      Hey Dr Joe trusting you're well sir! I received a phone call from my doctor (UK) today with the news that cholesterol level is 7.7 (5.2 and below is the aim). So I have 6 months to make changes to my diet and lifestyle or else tablets will be the next step (I was offered the opportunity to start immediately). A question. I've come across news recently that chia seeds are acidic and therefore inflammatory, but that basil seeds are healthier, also psyllium husks and linseeds. Grateful for your opinion please. With thanks in advance

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  6 днів тому

      @@marciajohnson1825 Chia seeds are not inflammatory. That's wrong information. Yes, you can use psyllium husks and flaxseeds (linseeds) too

      @@drjoetvMDDr Joe, thank you so much for responding so quickly. I admit i was a little taken aback after that call this morning and thought of you immediately. I'd value your thoughts on basil seeds also please. Good/bad?

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    01:10 🌱 Chia seeds are effective in lowering cholesterol due to their soluble fiber content.
    03:41 🍞 Whole grain rye bread, rich in fiber and micronutrients, aids in reducing cholesterol levels.
    04:48 ⚫️ Black beans, high in soluble fiber, are an excellent choice for a cholesterol-lowering breakfast.
    05:29 🍐 Pears, packed with vitamin C and soluble fiber (pectin), contribute to cholesterol reduction.
    05:53 🥣 Rolled oats, rich in beta-glucan, are a potent source of soluble fiber for lowering cholesterol levels.
    08:10 🌾 Buckwheat (Bwheat) is a gluten-free grain with abundant soluble fiber, offering an alternative for cholesterol management.
    Thanks Doc.

    Thank you Dr Joe. Can eating any of these food everyday help to reduce the cholesterol? Must be all the 5 before I can get the result?

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  11 місяців тому

      You should incorporate the foods into your diet. You don't have to eat them everyday but eat them as often as possible and of course you include all the foods I talk about for cholesterol reduction on this channel. It's a combination of all the things you do that makes it work

    Love your presentation! Love your accent! And of course, I love the content. Buckwheat, I sit on that, as it is in my Zafu. Now I am going to have to look up some recipes and try some internally. Thank you! P.S. I will also order your book, as my husband has high BP, and I just had a Heart Attack, even though I didn't have high BP previously.

    Thanks for the recommendations Dr Joe.
    Going to give the Rye bread a go, as the likes of Ezekiel bread and sprouted wholegrain breads seem hard to get hold of in my area.
    The rye bread looks quite stodgy so might stick to one slice

      Yes, like I said, it takes some getting used to. The texture is totally different from any other bread you are familiar with

      Felix, your question is a book and as it happens I have written a book about it. The book is not physically available in Ghana but you can get the digital copy. You will need to register to have an account with either Amazon UK or Amazon US though before you can make a purchase

      You can actually source them online. A lot are available in local supermarkets. It depends on where you live. Use the ones locally available to you if you are struggling

      You won't if you don't watch all of my videos unfortunately. That's how UA-cam AI treats my subscribers. If you watch every video I publish, you are kept in the loop and will be notified. If you don't, UA-cam AI throws you out because it concludes you are no longer interested in the channel. I have complained to UA-cam about this without success

    I always enjoy your videos Dr joe, my problem now is how to get all this breakfast food that can low cholesterol. I'm in ibadan Nigeria, the only get oat and pear, how can I get the remaining ones?

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  10 місяців тому +1

      Use what's available to you locally. There's not much else you can do if some of the foods aren't locally sourced. Something is always better than nothing, if you get my drift

    I grew up eating buckwheat and I love it. However, I hesitate to eat in now because it's very high in oxalic acid, and I have a very small kidney stone that I don't want to grow any larger.

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  8 місяців тому +1

      Fair enough. Kidney stone sufferers need to watch their oxalate intake
