Hey Randy, senior master Ford tech here. Good thing about the 2.7, we hardly ever have a problem with that engine. Also, we add the factory brake controller all the time. It goes where that pocket is and it's just a change of personality options. Now the bad...... STAY AWAY FROM THE 10 SPEED TRANS!!!!!!! ITS COMPLETE JUNK!!!!! AT LEAST 3 TO 4 COME IN A WEEK WITH PROBLEMS. HAVE TO REBUILD THEM. STAY AWAY!!!!!! But Ford's warranty is 5yr 60,000 miles power train.
Hi I have a 2.7 with a 10 speed it’s more than a year old with 5600 miles 2 wheel drive. I don’t tow anything and I love how smooth it is when I drive it. Any suggestions for keeping it off the twin post.
Weird, I've heard great things about the 10 speed. Is every single 10 speed bad or were there various revisions over the years? I'm curious because the performance of the transmission is legendary and I would like to own a car with one some day.
@@tomcraftdonkey2285 the only ones we haven't had much problems with are the mustangs. The F150 and expedition at the worst. Ford has us rebuilding them. The CDF clutch drum bushing moves and causes extreme line pressure and blows out the seals on the inside
Yep, I have a 2016 2.7 6 speed and I've never had a single issue in 7 years of ownership. The 2.7 is a great engine!
For the 2.7 with the 10R80 transmission. The towing capability is not more than about 6k to 7 k lbs
Hey randy i heard this on Reddit about the 2.7 so take it with a grain of salt.
1. It has a fully compacted graphite iron block
2. Direct mounted turbos (less input lag)
3. Forged internals (pistons, crank, cams, etc)
4. Dual injection (reduces carbon buildup)
5. Electronic wastegates (reduces blow-by,
6. Top cartridge oil filter (easy to remove filter)
7. Internal exhaust manifold with coolant journals
heats up quick in the cold, keeps cool in the heat)
They started with port injection in 2018, and the wastegate serves the purpose of to controling boost pressure. It's what bypasses the exhaust gasses and prevents the turbo from spooling.
The coolant in the exhaust manifold is simply a port that feeds the turbocharger. Modern day turbochargers use coolant to help keep temperatures at bay and extend life. No other reason to run coolant through your exhaust manifold.
Randy, what you're saying GM is spot on. My brother has a new 2021 Chevy Silverado. This is a big truck and it has a 4 cylinder engine with the turbo under under 20,000 mi and he's already having severe transmission problems where it will slip when it's cold. GM told him this is normal for that vehicle because there's a service bulletin on it. I told him I would drive it through the showroom window. He spent big money on that truck and a transmission is already having issues
😂😂😂
When a manufacturer says it’s normal for that vehicle I trade it in on a different manufacturer vehicle!
@@XrayDeanWhen I hear a dealership said that’s normal, I’ll take that as we have no clue what’s the problem but we have a newer model of the same car.😂😂
Moral of the story: Don't buy a GM product after the Recession (2008 & up) and especially during Mary Barra's dictatorship.
Hey Randy, kudos so glad you’re back I was suffering from auto auction rebuilds withdrawal! That longhorn absolutely blows my mind! 404,000 miles and that interior is absolutely gorgeous and in incredible condition! $30,000 for a 404,000 mile vehicle you’ve got to be kidding!
Randy, as you've shared your past life experiences in other videos over the years, I think it's the chase and then being able to actually purchase a vehicle you like at the time is what does it for you. Let's be honest, you've purchased at least 10 maybe more high end vehicles for your own personal use and the excitement seem to wear off quickly soon after purchase. It's the complex as a result of having ones nose pressed against a store window staring at something they desired, but couldn't afford at one time in their life and then having the means to do so. The spending to get the vehicle, not the vehicle itself, is what excites you. I know as I've been there before myself. It's your prerogative and your channel interests and entertains many, including myself. I've watched you since the beginning. At least you are able to afford to do it. There are many out there who cannot and got themselves into a quandary spending way above their means only to find themselves in a financial disaster. It plays a big part in the state of the car market today. Repos galore!!
The difference for him is that any vehicle he purchases can be used as a tax write off and it provides content for a youtube channel that’s monetized by our views. He can follow his urges and make them profitable unlike you and I.
That's very true as well. More power to him for his ability to do so. What sets Randy apart from other UA-camrs who do similar kind of videos is that he has charisma and is very likable and entertaining to watch on a daily basis. Most people couldn't pull that off. I've watched other UA-camrs who just plain bore me. I can barely get through their vids. Not the case with Randy. Like my brother, who also has been an Uber driver, he appears to be an extrovert, which draws people in. I'm not like that myself, unfortunately.
