I grew up in NYC and I saw this show in 73. I’m very fortunate to have seen them 10 times in my life and I still have the ticket stubs. Thank you for playing this and I just wanted to say that you guys rock. So please keep doing what you’re doing. 🕊❤️🎼
Really, that's awesome!! What was the first time you saw them..?? And which was the best..?? Did you see camera men during this gig..? I know that a lot of it was also shot on a soundstage in England after the fact too.
I am jealous too but happy for you. La & Che you two are the best reaction video guys. Thanks for sharing all your videos. I recommend any Elvis Costello and more Bob Dylan and more Springsteen!!!😊
To me this was the pinnacle of the concert. This version of No Quarter still sends shivers all along my spine. The groove, the weight of this massive slow groove...and THAT FUCKING GUITAR SOLO with Bonham doing those DYNAMITE triplets and JPJ's haunting keyboard...I mean if you're not shaken by this performance, why the fuck are you still even listening to music?
Couldn’t agree more. Solos like that put Page squarely on the Mount Rushmore of rock guitarists. So much fire, emotion and phrasing that’s 100% Jimmy Page and no one else. My idol!
@user-fp9qg3qm5b I often sing his accolades in a similar fashion. However, one mustn’t forget while listening to these that JPJ is playing the bass lines with his FEET! Probably in cowboy boots too, because he’s a beast. We’re very lucky this band happened imho. Cheers!
Guys, you MUST WATCH THE VIDEO of that " Since I've Been Loving You " at MSG. It was filmed. THAT will be the reaction of all reactions for you guys. It's stunning, gripping.....EPIC.
It was solely Page that got me and thousands of others into the guitar. Since I began, I've gone over the majority of Zep songs and learned them well. There is no guitarist/composer like Page. There are greater technicians, but that doesn't matter, his feel, passion, and innovation is second to none. He is a guitarist unto himself and there are no other categories needed.
I disagree. That lame ass short video they put over the live footage during the best parts of the song and beginning of Page's solo, totally ruined the video from the movie.
I agree, I have the dvd and watch it a couple of times a year. Though, hearing it without the pictures has been a different experience, maybe even making the music more intense.
There is a live video of this. This is from the iconic MSG concert. They played 3 nights I believe and made a concert film called "The Song Remains the Same" I attended one of the shows, I was 16.
I’m still mourning Bonzo’s death that came about a month before I was going to see them in Detroit in Oct. 1980. Tickets in hand. Had not seen them before. Crushing experience.
My sisters got to go to the 1976 show my parents wouldn't let me they say I was too young. So when tour dates were announced for the 1980 tour. ( In January 1979)I bought front row tickets at ticket agency $100 each for a pair of front row seats I was going to make sure I seen them. I put a deposit on the tickets and made $25 payments until they were paid off .I waited anxiously for a year counting the days. Then that tragic September day when the world heard the news of Bonzos death. I sat in my dark room with my black light on with all my Florencent glowing Zeppelin posters. Sat in my bean bag chair and did bong hits of skunk weed. Put LZ1 on my turntable and cranked it up. I cried all day. I listened to every album. I stayed in my room for maybe a week. I never got over not seeing zeppelin. then the release of the movie , the song remains the same. I won a pair of tickets, on the radio. for the premier opening night showing it was a midnight movie. I got at the movie theater at 11:30 and the line was already around the building and down the street. First I thought I would never get in there were too many people in front of us . Then I seen people angry going back to their cars yelling it's been sold out. So my brother saved our place in line and I went to the ticket booth showed them the passes I had won on the radio and they put us in the front of the line. It was like having front row seats. It was like a concert inside the movie theater everyone partying screaming applauding first 10 rows everyone was standing. I went to every showing of that movie. Then when Page and Plant did the No Quarter tour I went to see that. I remember after that concert my friends would ask how was the concert? I told them it sucked there were like maybe 10 people playing almost like a orchestra. Well I was expecting to see Led Zeppelin and I did not. So I was disappointed. But now with hindsight and after watching videos of that tour. It really was a great show. I only wish at the time I would have had a open mind knowing I'm not going to see Led Zeppelin. Then I would have got into it and enjoyed the show.
