Don’t let the hater’s sway you. The 3.6 liters from GM have issues and the same from Chrysler. They all have issues. The 2.7 fords have pretty much gone through the “birth defects by now lol! Keep keeping on bro!
The weathertech mats on the vinyl floor is so that it's easier to clean out.
also years worth of workboots do eventually dig holes in the vinyl, mats are just that bit easier to replace!

'03 Grand Marquis Ultimate trim: You got super nice leather seats, digital dash, air ride in the rear. The other trims had coils in the back and an analog dash. Arnott Industries is your friend on the air suspension. They rebuild those air bags. It takes longer to jack the car up and take the tire off than it does to change the air bag. You gotta change them before the air compressor melts down. The compressor has a plastic piston and it's not meant to run continuously. It's working now so change the bags and away you go.

Panther platform has a cult following for a good reason. I like the body on frame design. It has a reputation of durability earned with millions of miles by the cops and taxi fleets.

Love the last F150, very nice blue. I am British so we dont really get them that much here in England. few Raptors but mostly Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara and VW Amarok etc... if we want to tow something we tend to go for such as Landrover which are also good off road but you do need extra cash for the predictable repairs. all in my opinion of course and i could easily be wrong

The trailer assist is to help you back up the trailer and does not have break controllers on it. Usually the 2.7 does not have break controller. You are right it needs the push switch below the backup switch.
Grey Lariat: Those two buttons to the left of the steering wheel aren't for blind spot. They turn on the lights on the side of the mirrors as an exterior work light.
Those Panther platforms always sell, people like these for their smooth ride and reliability.

I remember during the recession of 1993 in MA when all employers got rid of employee for cost cutting, and no one is hiring, I saw people drove their brand news Ford F-150, Crown Victoria, Mercury that they just brought recentlt back to the dealer and thrown the key at the front door of sale department. I also the whole complex of the new home forclosure for none payment. I lost my 10 years with top company and forced to leave my home 2 years later!

The trailer pro backup assist on the Fords is a system where you turn the knob, and the steering wheel turns in the direction of the knob to shorten the amount you are having to turn the steering wheel multiple times around to back up the trailer. Personally, I think it’s kind of strange and a little bit unnecessary. But to each their own.
That sounds absolutely stupid.
Grand marquis easy fix might be a blown bag . Replace the bag or put coil springs in and call it a day

You are very smart to post so many videos. Make sure you mix them up with walk arounds, purchases and projects. Remember that dually you showed us recently that had over 400K miles? If you could buy that cheap it would be a great project for you to review its condition after all those miles and see if it could be a viable truck to own.

I personally think the Panther cars will sky rocket in value one day. They are the last true American car. Right now is the time to get one. The Crown Vic Sport especially. As close to a Marauder as you could get, sans the powertrain.
Those work truck rubber floors are a godsend.
The 2015 Ford F-150 is a nice truck has a few issues but may be a good work truck.👍
I have that same Grand Marquis right now, but it is a 2009. Has around 180K on it. I converted the air ride to coils and new springs around 6 years ago.

If you get the 2.7 you will be surprised!! Especially if you are empty and up to 70 mph, it’s the quickest truck! That changes a bit once you re loaded up. That low end torque!!

The STX is just a appearance package but i have a 2021 f150 stx with the 3.5 ecoboost and the 10 speed auto and i was pleasantly surprised with the power and torque. I do have the trailer brake controller in it

I love the Panther Platform if I had a big piece of land and unlimited money I would buy every CV, GM and LTC I came across I currently own a 2005 Grand Marquis and I love it. I’m shocked that the cup holder ain’t broke and A/C that’s most likely the Dryer being rusted causing it to leak that’s the most common issue with these
6:56 I have Custom Rhino Liner Floor Mats in My 2020 F-250 Crew. Rubber Floor Mats or no, You absolutely cannot beat the convenience of popping it out to dump the dirt/mud collected at work. Then wipe the rubber floor boards out with an auto sponge. No muss no fuss.
Very easy to clean mud from feet WHEN you take out the weather tech mats out of the truck. Factory floor mats are major job to take out to clean! You can tell country people from "concrete babies" born and raised in city than out of city.

I put the weather tech mats to control melting snow from boots from getting all over because they have a lip around them ! Also it helps in the spot your heal sits by accelerator pedal from wearing through the rubber floor.

STX is somewhere between an XL and XLT. It's an appearance package mostly. I have a 2012 STX that was originally sold in Canada (bought it in Ohio). Mine has the cloth interior and the basic sync system with just the little 2 line LCD. But, it also has the max tow package (HD springs and trailer brake controller included), 4x4, 3.5L ecoboost, and a rear locking differential.

randy im a car detailer by trade and i would do the same with the floor mats over the vinyl floors to protect them because they can get all damaged by wear and tear overtime like on the drivers floor where you get in and out of the vehicle all the time and drag your feet etc maybe the previous owners cared about the truck... great walk around
The merc,new air ride system, complete full tune up,very nice new tires,wet sand and buff wax the paint,that'd be a dream
that dial steers the truck for the trailer, its a fancy option to make backing up with a trailer easier. You have to put a bar code on the trailer first to set it up.
STX is an appearance package for XL trim trucks, basically makes them look better than the regular XL.

