Quite simply, four of the most talented musicians got together and after their first rehearsal looked at each other and laughed! Because they knew! The rest is history. Without doubt the best band ever!
The way Bonzo gets in with Paige during the solo is amazing and in fact it's in most Zeppelin songs. It's part of what give Zeppelin it's unique sound.
I saw Led Zeppelin perform this song live in concert on August 19, 1970 in Kansas City. They are electrifying in person. Led Zeppelin is the blues on steroids.
Just to blow your mind a bit further, you'll notice there's keyboards & bass being played in this song the whole way through. But there's only the band on stage, 4 guys. John Paul Jones plays keyboards while at the same time playing the bass lines with foot pedals. Legend.
I’m a 25 year old woman, and Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time nobody has ever or will ever compare 🤘🏻it’s crazy watching them live like this at the end they’re still standing on the stage and I’m just sitting here waiting on them to spread their angel wings and fly away they’re so incredible ❤️
Yes they are that band! It's a righteous curse that each new Zeppelin tune you listen to becomes your new favourite. But don't you worry, that one tune will someday be your favourite once again.
I told a younger friend that Led Zep often said they are Blues influenced. He didnt believe me. So I had him sit and watch this. Its such and epic live performance on top of how good it also is studio version. This live version is a masterpiece.
Every other rock band wants, wanted, tried, died, to be these gentlemen, or heavily influenced. I guess my bias, but widely held, there is the Mighty Zep, then everyone else. ❤
The singer Robert Plant sings direct from his emotions. He said that after every live performance he can't remember exactly the way he sang each song because he was singing from his feelings. It also directs all the movements of his body on stage. He is a true blues artist who connects with his core every single time. And it's beautiful. He was a sex god of his time. He's still pretty d*mned hot even now 🔥🔥🔥
I saw the Physical Graffiti tour with my bf. There really is such raw sexual power in them. So much that my bf decided to heighten the experience for me. I shall say no more, but it was... unforgettable.
There is no one like Led Zeppelin before or since. When Bonzo (the drummer) passed, the band was done because all 4 were each so unbelievably unique and vital to the band, they were irreplaceable. It would be well worth your time to listen to the entire catalog. From blues, Rock, acoustic, funk, metal, reggae, etc- they were immaculate. Great review, sir. Here's a tidbit- they were so great that each live show was one of one, as the songs evolved onstage like no one else, all to keep it interesting for themselves and the audience.
The perfection on the solo (one take) on the album. Goosebumps. This live version is amazing in its own way. Anyone that got to see them live has memories for a lifetime.
Absolutely beautiful, perfect performance. Robert Plant has a voice like no other, there will never be another. Robert Plant and Janis Joplin have the market cornered on raw {white person} soul, in my opinion. Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands of all time. They were pressing the edges of the envelope of rock and creating a new path before most anyone else.. It is so sad that people of the last couple of generations have no idea who Led Zeppelin is. Those people are missing out on so much. Zep, The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, Chicago, The Beatles...these are just a few of the incredible talents that I grew up with and I consider myself so lucky that this is the case. Thank you for your reaction.
Led Zeppelin are the best band the world has ever seen. Their recorded albums are to their concerts, what a trailer is to a film. Their concerts went on for days, the songs went off on one, loosely based on what was recorded. Every time they were played live they were a different experience. So much love for them. ❤ and yes, not one bad song. No skipping in their albums!
Led Zeppelin is the best band there ever was or ever will be. Jimmy Page whenever he composed his songs he did it such a way that when you started listening to an album you could listen to it from beginning to the end and enjoy every song on it. That’s just how great they were
Please, let me laugh hard here... If LZ is the GOAT, where do you put Radiohead or Pink Floyd, where Fleetwood Mac or Yes, Talking Heads, CCR, Eagles, THE BEATLES & THE ROLING STONES? Man, that's the typical yell from a Michael Jackson fan. Open wide your ears and brain, you'll discover new worlds.
Those are all good bands. CCR and Yes, though? Thats pure narcolepsy. Music is so subjective. People can always find something they love or are more partial to. Most critics, other musicians, writers, etc will say Zeppelin is the greatest. Them or the Beatles.
