Had been using a 1st gen air fryer from QVC for 9 years. Just bought a Ninja Foodi FD401 last year. It’s a world of difference. Pressure cooked split pea soup, took 20 minutes instead of 4 1/2 hours in a crockpot. All types of ribs fall off the bone, braised meat is tender, pulled pork shreds easily. I usually just use my air fryer for things like re heating left overs and raw chicken wings.. they come out amazing without any batter or "oil".. many people look at the air fryer solely as a "deep fryer" substitute. this video is aimed at them.

8:04 regarding cooking raw vegetables vs frozen I'm not sure you've thought this through. Place your vegetables in a large glass container with a lid and microwave them for a minute or two, give the container a quick shake to move the vegetables around then microwave them for another minute or two. At this point the vegetables will be quite warm inside allowing the air fryer to cook them evenly through, just drain the water then oil spray and season as usual.
I had an expensive air fryer, I found that it was exactly the same as using a fan oven but with limited space to put the food. Chips were dry and not very nice at all, so I went back to a deep oil fryer for the chips and don`t worry about the oil, just make sure that the oil is up to temperature before the potato chips are put it (I mean chipped as in chipped potatoes, not crisps) I sold the air fryer and bought a multi cooker, so much better because you can even do the sauce at the same time.
the point of oven or air fryer chips is that you don’t use (as much or any) oil and therefore are healthier. I actually find it funny that your “I went back to” was reverting to the unhealthy method😂
@@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken as i said, the chips were dry and not very nice at all, I did not buy the thing for health reasons, I bought it so that it would be cleaner than using a deep fat fryer and not have the trouble of changing and getting rid of the used oil. Nothing else I tried in the air-fryer was very good to eat either, if I would have been contented to eat more healthily without having a good taste from the food, I would have been happy but everything tasted bland in comparison and I like my meals to be tasty. I have a double oven as part of my main oven and that is a bit larger than an air-fryer and probably costs a similar about of money to use, for chips, I use a deep fat fryer again and they taste far better than those from an air-fryer, the makers say that you only need a spoon full of oil but that is a lie because all you get is baked dry chips, not proper chips. If you make sure that a deep fat fryer has reached a very hot temperature, the hot oil quickly forms a skin on the chips and they don`t get at all oily but they still have the real chip quality.
This is the only video that I have come across that recommends using PAM or a similar spray. All the other videos say the ingredients in PAM do not work well with air frying.
I know you asked this a year ago and have probably made your choice but, just in case: As mentioned the Ninja dual basket but I have the Ninja Flexidrawer 10.4 litre airfryer where I can use the whole as one huge basket or put in dividers and use one or both sides. Definitely you would get a large family meal in there. It bakes, roasts, reheats, dehydrates, proves dough and there is even a maxi crisp option and none of those options need preheating. You can ook one thing on one side and something else on the other side and set it to finish cooking both sides at the same time. A time and money saver in my opinion. No, I'm not afilliated to Ninja in any way, I just love the machine!
1) Big mistake using spray on oils like Pam-bad for nonstick surfaces. Get an oil mister and use olive or avocado oil. 2) No to oven type air fryers, too big a pain to clean, inconsstent results vs a basket. A shake or quick stir vs changing racks. 3) A 3 to 5 minute preheat for some foods -none for others. 4) wipe out, spray Dawn onand let sit, rewipe and rinse. 5) a 5.8 to 6 qt size square is more useful space.
Best baked potatoe..... Large potato, clean and dry well. Coat potato with any oil (I use olive oil spray). Salt potato well. Use a knife and puncture all over. Set for 25 minutes then rotate potato for another 25 minutes. I know it's a long cook time but the hot air fryer turns the potato with crispy potato skins and soft fluffy inside. Try at least once.....if you like potato skins.
I have used my Air Fryer two years and Love It ! ... Coating the food in Oil is a Must ! ... Don't forget the Cooking chamber is an oven that will continue to cook after the convection ends ... But in the end ... Trial and Error is the only way to learn ... because food comes in all different sizes , shapes and thicknesses .... Now I use the fat drippings in the bottom to use as Oil and brush it on my food ...... The only things I don't like are ... It's hard to Clean and Smokes at higher temperatures !
The Bravo XL is where it's at. Don't get the little basket models. Models like the bravo XL are much more versatile. You can air fry OR bake OR roast or even just keep ur food warm. It's basically a small oven that happens to air fry. U can make pizzas and wings in the same appliance. It's fucking amazing.
I have a Philips xl but bought a kmart air fryer while on holiday and it's actually pretty good for a cheap machine. I use it for doing bacon and sausages now, saves getting fat splattered all through the philips fryer.
I bought a Cosori oven with air fryer. It is awesome. We never use.our regular oven anymore. It preheats so much faster. It also is a convection oven, dehydrator, fermenter, broiler, along with the air fryer setting.
My biggest problem with cooking with my brand new air fryer is what little oil sticks to the pan and basket is hard baked on. It's impossible tremove ack down to original service. Even with soaking vinegar and hot water for an hour
As last resort, try Baking Soda & hot water soak for half hour. Then scrub with stiff brush. I clean up after every use and have never needed to use the Baking Soda method ; just regular dish washing liquid and stiff brushing works practically all the time. Been doing so for past 10 years.

