@@RogerBaileyOnCars Hi Roger, Did you actually buy the car? If so after this time how are you finding the range. I drove the demonstrator last week it is incredible. So quiet on a long run. Did 300 miles, one 15 minute charge on an Ionity charge station and off again. My car comes in about 3 weeks time. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts after a few months. Do you intend to do a follow up? Or was you car just a short term loan. Interesting to hear your thoughts. The one thing which I found amazing apart from the performance, handling and total silence was the ride quality is about as good as any car I have ever driven or been a passenger in including a Mercedes S class. Look forward to your thoughts.

Amazing review and learnt a thing or two in the process! Didn't know the 800 V package was in the 919 Hybrid (but it doesn't surprise me given the historical LM novelties they put in their cars over the years) .
The 911 was put into the old people’s home for this summer. Did 460miles yesterday in my 4S. Having to do the same today to get home up north. Transporting 2 adults and 2 teenagers luggage for 1 month. The Taycan is absolutely brilliant and the best car Porsche delivers. It out performs the 718, 911 and Panamera on so many levels it’s unbelievable. Taycan, the force of nature💪🏻
Roger Bailey finished todays 710km stint up north of the Arctic Circle. Since the overnight hotel charger wasn’t available, we started out with 86%/410km of range. 2 very short charges (~10mins) and one ~50 minute charge on a 50kW charger to complete the journey. Superb do-it-all car🥇Looking forward to drive it in winter conditions and see IRL range in deep sub zero temps. On summer holiday, range isn’t an issue as the car needs fewer stops than me...
undoubtedly a fantastic car and a proper porsche but as an only car it would be almost unuseable for me due to its short range and charging limitations, great video.

Nice you did the 4s Rodger 👍 nice starting price but with only 4 options it went over £100k at that point it lost me , that 200mile range at 80% will plummet to 150 once a/c weight and heavy right foot , i can see this being a major problem. Looks are special , debatable on the 2 speed gearbox i like the never ending serge of a tesla s , trade off is the taycan can do it all day long ! Nice review as usual ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It is good times. Porshe is out with a fantastic driver's car (some argue it is the best Porshe ever). The sister-company has an EV hot hatch that arguably is the best Golf GTI ever made. Tesla is ready to drop the first production car doing 0-62 in less than 2 seconds (for a two-ton 5 seat sedan) a decade after they made a car. Think about that - ICE science has spent a century to make cars fast - now VW is trashing records with their test-mule just a few years after they hired some few computer and data and battery engineers. While Tesla is saying that EV's will reach price parity in 3 years - before one considers the cost of driving and ownership - and the charging infrastructure literally exploding (at least in continental Europe). As a fan of classic cars - what a dream coming through. People will have a fossil burner for that weekend drive or track day (in their handicap class since Porsche is showing us that EVs can deliver 500 kW all day long (remember when even BMWs could handle more than one launch a day only on days when the Moon and the Sun were aligned? When it would pretty much void the guarantee on an Italian car the day before something costing 10,000 Euro needed an instant fix?). Everyone loves the sound of a Jaguar F-type (unless your neighbour owns one and leaves for work at 6 am every morning). I have no fear for that sound-track going away. To watch and hear a horse galloping is also a beautiful expression of sound and force. My best friend has 3 horses. Luckily for them - and us, they are not treated as transport mules in our towns, shitting on our doorsteps. As an old school M3 fan (I am so old that I remember the 911 actively trying to kill any driver), the Tesla Model 3 chassis and set up is....bloody amazing. Now - to look at a Tesla is not exiting. But that does not worry me a second. Because these cars are skate-boards. The body-design can thus be anything. Designers can go bonkers on us without having to consider where all the exhaust piping and gear-boxes and drive-shafts and all the dozen radiators require space. As such - EVs are going to revitalize car-design. Sure - air resistance and aero are all about fluid dynamics. All cars grow up in a wind-tunnel/fluid dynamics model these days. But the freedom of leaving behind all the traditional plumbing is gonna take us into very interesting new design philosophies. When I-phone was dropped, I said: 8 hr practical battery life? I have a job looking at screens - and my Nokia could go for a week without the need to plugin. Seems I was OK with plugging in after all. Dear Rolls Royce. We know you have spent a century of making the internal combustion engine silent. I wonder what the average driving distance the chauffeur does behind the wheel taking his boss places in the Phantom. 200 km max, I would assume. Since above there, the VIP helicopter is probably better to use. And above that - the private jet is sure to make more sense. Point is - I understand it is a bit frustrating to have spent a century on making an engine silent. I introduce you to the electric motor. Rolls was never about horsepower, as they were just the means to get you the torque and linear delivery of said torque to make your 3-ton mansion move about. Go electric already as your customer silently wosh in the back-seat on the high-way and sit in congestion to the City to sign their next billion-pound contract. I am sure the chauffeur will make sure the machine is charged up and ready to go home during the 30-minute contract meeting. Hence - the typical Phantom should be AOK with a 50 kW battery if we are honest. If you love mechanics - buy a million pound Patek Phillip wristwatch. It runs by hand-winding it every 50 or so hours, and is a bigger mechanical marvel than any car needing to ignite hydrocarbon 1000 times per minute to work.
