I couldn’t agree more with all he comments about Roger Taylor’s talent. Keep in mind that he did all this without a wireless headset like today’s drummers. He had to be at the mic at the right time without missing a beat. Freddie absolutely took care of his instrument and never drank while performing. Every movement on stage was timed perfectly. Before he passes off his mic, a fresh cup of hot honey and lemon is placed on the piano. That’s what you saw him drink. Thanks for a great reaction!
Roger Taylor's vocals are often overshadowed by Freddie's virtuoso voice, but he's a phenomenal singer himself and his contribution to Queen's sound is one of the things that makes the group so damned good.

I was fortunate to see Queen in concert for this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August of 1980. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped on the stage. Definitely one of "those concerts" that I will always remember.
Even the drummer can sing!❤ Here I go again with G.M., but that was wonderful performance too. Gorge sang this song at the tribute concert for Freddie, while his partner found out he had AIDS too, and was in the crowd that day. George said, “I just wanted to die inside. I was so overwhelmed by singing the songs of this man I had worshipped as a child, who had passed away in the same manner my first living partner was going to experience."
Queen has been my favorite band in the whole wide world for the past 48 years! You reactions were priceless, especially the smile that it put on Asia's face. Thank you so much for posting!
Queen is the band four equal members Freddie was the lead singer he has said many times in interviews he was not the leader but the lead singer they were all multi instrumentalists Roger Taylor on drums has an amazing voice had solo projects running alongside Queen also Dr Brian May lead guitar amazing voice also had a solo career John Deacon bass guitar very rarely sang said he couldn’t sing all wrote number one hits all inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame one brilliant amazing band ❤️❤️
I was 21, and this was such a good time for concerts. Freddie was a genius and so respected. He was a showman and good at keeping the audience what they came to see.
Nobody physically can sing like Freddie Mercury. He had the fastest vibrato ever tested. He used the ventricular folds in his throat to create subharmonics a technique only ever seen in Tuvan singers. He also had a large jaw. So he was able to sing with perfect pitch and create his own vocal print making it recognizable to human ears. He was obviously born to sing and be a showman as he also had incredible energy. ❤More Queen and Freddie Mercury please. ❤The fact he found 3 other incredible musicians who could harmonize with him was fate. He wanted to be a legend. He still is.
You bet this was great to see live. In fact I saw them, on this tour in Madison Square Garden, in September 1980. There's another great song, well they're all great, from the album this tour was named after called the Game. It was the last song on the album, "Save Me". I highly recommend it. The drummer is Roger Taylor, check a live version of "I'm in love with my car". He wrote it and sings lead vocals.
I was 15 when that song came out. The beautiful thing about Freddie's voice is I get goosebumps still everytime I hear it. Cant imagine my life without Queens music. Thanks ☆☆☆☆☆ Great reactions. (I seen his shoulders go back the first time) than your hair starts ti stand up. haha.
Your channel is new to me and I subscribed...I loved your reaction! They performed this song about 1/3 the way through that concert...so that was not their finale!!!! All that energy and 2/3 of the concert left to do! I grew up with Queen....watching that just now at my age got me feeling tired, lol.
I was at this concert in Montreal. A road trip of 5000 miles return from Alberta to Quebec. Spent my 24 B-day listening to him sing this song and so much more. They were marvelous!
soo glad you reacted to this the best version ... remember this is LIVE like WTF lol sounds sooooooo goood not just freddie the whole band... this is why queen are sooo loved.
I can watch this over and over anytime and it is still fresh, the goosebumps still come. If you want to add another layer, check out the LIVE version at Milton Keynes. It is a wild card performance - the song just rushes out of him to an audience that lifts him up. While not at the same film quality, it is just pure passion.
Best part about this - despite it sounding like / having the energy of a final encore at the close of a show, this was only the 4th song of a 27 song concert. Freddie and Queen are absolute legend.
I DID see Queen live seven or eight times., and some of their early gigs as well as their big venue concerts. I'm so lucky to be born in an era that made it possible to see some of the GOATS of music.
"Even the drummer can sing. Who's that drummer?" That statement alone tells you just how amazing of a singer Roger Taylor is. Freddie Mercury just gave the performance of his life, quite possibly the best he ever sang, and her first reaction is even the drummer can sing. That's how amazing Roger Taylor is. I am a guitar player. You would think my favorite member would be Brian May, who I do love. It shows you just how unique of a performer you're dealing with when a guitar player's favorite band member is the drummer, and it's because of his voice.
This song will always remind me of Taylor Hawkins. He was a huge Queen fan and would sing lead on this song when Foo Fighters covered it at their concerts. Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor joined Foo Fighters on stage for this song at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert last weekend with Sam Ryder singing lead. That entire 6 hour concert was amazing, every minute was absolutely perfect, so much great music and an outpouring of love for Taylor and the Foo family.
Yes, yes, yes! I love the look on BJ's face when the song started, and he realized that the start of the song sounded familiar. Freddie Mercury is one of a kind when it comes to vocal range. I've watched this video multiple times and i get goosebumps each time. It was fun to watch y'all react to this song, not to mention the live performance. Hope y'all have a great week and sending yall positive vibes.
Yes...two other great singers in Queen...drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May. They often helped out when Freddie's voice was fried or tired or sang lead on other songs. But Freddie was perfection here. The entire Montreal concert is UNREAL. ❤ Freddie's (and my) favourite Queen song.
I still get goosebumps even after watching and listening to this version of this song over 100 times. I love you and miss you so much Freddie. Rest in Peace darling, dear man. ❤
After the sip of beer and at the end of his intense vocal you will see a tear roll from his left eye and down his cheek. He preformed with such emotion!!
I love queen live ..but man I love that studio version ..its so old school how recordings were then ..1 microphone..just 1 . No auto tune ..just to see the complete harmony during that shows how much sweat and work went into music albums then . 4 guys ...today you see like 30 people on stage with a thousand theatrics to do a song . It's just PURE with these guys .
That wasn’t beer Freddie was drinking- he didn’t drink beer during the show. He said he was afraid he would burp while trying to sing… 🤣 He drank a mixture of tea and honey to sooth his voice while singing.
@@alvamarsh4290 go back and watch the video- you don’t see him drink from the bottle, only the cups. The beer was for the other band members. Geez- maybe you need to see an eye doctor. 🙄
@@alvamarsh4290 I believe John Deacon, the bass player, who was rather shy, liked an alcoholic drink (or three) to calm his nerves on stage... and he rarely sang, so the burping wasn't so much of an issue for him. This was a several hours-long performance, during which everyone in the band needed fluids. A piano provides a convenient table top for the band to have their drinks laid out. In later shows, IIUC, they had a sort of tent erected on stage where they could retire to, with a proper refreshments table laid out for them. Morgan Fisher who played keyboards for them during a European tour in around '81 or'82 (?) tells a funny story of them all being in there while Brian was thrilling the audience (but, apparently, boring some of the other band members) with an extra long guitar solo.... Freddie was particularly restless, and suggested they might as well go shopping...
So many Queen songs to respond to. Freddie's incredible stage presence still gives me cold chills...a talent gone way too soon! He put all he had into his performances.
Roger Taylor is an AMAZING singer and he always do the high tenor vocals. He's one of the best drummers in music history. Seeing Freddie sing and perform always makes me emotional knowing even then when I saw him in concert 😭 that he was ill with HIV. IT just gets to me
Freddie had good taste! Jimi Hendrix & Aretha Franklin were his favorites. When he came to England he went to every Hendrix show he could. Great band. Glad movie made more people aware of their music. Early (70’s) Queen so good also. Thnx