Robert's voice in No Quarter is so full of anguish and desperation. You can picture this group of men battling the elements going through enemy territory to deliver a message knowing they might be going to tneir desths. Only the mighty Zeppelin can make music like this. They are the greatest.
@winstonsyme5899 really.... such a pity that in this version it has almost two minutes at the beginning and at the end brutally cut out.... really don't know the reason, but it spoils a little the best (imho) Page solo on official records, along with the slow one in the Lemon song.....
Imagine being there live feeling the bass through the floor all up to your chest! And how loud your hearing the whole band. You can't even talk to the person next to you, cause it's So loud! What a Spiritual Expeirience it must have been to See/Hear/and Feel this show!!! I don't think it gets much better? Honestly! It's Led Zeppelin!
Imagine: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant would, in the future, go on to say that this concert was “ok…..good”. They were coming off a long tour and were exhausted. Jimmy has said he barely slept for four nights during the three-day run of these MSG concerts. Roberts voice was tired. I honestly wonder what they would say was their best concert? Perhaps the two shows in LA from 1972 on the How The West Was Won album? I don’t know but I would love to hear what they would say.
When I was in high school my friends and I would head to Sacramento to the midnight movies whenever The Song Remains the Same would play at the theatre. That was long ago but those memories remain like they were yesterday. Led Zeppelin was just so amazing we couldn't get enough. Those were the days!!!✌️👍🎶🎸🎼🎵
I grew up in Connecticut and “The Song Remains The Same” was played at movie theaters from 1976 until the mid 90’s, always at night and often with other concert or stoner types of movies. My friends and I would walk to one of the theaters where it was playing, smoking weed on the way. It never failed that you would smell weed in the movie theater parking lot. Even some of the people who worked at the theater were stoned. For whatever reason the police never caught onto this.
We used to go catch the midnight showing of The Song Remains the Same at the Fox in Provo UT just off BYU campus. It was usually followed by either the Holy Grail or Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Ditto! We might have even been in the same theater a time or two! Loved seein 'em on that screen with the sound pouring out of the walls onto us... Dazed was my favorite song!!
What a great way to start off my day and my week... All of Zeps songs are "my favorites", but these two really help with my headspace. I'm 62, and I need all the help I can get! Thanks guys. G.
That “No Quarter” solo is mind-bending. One of the greatest live solos ever put to wax. It’s just a shame the copyright restrictions won’t allow you (I’m assuming) to play the video version.
Wow.. a Led Zep 2-fer to start my Monday! Thanks, bros! In the early '80s, the movie theaters in my area would have an occasional "midnight movie". I must have watched The Song Remains the Same half a dozen times. Pre-partying was essential to the experience. Since Zeppelin broke up in 1980, this was the next best thing. Other midnight movies we jammed to included Pink Floyd - The Wall and AC/DC - Let There Be Rock.
Whole Lotta Love & Dazed & Confused off this live album are their Magnus Opus signature tracks they have ! Whole Lotta Love clocking at 13:50 and D&C clocks in at 29:16 of just pure greatness 🎸❤️🔥🤘🏼 Page uses a violin bow on an epic solo !
Thos live version of NO Quarter was my lullaby on my cassette deck after tripping on purple mimi mic and finally calling it quits and drifting off to dream.... good memories and great times! Hard to believe I'm still here after all those trips!
Two of my favorites!!!! We used to “Midnight Movies” here in Indy back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. This film, The Wall, and Rocky Horror Picture were in regular play along with several others, but those three were just incredible parties. Everyone was “baked” and beer and liquor bottles could be heard rolling down the isles throughout the shows.. Wow, just more proof that growing up in those days just can’t be beat!!! Like always another great reaction!!👏👏👏
I too was very lucky to have seen this tour, 4 times at The Forum and 3 more times at The Long Beach Arena. Let's just say that everytime they came to town, l went to every show "Big Led Head"🤘😊
I’m 61 years old and I have listened to this album and Paranoid more than any album in my lifetime. Probably over a thousand times. No need to say anything else. GOAT status.