@@ShawnConrad-tw8du and the majority of musical experts (and musicians) never name Led Zep in their top 5... Yes, YES is a great band. It seems you've never paid attention to them. Their songs are more complex, more rich in sounds and styles and they were really good musicians. Led Zep have a legend made of idolatry flying over their heads > just listen to this song LIVE; the structure of the song can shit over not only to Led Zep. PS: I'm not a big fan of Yes in case you or others gonna argue that. ua-cam.com/video/LPvAgQaKpCw/v-deo.html
@@cycleoflife565 you better try to learn to argue instead of making things up. I'm not talking about taste but about copy&paste, plagiarism. For your information I still like LZ and TWO, I'm not the only one saying it: there are lots of videos, articles and books talking about how both, Page and Plant, had copied everything they could. ¡Y! You don't know what "my tastes" are so stop talking rubbish. I have musical "tastes", not a single taste. I grew up listening to psychedelic rock, progressive rock, jazz, electronica (all genres), experimental, blues, pop, classical and symphonic, celtic, folk.... Don't waste your time with me and listen to more music. Or learning to argue with good and real arguments.
I love the live version but you should definitely familiarize yourself with the studio version. They are significantly different. The studio version is incredible
Actually you also need to hear the studio version. This is a great live rendition but not the best and I bet you are astonished with that comment but it is true. This is how f'ing amazing Led Zeppelin was. I recommend watching and hearing "How Many More Times" from the Royal Albert Hall performance. Thank you for posting your reaction. I truly get a kick when people start listening to LZ and they become addicted. 😂🎉😅😊
I have heard it said that Led Zep were a blues based group that also did rock and roll. Simply the greatest grouping of talent, singer, guitarists and drummer EVER. 50 years on and still rocking.❤❤❤😂😂😂
Also the original TSRTS version is much better than this one. God knows why (I assume Page) has put this one out instead. I'm talking about the version where the camera lingers on an Indian (?) couple on the audience then the girl just gets a huge grin on her face. Has the edge over this version for sure, Page's playing is cleaner for a start :) That's my humble opinion anyway!
Led Zeppelin is simply the best there ever was or will be. Genius from another dimension. And to think this is just *one song* in an entire concert! The term 'Rock God' was invented for them.
Jimmy Page's chord progressions are insane and incredibly original. His style is multi-dimensional and his skill is off the chart. This is one of, if not, my favorite LZ song.
Led Zeppelin emerged almost out of nowhere with four incredible unique musicians. Yep! Aliens. I'm so lucky to have grown up with this music - I can hear and feel every atom of my 15 year old self in these pieces. OMG. It tears me up to listen.
Led Zeppelin = Jimmy Page - created the band, guitarist, produced all their albums, John Paul Jones - bassist, keyboardist, multi-instrumentalist, John Bonham - drummer extraordinaire (passed in 1980 and the band broke up), Robert Plant - vocalist, harmonica player. Their general "sound" is hard rock/heavy blues, but they played folk, world, prog, ethereal, and more. Musical hallmarks are "light and shade", "tight but loose", and "whisper to thunder". Every song is different because they always pushed ever forward towards the creative horizon; there was no laurel resting here. I hope you go back and listen to the studio version of this song because they always radically changed songs once they took them onstage; it's somewhat akin to learning the "rules" of the studio version before you watch them break all the rules when they played it live. A "bad" song is relative to the listener however, for me, they don't have any bad songs, but perhaps two or three that I consider "lesser" favorites. Zep's music is for moods and emotions so you will find there are songs that fit a certain way you're feeling, so even though you might enjoy one song less than another, you will often find it fits a certain situation and you'll know it when it comes around. If you've come to truly feel a bond to their music, I *implore* you to start at the beginning and go in album/track order. The musical journey will be astonishing and all the Zep fans will eagerly follow every post.
I used to call it the penny drop to myself when discovering Zeppelin. Initially not too keen on one song or another, and then months or sometimes years later, the penny drops. Great post.
@@AleisterCrowley. Thank you! I truly believe they all put such great care, attention to detail, purpose and meaning into crafting every song construction that you can't help but have that become audibly translatable into an emotional response. A surface response might be "Dude, that's a banger." and there's nothing wrong with that because sometimes that's all you want and that's cool, but I guarantee Zeppelin's music provides opportunities for richer communions if you listen.
