Steve is called the voice for a reason, one of the best bands out there.
Perfect vocals and pre-autotune times.
Amen!
It chaps me that so many reactors don’t acknowledge how Steve hits the high notes in the guitar solo!!!
exactly !!!
how about what Steve does in Something To Hide? 😮😮💣
So many times he soars in their songs...the end of Mother Father is a prime example.
See 8:00 in. He acknowledged it!
Exactly Thomas....but I think it has more to do with the fact that they don't recognize the fact that it is Steve Perry hitting the note and not the instruments
I think Amber would really like “Faithfully” and you’d appreciate it too, Jay!
This is my all time favorite Journey tune and apparently I’m not alone. This one and Lights were two of the most requested and downloaded hits of all time.
What amazes me is I’m a second soprano but when Steve Perry goes into his upper register while accompanying the guitarist, mhe holds those 3 notes for 8 full bars. That’s unheard of even in my training in opera.
Journey's keyboardist in the 1970's, Gregg Rolie, was originally in Santana. Gregg Rolie actually sang for Santana at Woodstock 1969.
Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', Send Her My Love, Chain Reaction, Still They Ride, Any Way You Want It, I'll Be Alright Without You, Open Arms, Who's Cryin' Now, Faithfully...sooooo many! This isn't even live. You should hear him live. It's crazy because he sounds absolutely the same in the studio as out.
Nobody sings like Steve Perry. Some of my favorite songs. Only the Young, Faithfully, and Send her my love, Many many more.
Stone In Love.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaa haaaaa.... gawd...
Steve Perry, best Rock voice of the 70's, 80's, 90's and probably still today.. ♠W.G.
@@wgdavis5353 Ummm... Nooo...
@@gregponder8332 Well whom is better?? ♠W.G.
He has got to have the greatest rock voice EVER.i can't believe though you didn't think"don't stop believing"wasn't all that???🤔🤔🤔
Steve is the VOICE of rock. There’s no one like him. Vocal perfection. Emotional.
One of the best bands FORMED in the 1970s
I hate how people hate Journey because "Don't Stop Believin'" was overplayed. But Journey got some bangers, and this is one of them!
They don't call Steve Perry "The Voice" for nothing. Those notes he's hitting during Neil's guitar solo in insane.
That's why steve perry is called the voice!!!
I really can't believe this is the only Journey song you have reacted to. Journey is like THE band of the 80s, and this isn't even their best or most famous song. If you REALLY want to go on the Journey journey (see what I did there?) then you need to listen to Don't Stop Believin', Separate Ways , Faithfully, Who's Crying Now, and Open Arms... to start. You really can't say you've experienced the music of the 1980s until you have heard those. (Of course I'd be pretty surprised if you haven't already heard Don't Stop Believin' at least once in your life by this point.)
Going through my second bout of cancers. Last time stage 2, this time stage 3. Listening to Steve's voice always takes me back to when I was 12 and he had just joined. It takes me back to the simpler and worry free life. Many have tried to imitate him and lost that battle. He is the VOICE, GOAT, ICON and National Treasure!
I’ve been to a few Journey concerts and one of the best parts is the crowd always sings “for tomorrow”.
It really hurt my feelings when you said your mom was born around 1978! I was born in '75
No one sings like Steve Perry...the voice...my sister's favorite band...you have to listen to Faithfully, Send Her My love, the live version of I'll Be Alright Without You...and Steve Perry's Oh, Sherrie....and of course, Don't Stop Believin'...and so Many More....by the way this was the first song we ever heard by Journey...it was a musical special on PBS many years ago...
Steve Perry had to leave the band because of a back injury he sustained while walking in a volcano in Hawaii. He slipped and fell
and had to take a sabbatical. The rest of the band didn't want to wait and miss a tour so had to get someone else. They went
through a couple of guys that didn't work out. Eventually Johnathon Cain saw Arnel Pineda on UA-cam and called Neil Schon
and you gotta listen to this guy. The band he was playing in while in Hong Kong was "Wheel in the Sky". Almost perfect.
Lead singer Steve Perry ....guitar Neal Schon....keyboard Gregg Rolie....bass guitar Ross Valerie....drums Steve smith...
