Sure did, Lizzie-But why did'n't they show Cheryl Lynn doing the backups? ( They both recorded on the same label, Columbia) Another bad-azz cut off Toto's debut..Still their best LP in my humble opinion.
There's nothing more enjoyable than watching a beautiful young woman being thoroughly moved by sophisticated music. You take me back to the days when I would go out dancing, Lizzie. The young ladies that showed up had paid impeccable attention to their hair and makeup - just like you Lizzie.
Background vocals by the awesome Cheryl Lynn ... She had a few hits as a solo artist (Star Love, Got To Be Real, Encore). This song is such a smooth groove ... I always grabbed my girl and we grooved on the floor to this jam.❤❤❤❤❤ Toto was formed by a group of studio musicians in the mid 70s including lead vocalist Bobby Kimball, lead guitarist/lead vocalist Steve Lukather, keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist Steve Porcaro. Lots of hits ....LOTS 😊
The first song I’d ever heard by TOTO and it is still to this day, my favorite by the band. More r&b than their other bangers. And the great Cheryl Lynn on the hook!
Such a great time in music, late 70s, my college years. We were so blessed to have groups like Toto, George Benson, Boz Scaggs, Pablo Cruise, steely Dan, and so many others, all at the same time!
This one of my favorites from Toto with the amazing Cheryl Lynn coming in on the track. I used to dance with a partner back in the day and this was one of the songs we had choreographed....amazing times!
Georgy Porgy was based on the nursery rhyme. Georgy Porgy, puddin' an pie, kissed the girls and made them cry! Kids from my generation grew up chanting this on the playground. Great reaction as usual Lizzie!
You started moving before the Intro was even over, that's what this song does... It makes people daaaance!! Such a solid grove, great reduction to a great song xx
Just listened to this song... and I'm ADDICTED. I knew Toto for a while but WHY HAVEN'T I SEEN THIS TIL NOW 😭🤣. Going straight to the playlist and gonna need to learn that guitar, Vocals lmao.
Starting in 1960 to 1970 with THE BEATLES (all the songs are great hits) And in the next years till the 90s we have bands like Kc And The Sunshine Band ,10cc, Earth Wind And Fire , Kool And The Gang , Toto , Electric Light Orchestra , Yes , Pink Floyd , Deep Purple , Chicago , Abba , Bee Gees , Kiss , The Who , The Rolling Stones , AC DC , Scorpions , The Police , Inxs , Aha , Dire Straits , The Cars , Journey , Kansas , Eagles , Led Zeppelin, Europe , Alan Parsons , The Doobie Brothers , Creedence Clearwater Revival , Queen , Elton John , Paul Mc Cartney and Wings , Peter Frampton , Boston , Fleetwood Mac , Tom Jones , Duran Duran , Foreigner , Hearth Wind And Fire, Rod Stewart , Michael Jackson , Prince , Emerson Lake and Palmer , and Reo Speedwagon BUT the list is HUGE and mybe i left someone behind by mistake. 1971 STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN Led Zeppelin In 1972 SMOKE ON THE WATER DEEP PURPLE IN 1973 THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON PINK FLOYD IN 1974 DEEP PURPLE Burn and Pilot Magic IN 1975 Bohemian Rhapsody Queen and I'm Not in Love 10cc 1976 MUSIC JOHN MILES and Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry 1977 Player - Baby Come Back , The Load Out / Stay by Jackson Browne and Hotel California by Eagles 1978 to 1979 Last Train To London ELO 1979 Ride like the Wind Christopher Cross and the list goes on and on and on at least till 1990. Wayne Casey from KC and the sunshine band is a white man that have the soul and the music of black people living down deep inside on her BIG heart GOD BLESS YOU WAYNE CASEY. I was born in the golden era of music 1960 and today i am a happy young man on my 64 yrs old. And the only good band we have now is POETS OF THE FALL because they are still playing today.
This was released as a single, but it did not crack into the Billboard Top 40, stalling at #48. This is a great song that the radio stations did not know how to properly promote, because it was a mixture of soul and jazz, some Top 40 stations did not add it to their playlists. Unfortunately, at the time, Toto itself was somewhat of an enigma to the music industry and the US radio audience. I have never heard a bad Toto song in my life, but out of all of the singles that they released, only 10 made it into the Top 40. Then they hit BIG with the songs "Rosanna" and "Africa" in 1981/82 and cooled off after that... an occasional hit, again, just like before, but the listening audience here sort of gave up on them even though they were still cranking out music that should have been chart toppers. Perhaps, they were just way, way, way ahead of their time. Today, people are finally starting to re-discover their "non-hits" and realizing there was a lot, lot, LOT more to Toto than just "Rosanna" and "Africa".
the nursery rhyme, "Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie" was a dig at the Prince Regent in England in the 1820's, because of his gluttony, and chasing girls
Got chills. Toto was huge when I was a kid. Africa and Rosanna was off the charts. Glad you are back kiddo. I really enjoy your 'takes'. best wishes to you, Thomas
Just in case you were wondering, the great female R&B Solo artist Cheryl Lynn was the female vocalist on this classic song, but she wasn't featured in the video.
Very innovative band that crossed multiple genres and created a new sound that still gets air play today. Very highly regarded musicians within the industry.
ENGLAND DAN & JOHN FORD COLEY - " Love Is The Answer " 1970s song with an Early 1980s FLARE 🔥 🎸 you're going to absolutely Enjoy this Amazing Classic too. Studio Version. This song literally has the sound of 1980 it's really Incredible both in Lyrics and Instruments. Georgy Porgy is one of my Mega Favorites and Sheryl Lynn's backing vocals added even more flare to an already awesome song " TO BE REAL " She's Fantastic luv her music too
You gotta hear Toto's "Africa" next!! BTW, Cheryl Lynn on background vocals, was a disco star in the 70s and was discovered on an old show called "The Gong Show." Cheryl has an incredible vocal range. Check out her "Star Love" to hear it@
Don’t know why I still love this quirky lil song but I do. Still rock it while I’m driving. Shoutout to the great Cheryl Lynn on the female vocals and MC Lyte who rhymed over this song back in the 80s.
LOVERBOY - " DESTINATION HEARTBREAK " from 1984 EPIC Intro with that Groovy Keyboard sound that gets you Listening 🎧 right away this song is Must hear. I read your comment, Lizzie. Whoever makes the decision to 'block' videos should be evaluated, because the quality of this video you posted is why I've been a subscriber for years. I really don't appreciate UA-cam keeping your videos from your subscribers (me). Especially "Georgy Porgy"! 1980 is the first time I heard it. Later I discovered that Cheryl Lynn was singing on it and that she isn't a member of Toto's band. Cheryl Lynn's "Shake It Up Tonight" (1981) is my favorite of the many songs I like that she has made.
Great song and loved your reaction Lizzie!! Toto definitely got you vibing!!🤗 As others have mentioned you should react to Cheryl Lynn. Got to Be Real came out in 78 and Encore in 83. Always enjoy your reactions Lizz!!❤
Wasn't radio song. I think this was on first album, really good first album. Not as good as Boston's or foreigner s first albums, but good none the less.
Love this one! Toto, just never lets you down. An artist I don't think you've heard yet...Please, give "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs a listen. Love seeing more videos from you, what a treat! Take care. ❤
There's a 1990 live version on UA-cam, where the women singers are doing their part, and his solo is better. Something you might like. Thanks, for your video.
Like you Lizzie and will support you by pressing your like button, but this is really not my bag, but just like you I love music, I'm older than you but I think that you have great musical taste,
thanks UA-cam for unblocking this for me 🙏🏾 hope yall enjoy this late upload!
Sure did, Lizzie-But why did'n't they show Cheryl Lynn doing the backups? ( They both recorded on the same label, Columbia) Another bad-azz cut off Toto's debut..Still their best LP in my humble opinion.
Maybe Cheryl Lynn had other commitments. Love toto. Love Cheryl. Love them together.
no shit they blocked u...????...another good tune and reaction...cheers.
That's Cheryl Lynn, who sang "Got To Be Real" singing the Georgy Porgy parts.
There's nothing more enjoyable than watching a beautiful young woman being thoroughly moved by sophisticated music.