@@henriettaskolnick4445 Yep. I discovered Zeppelin in 1991 aged 18, no one was into them, never heard them on the radio it was all rap and grunge. At this time I was into The Doors quite heavily. Then one fateful night a friend asked to play this Zeppelin tape he had cobbled together again (my flat, it was a party flat), he had been asking for a few weeks and I kept putting him off because I thought Zeppelin were some heavy metal Iron Maiden type shit. There were 3 of us left at this point in the night 1 am ish, me and 2 of my best mates. So I said yes I was thinking just let him play it and he will stop asking. I should mention here we had all visited Lucy and were well versed in her tricks. The first song that played was Babe, and by the time it ended my entire perception of what I thought I knew was completely annihilated. Suffice to say what became present was realised. Brought up in a C of E school...assembly every day 30 minutes, never felt a thing. I then played Babe and No Quarter back to back for 5 hours, to the point my other friend grabbed the tape and threw it out of the window 4 stories down. I spent the next 4 months getting to know Zeppelin in this frame of mind, since a lock is there by deliberate design not to be broken, and a broken lock has it's dues to be paid, also by deliberate design. A lesson that cost me 18 months of sanity. I thought they were American for ages lol, never knew what they looked like, it was an amazing journey of discovery. I remember one night alone in my flat electricity cut, I had no money for the meter but I didn't care cuz I was with Lucy a walkman and Dazed. One of the greatest nights of my life, I was electrified within. Both of my friends in that room committed suicide within 2-3 years, a fact I sometimes think about, the only people I've ever known to do that. Feel uncomfortable mentioning that but I think it may be relevant. Or maybe not. To anyone else that reads this I am not recommending this path, it is not dangerous, it is Danger itself. Old, Ancient beyond time, there are many other ways that take a lesser toll. I know what you say, and I know what you mean. Here's to you, my rarely seen sister, may God Bless you.
I saw them in Knebworth in '79, when I was 17. Life changing, weren't they? My favourite band for over 50 years. Enjoy, Polo, and yes, just about every single song is a gem!
@@AB-ef7ud Knebworth is a natural amphitheatre and we stood near the middle so the sound was great, a good mix, but loads of bum notes from Jimmy at first! Jealous both times they were to play in Buffalo tragedy struck Robert Plants son died then Bonham died was going to go to both shows bummer
Caught them in winnipeg on July 1st 1970, been a fan ever since hearing their first album
Just to blow your mind a bit further, you'll notice there's keyboards & bass being played in this song the whole way through. But there's only the band on stage, 4 guys. John Paul Jones plays keyboards while at the same time playing the bass lines with foot pedals. Legend.
Geddy Leee, and Neil Peart, both had foot pedals borrowed from the Organ
@@canvashomesusa8729 ok tom sawyer this band has good vocals (mostly)
I’m a 25 year old woman, and Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time nobody has ever or will ever compare 🤘🏻it’s crazy watching them live like this at the end they’re still standing on the stage and I’m just sitting here waiting on them to spread their angel wings and fly away they’re so incredible ❤️
I’m a 71 yr old woman and Led Zepplin has always been my favorite❤ followed by Pink Floyd
And I’m a 56 year old guy who saw them in 84 still my favourite band of all time
@@NedKelly1967Unless they were able to bring Bonham back from the dead, I'm afraid you didn't.
@@NedKelly1967 I’m sorry but you didn’t do that. There was no Led Zeppelin in 1984.
Yes they are that band! It's a righteous curse that each new Zeppelin tune you listen to becomes your new favourite. But don't you worry, that one tune will someday be your favourite once again.
Yes, Robert Plant is the epitome of what a frontman rock star! He set the bar high and many followed...thanks for reacting my favorite band!!!!
Yeah, I always thought of DLR as a cartoon version of Robert Plant, even though DLR mirrored Jim Dandy.
Robert is THE voice of rock music. 👍
"SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU" is 1 of the Greatest Blues Songs of All-Time and Truly a Led Zeppelin Musical MASTERPIECE...
Led Zep 3 my fav!
Musical geniuses
The fact that he picked out the drums of John Bonham among a masterful Page solo is a sign of a discerning reactor.
Bonham, Ward, or Moon? 😏
Or he smoked a doobie.
Agreed - made me smile
What go you mean
What do you mean
Led Zepplin is the best Rock & Roll ever !!!!!
Amen to that
Totally agree. ❤
I told a younger friend that Led Zep often said they are Blues influenced. He didnt believe me. So I had him sit and watch this. Its such and epic live performance on top of how good it also is studio version. This live version is a masterpiece.
I like the studio 100x’s better. Wish you had listened to that first
No one label can encapsulate all of Led Zeppelin's music, but I think of most of it as "heavy blues."
So, now what does he think?
And initially they stole a lot of blues songs from the masters without remuneration until they got sued. It’s important to be aware of that too.
@@JPMaddenWell said, I agree
Every other rock band wants, wanted, tried, died, to be these gentlemen, or heavily influenced. I guess my bias, but widely held, there is the Mighty Zep, then everyone else. ❤
Great blues-rock band.