Neil Schon, the guitarist, is criminally underrated. Neil and the original lead singer/keyboard player, Greg Rollie, started with Carlos Santana.
Journey with Steve Perry "The Voice" are amazing. You will be blown away by these musicians but mostly by Steve Perry's vocal range. Neal Schon on guitar omg! Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain and Neal wrote all their songs! Listen to "Still They Ride", "Mother Father", "when you love a woman" "Faithfully". Try the live from Houston version of Don't Stop Believin' , that whole concert album is perfection. Journey fans will say they sound just as great if not better live!
Here are more- Open Arms, Faithfully, Oh Sherrie, Lovin Touchin Squeezing, When you Love a Woman, Who's Crying Now, Separate Way's. ETC
Some of their songs,Who’s crying now, Open arm’s, Separate ways
Separate ways is my favorite one from them.
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) is a MUST REACT VIDEO!
That is the same singer Steve Perry
Bruh in this video you have pure “Greatness”
On the Keyboards is Greg Rollie, On Lead Guitar is Neal Schon
Both were original members of the Legendary “Santana”
They formed Journey and Steve Perry known as “The Cleanest Pipes in the Business”
They had “Numerous Hits!” Not One Lol
Fun Song “Stone in Love”
Beautiful Song “ Send Her My Love”
On Santana with the 2 Journey members playing, Song - Black Magic Woman
You won’t be disappointed in that at all! It’s Groovylicious 🎵😊✌️
Separate ways was my all time favorite Journey song!!!! Listen to that one too!
Steve Perry, better known as The Voice, enough said. Many many great hits by this band.
Fuck Steve's voice is too good.
I'm a metal head and his voice is the equivalent of Dimebag Darrell perfecting his pinch harmonic squeals. Just chills from head to toe
How many lead vocalists put that much effort in being the 'background singer' for a guitar solo? Awesome stuff!
Another song to add, but be surprised about the bass player, "Girl Can't Help It".
The original lead vocalist was Greg Rollie, who is the keyboardist in this video. Oh, and by the way, the lead guitarist, Neal Schon was playing for Carlos Santana as a teenager!
I was lucky enough to have a friend give me and my best friend tickets to see Journey in Chicago in 1982, for our high school graduation. Great show.
My absolute FAVORITE GROUP! LIGHTS is a song you should hear. Open Arms is another. Faithfully also.
Steve Perry has the Absolute Greatest Voice of Rock and Roll! 🎼🎤👑
"Wheel In The Sky" is the theme of the British comedy, "Absolutely Fabulous" created, written, and starring Jennifer Saunders. It aired on PBS in the 90s and on Comedy Central in 2000s; now, repeats air on BBC America.
Steve Perry still brings smiles and sometimes tears. He is sooo damn good.
Anything from their 1981 live in Houston concert.
And also STEVE PERRY ❤️🥰😍 The voice, the hair, the beauty of the man...ummmm yeah. Love him.
Journey"When You Love A Woman" beautiful song
That noise during the guitar solo was Steve Perry wasn't a guitar or an effect, that was his VOICE.
Lights, Faithfully, Lovin Touching Squeezin
"Feelin' that way/anytime" is a great way to get to know Greg Rollie (keyboard, vocals) as well. He came from Santana (sang black magic woman) along with Neil Schon (guitarist). Neil was somewhat of a child protege. He joined Santana at the tender age of 15. He shreds! Anyway, Greg's voice is very different from Steve's, very smooth and buttery! Sadly, Greg being one of the founding members, didn't care for the changes to the band Steve was making and left.
I've always LOOOOOVED *JOURNDY.. My FAVORITE IS DEFINITELY "Send he my love"!!
This is the first Journey song I ever heard..I was helping my dad wash the family car and truck. I was in high school…couldn’t wait to buy the album!
Faithfully, Open arms, lights!!!!! My fave band wver!!! Saw them twice in Houston!
