered in the background by the starters signature moves
"Snom is perfect" and I couldnt agree more
Awesome video! 😎 On a design note one thing I noticed about Reshiram and Zekrom , haha one is literally a dragon with Blue eyes and is white 💙 🤍 and a dragon with Red eyes that is black ♥️ 🖤.... Haha a coincidence, maybe?! or some low-key inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh
b-but runerigus
absol-utely love your picks for B&W. A game I loved and don't understand much of the hate, especially on the starters
Toxtricity is my fav design from 8 and one of my favourites ever, the colour scheme especially just draws me in, such a fun Pokémon.
TG7: *long explanation of the honorable mentions*
Also TG7: (about the arguably the cutest of Gen 8) Snom is perfect. *moves on*
Noivern is in here! Cool. Also Hoopa
at least being mentioned is great.
(It's one of my fave mons)
Marshadow is in this list!
Frick yeah
Sneasler is amazing and is based on onyudo
Hisuian Thyplosion is hyakki yagyō
And Enamorus is based on the Black tortoise of the North.
Here, let me share this
ua-cam.com/video/500VicX0DGk/v-deo.html
Overqwil is also cool
Mimikue being my favorite pokemon, I was starting to feel disappointed by the Endon of the aloha list since it wasnt mentioned. But when it was revealed it was on top place, i was extatic.
‘Snom is perfect’ is the most correct statement in the video.
Samurott is my favorite starter Pokémon - design wise
Love your videos, great picks, keep it up!
(Also I love hawlucha I'm so happy it got here!)
On about 21:10 you talk about Galarian Zapdos having a body of an ostrich, but isn't it more like a roadrunner bird?
I like that you combined Rowlet and Decidueye into one spot, as I’ve never been able to decide which one I like better. Rowlet is the perfect starter for me, and Decidueye is the perfect final evo
Nice to see some Zebstrika love😍😍
That Glitchxcity remix, though. Gold.
2:50 Are we not gonna talk about the weird way Zebrastrike’s leg was moving? 🤔