36:58 so glad I finished my coffee otherwise it would have been all over my phone 😂
Randy just bought my 2nd F150 2.7 Ecoboost powered F150, first one 94k and not a single problem, not the first, driven easily you’ll get better than 20 mpg, get down on it and it moves real good! Love these lil motors!!!
Haha I figured you wouldn't mind the 2.7, its only got a little less horse and torque than the 3.5. Plus a tune on the 2.7 will bring numbers right there with the 3.5tt
Yep, the tuned 2.7s are fast.
Love watching your videos I learned a lot about cars by watching keep those videos coming you are the best
Hey Randy, I always love your content, you even got me looking at some Mercedes now!! Lol. I know you know this, but when you look at the fuel milage at the auctions, most of the readings that you see are also reflecting the vehicle idling. The fuel milage will definitely go up as you drive. Especially that 2.7.L. my brother just got his for his son and he's seeing 21+ mpg. Good content! Keep it up!!
Awesome job Thanks Randy for your update.
Randy, nice video. I'm looking forward to seeing your recent truck purchases.
It is a great story Randy and that sucks they treated you that way!!! I read about the owner he was just in it for money he had the dealer and was a cattle rancher so he had money. He passed away last year in April.
Good video. The 2.7 in an F-150 is pretty quick surprisingly. I had a couple of them for my business and I never had any issues with them. They also did a good job towing. If I remember correctly the F150 2.7 can tow up to 10,000 lb.
Pay no attention to negativity....... loving the content and I'm learning alot ........ all the way down here in 🇯🇲, whats up with mustang tho?
Definitely was a noticeable tick in the Escalade engine
I have a few in the family, who happened to own a Escalades I might have them watch this.vehicle thanks again for the update on these trucks.
Randy, i love the videos and i have been watching since the uberman days. When you where talking about the king ranch f150 you said that you had bought cars from carvana and you said you haven’t had a problem with them but didn’t the tesla model 3 that you bought from them have a water leak and horrible panel gaps. Anyway thank you for the great videos and i will keep loving and watching them.
I've had all fords from the 3.5 the 5.0 and the 2.7 ecoboost is my favorite peppy and fuel economy on the highway on mines is 22-27.
Randy:
Another outstanding video! Informative and entertaining.
Thanks!
Peace my friend,
DrRick
I've got a 2018 Ford Fusion Sport with the 2.7 twin turbo. The thing hauls ass, it is an absolute sleeper and incredibly fun. Of course it drinks gas like an alcoholic uncle drinks beer, but the smiles per gallon are worth it every time you step on it. It's also AWD, and a tank in the snow, and to top it off, it is loaded with everything imaginable for the year. I'd say the 2.7 is pretty slept on IMO, although probably not as ideal for towing as something else.
Randy, you could do Pickups and Corvettes all day long, I love it....And throw in some Jeeps while your at it! Thanks for the content!
My brother has a 2021 F150 2.7 4x4 and he towes a 1500lb trailer and all he haules all day long is new Range Rovers taking them for delivery, and that 2.7 F150 towes it as if it wasn't even there! It is a fantastic truck for towing, so don't let the smaller engine fool you, it's more powerful than you think!!!
Vary awesome collection indeed. Keep up the great work.
My edge has the 2.7 ecoboost Love it! It's been a super reliable motor, I've owned the car for 3 years now and I have put over 40k miles on the car.
Amen Randy it doesn't matter how expensive a vehicle you drive. I would love to have a couple new vehicles but being of average income my money means more to me to be used and invested wisely instead of frivolous purchases just to try and impress other people. I have only bought 1 new car in my life and that tought me to purchase good used vehicles and let someone else take the loss on the new car purchases.
Same here brother!!! I was very close at times buying a used high end car but with payments going beyond the $1000,- range it's not feasable for normal folks....glad Randy can afford it though. He drives and I dream....😅
That Escalade is pretty nice especially with the wheel lighting up when you started it. So cool.
This model actually has a hands-free feature, where you dont even need to touch the steering wheel for it to do autopilot. The cool steering wheel lights helps you keep track when it's active or off.
Hi randy, if you ever see any 2nd generation Mitsubishi Eclipse's at the yard i would love to see it in one of your videos. Especially a GSX if posssible. Love the videos!
Had a 2.7EB it’s a great truck. We have a 3.5EB now and honestly can’t tell then different until you get into it.
Randy on the F150 with the program FORSCAN you can add a stock trailer brake & if you don't have GPS you can program that in too along with a lot of other changes from the way the truck is now.
Much love and support from Boston ❤
I’ve never been a fan of Cadillac SUVs, haven’t heard much good about any of them except maybe the XT4, but I do love the sedans, the CTS, CT5, CT4, XTS, DTS, ATS, ect, I’ve had great experiences with all the ones I’ve owned.