The drummer Roger Taylor has always been the secret weapon for Queen. He does his job with unselfish zeal and is not nearly noted for his supporting vocals. But Queen fans know. The one player in a band you not mess with is the drummer. Roger Taylor should get far more credit than he does. But to his credit he doesn't complain about his situation. A true team player. And deservedly the unit of Freddie, John, Roger, and Brian were one of the all time greatest ever assembled. As we watch this performance from 4o years ago, it reminds us that real music is the most authentic way to touch people. Perhaps we would all be better if we could return to that. My favorite album by Queen was The Game. There are 3 standout songs for me. DRAGON ATTACK, SAVE ME, SAIL AWAY SWEET SISTER. Enjoy.
What I was trying to say is my ass is old. But listen to me. It's the moment you have at this very second and the music makes us smile still yet to this day. Just like you and your Husband are. I'm 60 and every damn time I watch this it's just as freaking good as the first. Freddy's soul lives on.
Love y'all's Queen reacts. As someone who's been a fan for over 30 years I love watching others experience these songs and performances for the first time. I wish I could do that again.
Thank you for that great reaction..B.J. Is right on the money!...Freddie always said about his songs that it was up to the people listening to make up their own minds...he wrote this as a tribute to Aretha Franklin whom he really admired...he had hoped that she would sing it one day...I wonder did she know about it?...also the bottle of beer was product placement...the cups had various liquids in them...water..tea..honey..lemon...after all if you sing like Freddie you need them🤩
This is what talent looks like distilled to its purest form. I was so lucky to see Queen several times, the first in 1976. I saw them at the University of Maryland cole fieldhouse with Thin Lizzy as the opening band. Awesome times.
hahaha BJ making sure people KNOW Asia is yours :))) so cute ! the best right ? thank you for sharing !! Couldnt agree more about Roger ! what a voice and drummer. classically trained Freddie !
One of my greatest disappointments is not ever having the opportunity to see them live ! while on the subject of Queen you guys need to react to the audience singing Bohemian Rhapsody at a Green Day concert ! THAT will give you goosebumps to
Wife here.."Spectacular" such a perfect description Ms. ASIA.!!!...Loving the shout out to your Beautiful Queen..BJ!!!.."Singing his ❤ heart out"!!!..Awesome Pick!!!🥰💖🤘
Nothing like watching Queen live in concert… I feel blessed to have seen Queen as my very first concert to ever go to. Right after A Night at the Opera came out, they quickly became one of my favorite bands.
Asia nailed it midway into the song, a studio doesn't do them justice. In many ways, they were hampered being in a studio. Everything, from their music to their vocals, was geared towards large stadiums; and they were at their best performing Live in front of tens of thousands of people. The music was on point, the vocals were impeccable (and they harmonized so perfectly). Just an incredible group of performers / songwriters who complemented each other perfectly.
Of course Roger Taylor sang, he also sang lead on some songs, as well as Brain May on guitar. They had 3 lead singers. I was fortunate enough to se them twice in the ‘70s. Once on A Day At The Races tour, and also the News Of The World tour. Freddie was a master showman of the highest caliber. When they played live he held everyone in the audience on a string wanting more.
If you want to see just how well Brian May (guitarist) and Roger Taylor (drummer) can sing, I would recommend listening to No-one But You. Brian wrote it after Freddie's death. The only song they released as a 3 piece, and the last time John Deacon (bassist) appeared. He retired after that.
Okay you two are just to cute! This is what my music was growing up, I’m so elated that love Queen, and appreciate their magnificent, majestic sound. Freddie’s voice and passion is unmatched. I think you might enjoy Cool Cat, You Take My Breath away the official video, it is Freddie harmonizing with himself and what makes it even more amazing no computer, no auto tone, just raw talent, and White Queen live at Hammersmith my favorite song of Queen and it’s live it will blow your mind. Pure perfection Yes more Queen please!!! Stay safe darlings ❤️❤️❤️
No, it wasn't. The high harmonies were done by Roger and Freddie. Roger actually lost his high falsetto in the 80's. In the 80's all of the highest harmonies were done by Freddie.