Great review - note the version of no quarter is the shortened/edited version. The version of the song from the original 1976 release (early 80's cd release) have the full version of the song where Jimmy plays a great rhythm figure for a bit before launching into the solo - this version (which Jimmy himself buthered!) leaves the section out and also shortens the solo further.
Thank you gentlemen another fantastic reaction. The remaining songs are going to set you on fire. The pedal is to the metal. The improvisation from all of these phenomenal musicians are remarkable. Once again thank you for taking my request. You too as musicians will appreciate the rest of the album…love what you are you for the Airplay family. Guess what guys Jimmy and Bonzo are going to blow your fucking minds for the rest of the album. I promise you that…
@@AirplayBeats no problem guys I thoroughly enjoy what you are doing. I just noticed that I brain farted and used too instead of two. Spell check took over 😂 I do know the difference though. Thanks again you guys are the best on UA-cam in my opinion..
Without a doubt....you guys need to watch the concert movie--The Song Remains the Same. Not only are you hearing, but actually seeing this awesome performance. It always transports me back to that time..
When it comes time, The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song are a marvelous segue. Keep them together on one reaction and let the transition play. It sends chills...
Page had all the licks, all the solos. 1973 was Zeps prime musically and was Pagey at his best. Ive never heard any other guitar playing better than Page in 73'. And Ive listened to all the guitar greats
Zepp is the classical music of Rock'n Roll. In 100-years, assuming these recordings live on and continue to improve and enhance, Zepp will join the hallowed halls of Bach, Rach, Tcha, Wagner, Mozart, Strauss II, Beeth and the rest.
Hey gents . You should get the original No Quarter from the "original" Song Remains the Same. The solo is longer and better ..way better. They buildup is fantastic . Why Jimmy Page remastered it and edited it is a freakin mystery .
It's absolutely awesome to see two young gentlemen such as yourselves grooving to Led Zeppelin. How could anybody not love this stuff? Really enjoy watching your reactions to music you probably weren't familiar with. And yes, I love Jimmy Page. So skilled and yet so raw at the same time!
I agree with you. The best sound engineering. Especially it being 73. But being from N.J. area and going to concerts at that time M.S.G. always had the best sound system. IMO 😊
any live plans for this? that is the way to go. I know you did Rock and Roll, but the rest of the concert was more watchable as the band got warmed up. Would love to see live zep reactions to this album.
Fellas you mention being put into a trance and you were not alone. When this movie first came out select theaters were showing it for extended runs. I went with friends to see it a couple nights a week for about four weeks in a row. It has been many years now since I have watched but one scene always stuck in my mind was during this song and the camera shots of the crowd with one girl in particular who had a close up of her. And yes she looked like she was in a trance. Edited to add that this has possibly been the best 23 minutes I have spent on YT in maybe forever. Thanks for that.
Hey guys, great to see you. The studio version lead is amazing ! But the live lead in no quarter is so awesome. ! So good to see you guys. More please. Until next time stay well and poppin for fresh
I don't know how many times I watched this movie at the midnight showings in southern California...I owned the double live album as well as the DVD...it's also currently showing here on UA-cam's Free Movies channel.
Since you guys are into Led Zepplin you should look at Robert Plants solo career. Here's a few, Big log, Ship of fools, 29 palms. And he was also in the Honeydrippers, the big hit there was Sea of love. He also been working with Allison Krause , their great together.
What has always been so amazing to me is all the sound, the detail, the intricacies and fullness Led Zeppelin creates live with 3 instrumentalist, 3 men and a vocalist create all those interplays and dynamic sound. Astounding!!!! They were special! 1975 live versions of No Quarter gets even better, especially JPJ!!
