He was 90 years old in 63. I loved him and he loved me. Lord i cried the day he died. Cause i thought that he walked on water. Those are they lyrics he forgot.
Like with that verse missing the whole song just doesn't hit as hard. Even though he was singing about his great grandfather I always kinda associated it with my grandfather. He's been gone 19 years now but I miss you Papa.
Randy Travis had a stroke several years ago , just so you know . He was a wonderful religious entertainer and I truly miss his presence on the stage . i sincerely hope he is surviving well.
I have always told my kids that anytime you get a chance to talk with their elders, they should sit and listen to their stories. They have a lifetime of knowledge and experience. They may have a better way of doing things. You can learn so much. If anything, you might get a great story and a new friend
When I was little I would watch my Grampa working on his farm. I thought he was the tallest, strongest man in the world. I would race to get to his chair before him. He'd hang me upside down and call me his little rascal. He was my Hero. He lived to be 100. I was so lucky to have 2 heroes. Him and my Dad❤🤧 God bless you
My mom's grandfather was out working his farm too, into his 90s. Once when I was very little, we were going out to their place and my mom saw a shirtless guy, out working in the field and she thought "that guy is hot", but as they got closer, she realized it was her 80 year old grandfather!
My grandpa was my hero. He adopted my dad and my aunts and uncles after he married my grandma. My dad’s actual birth father abandoned my grandma and ran off with his mistress. My grandpa may not have been the man who fathered my dad, but he was the one who stepped up and raised him, showing him what a man actually is. I loved him so much. He was the one who taught me how to fish, how to drive a stick shift, and I’d spend a lot of my summers shelling purple hull peas with him until my fingers themselves were purple 😂. He was the first one who I told that was going to join the Army. The day we lost him I cried my eyes out. I was stationed in Germany and couldn’t get home in time to say goodbye. Every time I hear this song it hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m back to the little kid looking up to his grandpa, fishing on a local pond.
My oldest son met my GREAT GRANDMOTHER! So so so precious to me and we have a 5 generation picture with my incredible great grandmother, my grandmother, my mother, myself, and my son ❤ SO, she met her grandchild's grandchild ❤❤❤❤
This is a song that every man needs to listen to and then do everything possible to live their lives in a manor in which their children and grandchildren will remember them the same way.
This is the coolest thing that Randy Travis has ever done. I love so much that he forgot the lines to his own song. Because Randy Travis, unlike almost everybody else that entertains people, Is so extremely humble that he actually thanks other artists for covering his songs because he truly thinks they'll make it better than he did. And he will say that to anybody because he does not take himself seriously. And I love that because hes talented enough to have a HUGE ego but he doesnt.
Randy Travis in 2013 had a massive stroke do to congestive heart failure, had emergency brain surgery and had to relearn how to walk and talk again but never really fully recovered. He walked with a cane.
My PawPaw was a real-life cowboy in his younger years. Years later, he traded in his cowboy hat for a regular cap. He was THE sweetest man, a great story teller, and so very loved.
My grandfather was THE man to me always, a model of how men should be. He was a patriotic WW2 veteran and devout Christian that worked from before the sun came up till late at night. The kind person that would give the shirt off his back to you and he gave his free time away to do charity work(ministering to prisoners). He passed away at 92.
When this song came out, my Grandpa had just passed away and when I heard this song for the first time...yes I cried like a baby !! As a matter of fact, I got tears rolling down my cheeks right now because watching your reaction to this song, it was like the very first time(again) !! My Grandparents meant the world to me !! Thank you young lady for reminding me of my Grandpa !!
Your always so gererous on your youtube channel Britt. Great reaction too Randy love it thank you so much for sharing this video with us love it Britt.🌹❤️👍
In a family usually the most overlooked people are kids and old folks and they tend to have a closer relationship! They have the time and take the time for each other! My Grandfather reminds me of the man in the song. He was kind of an outlaw in his younger years but by the time I came along he was older and his health was gone and I was his shadow. I loved him and wanted to be him when I grew older. But he was gone by the time I was 12. Funny, I thought he was really old when he passed at 65 and now I am 70. I love your reactions, You show a lot of love and soul when you listen to a song. I also love a lot of the songs you react to. You have a Great day Lovely lady!
Not many people are lucky enough to know their great grandparents. Great grandparents and grandparents are gifts to the younger generations. They should be revered and appreciated. My grandpa's told the greatest stories. if you have not listened to Ray Stevens' "I'm My Own Grandpa", you should. You will loose your mind.
Britt, you're too much. You keep it so REAL. That's why I love your channel. Stay you, young lady. It's really refreshing. And yes, Randy Travis was a great story telling singer. One of my favorites growing up. 🤧🤧👍👍
I know Randy has been diagnosed with Altheimer’s disease and that might be the reason he forgot the words. BTW, God bless you! And also, I love your videos