So many Journey songs came out when I was a teenager and I never would've thought in a million years that 'Don't Stop Believin' would be the one they'd be remembered for! It was fun and okay, but not anywhere close to their mega hits like 'Wheel In The Sky' and 'Lovin Touchin Squeezin'. So, yep, you got it right. Can U two react to 'Lovin Touchin Squeezin' by them? So fun!! Also, my son was born in 1993 and when he was a teenager he got into so much classic rock from the 70's and early 80's. He listened to current stuff too, but he loved rocking out to the song, 'Any Way You Want It' because the lyrics have a hidden sexual tone, lol.
If the famous song you refer to is Don’t Stop Believin’ then yes it is the same lead singer, Steve Perry. I recommend Open Arms, Separate Ways, Lovin’ Touchin Squeezin’.
Separate Ways!
open arms is so good
This is their best song. In hall of fame.
Whole bunch of hits wih this group. Journey one of the greats.
Interesting fact about the band, Greg Rolie (keyboards and vocals) and Neal Schon (Guitarist with Fro) both came from the Band Santana, Greg actually sang the song "Black Magic woman"
This tune is off of arguably Journey's best album, Infinity. It was the fist album with Steve Perry as the lead singer. Neal Schon and Greg Rolie were members of Santana for awhile.
Journey songs to react to: Who's Crying Now, Lovin Touchin Squeezin, Mother Father, Faithfully and When You Love A Woman!
Faithfully it's beautiful!!!
Dude Steve can sing like 5 octaves 😆, no joke!! He's incredible.
Ummm, no he can't. He has very good range, but only about 3 octaves. He cannot sing deep bass or high soprano notes. 5 octaves would cover more than the entire basso profundo, bass, tenor, alto, and soprano ranges.
@@cjzito I was being sarcastic, I forgot we gotta be 100% accurate these days. In his younger days he was pretty amazing though
He can actually do 7 octaves and did almost 7 full bars in this one, higher and longer than most opera artists.
@@cjzitowrong!
Given props to whoever called out " Still They Ride". That song is so underated and never got the attention it deserves! One of their very best ever written;!
totally agree with you. that is my goto late night drive song....especially if I need to think about things....
It just bleeds emotion and takes you to "that" place.
Absolutely one of my favorites!
It is underrated I just heard it the other day and I totally forgot about it but I love all their music I can't pick a favorite because I love them all and I love his voice and I love him. Peace
Still They Ride is underrated just heard the other day and I so love it and was like yeah all the music's great I forgot about that one I don't know how
On keyboards is Greg Rolle. he was with Santana at Woodstock in 1969. Check out Santana live at Woodsock performing "Soul Sacrifice". A timeless classic.
The 70s were so much fun. Don't you love our fashion😎 Steve Perry was known as the Voice.
In defense of silk robes, they are _very_ comfortable.
Yes, this is Steve Perry who sings Don't Stop Believing also. He's also known as "The Voice"!
The best lineup for Journey ever. With Greg Rollie on keyboards AND VOCALS!!! And this song was a massive hit as the entire Infinity album was.
The reason "Feeling That Way" and "Anytime" are often played back-to-back is for the same reason Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid" are as well. The pause between the two tracks is so brief that radio stations would just let the next song play rather than lift the needle. Anyway, that's my reasoning for reacting to "Feeling That Way/Anytime" as one. The two songs are uploaded together many times here on YT.
Same with ZZ Top's Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago
Please please do more Journey!! Steve Perry's voice is one of the greatest!!! 💝💝💝
My favorite all time singer and group.
I am Sooo proud of you for catching Steve Perry’s extreme high notes during Neal Schon’s guitar solo! Only the Great reactors pay that much attention. A Deep Bow to you my friend… you’re awesome! Steve Perry… the King! 👑🎤🎼
Journey is my #1 favorite band. I've seen them twice in the 80's and they were awesome! Neal Schon is the most under appreciatedi and under rated guitarist there is. He makes his guitar sing.. nobody can shred like him. !Please react to Walks Like a Lady and Girl Cant Help It. Chain Reaction and Lights are also great songs.
Journey is a huge rabbit hole to go down, but that's because they're that good. Legends.
