    These are absolutely the best collard greens I have ever eaten. And...guess what my yankee husband made them. The Jalapeño Cornbread was DELICIOUS, too. I served some Salmon Patties with our dinner. Yum!

      @@raineyday7286 That makes me cheer! I only used to make them on the stove but that takes some time but with the pressure cooker I can have it once a week if I wanted. (and sometimes do!)
      Sometimes I'll cook them half the time, release the pressure and then toss some seasoned porkchops on top with a pat of butter on each. I pressure again for the remaining half. Full meal right there.

    I recently started getting a FarmBox of fruits and veggies delivered every other week. I'm not big on veggies so this will force me to eat them more. I can't bear wasting any food. My last box had one bunch of collards when I'd normally cook seven bunches. I found this recipe and used the one bunch of greens and a couple of squash from my last box. I also added smoked turkey legs and used this recipe in my instant pot. Wow!! My greens/squash are delicious and perfectly seasoned. I ate two bowls full for dinner. So good! Thank you for this recipe!! Next time I'll add the cornbread.

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  5 років тому

      Totally agree Dana! When I cook greens on the stove, I go for stemless all the time. But to be honest, in the pressure cooker, the stems get so tender we don't mind them. Sometimes the bag has too many stems and I'll (or the wife) will go through and pick them out, but those stems get so tender you don't even realize you're eating them. But if I can find already cleaned stemless, which I usually can at my local market, that is my preference. They turn out like silk in the pressure cooker! Thanks for watching Dana!

    Never thought of honey in my greens

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  3 роки тому +1

      It adds no sweetness that you can taste. Just a cutter for any bitterness.

  • @jeanette2492
    @jeanette2492 6 років тому +2

    DO you have to use the sugar?

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  6 років тому +5

      No, you don't have to you could substitute it for all honey. I find it cuts the bitterness of the greens. If you follow this recipe exactly, I can tell you that there is no hint of sweetness at all. If your concern is about refined sugar than I recommend adding all honey. Keep in mind if the recipe is not followed exactly then results will be different . I'm not saying it wont be good. I'm just saying that wont be these greens!

    They really look so delicious, but are they tender?

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  5 років тому +1

      Hell yeah they're tender! I just made some yesterday with the ham "juice" (fat and yumminess) from a ham I smoked a couple days ago - Tender and delicious AF. In the wintertime I still will cook greens on the stove maybe once or twice, but really, once you try it in the pressure cooker, you may never do it again on the stove.

    Hi Jaxx, thank you for the recipe. Look forward to trying it. Quick question. The recipe on you link says pressure cook for 22 mins with natural release, but you say 30 mins in your video? How much time do you recommend?

    • @JaxxDrinkwater
      @JaxxDrinkwater  3 роки тому

      Either one...it doesn't make a difference. I do it for 22 when I'm a little shorter on time, but either time works. Enjoy!

      Fortunately for me my wife won't touch the stuff so there is more than enough for me. However, one could always add more chicken broth by increasing it in 1cup amounts. You don't want it to be a collard soup right! Thanks for the comment brother! Cheers!

      I buy "cheater greens" that are triple washed and have never found dirt or bugs in them, Ever. I agree that " real greens" need to be washed multiple times. I do find that some "cheater greens" depending on the brand are more stalky though.