I just had the conversation with my husband last week about how I think EVERY ONE of their songs were my favorite at one time or another.
My favorite Led Zeppelin song is the last one I heard
There are some who just play music and then there's Led Zeppelin who makes love to their instruments ❤
ya ya ya that drummer! bro.... "THE DRUMMER of ALL TIME"!
Four of the best musicians on planet earth Led Zeppelin is a epic rock band
Yes, no doubt about it - Robert Plant was/is a rock icon. The entire band deserve all the love the world has shown them.
Dazed and confused, live 28 min. same concert. A must to listen .
With the violin bow that was insane
The singer Robert Plant sings direct from his emotions. He said that after every live performance he can't remember exactly the way he sang each song because he was singing from his feelings. It also directs all the movements of his body on stage. He is a true blues artist who connects with his core every single time. And it's beautiful. He was a sex god of his time. He's still pretty d*mned hot even now 🔥🔥🔥
YESSS Annie, to everything you just said.... This is the most amazing arrangement of my favorite Led Zeppelin song but I love them all.....
Their concerts sold out! Always sold out! The last time they played over 5 million people wanted to see them. Can you imagine?
N O ONE
White Brits who loved Blues and soul from the 50's and 60's can sing like that!!
The perfection on the solo (one take) on the album. Goosebumps. This live version is amazing in its own way. Anyone that got to see them live has memories for a lifetime.
LZ hit us broadside in tge late 60s. Still listening. I’m 73. Yeah. We all love the blues. Blues were prominent for so many years
Absolutely beautiful, perfect performance.
The late 60's and 70's were my favorite time of my life. The music, oh boy the music. It was such a remarkable time. Loved it. 🎸🎺🎧💽🥁🎤🥢
Wow. This seldom happens. I actually agree with every single word you said there. Every. Single. Word.
Very well put.
That start to the verse really reminded me of Janis.
Chicago, the first popular group to make playing trumpet cool...😊
I’ve heard this song literally hundreds of times and I still get chills watching this.
May I suggest that you listen to the studio version of this one? It's amazing!
This live version is also amazing..... Heard the studio version 100 times, but this is outer space!
I was thinking the same thing.
Nothing can compare not now not ever, they are and always have been magic,
"Aliens live among us"...man you are spot on. That is the greatest way ever to describe Led Zeppelin...I will be using that for now on.
Yes but they suffered for it too. They had a lot of humanity on their shoulders.

@@oskarobitIt’s a waste of time to disparage someone because their tastes don’t align with yours.
You won’t be let down. I still cry. 50 years
That is why they are one of a kind , they could pull off all genres . Each song sounds different and never dated.
The studio version of this song is perfection.
The studio version is amazing. Give it a listen.
It is MUCH better. 100%
I agree. I absolutely LOVE this song but it also is a heart breaker 😢
the BBC live version blows any other out of the water... seriously
I agree. I requested this review via Buy Me a Coffee and asked him to listen to the studio version. C’est la vie. Hopefully he listens to it one day.
This entire concert is one of the best, if not the best, live performances in the history of 6 strings
Weird, the audio is similar, but not what’s on TSRTS. Hmm
The greatest show ever performed. Period. 😎
@@franktraina4147 I agree
i was there. 😊
This is the greatest band in my opinion.
Absolutely
Led Zeppelin is probably the greatest band of all time.
@@IANJOLLY-w6t not “probably “…IS the greatest band of all time
Led Zeppelin is simply the best there ever was or will be.
I AM IN LOVE, OVER, OVER AND OVER! I have done lost my mind, love this track! Led Zeppelin one of the greatest bands ever, in my opinion.💙 WOW‼️💯
Led Zeppelin emerged almost out of nowhere with four incredible unique musicians. Yep! Aliens. I'm so lucky to have grown up with this music - I can hear and feel every atom of my 15 year old self in these pieces. OMG. It tears me up to listen.
My favorite Zep song. Gives me goosebumps...goes into my bloodstream
I was about half-way through your post when I went: This HAS to be Henrietta! And I was correct, of course! Hiya, lady!👋
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Heya! Always good to see you! 🙂
My undisputed favorite song of all time! So damn powerful and beautiful in every way!

It feels great to see younger generations and new fans like you , enjoying the great talent they brought
I’m so happy I grew up in the 70s. The best bands and music. I used to go to concerts that would last hours just because of the jamming on each song. It was an experience. Nothing like it today.