Such a beautiful song . And Loving that you are posting this! Thank you! Funny story, as a long time Queen fan, this was the first Queen song that really I fell in love with. It had a vibe and a feel that was so unique to my young ears. Though, it was Not the first Queen I heard as song as that was Bohemian Rhapsody, that my younger sister played for me off the radio. When l First used to play this (loudly) in my bedroom and my parents very curiously came knocking wondering what was it that I listening to as I mostly listened to bands like Aerosmith. They were caught a little by surprise as they thought I was listening to Black Spiritual (Gospel) Music! (And they would have welcomed it if I was as they were cool like that. Very open minded) And I know totally that is where Freddie's inspiration comes from. You can just hear the Gospel and Feel it's influence. Funny too as they really began to Enjoy listening to Queens music too! I even found my Queen Greatest hits cassette in my dad's car tape deck. Thank you for for posting this, Keep Rocking!

@@HelloClarice80 It was August 23, 1980 to be exact. I still have my ticket stub. LOL.
Even the drummer can sing!❤
Here I go again with G.M., but that was wonderful performance too.
This was just epic. A stellar performance for Queen.
Freddie made it look effortless. A sign of true genius.💛
I think you are incorrect as fastest. Look I said it in 2 sentences.
Roger, the drummer, was always there to help with vocals especially when Freddie's voice was tired or strained.
He was absolutely amazing on the high harmonies as well.
🤘 ❤
This is my favorite Queen song. Has been since the day it came out. This live version is EVERYTHING!
Your reaction was a delight! You’re so right, the talent of these 4 men is astronomical.
I’ve been to 3 Queen concerts in my life and cried every time. Such an emotional rollercoaster !
Arguably the greatest front man in Rock history. Freddy is incredible.
I have him and Chris Cornell tied, different but both are the greatest!
If you really want to be amazed, check out Freddie and Monsterat Caballet singing a duet!! The Golden Boy is my favorite
It's called 'Barcelona'. Fred wrote it for the Barcelona Olympic Games.(1982?)

