The silicone liner for the inside is so that the nonstick liner is not damaged, as the nonstick liner if/when damaged introduces carcinogen to the food. Of late, the uncoated steel baskets are being recommended, I have a coated one, trying out the silicone liner soon myself, for this reason.
Thank you. I’m just beginning my airfryer journey. Yes I’m late to the party because sometimes new appliances are fads and I didn’t think I needed another appliance. 😂
I’m using mine for the first time this weekend! I’ve had it in the cabinet for 3 years! 😂 I’m going to make pork chops and I’m excited to see how it goes!
I disagree on the parchment paper liners... when you air fry lots of batches of meat, that basket ends up very messy and the liners make the clean up so much easier. They also contain a surprising amount of the mess made by certain foods so you hardly ever have to clean the basket in between cooking some foods. I love it.
Yep - ruined my initial basket not thinking and trying to clean a mess -- peeled the coating like steel wool on a teflon surface. Papers catch a lot of the oils - toss em and then wipe with paper towels. Eliminates a vast amount of fats that I don't want in my drain. Soft sponge cleanup.
Here’s a plug for parchment liners. There is a biscuit mix that i make in the air fryer which would fall through the holes if it weren’t for the liner.
The parchment paper is great.. I use it all the time. I buy the ones that look like a big cupcake cup. It's not really for cleaning purposes. It's great for drippy stuff like cheese that you don't want dripping through the grates and getting lost. It's also great for when I wanna make a french toast so the egg doesn't stick on grate and ruin the teflon. It's wonderful for softer things like salmon too; esp if you are cooking it with a sauce, so the sauce doesn't drip down, and you can remove the salmon in one piece by simply lifting the paper.
i use the same ! And i have little baking tray for my Cosori, im surprised they wont deliver them with the Metal Tray, and Rack, meat works perfecktly in here. Also collects all the grease in it no big cleaning work in the basket
This is the first air fryer I have ever owned. It works well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB and, if you use the proper supplied silicone tray, keeps the food separate from the oil\grease of cooking. I cooked pizza, hamburger, lasagna, etc all with good results. (I also purchased some paper inserts to cover the silicone trays, just not to have to clean the trays.) Recommended. Just make sure to REMOVE the PAPER INSERT below the air fryer tray before using the air fryer! And yes, I have experienced a bit of an "electrical"-type smell after cooking items. It seems to have gotten less with time and did surprise my nose the first time I smelled it.
Silicone liners are an absolute must. They’re designed to make clean up easy (which is exactly what they do) and everything cooks the same as without them. Same as parchment.
Exactly. I use silicone baskets in my Ninja dual air fryer. They work great and the silicone baskets just go into the dishwasher. I am really cross with this woman who obviously hasn't trid the silicone baskets or mats because she says she "doesn't know what they are for" which is a pretty silly thing to say. If she's going to do stuff like this she should use everything she mentions so she can give an informed opinion.
@@ellem6050Hi. I learned a few years ago breads and other people foods can hurt birds. They shouldn’t be fed breads, fats, old bird food, nuts (meant for people), pet food, raw meat, potato chips, & honey. I used to save up old dried bread until I realized it could hurt them. I think if you’re feeding buzzards it might be ok. They must have cast iron stomachs. I’ve never heard of a buzzard needing antacid tablets 😂.
I don’t always use parchment paper, butI use the ones with the holes when I’m making something messy like a pork tenderloin. I also use them for things like salmon to help me get the salmon out of the air fryer more easily. I now also sometimes use the parchment without holes if I’m making something with a marinade that I want my food to cook in.
The silicone trivets are perfect for holding food in place when needed. Example: When I air fry tortilla shells into chips the trivets stops the chips from flying up into the fan. A must have in my opinion.
The silicon sheets for cooking are handy if you reheat something in a plate that might scratch the basket. I'd say they are rather useful. The parchment paper can be used in the same way and a pack of them is less expansive and will last a long time if you use like 1 a week.
I definitely appreciate the parchment liners since I cook very small amounts, but sometimes 3-4 different things in a row (Happy Hour at home on the side patio in the sun). Being able to toss the previous parchment helps keep flavors more untainted by the foods I just finished cooking. I also am challenged with the Dawn Powerwash. The scent makes me ill - barf, headache, etc. I need an unscented option.
Silicone cooking mat ( with holes in it) instead of parchment paper, use them every day. Cooks great and easy clean in the dishwasher. And my silicone pot is great as well.
I've been cooking for over 50 years and love parchment paper for cookies and other things cooked in the oven. I also line my skillet with parchment paper to make cleanup easier. The skillet is large so the paper is not exposed to the gas stove's flames.
I just bought a small Air Fryer because I had never used one before and didn't realize how versatile these Fryers are. After a month of using the small fryer, I bought a bigger one because I thought a smaller one would be fine for a single guy like me; I was wrong. Thanks for the info! Eric
hey Eric i am thinking on buying an airfryer and a rice cooker, How many liter capacity was the small on and how mane the big one. I am afraid i will have the same problem, i am single guy but i dont know if a small airfryer is the right choice!