Nonsense. Why do they always show the basket filled to the top with French fries when the instructions clearly tell you to do one layer at a time? Click bait.
If you fill a air fryer bucket to the top with fries, it won't cook. No air circulation. Also, buying a big air fryer and loading it up, isn't going to turn out the best food. For the same reasons. The one layer in a big air fryer means more stuff on that layer will cook. Height is really a waste of time. Cooking a whole chicken is fine, but use an air fryer recipe.
I don’t use ANY oil in my air fryer and the results are delicious!
Well take a look on UA-cam and search for the Ninja double basket airfryer. For use it's very fast.
@@daytona1212 If your (british) chips were dry, you overcooked them!
@@icarossavvides2641 My chips came out okay. Honest Chris was the one having problems with his chips.
the point of oven or air fryer chips is that you don’t use (as much or any) oil and therefore are healthier.
Nice tips, thanks!
This is really good PSA 😊 about what to do..
This is the only video that I have come across that recommends using PAM or a similar spray. All the other videos say the ingredients in PAM do not work well with air frying.
Exactly! I have a Cosari AF and use Avocado oil spray from Walmart, due to high smoke point of 500. Works great!
I want to get an airfryer, and I want it to be decently sized to cook for a family of 4 and to be able to bake, fry, etc.
Any recommendations?
Ninja dual basket XL
Cosari is a great brand! It has a big basket enough to feed four. Plus, it’s easy to clean. 😊
Gonna check both out. Thanks
@@lunasmum6869 I have actually bought one already. It is decent but it seems like the ninja is far better.
It is also far more expensive
U need some kind of oil still!! Pam, shortening, sprayed on the tater tots, fries. Toss them and turn things over. 🥔🍗
well explained thanks
Please do I Rob oil on the chips before putting it in the air frayer ,cos my chip are getting dried 😢
Look it up on youtube.
Had to laugh when the person pushed the "red hot" thermometer with their finger 🤦🤪🤣
I feel like a lot of these "tips" are for people who don't know how to cook - with or without an air fryer
🤣 exactly!
Amazing
Misatke No. 1 - trying to cook packing peanuts in one :D
An oven thermometer is Vital . And a temp probe is also
I am supremely happy with my Instant Vortex!
Useful info.
You may like using Avocado oil instead, it has a high smoke point of 500. 😊
Do not use Pam, it brakes down the nonstick surface.
I don't want an air fryer anymore.
this video should be included with every air fryers
those manuals are just meh
The Bravo XL is where it's at. Don't get the little basket models. Models like the bravo XL are much more versatile. You can air fry OR bake OR roast or even just keep ur food warm. It's basically a small oven that happens to air fry. U can make pizzas and wings in the same appliance. It's fucking amazing.
Is this for spackers?
He touched the hot oven thermometer with his bare finger .... uh, ya, no.
If you're considering purchasing an air fryer. Make sure it's top of the line. Power xl , cosori, ninja, you can't go wrong with a name brand.
Power XL is amazing
What about Russell Hobbs?
Why don't they ever mention about acrylamide in air fryer videos?
Why don't you yanks use normal units like celcius?
Why do Limeys use the term Yanks?
@@dlewis9760 derived from "Yankee". So do you measure your weight in terms of pounds or big macs?
Don't use a spray bottle! The propellants can damage the non-stick coating.
Hard boiled eggs 270° for 12 minutes
How do you clean the top of your air fryer, almost impossible. Please advise
next time you turn it on it will burn off the residue from the last time you used it
I just soak cloth. In washing liquid, and clean, around the grill.. Not had a problem... 👍
Lay it down on the back side so you can see the inside. Then just wipe clean with your favorite cleaner.
The Ninja is the best damn thing ever!!!
This should be a podcast
So add oil even when the manufacturer says you don't have to on every type of food?
Thought it was for oil free cooking. What's the point if you still need to use oil?
No need to use oil. Tastes great without it.
The sound of a lot of oil being added "Spritz, spritz".
I never preheat. I mostly use mine to reheat leftovers, and sometiimes cooke seared steak and hamburgers.
Great video
'Air fryer' is obviously a misnomer. They are actually small turbo ovens.
Ima gonna make that big flower...blooming onion in there now that I saw it is this vid clip!! YUM
You forget to mention that yes whilst you are cooking from raw that things like chicken wings and nuggets are already cooked and only require warming.
yes, you can just throw your food in and turn it on.
Clearly you don’t own an air fryer
Can i use aluminium foil in airfryer?
Yes and parchment paper.
@@Crashed131963 Be careful with the paper. If you put something on the paper that is too small, the paper may be sucked up by the air into the heater element and char. I did that. DIdn't see flame, but heard fluttering paper. Opened it up and had charred paper.
No ! It's dangerous don't use it
Which is d best air fryer??
They've taken it's bulk into account.
Here's a tip just use a regular deep fryer that takes oil
UA-cam everything and see how it's made .
I did a 4lb meatloaf in 35 min in my airfryer and it turned out perfect.
I can’t get past the chemical smell in my new air fryer. I’ve had it for about a year and used it twice . It smells so strong and the food tastes like the smell
None, I would never get one of these as a gift. i will stick with my regular oven for cooking or go out and eat at a restaurant.