I was at their last American show in Oakland, July 24th,1977. Still have my ticket stub too! Except for the dodgers hat, (GIANTS fan 🤣) it was a great reaction.
Please guys try to get the movie for the rest of the album. You get to see them playing these all time classic songs. Bonham on Moby Dick and Jimmy on Dazed and Confused! It takes part of the experience away!!!!!!
We dont get to see most of Page's solo during No Quarter, b/c of the lame short video the director put over the live footage, totally ruining the experience.
I normally don't write in comments, but after your reaction and the obvious love you preach for Since I've been loving you, I must recommend the BBC session version of Since I've Been Loving You, one of the best songs ever existed
Good to see you continuing the live. Live songs expanded and evolved from the studio tracks, and were always different from night to night....almost like jazz.
These shows were from their 73' tour at MSG. I saw one of them, was 15 yr's and lived on LI. Zeppelins 73' California shows are on a 3 cd box set called, How the West Was Won. 25 minute version of Whole Lotta Love and killer versions of Bring It On Home, Moby Dick (20 minutes)
NOBODY can tell me that any other musicians, individually or together, are better then these four. These four are the reason the gods created music to be performed, & they certainly did do that, & more.
I've watched the video on UA-cam 50 times or more. It's my favorite reaction vid from reactors. Plant and Page blow minds on this, and it never gets old watching them do it. So many young people get completely slammed into fandom with this visual/audio of these masters of the craft. Yes, we were blessed to grow up listening to them. But we are all blessed to have these recorded takes for all posterity.
Nice guys👍✌️ I spent yesterday evening binge watching your reactions to Zep 1 - Houses of the Holy, then sit down this evening to a new one! I hope you guys watch the Song Remains The Same movie. Get to see the perform. You can feel the grittiness of 70s New York.
so many young people tuning into corporate BS who will never hear this genius... but this music will endure for a thousand years.

I’ve listened to this 100’s of times and the intro and solo give me chills each and every time ! Wow
My goodness, I lived in a wonderful era! Damn
JPJ .. rock's MVP
Doesnt get enough credit does he. Amazing man. Definitely 4 GOAT but wish JPJ was credited more.❤
These two songs back to back phenomenal, almost as phenomenal as the song remains the same and the rain song
What ever you do don’t stop between the song remains the same and the rain song that’s a must play together due o
I was at their last American show in Oakland, July 24th,1977. Still have my ticket stub too!
Except for the dodgers hat, (GIANTS fan 🤣) it was a great reaction.
Hey guys! This is their concert film soundtrack!
U can see the film clip of this!!
You definitely need to watch the movie version of this music... amazing!!
The horrid short video over Page's solo totally ruins the song in the movie.
Just sitting back Smokin & Bourbon glass in hand. Watching you too chillin
Magnificent!
Thanks for sharing these amazing songs from a band that was so talented live! Led music never gets old. 🎹🎸🥁
Led Zeppelin The BEST
I normally don't write in comments, but after your reaction and the obvious love you preach for Since I've been loving you, I must recommend the BBC session version of Since I've Been Loving You, one of the best songs ever existed
My favorite side. So epic.
Good to see you continuing the live. Live songs expanded and evolved from the studio tracks, and were always different from night to night....almost like jazz.
The live version of No Quarter in my opinion is one of Pages best solo's. So much feeling
If and when you see the movie, you’ll see the audience was mesmerized just like y’all.
That whole album is lightning in a bottle.
I was there!! Such a phenomenal concert!! Mind blowing!👍💖 1973 at MSG! The BEST!
You guys really should be reacting to the live videos from these songs when they're available. And this is a good one.
Thanks!
This is my favorite live Zeppelin tune
Two masterpieces! Those guys were next level.
Nice guys👍✌️
I spent yesterday evening binge watching your reactions to Zep 1 - Houses of the Holy, then sit down this evening to a new one!
I hope you guys watch the Song Remains The Same movie. Get to see the perform. You can feel the grittiness of 70s New York.