The pro trailer backup assist knob: steers the truck in reverse, if you want the trailer to go left simply turn the knob left. If you want the trailer to go right turn the knob to the right.
It makes it simpler for beginners.
Yes you are missing it. It's called trailer mode ! Try looking at owners manual. The normal key switch is located behind the steering wheel just like the on/off start button.
I love that you caught the Impala bug, really want you to land an LTZ or premier with the heated & cooled seats & heated steering wheels! Would also be interesting to see you bring an SS to the channel.
When I used to buy Lincoln's and Mercury's for my lot when the air ride in the rear was not working we would put regular shocks on it and that cured the problem

3.5 EB's in the years you have been looking at have huge cam phaser issues (15-20). so bad the parts aren't even in stock to fix it. those 2.7's seem to be pretty good in the F150's even when they have become a bit of an issue in the broncos later on.
The airbags are probably blown on that 03 MGM. It's a cheap fix. You can either replace the airbags or do the conversion to shocks and springs in the rear.
Get the suspension off a Crown Vic, preferably the Police Interceptor and that MGM would shine again.
That trailer back up assist helps you back up a trailer easier
It's cool the bought the floor liners even if the dually was a rubber floor,means he truly wanted to keep it clean as possible and make it clean up easier
The trailer backup assist is sort of like a extra steering method but under it has a standard pinch trailer brake
7:17 it really isn’t weather resistant flooring maybe it’s because my Chevy work truck, but the factory flooring will be trash if you work in the mud a lot. I do work in the mud a lot in some concrete plants and construction sites. So putting weather tech floor mats do help make cleaning the interior much much easier.

STX is a package of dress up and convenience items on a base XL truck.
No trailer brake is odd, the backup assist knob steers the wheels while in reverse.

I have a 2018 XLT Sport 4X4 with the 2.7 and trailer tow package. That package gives you a bigger cooling system for the engine and transmission and adds the trailer brake controller. I also have the trailer backup assist and have never set it up, in my opinion if you can't backup a trailer with mirrors you have no business pulling a trailer lol. I have pulled a 16 ft trailer with two 900 lb Harleys in it from Iowa to North Carolina a couple times and got 14 mpg driving 65-70. Over 70 it drops down to 12 mpg, this is figuring by hand although the dash is pretty close. Not hauling a trailer I get 18 to 20 depending on driving conditions.
I don't hate the idea of the weathertech floormats on top of factory rubber floors. It'll only help to preserve the original truck if that's what you like to do.

Randy for those truck trailer brake was an option. They are inexpensive from ford. It may due to due to the fact that the 2.7 can only pull a max towing of 7k
As a large dude I love my Grand Marquis. I got a 2008 in pristine condition a couple years ago and it's a great replacement for my 1996 Impala SS.

I would take the 6 speed transmission over the 10th speed any day I can't stand the way those 10 speed shift and the way they are always looking for a gear makes it feel like there is something wrong with the transmission. The end of the day I believe the 6 speed is more reliable and a lot cheaper to replace if needed.
People will put weathertech floormats or something similar over the rubber floors because the rubber floors are tucked under trim pieces and cut out around seat mounts and water gets under there and will eventually start to mold and smell.. having weathertech mats on top keeps that from happening

I have a 2015 Kingranch f150, as far as I know the ones in the video with the trailer back up assist knobs doesn’t have trailer brakes built in. I have trailer brakes on my 15 and it’s just like the normal oem trailer brakes on most other trucks. The buttons with the mirror icons at 19:09 are for the led lights in the mirrors. If you turn the headlights on you can press the buttons and the leds will turn on. Also the rear sliding back glass track falling out is a common issue on some of the f150s, I got mine fixed for $80 at a local auto glass shop.
4 high doesn't work past 35 mph anyway.
You can pull the traction control relay under the hood which controls the 4wd and traction control. Then feel free to rip and rare in the mud hole and have 4 wheeling fun.

Those switches under the left dash vent are for lights that light up mailboxes etc on either side of the cab.

@28:50 THANK YOU! finally someone said it. if you don't know how to back up a trailer then practice on a open area it takes time but it work that's how I did it now it's easy for me to do, that back up assets I'm sorry but no it doesn't make it better in my opinion.

The 2.7l you need to have the lines checked at the turbos. They have screens that like to plug up and damage the turbos due to oil starvation. Look closely at its maintenance records closely.
I came across a video where they tore down a truck 2.7l to seewhat caused the oil starvation on it, and come to discover a "wet-rubber belt driven oil pump".
Ford trailer backup that you aren’t able to figure out is when you’re backing up a trailer, you turn it on and turn that knob to where you want the trailer and it’ll steer itself. I know this because I used to have an f-150 lariat, and my uncle has an f-150 fxr. But I never use it, I like backing up trailers the old fashioned way
