Has anyone done power upgrade/chip tuning on Taycan or at least removed the limiter? This car has so many potential with it's 2 speed gearbox
Yes look at HPG tuning in Germany.. 4S to 620 hp and 800Nm. GTS, turbo & turbo S goes to 800 and audi RS even tot 891 hp and 1000 Nm of torque
RX-8 next to Taycan, 2 stunning cars matched up ♥
Porsche has always liked more power to the rear wheels.
Way to go guys. I enjoyed the video. That was intense watching it leap forward. Serious instant torque.
Nice numbers!
And it's such effortless power too. With the AWD and torque vectoring, it's so easy to use. Very confident car.
What an amazing car! Would love to see you drag race a Model S !!!
I wanna drag some ICE cars! LOL
I know the Tesla's are similar in output., I think the Taycan will have a big advantage in rolling races against manual ICE cars. It'll be fun to compare!
Nice RX8! Got one myself!
Ok, about the vid: thx for doing this, great show! 👍🏻
Btw, you can select views in the left dail of the instrument cluster.
That way you can see how much fwd/rwd split there is.
In Range mode, the gearbox is disconnected from the drivetrain and the car only runs on the (more efficient) front motor.
Grtz Dee.
That's hilarious! I've had the RX8 for a decade now. Was our DD for a long time.
I'm aware of the left cluster views, I usually keep it on the road setting.
btw in Range Mode it still ran both motors, and torque split was different though.

Yeah, you mentioned that in the vid.
How was the left dail looking on the road and on the dyno?
Maybe there's a difference which the car can detect and is acting differently on the dyno.
@@Spraakgebrek I'll check video on that. I'll release another video of one Dyno run, and with more detailed analysis of the torque and hp curves!
5:24 That's not the protective cover, but the aero fairing for the lower control arm to smooth out the air under the car. It's part of the floor undertray.
Aha! Makes sense. Talk about a smooth undercarriage eh? I've never been under an EV before, it looks entirely different.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics Yes, it's very smooth, like a baby's bottom. I used to work for a race car co. in TO, that designed Porsche 962 IMSA race cars aero components, i.e. Undertray, fairings etc. Thanks for the dyno video. Quite a car that you have.
@@7spower998 Very cool! The Taycan drives so beautifully, it's really something different from other cars I've driven. Can't be appreciated from videos alone. :)
Is it the on with the big or the Small batery?
Did they do a test using launch control? I know it's only for a few seconds but would probably be interesting. Thanks for the video.
P.S. unofficially I have seen the car at 122mph/195kph with no loss of power 🙄😁
Glad you enjoyed it! No, no launch control. I'm not sure that's a swell idea either.
I suspect that, based on the torque output, you get some overboost when you first hit the throttle while rolling. Just a hunch, the torque was pretty massive for a bit.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics do I understand correctly but does that torque number exceed Porsches claimed numbers by miles? 4S should have only 650 nm?
I can hear road noise which is really high i do not know is it the camera picks more sound or it is that bad that's the problem with 21 inch wheels.
It was surprisingly loud, almost a screaming sound. I don't know what causes that although on the road it doesn't seem to do that.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics you mean in the dyno or in the road? It's normal for dyno but iam asking i hear road noise is it loud? And did you try 20 inch wheels tycan to see if it's better road isolation noise?
@@Lordllloflllshadow Oh I see. No it's really quiet on the road, I drove the Turbo with 20" wheels and I think the 21" might have a slightly harder ride.
TBH the Taycan has an extremely nice ride for a car with its capabilities. It's not dissimilar to a 911, but it's more compliant.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics oh i see so it is like s class road isolation?
@@Lordllloflllshadow It would be interesting to compare to luxury cars, but I doubt it would be that quiet... it does come with thicker noise-deadening glass as an option too.
Also since it has a super low CD, that more or less eliminates wind noise.
I also posted this comment on Paradigm's short video of this test. Thanks for posting this. I saw a more recent Taycan dyno test (Turbo S model) with the dialog in German, and from what I could tell from auto-translation, they needed Porsche factory support to override the Taycan's computers so it didn't limit power due to thinking the car had traction control challenges while on the dyno: ua-cam.com/video/4sbMRl4tjxg/v-deo.html. Do you think the 4S may have had reduced performance during your dyno run due to not having this factory support for the test? Perhaps disabling all driver assistance systems with a 10 second press of the disable button (4 seconds is partial disable) per the Taycan owner's manual achieves the same outcome?
I'm not sure about that. It was really just an opportunity to look at the performance. I think the hp numbers were pretty accurate. The torque was very high at peak.
Thanks!
I’d be careful with that zip tie...it could be a simple way for them to tell if anyone has tampered with anything and void your warranty...
That zip tie is very unlikely to come off by accident...
It's there to secure the plastic cover, that's all. If you want to service the suspension you have to remove it.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics understand sir. Just wanted to make sure you were covering yourself. Great vids BTW!
Did i miss what variant this Taycan is?
Taycan 4S.
You can see that by the different design of the front bumper.
Yes 4S, I did another video going over options, including on ours.
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics well, it would have been a better video had you actually mentioned which variant it was. thanks for posting.
@@OneTireFire You're right, I've changed the title. Trying to keep it simple.. LOL
@@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics I think stating which version it is will actually attract more views, because it will still show up in the search when people just type in Porsche Taycan, but it will also be shown to people specifically searching for 4S information.
Best!