When auto manufacturers first leaked news they were working on 3-cars I ignored them. Laughed. THey've come a long way in 2021. With most car makers already having put out a few e-vehicles and working on putting out more. This IS the future. Just makes sense on many levels. Practicality and performance. And Porsche actually created a electronic SciFi humm that's alluring and not toy-like. And you can go silent...something no gas engine can do...we just got used to the sound of exhaust..even if subtle. How great would it be if we didn't have that LOUD exhaust constantly blaring behind us like screaming children. To have an off switch for that sound. The loud "race" exhaust sounds on supercars only sound good for 10 seconds in action movies. :) Gets old fast. :)
Hi Roger Very impressive you could almost convince me, however cost of purchase aside, I still have reservations about range and infrastructure. However I would agree Porsche have moved the Game forward, and credit to them.
Generally love Porsche styling but unfortunately not this one. Lost too much from the original mission e concept and ended up looking like a panamera. Also to my mind way way too expensive for what it is. For a well spec’d Taycan you could buy your lovely Spyder and a Tesla 3 Performance. Thanks for the video always very well done.
Just a handful of years ago Tesla dominated this segment and now with Porsche and Jag in the mix it’s only good for the consumer with more choice. Surprised you did not review the back seat accommodation, is it bad?
I still think they should do a 2 door version of this called the 922 and it would be slated to eventually replace the 911 far down the line when that day comes.
Until there’s a recharging network as easily accessible as the gasoline stations I will stay with the internal combustion engined 911 especially since gasoline is as cheap as it is especially in the USA. I do like what I see of the future of the automobile.👍
Nice video and great technology by Porsche. BUT IN SPORTY DRIVING the range shrinks to just around 100 miles !!! Impossible to live with for the money this car is offered at. And it should be a GT so range is still a real long ownership killer even for a man capable of paying that huge price.
Fastest charge is not accurate. It may be the highest power, but it isn’t the highest power / distance. Who cares is the power is high if that doesn’t translate into faster ability to increase the range of the pack.
Roger - How about Taycan drivers sharing their home charging unit. In an emergency and in need of electricity...Contact a member for 30 minutes of charge. About a 5% charge. Come sit in my drive or have a cup of tea. Just an idea.
It’s a Porsche, but is it? Totally unpractical in UK as nowhere to charge it and home electrical supply is like putting three kettles on for nine hours! As an EV there are better options and the hybrids more practical. It is a car of the future though just not yet for today’s ownership.
@@cyberslim7955 - watch Roger's video again - The Taycan needs a higher power source to charge which are not readily available. Driving in modern traffic or tailbacks, at night or with A/C on drains batteries. My point is the UK does not have the charging infrastructure to support this car. GM just announced they are investing $20 Billion for EVs in USA so we need large investment here. I'm not a great fan of EVs and prefer petrol so will be on my Shank's Pony when they ban my classic cars!
@@robbey300 Infrastructure investment into electrifying the transport sector is essential and not a problem for a developed country. It takes time and money, but money well spent. I love EVs because I have a wallbox at home. It is so much more convenient than frequent trips to the stinking gas station.
Rodger Baily - you are working with OUTDATED Information. TESLA has Project Roadrunner in the works as well as Project PALLDIUM for Tesla model S and Model X.
Rodger Bailey - Please explain how Exactly Porsche is going to Compete, when they DONT even Understand Advanced LION Battery, Advanced Electric motors and BEV Drivetrain ? Please explain why its Taycan Series is LOWER PERFORMANCE than a 2020 Tesla model S Raven Performance . Quite, simply TESLA Trounces the Porsche Taycan.
@BTICronox - you just Proved my point, Porsche or even VW did NOT Design the cells , there were simply bought from LG Chem. Pouch cells are less Durrable over time and LESS stable as they can Puncture easily. Pouch cells Today are less Energy Dense than Advanced Cylindrical LION cells, and more Expensive to boot. TESLA has the MOST Efficient motor design approaching close to 98% Efficiency . its why their cars have way more Range than Anyone in the Industry . TESLA has the MOST Advanced Drive system. only LESS Advanced vehicles have Multi Gear selections for their BEV like the Taycan and the Black Zombie 222. nope, Wrong and Wrong. you cant rely on WLTP stats , you have to go with REAL WORLD Performance, which TESLA has Proven time & time Again. and you ONLY have to LOOK at the Taycan POOR sales compared to the TESLA overall. to see Porsche missed the Boat, that ship has Sailed.
