    Yes those Kraft Americana Cheese bags are a pain in the ass! Especially when you have arthritis.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  3 роки тому

      I know with todays technology there has to be a way to make those darn bags easier to open. Iven worse is when you pull the tab and it only opens the top about an inch and then it pulls off the top leaving you looking for a sharp knife or scissors to get the job done. LOL

    I just got my blackstone yesterday. I am enjoying your video. I seasoned mine yesterday, but I think I may have used a little too much of the blackstone seasoning. My griddle looks a little "rough". I'm hoping it will even out as I cook on it. The corners of my griddle aren't very dark at all. I'm thinking I need to put some food in those corners and let it cook.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  4 місяці тому

      I bet you did fine. It takes a while for the edges and corners to get black like the centers. Just cook on it and in no time it will be non stick and even as all heck. It's one of those things that the more you use it the better it will get. Just clean it with water and scrape it down, then while it's still hot give it a VERY light coat of oil and let that smoke off every time you use it and it will be the best cooking surface you will ever have. Griddle on my friend, and enjoy.

      Ohhhhh you are going to have a blast with your griddle. Just don't get too discouraged if you get a little sticking the first few times you use it. Soon it'll be better than the best non stick pan you can find. Thanks for watching, and I soon hope to get off this crazy shift I'm working and have time to do more.

    I make smaller burgers, about 3 oz, a slice on each, double stack. more crust.
    also, a smash press works a lot better than spatulas, wider, even pressure over the entire spread burger. good call on the mayo (not Duke's for me tho) to brown the buns.
    but however you make them, theyre amazing.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  7 місяців тому

    • @PapaMark

      Those are just regular hamburger buns. I line them the best for smash burgers. The fancy buns seem to come too big, and with the burgers they don't fill the bun as well and you end up with a lot of extra bread.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  6 місяців тому

      Not at all. Just take your time seasoning it, and remember when it comes to seasoning the griddle, LESS is BEST. Use just enough oil to cover the griddle but not enough to have any puddles or any laying around. Almost dry it off before you turn on the heat. Then when it stops smoking turn the heat off and let it cool all the way down to where you can lay your hand on it before you do another round. Make it an all day event if you can. That will make it so much better down the road.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  Рік тому

      I've done that. It seemed like it didn't do as well. If that makes any sense. Almost like I seasoned the condiments instead of the burger. I've also seasoned them while I'm making the balls. That is a great way to add life to the burger. But mostly I just give it the seasoning when I first put them on and right after I flip. But seriously there's no wrong way to do it. LOL. It all tastes great.

    I've been looking at the 22 ADV, in your opinion would it be too large to use on a camping trip?

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  3 роки тому +1

      It's perfect for the campers. It is a bit on the heavy side, but not so bad if you have a helper. The wife helps me pull it out of the back of our SUV and put it on the table when we go to the lake. For camping I like the table that comes with it. You can spend a few minutes and get it perfectly leveled, then put the griddle on it. Just note, don't put anything on the table near the griddle it will get hot enough to melt a plastic bottle. . . Don't ask me how I know this. LOL. Thanks for watching my videos.

    You're making me drool! I just bought a brand new portable weber Grill last year, and I'm trying to justify getting one of these in my head. We spend a lot of time on the anchor in our boat, and I used one of these last year to saute some Cajun shrimp. It was out of this world! Storage space is my biggest obstacle, but it would save a lot of indoor breakfast cooking in the cabin!

    • @PapaMark

      This is perfect for a cabin. I take mine every time we go anywhere like that. . . I even put it in the car when we go for long hikes. I'll pull it out and fire up some sandwiches when we get back. We'll enjoy the trail head area eating our sandwiches, and by the time we are done the Blackstone is cooled down and we can toss it back in the car and head on. Perfect little portable. They do make one size smaller, and it is a great little guy too. I even have the small electric Blackstone, and LOVE IT. if you are sitting on the fence grab it and never look back.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  2 роки тому

      You are right, I didn't season the burgers. I was using American cheese, and it is loaded with sodium, so when I use it I don't add any more salt. I found that if I season the meat and use that cheese it's much to salty. Over the past year or so I've been trying to reduce our salt intake, and this is a great way to cut it back. The cheese melts over the burger and everything is balanced. Give it a try.

    • @sneat2028
      @sneat2028 2 роки тому +1

      @@PapaMark "American cheese"? That's the problem, American cheese has 4 times more sodium than cheddar cheese. American cheese is not "real cheese". You'll end up with a gut and mud butt. In general, You don't need that much salt in food.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  2 роки тому

      At the time I was making the video I didn't have any cheddar left. I did have a bunch mellowing that I smoked, but it would have been bitter, so I opted for the American. I don't use it on much, but ever since I was in the Navy I like my onion and mushroom omelets with American. It gives the mushrooms and onions a great taste in the omelet and melts quickly so it melts before the omelet is over cooked. Thanks for watching.

    Hi, enjoyed the video since I am also considering this griddle. 22”?… looks bigger on the video. Also was VERY impressed by the “non-stick” you had. I have seen videos of Blackstones where guys are scraping scraping scraping but even with the melted cheese, yours came up like non stick. Has to be the way you seasoned it? Impressive.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  2 роки тому +2

      I love this griddle. It's big enough to do what we need it for, but I can still manhandle it in and out of the car. It is a bit heavy, but I can still get it. If I take it where I know I'm going to have to walk a bit I take my folding dolly and just put it on that. As for seasoning it, I slowly brought it up to high. Then I put small amounts of olive oil on a paper towel and covered everything. I let it go on high until it wasn't smoking at all, then I shut it down, let it cool, then repeated this four more times. I've never had a problem with anything sticking at all.
      Thanks for watching my videos.

    im debating on this size or the bigger one. I do entertain at my cabin. And i have a Large family. But 22 looks like you can put a big amount on it. I do have a couple of webber q at the property right now.

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  2 роки тому

      This holds a good amount, but for a larger family I'd go with a bigger size. This is perfect for two or three people. Doing stir fries for a larger group will be a pain. My son has a family of five, and the four burner is big, but I've watched him fill it several times. If I had more room in the garage to store it I'd get the biggest one they make. It's just so much more vestal.

    I bought avocado oil for the griddle they say it’s good and it won’t mess up the griddle top it is that true or can I use the same oil you’re using?

    • @PapaMark
      @PapaMark  3 роки тому

      avocado oil is great to use. it has a smoke temp of about 520 degrees F, so you can crank that heat up doing stuff like Smashburgers and it won't smoke on you. I use olive oil because that's what I had in the house. I think I will be switching to avocado oil when I run out.
