I enjoyed the video , lot of useful information. I remember reading a article in a magazine about the introduction of the 5.9 cummins to a Dodge and I told my Dad back then , he bought one I. Decatur in a couple days . I had no idea who did the first prototype. As for the brakes I got a 95 4x4 I doing the 3rd generation front brakes with a 2001 front axle . Your right about the chev rear wheel cylinders. I did the hydrobooster system and it helped braking . You might at some point consider a exhaust brake. Also give the engine some timing say 17 or 18 deg . That helped my 95 get a lot better mileage.. As far as towing may be installed a set of air bags on the rear also. I installed a g56 in my truck and replaced a burned up 47rh. Don't regret that a bit .. Your build is really nice a lot of talent went into this .

I had a 2014 Ram 3500HD with the 6.7 Cummins with the Aisin 6 speed automatic, crew cab, long bed, and it was single rear tire. It was a 9300 lb truck with me in it, and I towed a 36' flatbed gooseneck trailer in it. I was EXTREMELY hard on that truck as I used it to haul equipment in the oilfield with it in the West Virginia/Pennsylvania/Ohio tri-state area, so it got beaten up on the hills and mountains. I put 195,000 miles on it in a year and a half and the only real issues I had was when reverse went out in the transmission, and I shattered the front diff in 4WD low trying to rock the truck and trailer out of a mud pit that I accidentally sank into on a dirt road in the Allegheny Forest. Those were both repaired under warranty though. I really loved that truck. It hauled over 35,000 lbs for hours long trips on many occasions without a single issue. It gained alot of respect from me. I never even had the change the batteries.

I was looking for this episode a year or two ago. I have a 24 valve dually. Every body panel is beat but the frame is rust free and the 5.9 Cummins is stock and runs great. I’m going to start looking for a dent side.
you should post videos on your progress if you do something like this. i think the key here is to find a cab that fits (well) and flat bed it or something so you really only need to worry about the front wheels falling into the wheel wells.
Long ago, I bought a used 1968 Pontiac StratoChief, a plain brown 4 dr sedan with a bench seat, stunningly having been equipped with a 325 HP chevy 396, backed with a Muncie M21 4-speed manual! Best sleeper ever!
I've swapped pickup bodies from different years and different makes a number of times. One thing I disagree with is how they started at the rear by installing the box and then they had to deal with fine tuning the axle and fender opening locations at the front. It is much easier to shift the rear axle location than to shift the front wheel locations so I always started at the front and finished off by adjusting the rear axle location at the end. Edit: Wow, that turned into a HUGE job (I wrote the above after watching about 30 minutes). The attention to detail and finished product is impressive! Around here older 2wd trucks are almost worthless, so what I've done is buy a freshly painted 2wd pickup and swapped the body to a 4wd. None of my swaps have required anywhere near this level of customization.
I'm a Dodge guy, but I would have used the Cummins power train and picked up a Ford F250/350 chassis. The Ford chassis ride and handle better than the Dodge.

@16:13 he's talking about all the things they are going to use from the Dodge including the dash and other things, What I don't understand is why didn't they just cut the full firewall under the windshield along the inner side of the cab along the door jam's all the way to the back of the cab. keeping the floors, firewall, dash, front seat 💺💺, and stock mounting all wiring placements, then cut the firewall and floors out of the Ford and fit the two together and you have everything needed for ac/ heating ,wiring everything newer in the classic body. Budget build would have really used everything from both trucks to build one really nice tow rig...