@BTICronox - NOPE, still WRONG. TESLA makes its 21700 batteries under License in a Gigafactory that Tesla built for Panasonic, it make 1/3 of the WORLDS output in Batteries. and each Gigafactory in the WORLD has Battery Production on Site, even FREMONT is adding battery production with Project Roadrunner and Project Palladium in GF1. you ONLY have to overcharge or puncture a Pouch LION cell , to know its UNSTABLE. TESLA has pantented a FUSE system to Prevent thermal runway and a Advanced BMS to manage Battery temprature. Tesla is going away from OUTDATED batter modules with Direct cell to Pack. and to SUPERIOR , Nickel + Silicon batteries for its NEXT gen Vehicles. Porsche tires are crap. the Tesla 21" Performance tires are Superior and offer Very High RACING performance at a cost of Reduced Range, easily solved by swaping out tires with 19" Gemini which offers INCREASED RANGE and Decent Daily Road Driving. TESLA Dual Motor drivetrain Today outperforms the Porsche 2 speed transmission, and its upcoming PLAD Tri Motor and Project Palladium will OUTPERFORM any Production car. PLAD and Pallidum are coming to the Model S/X and NEW Tesla vehicles.
@BTICronox - Herbert Diess, disagrees with you, he Fully Admits TESLA as having the Superior Technology, TODAY. he is trying to improve VW (Porsche) but, he KNOWS they Simply cannot compete. I think Porsche (VW) has Potential one day (20+ years) might to be Equal to Tesla in 2020 . Tesla has now 2 Gaga car factories and 2 more under Construction , Porsche only sells 250,000 vehicles per year, compared with Tesla Exceeding 400,000 Vehicles at FREMONT alone , and are Ramping up to 500,000 before end of 2020. and Tesla sells MORE Dual Motor and PERFORMANCE Variants than RWD Standard, so TESLA is Eliminating ALL Short Range vehicles from its Lineup, and 100% Producing ONLY Long Range Vehicles with over 300+ mile range MINIMUM. and TESLA is also making 100% of their Vehicles with 1000 mph Supercharging . and TESLA will be adding at last 3 more Gigafactory in the NEXT 4 years.
Rodger Baily - the REALLY Sad thing about Porsche Taycan is its PIPIFUL Efficiency and Range, this happens when you dont Understand batteries, Electric motors and BEV Drivetrain. Tesla is now 100% comitted to only Producing LONG RANGE vehicles with over 300+ miles range , even on their RWD models, and comiittted to 100% of their Vehicles with 1000 mph DC FAST charging. Tesla just upped the ante. and is Eliminating all Short Range Variants. Furthermore, Porsche Taycan is using a OUTDATED gas car body (Porsche Panarama ) its Inefficient and Weighted Incorrectly. even the Tala Model S is a NEW car Built from the Ground up, it has ZERO connection to any ICE car.
Tesla salesman talking rubbish here again, there is no panamera in the Taycan its a new design its efficient and weighted correctly, I understand Tesla sales people being worried now that Porsche is in the game.
@@Pedro-rx2jd - Wikipedia , Porsche Taycan DEVELOPED from the Panamara. PORSCHE has ZERO skin in the GAME. its a LOW PERFORMANCE car with HORRABLE Efficiency. Taycan is LESS Efficient , because its using a ICEV body on a BEV Drivetrain, these are UNDENIABLLE FACTS.
@@Pedro-rx2jd Yeah, so true! Porsche only takes care of the top end of the EV market. The real hard hit comes with VW and related brands with MEB cars like ID.3,4,5, Seat, Skoda, beautiful Audi Q4 e-tron and many more. These will hit the EV market like a bomb! Entire production of ID.3 for the next 9 months in Europe has already been sold. That should be close to 200k units. ID.4 starts selling later this year. elbilstatistikk.no VW and brands sold almost 10 times as many EVs than t-junk. And VW has not even really started!

It runs by hand-winding it every 50 or so hours, and is a bigger mechanical marvel than any car needing to ignite hydrocarbon 1000 times per minute to work.
interesting read, yes EV is the future ICE could well be relegated to hobbyists as was the horse, nice bit of writing - cheers - Roger
thanks for sharing your thoughts
Hi Roger
Very impressive you could almost convince me, however cost of purchase aside, I still have reservations about range and infrastructure. However I would agree Porsche have moved the Game forward, and credit to them.
fair point Philip 👍🏼
Phillip - Porsche lacks Understaning of Batteries, Electric motors and BEV Drivetrin.