Hi Randy, GM's active fuel management V8's are great.....for me, because when they collapse a lifter, I put a new lifter in and a Range disabler, and I drive a $50,000 or $60,000 truck or SUV for $2,000 or $3,000. Also, the shifter in that Escalade is silly, and I would have thought the neon lights on steering wheel was really cool when I was 16 years old
Hey Randy, I always love your content, you even got me looking at some Mercedes now!! Lol. I know you know this, but when you look at the fuel milage at the auctions,.
that was a great video Rebuilds 👍
Randy, I also had some trepidation about the 2.7 ecoboost, but after owning one for two years, I love it and at 75k, no problems whatsoever.
I am loving the truck content 👍🙂👍
Another great video sir. 👍
Love the videos randy ❤
Really realistic talk. Modern cars are complicated and unreliable, and spare parts are expensive. Thank you
The diesel escalades are scary too because they have a wet belt oil pump. that's right! An oil soaked belt, they deteriorate and clog the oil pickups and they are susceptible to failing because it's a belt soaked in oil.
Great stuff Randy, but I to think you should forget the Cadillacs there nothing but trouble. To many things to go wrong. 😎👌👍
Ransdy !!! On the f150 I think the trailer option is on the column shift lever
Trucks are cool with me keep them coming!
We love the truck content, Randy!
86k miles maybe 87k miles on my 6.2.. it's a 2018 though and it runs great. They do have issues with AFM and the transmission if you get get that other t-stat installed but I made sure to hit them early. Mine is also in a Silverado cause I'll admit, I'm too broke for a 'lade.
I like the trucks...never get tired of them.
Nice show randy love from Africa Kenya...
All that Escalade is, is a Chevrolet Suburban with all the bells and whistles all dressed up.
Keep the truck coming brother im in the market right now
I drove my 17 F150 4x4 with the 3.5 600 miles this weekend with about 70% interstate and the rest two lane this weekend and averaged 22.6 running +5 on all posted speeds. The 2.7 will do better. I don't know what it will get towing, but mine averaged 18.3 pulling a 17 GT on a U-Haul trailer for 300 miles at the same +5.
TBH i love trucks so i dont mind these types of videos keep up the good work 👍
I think it’s always best to separate your “wants” from your “needs”. For example: I need a tow vehicle, I have a 2004 Chevy crew cab dually with the Duramax diesel. It’s not the most fancy truck, but it’s all the tow vehicle I will ever need, so that’s taken care of. Now I can concentrate on what I want…. I already have most of that, but I don’t have to worry about the tow vehicle issue.
Love the truck content. Looking for a 10k deal like you got for new business.
Great channel brother!
8:15-8:25 I totally agree with you Randy. When I initially bought my 1994 Volkswagen Golf Mk3 with the N/A 1.9 SDI engine I had two of my family members tell me theres better things to buy like a Kia from 2009 or something else that newer than an old car to them. And while this vehicle is incredibly slow paced, It has one of the most incredible and indestructible engines in VW's existence and this has been proven on many occasions, such as ours having two of the same Golfs with the same engine currently both pushing 500000km on just regular servicing without the big annual services. This car is the most fun, cheap to maintain and reliable car I have ever owned and don't plan on selling it, I don't care if its not flashy or cool by any standards and that its almost 30 years old next year. All I need is a good reliable car that I know won't leave me stranded and if it does, the repairs atleast will run me up from 20$ all the way to max 130$.
So far the only issues my parents had with their Golf was just a busted Oil filter housing and they needed a new Bosch pump. Mine needed the clutch serviced and other things were regular servicing of things, I've had this car for one and a half years now
I remember that new corvette video. Crazy man.
Still has the turbo lag and does it really do well with a load on it?
That's one of the truly best part about your channel,is your onions seriously truck, one hundred thousand dollars and both engine and transmission will Fair not very good, but if you're a mechanic or trans man like man self that the best new all day, nothing like more money in my pocket thank GM appreciate your mess up vichicle ,or should I say I appreciate the extra work you provided me.
Randy please don’t explain yourself to anyone! You have the right to privacy and also to buy whatever you want. People are just haters and jealous. Please keep doing you and ignore these crazy trolls. Get a life to the people that have nothing better to do then worry about other people’s finances. LOSERS! Randy your the best brother! Keep pushing 😊
good for the Ram dually, with it's issues, you may get a great deal.
with my 2015 f150 xlt 3.5l ecoboost if you remove the little pocket there the trailer break harness is plugged into there if you get a oem break controller and plug it in the dealer can program it into the system mine doesnt come stock with a brake either
You're going to be seeing a lot more rentals at DAA OKC, but they aren't going to be for sale at physical auction. ACV has entered the building.
In the black Cadillac that is wrecked that is injector for earlier, or possibly a misfire
that escalade might be a blessing for Mike compared to his current one!