You’ve got a talent tinting windows and an impressive gift for communication and tutoring. Thank you for the unexpected bonus- Keep on keep’n it real.
Aside from our disagreement on the rear main seal, I have to admit if this was 4wd, it would be the perfect truck! Man, I am madly in love with this truck... don't tell my husband, but girls love trucks lmao!!!
I can remember a diesel pickup in Wenatchee in the 60's. I thought it rediculous having a truck engine in a pickup. I thought the engine was one of those 7 liter jobs, not realizing he could get 20 miles to the gallon when cruising the Ave. What made it rediculous was the 18 wheeler sound coming from the front and rear of this playtoy, not realizing how practical it really was.
I just installed a 5 kw heat kit on a new bard unit that was installed recently pulling 22 amps adding that sequencer to let the fan run longer is smart instead of the limit switch

Who's stopping You?
Go out, and pick up some yard art, and a marketplace wreck, and build what you want.
I used to drive a mildly modified 97 3500 ext cab 4x4 dodge dually for a previous employer, that thing was a beast.
🔥🚛 This collaboration between Ryan and Kevin is a true masterpiece! The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail in this build is simply outstanding. From the seamless integration of the '70s Ford Crew Cab onto the Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel chassis to the flawless finish, every aspect is immaculate. This is a must-watch for any automotive enthusiast. Get ready to be blown away by their incredible work! 🙌👏💯

You guys are so lucky to have access to tools and contacts. You can build anything with those.
Love seeing experienced professionals at work. Make it look easy. Good work!
@16:13 he's talking about all the things they are going to use from the Dodge including the dash and other things,
What I don't understand is why didn't they just cut the full firewall under the windshield along the inner side of the cab along the door jam's all the way to the back of the cab. keeping the floors, firewall, dash, front seat 💺💺, and stock mounting all wiring placements, then cut the firewall and floors out of the Ford and fit the two together and you have everything needed for ac/ heating ,wiring everything newer in the classic body. Budget build would have really used everything from both trucks to build one really nice tow rig...
Impressive. An excellent job on the VW for sure, but the delivery and explanations are outstanding. I enjoyed watching you work, and even though I’ve tinted a windows previously that came out good I learned quite a bit more than I expected here. You’ve got a talent tinting windows and an impressive gift for communication and tutoring. Thank you for the unexpected bonus- Keep on keep’n it real.
Just some cool ideas from your fan Tallie wills thanks for all you guys do ..
I don't think a 79 ever had round headlights. Mid 78 I thought they switched to square?
not mid year. 78 customs came with round. all others and all 79 had square.
77 - round pod round lamp
78 - square pod round lamp
79 square pod square lamp
I actually think it looked better in the black primer . Cool truck though!!
Lot of works in this project, but the result it's very gorgeous!👏👏❤
Great show! Beautiful truck. I think a great name for it would have been Fordged Steel Super Dually. 😜👍🏼
Amazing, awesome, love it. Thank you guys!
Watched that build on tv.... took a long, long time
you guys are the best and the best at fixing car's.
Thanks!
The family’s excitement over going to Disneyland was crazier than she anticipated.
Just finished this. Really a cool and well thought out execution.
It's an Easter miracle. I've got 3 hours of entertainment to watch.
"kind of hard to find" is an understatement. That's a one of a kind😍
Anyone else wake up to this video?
I left my TV playing UA-cam all night and woke up to this 3hour vid, but I like this kind of content so I don’t mind lol 😂
Napped n woke up at 11pm..weird
Lmao yes
Yep
Yep. Fell asleep at about 9 pm. I woke up at about 1 am. halfway through the video and stade up watching the other half. Nice truck.
I just installed a 5 kw heat kit on a new bard unit that was installed recently pulling 22 amps adding that sequencer to let the fan run longer is smart instead of the limit switch
You guys sure built a cool truck enjoyed the full 3 hours ❤
Awesome build, great looking and performing truck. Terrific wheels. 1000hrs x $40/hr = $40,000 labor. But, this is a 100% totally Custom truck build, so that makes this final product a Truck that truly is "Priceless".
“We build trucks on a budget just like you would at home!” *has 10 award winning car builders attack the truck body*
😂
That all would make you pay 200 an hour lol
I think a winch set into the bottom of the front bumper would be a really cool touch.
Ralphie from Sleeper Dude 88 would wear that Ford necklace to school. I'm not joking.