@@markplott4820 No, they are regulars in EV races, they know well enough to make fantastic EVs!
@@cyberslim7955 - then WHY were European car makers, SCARED when they did a Teardown of Tesla Vehicles ?
@@markplott4820 Scared for their lives when driving near t-junk? My MS90D is worse than a golf cart and should NEVER EVER be allowed on public roads!
good review, taycan is the best EV out there
cheers Jake
Jake - BEST ? not even Close, the TESLA Model S Raven Performace can SMOKE a Taycan.
@@markplott4820 you suck idiot kid
superb review, pure class and amazing car
thank you Barry
great review. thank you.
Very welcome
Nice video as usual Roger
thanks Peter 👍🏼
Awesome review! I would have liked to see this car in a 2 door model.
That would be cool! thanks
wauu best car to plannet is porsche taycan
Another great review from Rodger. 👍
Thanks 👍
When and where did Porsche claim that?
Generally love Porsche styling but unfortunately not this one. Lost too much from the original mission e concept and ended up looking like a panamera. Also to my mind way way too expensive for what it is. For a well spec’d Taycan you could buy your lovely Spyder and a Tesla 3 Performance. Thanks for the video always very well done.
Thanks Tom, interesting points made
Just a handful of years ago Tesla dominated this segment and now with Porsche and Jag in the mix it’s only good for the consumer with more choice. Surprised you did not review the back seat accommodation, is it bad?
Hi Parvin, back seat is fine, reasonable head room etc
Thanks roger
welcome eddie, good to hear from you again
Lucid Air and Plaid S will make Taycan history, that is for sure. Anybody could be able to buy a used Taycan Turbo S under $40K in 2 years.
I have a tycan 4s but i am afraid you are right. Well just enjoy it for now
Interestingly, Taycan models are now the biggest seller for Porsche and in late 2022 the wait for a new Taycan is over a year…
I still think they should do a 2 door version of this called the 922 and it would be slated to eventually replace the 911 far down the line when that day comes.
interesting point
my dear friend i love taycan so much but i cannot to buy her i am apoorman HAHAHA!
Until there’s a recharging network as easily accessible as the gasoline stations I will stay with the internal combustion engined 911 especially since gasoline is as cheap as it is especially in the USA.
I do like what I see of the future of the automobile.👍
the considerable challenge facing us here the UK in changing our cars over to EV would I imaging be even greater in the US, watch this space !
Nice video and great technology by Porsche. BUT IN SPORTY DRIVING the range shrinks to just around 100 miles !!! Impossible to live with for the money this car is offered at. And it should be a GT so range is still a real long ownership killer even for a man capable of paying that huge price.
thanks, yes range is the issue with all EV's
My thought on this is that range will be less important as fast charging becomex normal which on mainland europe it is steadily becoming the case
@@lgnh6430 Ionity partnership now really pushing thr pricing up though. For me EV is a no go for at least another 5 years.
excellent video.
i would have one without hesitation - my only problem ? ££££££££ lol
You and me both!
Great video but just don’t feel the design from one of the most iconic car makers!
Beautiful car and superb tech ? BUT does it have a soul? Could you fall in love with it? Or is a Dyson on wheels !
Taycan is just a Complince car with a Panarama Body , not at all Efficient and Shorter range than a BOLT.
@@markplott4820 Nonsense! Range is great, efficiency is excellent for what the car offers. ua-cam.com/video/nQJ4MsP7Ii8/v-deo.html
Just an idea.
good idea Stephen
it will take time for these charging stations to get up to the same speed.
very true
It’s a Porsche, but is it? Totally unpractical in UK as nowhere to charge it and home electrical supply is like putting three kettles on for nine hours! As an EV there are better options and the hybrids more practical. It is a car of the future though just not yet for today’s ownership.
thanks for making the points
The UK has no power grid?
Surely it’s pronounced “genshion” the t=sh
These are expensive garage queens
Mark - I cant explain
@BTICronox - NOPE, still WRONG.
Looks like theres a Tesla salesman in the comments. The point about the Taycan is it's build quality and driving dynamics are superior to Tesla.
Dislike the FAKE Exhaust sounds , SILENCE IS GOLDEN.
Rodger Baily - the REALLY Sad thing about Porsche Taycan is its PIPIFUL Efficiency and Range,
this happens when you dont Understand batteries, Electric motors and BEV Drivetrain.
Nonsense ua-cam.com/video/nQJ4MsP7Ii8/v-deo.html