Randy,I love the comment,"great engine ,aside fro]m the fact that it will eventually blow up.😂
I have a Ram 1500 Tradesmen 2013 with a v6 I get 23 mpg driving from Fairbanks to Anchorage Alaska. In town I get 16 mpg 19 mixed
love the videos, i agree about gm.
Please review the Toyota 4 Runners. I love those trucks!
Can you trade in some of your truck fleet to not be upside down on the ram 3500 ? Then get a newer one with 1/2 the payment.
I know it's pricey. I'm thinking it'd be all over that F150 2.7 EcoBoost. Now you covered some ground of this video!
Hello Randy. The 2021 Nissan Titan is a good looking truck. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade 600 is a good looking SUV.
Hey Randy where you all the time on you tube love you selection of cars and truck.Which state are you in.
That Genesis and the Dodge truck are nice 👍
Check out, East Coast Classics he did a good video talking about the DOD system and the other manufacturers who use similar systems.
(Displacement on Demand-DOD Repair cost and Return on Investment)
30:52, it's definitely in good condition, but it is showing its age, all Diesel Leak, someone must have resealed it.
Probably when they did the EGR Delete.
Im a ford tech and own a 2.7 with the 6r80 & the 2.7 is probably the most reliable engine you can buy on a f150 (aside from the NA v6)
Think that f 150 has been idling a lot and city driving. My f 150 with 5.0 gets around 19 to 21 highway with cruise set at 70. And I never get tired of looking at all trucks
Love youre videos
Randy. I kept telling you, dont sleep on the 2.7. Its a great engine.
I’ve owned all 3 of the f150 engines. The 3.5 had cam phaser issues at 60k then lost a turbo at 70k. Traded it in and got a used 2.7. Had 80k on it and I ran it to 140k with zero issues. It also had the “max tow package” so came with the big fuel tank and not sure what else(gearing maybe) Towed a 16 foot enclosed and hauled a single car almost weekly. It was a great truck. Then came the 2019 5.0😢 oil consumption was horrendous. All were very nice trucks but I have to give it to the 2.7. Super reliable and did everything I asked of it
2.7 is generally faste than even the 3.5 to 60 mph. It will always be faster than the 5.0. It has sooo much bottom end torque!! The motor was designed as a turbo diesel is designed. The block is the same alloy as the 3.0 Vulcan Diesel !! The 2.7 is surprisingly stout and likely the most reliable of the basically 3 motors you want in a F150. It doesn’t have the highest towing ratings, but it will tow what you are towing, no questions.
Yes they are
You need to show Tundras. I always watch your videos. Good content
I have a 2019 f150 and they get better mileage than what that one has. Towed a 1600 pound popup camper to the cape and back and got 18.6 mpg. It's all in knowing how to drive.
So does either one of those trucks you bought make a good work truck?
My son Silverado 2.7turbo 310/430tq.. feels every bit as good as a 5.3L and tows just as much!
It is all good sir everyone makes or says glitches so no big deal.👍
You might be thinking of the 3.7l cyclone engine Ford puts in the work vans like the Transit. It's a tried and true motor, but its a tad bit underpowered and not as impressive in the towing category as the Ecoboost variants.
He has had his share of those vehicles.👍
That kinda sounded like the direct injection injectors ticking vs noisy lifters.
You are 100% correct I own a 2019 Silverado with the 5.3 and know others. They all make that noise and I don’t worry about it. Honestly I don’t think you’ll have a issue if you actually change the oil when your supposed to. A lot of people put off changing their oil
That cummins is a seriously nice truck. For 20k id buy it all day even with the miles
This video was shared 5 days after being filmed that’s crazy we always think we are caught up with our favorite UA-camrs but they do things in advanced
I don't know what the trailer bank is for i've been hauling several trailers for the last seven years, and none of my trucks have trailer breaks
The 2.7 vs 3.5 is only a 50 horsepower and 70lb ft torque difference. The 2.7 can out perform any V8 made 15+ years ago lol. The torque is kinda insane on them. It'll pull almost at the speed of idle, it has the kind of torque that makes you think, is this a Hybrid?
The haters are most likely broke I can't definitely vouch for your channel yes this guy had some fly Expensive vehicles respect his gangster
Love the trucks
They make everything Cheaper now to sell more. The old ones lasted longer.
Coming from an Escalade owner I agree the 6.2 v8 sucks they always have have that lifter tick from mile 1, but the 3.0 diesel is excellent
Want that Lexus!! Don. G in wv
Hey randy. Just an idea. I know you have a crazy busy schedule with your uploads. Ever thought of going live and having a q&a? Maybe once a month or every two months? Just a thought. Been following since wayyy back uber days.