Hi Lizzie, The Band TOTO is "ELITE!!!" And they are like you said "FIRE!!!" 🔥🔥🔥
I haven't heard this in FOREVER! And it always gives me Boz Scaggs vibes, which isn't a bad thing. 😁 Thanks Lizzie! ❤️

Sometimes all you need is to see someone VIBIN' with Georgy Porgy 💖
You started moving before the Intro was even over, that's what this song does... It makes people daaaance!!
Such a solid grove, great reduction to a great song xx
The great Lenny Castro on congas, and of course Jeff Porcaro on drums, the best, and on guitar Steve Lukathur on guitar, a players player.

Nice choice, Liz! Thank you!
One of my favorite deep cuts from Toto
Very innovative band that crossed multiple genres and created a new sound that still gets air play today. Very highly regarded musicians within the industry.
Fun fact...the guitarist and drummer from Toto were key musicians on Michael Jackson's Thriller.

I'm still loving your vibe ❤
Great pull of a song!
I’m 62 and I’ve never heard this.
That sounds impossible to me, but I'll take your word for it.
I'm not surprised. I don't think it was one of their hits.
Wasn't radio song. I think this was on first album, really good first album. Not as good as Boston's or foreigner s first albums, but good none the less.
You must live in a cave
Fun fact: MC Lyte sampled this song in the 90's!
@Lizzie - You remind me of many songs. Two of them come to mind: Gap Band “Outstanding” and Ohio Players “Fire”.
Go head Lizzie!!! Rock wit it, lean wit it!!! Eric Benet has a nice remake of this with Faith Evans, but you can't go wrong with the original!
I love the way you dance 👍 😊
Love this one! Toto, just never lets you down.
