For me, Steve was always Journey, no one could replace him.
Neal Schon a great guitarist and Jonathan Kean perfect on the piano but also on the guitar on some songs and Steve Smith on the drums also did the perfect job

1: It has always struck me as strange that Cain did a long piano solo spot at the END of the song.
2: I have a fairly extensive Journey/Perry collection. Tons of stuff like posters, backstage passes, signed vinyl, tour jackets, original artwork by Stanley Mouse for the front of the albums, and Steve Perry's For The Love of Strange Medicine...VINYL.
This song was written by Neal Schon, Steve Perry, and Jonathan Cain. It is about the early life of Neal Schon. Even though it seems so sad....it gives you hope as the verse ends with, "Don't you know I'm alive for you. I'm your seventh son and when lightning strikes the family; have faith, believe."
