OMG guys, George Harrison was the lead guitarist in the BEATLES. This song was from his first solo award winning album right after the Beatles broke up. The album was called All Things Must Pass, which is also a great song. He got very philosophical and although raised Catholic he got into the Indian /Hindu religion as well and Indian instruments such as the Sitar. Indian as in from "India". He also formed the group The Travelling Wilburys with many classic early rock musicians, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne . He write & sang the Beatle song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps. You reacted to the cover version of that song.

@@robertcartier5088 Oh you're right technically in the regards to the melody but not the words. George's heart was in the right place with his words. I don't think he used the tune knowing what he did though. He did not read or know how to technically write music and not until I heard it compared did I realize the tune was almost exactly the same as "He's so fine" He lost the lawsuit regarding these tunes for "subconciously plagarizing" the original tune and had to pay a lot of $$$ for it.

George Harrison was a member of the Beatles until he quit the band. He died aged 58 on the 29th November 2001. He passed away at Sir Paul McCartney's American home, George had his wife Olivia Harrison by his side until the end. According to those present, his final words were: “Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another.” Just looked somewhere else and there is a different story to where he died and who was there, sorry if not right!

Sublimely beautiful song from George, who wrote many of my most favorite Beatles tunes when he was one of the Fab Four. This is tied with Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy" for me as the best post-Beatle songs any of them put out. Come to think of it, I think George wrote THAT one too! Or at least George co-wrote it with Ringo. Thank you for doing this one!

George was so underated. When they stopped touring in the mid 60s he went to India and became a follower of the religion that worships Harri Chrisna (I spelt that wrong I know) then got the rest of the Beatles into it. He had some great songs along with being a great guitarist. My fav Beatle. There was documentary called George Harrison living in the material world. I recommend it great watch

Yes, George was the spiritual aspect of the Beatles. Quiet, reserved, spiritual....like a true Pisces. And though John and Paul were the main songwriters, George ALWAYS hit it out of the park when he wrote Beatles songs. "Something" is a perfect example of that. Doesn't matter that you didn't know who he was (R.I.P),you know who he is now. That's what really matters. Always love watching y'all react to great music and movies! 9:09

George was the quiet Beatle. He studied Eastern religions. In this song he is repeating part of a Hindu mantra, Hare Krishna, and interspersing it with the Christian hallelujah, pointing out that they are very much the same thing. Enlightenment. We are the light. It's such a simple beautiful song.

A lot of Christians lost their freakin' minds over this song when they realized it wasn't about their god but about an Indian one. Just the same as when John Lennon's Imagine came out. That one still drives them nuts and I love it and that song.

I think it’s the best solo album from the Fab Four. Speaking of The Beatles, Paul McCartney is on tour this spring; if you live in one of the cities he’s visiting: he puts on a heck of a show.

The first benefit concert of its kind - and an inspiration to Bob Geldof, when he was putting "Live Aid" together (with Midge Ure). Bob was 'knighted', George was only offered an "OBE", which was a lower title than what Paul McCartney had received. George told them, in no uncertain words, no.

The last few minutes of this song have an entire Hare Krishna meditation mantra being sung by the background singers in between George's "my sweet lord" they start off with Hallelujah then on to Hare Krishna Hare Hare. Krishna Krishna etc. That's an artist trying to inject some positive vibrations into the global consciousness, which he saw as one of his responsibilities as a person of significant influence.
