This is odd. I just weighed 100 g of almonds and that came to approximately 2/3 of a cup in order to consume 270 mg of magnesium. In another video, we were told to eat only 10 almonds per day. I weighed 10 almonds and that came to 8 grams. Please explain how we are to consume 100 grams or 2/3 cup of almonds without killing our stomach linings. Please explain how we are to get maximum magnesium out of nuts and natural foods.
@@lindashankle9645 I have not given you a prescription on how much of each food to eat. Let me repeat that, I haven't said you should eat 100gm of each food. The 100 gm is a reference point. It makes sense to have a definitive and fixed reference point when comparing nutrients in foods. I have used 100gm here. How much of the foods you consume is up to you but at least you can easily work out how much Mg you are getting depending on how much you choose to consume using the 100 gm reference point. How much you absorb is another matter altogether. And you have different foods to choose from. It's all about getting a good spread of foods to get the desired RDA
One way to incorporate that wonderful food is to have a homemade chocolate nuts bar that will supply the most magnesium in the diet. Thank you, Dr Joe.
Great info! Thank you Dr Joe. I use Almond Milk (sugarless) with Chia Seeds (occasionally Oats) topped with Cacao Powder, (when I crave chocolate) & roasted cashews along with 1 to 3 pcs of dates. I am not diabetic but dates (Ajwa type) are a little too sweet for my tastebuds so if I make a big batch of Chia Pudding then it will be 3 dates but more often its 1 medium sized date for my breakfast bowl with a very generous sprinkle of chopped roasted cashews. I also use Cacao Powder in my Banana Walnut loaves.

Does the amount really matter ? Finally, I wish you'd continue videos as such covering a single vital compound and vitamins on a weekly bases. BIG THANK YOU Dr. Joe.
I'd love to do those kind of videos but unfortunately UA-cam politics discourages that. The channel is already struggling enough as my presentations are leaning more to being too much of an expert than being a UA-camr
I think the nuts can be consumed raw. Somewhere I have read the Dr. Gregor advises not to roast the nuts because the oil in them might get oxidised. Almonds should be soaked before consuming in order to reduce the toxins In them.
Thank you! Very well presented and you made me feel like trying rolled oats (even though they remind me of sitting in a high chair, at the age of, maybe, two?) in front of a bowl of cold, curdling … rolled oats or the like. I now understand there is a good reason to eat them, not just "because I said so". 😀

Peanuts and Cashew nuts don't necessarily cause inflammation. There is a small argument that they also are rich in Omega 6 fatty acids, so if you consume a lot of them you'll skew your Omega 3:Omega 6 ratio for the worse which could be potentially inflammatory. But that applies more to their oils (peanut oil and cashew nut oil). Whole foods are always better than derivatives

Soaking, sprouting, boiling reduces phytates if that's a concern of yours. Phytates have benefits too by the way