You make watching your reviews so enjoyable. Thank you......... Randy Travis was a favorite of mine with his rich baritone voice. I could just listen to him all day long. There are those that are so gifted that regardless of what they were doing you would just want to take them in, example Jimmy Stewart (actor), Sam Elliott (Actor) these two come to mind. Britt your reactions fall in line with that, you make the experience so pleasant and you are down to earth and very thoughtful in a wonderful way. Keep on keeping on Britt 💞💯❣
This is one of my favorites of his. I always think of my paternal granddaddy who wore an old straw hat and, no doubt in my mind, it hid a halo. He wore khaki pants and white or khaki shirts and smelled of the earth that he worked in and the Juicy Fruit gum which he always carried in his pocket. He was a storyteller, a good, upright family man, and the song leader at Mace’s Hill Missionary Baptist Church where there was no piano, no restrooms and no air conditioning. But my grandfather would roll up the songbook in his hand and lead the singing without ever opening the old hymnal. Something died in me the day the Lord called him home. He was my friend, my confidant and my champion and I’m fairly certain he walked on water. Looking forward to a great reunion coming soon.
I hope others had a man like this in their lives. My grandpa was for me. Best friend. Wyoming national guard Calvary in the 1930s. Air Force from 1941-1973. 3 wars. Sweetest and respected man.
Had to come back to this one, I love this song. Here's the unsung verse: "And he was 90 years old in '63, And I loved him, and he loved me. And Lord I cried the day he died, 'Cause I thought that he walked on water." ua-cam.com/video/eCVw8Qjeg84/v-deo.html
I lost my grandfather 2 years ago and I can't listen to this song without crying, the part where he sins I loved him and he loved me gets me every time! Might wanna watch the video to this so you get it all!
The timbre of his rich baritone voice is unparalleled. My favorite Randy Travis songs are Reasons I Cheat; Promises; Take Another Swing At Me; This is Me; Look Heart, No Hands; Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man; That’s Where I Draw the Line; I Told You So; The Box; He Walked On Water; Three Wooden Crosses; Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart; It’s Just a Matter of Time; On the Other Hand; and Forever and Ever Amen.
A great reaction. Years ago I heard that Tanya Tucker said she doesn't even have a copy of all of her albums and some of her songs she does not remember. I can only respect Randy's reaction on here. God bless you.
I lived in Nashville for a while, I went to this club where Randy Travis used to be a dishwasher, Every Monday or Tuesday night they would pick people from the audience to get up and sing with the house band on the other night people who worked there could get up and sing. Like I was saying Randy was a dishwasher there he got up to sing and there was a record producer who hired him on the spot His paycheck was put in a frame and when you walked into the club it was right there for everyone to see. It was roughly 213.15 , Yeah for a multi million dollar contract I would have left my last paycheck there too.
I am so glad you reacted to this song. I just Love it. Please do yourself a favor and watch the original video that goes with this song. It is just beautiful. The video was so well done. Touches your heart.
I have bought every cassette of every song he ever produced. So I can definitely see how he might would forget the lyrics to a song. This man has written so many songs.
Josh Turner is another one with that deep deep register in his voice. His song Long Black Train is a fantastic one to check out that displays it very well. Josh Turner looked up to Randy Travis growing up and Scotty McCreery looked up to Josh.
Another great country voice you should check out is the late, great Keith Whitley. Start with "I'm No Stranger To The Rain" or "When You Say Nothing At All."
Just hit the regular one three times. 👍👍👍 See, that works. (You Tube hasn’t as yet placed a limit on how many times you can hit it so get as super duper as you want lol)
There is a series on UP FAITH & FAMILY called TOUCHED BY AND ANGEL THAT RANDY TRAVIS APPEARS IN LIKE 5 OR 6 EPISODES AND YES HE DOES SING IN A FEW OF THEM.
He may have forgotten the words momentarily, but as others have already commented, we true fans know them by heart. Randy Travis is one of the quintessential male artists of Country Music. And thanks to his cooperation with AI, he has a new song out right now despite his inability to sing anymore. And he is currently working on others. So glad to know that his voice lives on! Country Music is currently going under massive changes, and all for the worst. We need to never forget Randly Travis, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Cling Black, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and the rest; not to mention all the great women of Country Music who in my opinion are among the best female singers of all time!
For more of that rich voice, try Randy on "Deeper Than the Holler", " "Whisper my Name", and "If I Didn't Have You". For his silly side, try "Is It Still Over?" or "Before You Kill Us All"!
The Carpenter, Baptism, Shallow Water and Drive Another Nail are some of the amazing gospel songs Randy has recorded... You should definitely check those out as well.
He was 90 years old in 63. I loved him and he loved me. Lord i cried the day he died. Cause i thought that he walked on water. Those are they lyrics he forgot.
Sad lyric in the song. Brain fart protecting him!
It's a shame because that's the most powerful part of the song!
So happy someone told her 😊
Like with that verse missing the whole song just doesn't hit as hard. Even though he was singing about his great grandfather I always kinda associated it with my grandfather. He's been gone 19 years now but I miss you Papa.
I was bout to type it , glad I looked
Randy Travis had a stroke several years ago , just so you know . He was a wonderful religious entertainer and I truly miss his presence on the stage . i sincerely hope he is surviving well.
I attended funeral that was his inspection for this song. I'm here to tell you, you will never see a man shed more tears. 😢😢
Yea. I agree.