Hope y'all have a great week and sending yall positive vibes.
best live performance I've ever seen
Yes...two other great singers in Queen...drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May. They often helped out when Freddie's voice was fried or tired or sang lead on other songs. But Freddie was perfection here. The entire Montreal concert is UNREAL. ❤ Freddie's (and my) favourite Queen song.
This is my favorite Queen performance of any song. Y’all are going to 🥰
I still get goosebumps even after watching and listening to this version of this song over 100 times. I love you and miss you so much Freddie. Rest in Peace darling, dear man. ❤
After the sip of beer and at the end of his intense vocal you will see a tear roll from his left eye and down his cheek. He preformed with such emotion!!
Queen was my first concert ever! Nobody has topped them! Not even RUSH or Prince!
I never knew about the “burping” thing, that’s so FUNNY (FUNNY like only Freddie could be)! I guess by Wembley, he wasn’t as worried about burping.
And it just happens to be in a Heiniken bottle?
@@michellepetrillo2235 You don't burp from a Heineken, I tried 😉 It's all Water, like their Vegetables...
Freddie was a composer, an artist, a Performer, and a Singer beyond Compare!
So many Queen songs to respond to. Freddie's incredible stage presence still gives me cold chills...a talent gone way too soon! He put all he had into his performances.
The talent in that band was beyond belief.
None like them before or since. They earned their place in history.
Roger Taylor is an AMAZING singer and he always do the high tenor vocals. He's one of the best drummers in music history. Seeing Freddie sing and perform always makes me emotional knowing even then when I saw him in concert 😭 that he was ill with HIV. IT just gets to me
Rip to Queen Elizabeth the band loved her
Also this was definitely Aretha Franklin inspired
So sad Queen Elizabeth passed away.
@@tiffanytosh1569 it was her time.

DRAGON ATTACK,
SAVE ME,
SAIL AWAY SWEET SISTER.
The drummer has amazing voice
Each member of the band has had success on their own. John in The Immortals, Brian and Roger solo plus Rogers band The Cross.
Freddie Mercury's voice was perfect! We won't see another like him for a long time. He knew how to work the audience and the audience loved him.
He soaked up the crowd's energy and fed it to his bandmates.
If y'all haven't already done so, you NEED to hear him sing Melancholy Blues!!! O.M.G. 🎤
Nothing like watching Queen live in concert… I feel blessed to have seen Queen as my very first concert to ever go to. Right after A Night at the Opera came out, they quickly became one of my favorite bands.
One of if not the best loved - most talented band's to have ever excisted !! - Never to be replicated and still going strong today and for yrs to come
From the same concert, you guys should check out “I’m in love with my car”; Roger Taylor, the drummer, wrote it and sings lead 👍
I was so blessed to have been able to see them live 3 times. This is my favorite Queen song!
One of my favorite performances.. love seeing drummer interaction with Freddy.
The fact that Roger can drum AND sing like that at the same time, makes my heart crazy!!!! ❤❤❤
There's a fantastic live performance I believe at Wembley stadium of under Pressure where Freddie completely commands like 70,000 people. It's insane.
Most of the high harmonies on all their songs were done by Roger Taylor. (the drummer) He had unreal range.
No, it wasn't. The high harmonies were done by Roger and Freddie. Roger actually lost his high falsetto in the 80's. In the 80's all of the highest harmonies were done by Freddie.
@@ZENOBlAmusic Yeah, ok. whatever.

I am the true definition of a senior citizen. It is so amazing to see young people discover this music. Thanks!!
They did it as four people on stage, incredible! That's why they are the best.
A couple years ago when our son was a senior in high school, they performed this song at their variety show, and our son plays the drums. I remember being so proud watching him pound out this song on the drums haha! He even dressed like Roger Taylor. Queen is always so fun to visit every now and again …they’re just so darn entertaining…even to the younger kids!
I believe they are the greatest group ever. Their shows were incredibly special. Saw them twice in '79 and '81.
Very open minded)
And I know totally that is where Freddie's inspiration comes from. You can just hear the Gospel and Feel it's influence.
Funny too as they really began to Enjoy listening to Queens music too!
I even found my Queen Greatest hits cassette in my dad's car tape deck.
Thank you for for posting this,
Keep Rocking!
Please remember it took all of Queen to be Queen. Roger Taylor-Drums and the higher vocals and lyricist on many of their Bangers. Brian May, guitar, background vocals, vocals and lyricists on many more bangers and last but not least John Deacon, bass player (seldom sang) and wrote some of Queens Biggest hits! All talent, nobody was sleeping!!!!!
Nice to see youngsters like you appreciate the music and form a honest opinion. I did see them 3 times in the 70s..but I'm a lot older than you youths!!!!
Incredible performance by the entire band. Thank you for your reactions.