Please also react to:
Any Way You Want It
I'll Be Alright Without You
Separate Ways
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'
Lights
Send Her My Love
Open Arms
Who's Crying Now
Faithfully
When You Love a Woman
Don’t Stop is probably their most recognizable song, but you’ve got to react to Faithfully, Open Arms, Stone in Love and Mother, Father...really showcases Steve Perry’s range. Journey isn’t the same without Lead Singer Steve Perry., also known as The Voice. His vocal range is insane!
Some cool Journey facts: The guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Greg Rollie came from the band Santana. The band is from the Bay Area. A radio station ran a contest to name the band but they got really bad names. Finally a roadie came up with the name "Journey" and they made up a fictitious winner of the contest. I was in California during this time and there for a while every concert we went to in the Bay Area had Journey as the opening act. They started out as a prog rock band, then they changed to pop rock when Steve Perry the singer joined the band and they hit stardom. My favorite songs are from the prog rock era of Journey - "Of a Lifetime", "Look into the Future", "Kahoutek".
One your girl will love is Faithfully. Guaranteed! A story about being on tour and staying faithful to his loved one at home while on the road
A high school graduation year song. Lead singer Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury of Queen, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Brad Delp of Boston some of the top rock singers of all time.
Most overlooked and under appreciated element is when Steve joins the guitar solo at 5::32 to 5:50. I think that it's easy to imagine that it is some instrument kicking in; but video don't lie - Steve is singing that. It's subtle but adds so much. Steve has always had a signature voice, and he was in great form here. Remember when this came out. Back when AM radio was still king!
Steve Perry...one of the best voices EVER!
Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin - a too good Journey song.
Who's crying now
Stone in love
Faithfully
Open arms
Lovin touchin squeezin
Feelin that way/anytime
Lights
Seperate ways
A lot of good ones
"Susanne" on Raised on Radio
Ohhhhh, J., but you need to dedicate Journey’s “When You Love A Woman’ to your beautiful Amber. Oh, yeah! She’ll LOVE you for it!
Lead singer STEVE PERRY Mr voice himself!
One of the most difficult singers to emulate. Speaking from experience.
Absolutely one of my all-time favorites thank you!
Steve Perry & Greg Rolie one of the best vocals combos ever !!! JMO !!!
My Momma loved them but especially Steve Perry, she was in love with him!!! May she R.I.P. love you mom, you're so missed. ❤✌🤘
Open arms is considered to be the best love song of all time.
Steve Perry is the GoAT!!!!
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' , one of their best songs. Do that one sometime.
I was in eighth grade when this came out! All of us loved Journey! Let’s face it, Steve Perry is the voice!
Steve Perry is the Voice. He was singing in whistle register before there was a Mariah Carey. Many songs from that era are still commercially used in snippets because they are so epic.
Steve was the greatest voice and I will never the heart break I felt when he bowed out.😊
Amo a Steven Perry ,no hay una voz q pueda superarlo,es unico,es la VOZ.
The Voice. One of the greatest rock voices ever. Hands down.
Yeah Don't Stop Believing definitely their most played song around the world. Every cover band does that one if they are going to do a Journey song
The guy in the blue playing the drums is Gregg Rolle who was the original singer. But Steve Perry is the best
They are a San Francisco band, Steve Perry is the singer, Neal Schon guitarist (played with Santana from the age 15-20?)
Ross Valory bass, Greg Rolie keys Asley Dunbar drums. Rolie and Schon were in Santana together, Greg Rolie was vocals w/Santana and sang Black magic woman’ Santana. Then three of them started Journey. 1974-5 jazz fusion heavy rock ish. Manager brought in Perry October 1977. Some changes in 1980 and the rest is history. No tattoos no earrings. Great days, great music
I remember 1996 me and my wife hitting the freeway ramp on I-75 south to Alabama leaving Detroit(my home town) and the song wheel in the sky coming on the radio. Glancing back and saying goodbye to where I grew up.
Please play more of them. They are one of the greatest bands ever.
Hello! I'm a long time Classic Journey fan! My very first song from Journey was Lights off of the album Infinity, which is the same album Wheel In The Sky is from. Journey has been around from the early 70's. Neal Schon and Greg Rolie were part of the band called Santana! Steve Perry joined the group in late 1977. The album Infinity came out in 1978. The whole album has a very smooth 70's sound.