In my mind, I change it to "I thought SHE walked on water" and this song becomes about my grandmother. My hero ❤❤❤
🤧 God bless you, I've been sneezing all week, tis the season
This is a song that every man needs to listen to and then do everything possible to live their lives in a manor in which their children and grandchildren will remember them the same way.
He was 98 in
63 I love him and he loved me and Lord I cried the day he died cuz I thought he walked on the water
Its just sad to see what has happened to him now after his stroke he can barley even talk now he was my hero growing up
Yeah precious he was talking about his great Grandpa 😉❤️
One of the nicest most humble man I ever met
Makes me smile and cry because this song reminds me of my grandfather.

My grandma played this endlessly, thanks for a fantastic memory. ❤
His Great Grandfather, this is just how I felt about my Grandfather.

I’ve actually meet three great grandparents and you can tell they can’t believe they have an opportunity to see the generations in one room
My great granddaddy we knew him as Poppy. I love that sweet old man, he passed away when I was seven but I have such wonderful memories of him.
By the way. God bless you. 🤧
You should do a new video of Randy Travis after his stroke he is still so humbled it's amazing
Another great Randy Travis song!!!.. You still have to listen to, A Matter of Time... You won't be disappointed
i LOVE how deep his voice gets on that one. love the song
❤️❤️

THIS is my favorite Randy Travis song ❤👏🏼🎶
Just discovered you, Britt. Thanks for this reaction - songs of my childhood. Would love to take you to a family reunion!
I lost my grandfather 2 years ago and I can't listen to this song without crying, the part where he sins I loved him and he loved me gets me every time! Might wanna watch the video to this so you get it all!

God bless you
It’s windy today. Have been sneezing quite a bit. 🤧🤧
PS great reaction I love this song.
God Bless You!
I love the video to this! It's one of my favourites of his.
God Bless you, I believe Noah was 950 years old, Methuselah, on the other hand was 969!!
It's nothin' to sneeze at, Britt! Lol, Randy's moment must be contagious.
Randy’s voice reminded me of an old country church’s Sunday afternoon singing after “Sunday dinner on the ground.”
A great reaction. Years ago I heard that Tanya Tucker said she doesn't even have a copy of all of her albums and some of her songs she does not remember. I can only respect Randy's reaction on here. God bless you.

God bless you 🤧 and God bless country music! Love seeing you connect with this beautiful, story-telling genre 🤠
I felt that way about my grandfather.

I have bought every cassette of every song he ever produced. So I can definitely see how he might would forget the lyrics to a song. This man has written so many songs.
One of my all time favorites
You REALLY need to listen to and react to his song "Pray For The Fish". It is hilarious!
If you sing the lyrics with the music when he forgets the line, when he comes out of it, he is right on point!
First off bless you, and you are such an amazing Reactor, just raw footage and wholesome. keep up the amazing work. you have a Blessed and amazing day
Josh Turner is another one with that deep deep register in his voice. His song Long Black Train is a fantastic one to check out that displays it very well. Josh Turner looked up to Randy Travis growing up and Scotty McCreery looked up to Josh.

I heard it said that Randy's voice is so rough hewn if you listen too close, you'll get splinters.
There needs to be a super duper triple thumbs up button for Britt reaction videos.
Just hit the regular one three times.
👍👍👍 See, that works. (You Tube hasn’t as yet placed a limit on how many times you can hit it so get as super duper as you want lol)
Listening to Randy Travis is like chewing on a big ole chunk of salted caramel. Rich. Deep. A little salty, but very sweet.
God Bless you sweet Brit. 🤧
The song was written by Allen Shamblin and was about his Great Grandfather. Randy Travis like the song so he recorded it in April of 1990.
God Bless you 🙏
Hi Britt, you need to listen to Vince Gill's When I Call Your Name,it is a tear jerker
God bless you! 🤧
This song expresses exactly how I felt about my grandfather. Wonderful man. Miss him to this day. ❤