As I said Lights was my very first song that Steve Perry's voice caught my attention!! I love him!!!!
Great songs from this album that should be reacted to are ....... Feelin' That Way/Anytime (shared vocals with then member Greg Rolie), Winds Of March, Open The Door, Somethin' To Hide, Patiently.
The line up during this time will be .... Steve 'The Voice' Perry - lead vocals, Neal Schon (like the name Sean) lead guitarist, Greg Rolie (sounds like raw-lee) keyboardist, Ross Valory (like the name Valerie), Aynsley Dunbar (sounds like anns lee) - drums!
Others great songs from the next album Evolution are ...... Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', Lovin' You Is Easy, Do You Recall, Too Late, Sweet And Simple, Just The Same Way (shared vocals with Greg Rolie), Daydream.
From the Departure album ..... Any Way You Want It, Good Mornin' Girl, Some Day Soon, People And Places (shared vocals with Neal Schon), I'm Cryin' (the most amazing song EVER!!!), Precious Time and Stay Awhile (actually Lights and Stay Awhile should be reacted from the Houston, Tx concert from 1981!!)
From the Escape album....... Escape (this is a rockin' song), Still They Ride (studio version), Mother Father (live from Houston 1981), Stone In Love, Who's Cryin' Now (from Houston 1981),
From Frontiers ...... The entire first side! Separate Ways, After The Fall, Chain Reaction, Faithfully, Send Her My Love and Edge Of The Blade (rockin song)
Raised On Radio .... Girl Can't Help It, I'll Be Alright Without You, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever (the most underrated song). This may be the ONLY album that I really don't care for. However, these are my favorite songs from it.
And from the very last album with Steve Perry, Trial By Fire ..... Message Of Love (great rockin' song!!!!), If He Should Break Your Heart, Trial By Fire, Still She Cries, It's Just The Rain, When You Love A Woman!!
Another song that's not on an album is Ask The Lonely! Oh this song is soooooo ROCKIN'!!!!!
The line up has changed a bit. For the album Evolution. Journey has a new drummer, his name is Steve Smith. And in the Escape album we have a new keyboardist his name is, Jonathan Cain. And in the Raised On Radio album we have a new drummer and bass player. The drummer is Michael Beard and Mr. Randy Jackson! YES, that Randy Jackson!!! And the Trial By Fire was a reunion album with Steve, Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Steve. Trial By Fire was the final album with Steve Perry.
Yes, I know these are alot of song and some may be block! However, these are some are great and timeless songs! Have fun in your Journey!!
Steve Perry is awesome. He exceeds the definition of talent.
Abba, Dancing Queen , Lay All Your Love On Me !!! Momma Mia, SOS
Eric Clapton asked lead guitarist Neal Schon, Afro in this video, who graduated from San Mateo HS, to join him. Neal rejected the offer: he already signed with Santana! 🤯
Neal + Greg Rolie quit Santana. Then, they formed Journey in San Francisco, 1973. 🌁 Bass guitarist Ross Valory + drummer Ansylee Dunbar joined.
Steve Perry sang this with a near whistle! 🤯
Suggested Steve Perry video: Foolish Heart. 💔
Suggested next Journey song: Open Arms. 🌁
Who here old enough to remember the Journey arcade game?
Journey Escape, the video game, iirc.
Dam. I'm old.
Oh yeah played it at least twice a week. The arcade was a block from my house
ME!!! I still have it!!!
I do!!!!....lol
Favorite Journey song. Check out their whole catalog! Banger after banger!
WOW it's been more than two decades since I heard this song!!! Thx for reminding me of this song from my all time fav.!!!
Journey was one of the first concerts I ever went too...Steve Perry does have a unique voice
Journey (Escape Tour live in Houston - 1981) - Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’, Stone in Love, Who’s Crying Now. Great performance at this concert!!!!!! Check it out! Thanks for the memories and keep great music alive, Jay. ☮️🖤🤟
I'm in my 60's and am still in love with Steve Perry!
By far, my favorite Journey song.