@SkulosGav I have a 5Q one and it's just my husband and I but I wish I had at least a 10Q. We use ours daily and the biggest issue is having to cook in batches because there's just not enough room... ie: one grilled zucchini won't allow anything else to fit. Same when I make him grilled salmon and asparagus... not enough room. Same problem if I make him a burger and fries. I'm really hoping he gets me a bigger one for Xmas.
I agree that the thermometer is essential. Before owning an air fryer, pork chops always turned out so dry and not delicious. But now I take out the chops when they reach around 140-150° and they are tender, juicy and delicious. (I first pat dry, spritz with avocado oil, sprinkle lemon pepper, serve with a simple sour cream & horseradish sauce.)
I have the same brand of thermometer as she mentioned. It's just wonderful. And so very helpful! Makes a huge difference when cooking meat: chicken, lamb steak. Well worth the modest price.
The parchment paper is amazing for keeping things from sticking. There are a few things that I put in that no matter how much I spray the bottom first if I don't use that parchment paper it sticks. That parchment paper saves me from a whole lot of stuck on mess.
I put a round metal cookie cutter on top of bread or any food that can be sucked up towards the heating element. It gets hot but my breads still toast very well.
I do use the papers for things like warming up pizza or something that could crumble when you put it inside or take it out of the airfryer. They would work great for nachos too because you just lift out the whole paper and set it on your plate, then toss it when you are done. Love the papers for some things. I also use the silicone mats over the teflon grate, I do this because it is non stick and easy to clean. I love them because the grate does start to wear and you don't want to eat carcinogens and the silicone mat just keeps your food from sticking to that grate and eating things that are really not meant to eat. Also, I make homemade chicken tenders and they would stick to the bottom of that grate, you don't have to worry about it with the silicone mats. Those are the only two items I don't agree with. The rest, I totally agree!!!
There are input meat temperatures for 5 to 6 different types of meat and you can do it manually as well! When the thermometer hits the temperature of that particular type of meat when that meat is selected, it will beep and tell you that it’s already at that temperature or higher! Best digital thermometer I’ve seen!
Top tip: When you need to refill your dawn spray, just by regular dawn dish soap. Fill the spray bottle about 1/3 full with the dish soap and then the other 2/3 add water. That is literally what they do to make this product. Give it a spritz it's the exact same thing. You'll save a ton of money
Ty....I am new to air fryers...I have bought a couple pans because the ones I have don't fit in my fryer... Like small bread loaf pans.... I'm really enjoying experimenting with my fryer
Hey Lisa! I have a 5.8 qt Cosori Air fryer which I love but in the beginning I didn’t know what accessories to buy that would help a novice cook in one…you helped me quite a few times with your videos…one additional thing I did buy that has been invaluable is a Emolife Resistant mat which measures 15 x 23…I use it under my air fryer and it extends enough to be able to place the basket on it when the basket is cold in order to fill it or when it’s hot to turn food over, etc…it covers the whole top of my wooden cart so no worries of burning countertops👌
I'll be joining the chorus for parchment paper. I use the ones recommended by America's Test Kitchen and they're great. They do help with clean up a lot so I disagree with that advice but all the rest is good, especially the thermometer! So important.
I use parchment paper sometimes. Mostly with doughy foods. My only complaint with them is that they tend to blow around in the air fryer especially if you're cooking a single item or smaller items that don't cover the entirety of the paper. In those cases, you might need to cut the pepper to a smaller size.
My sister bought me a air fryer a week ago, and i bought 2 air fryer cook books. but you made the comment on not buying from Amazon , i bought a couple of items over the weekend. 2 silicones to make casseroles dishes and 2 racks. they work just fine. ❤
getting used to an air fry takes time and a bit of exprementing as all air fryers are different it can do more, much more, i even did some bakeing and air drying in mine and the results were nothing short of amazing, better than my oven and better than my top of the range convection cooker. if all you want to go for is just air frying just buy a basic model but if you want to do more go for a ninja or or a cosori. the advice here is golden but i would recomend getting a toaster rack as it does the best toast i have even tasted. and the fact that it uses half the energy is a plus in my book.
Terri here. Avid Dawn user! If you’re not using the new forms of Dawn, you need to. I have all 3 under my sink, and refills in the garage. And there are about a thousand ways to use it…look it up. Become a Dawner!!! I have no connection to the company…I simply LOVE the product!
Really well done video. Not just the accessories to buy but those you shouldn't buy, first time seeing that. Short, to the point and useful. 10/10 video.
I really don't understand all the people trying to find ways to avoid cleaning the drawer, or people who leave it to get so filthy it needs a special power spray to clean it. You just need to give it a quick swish around with hot water and dish soap after use, no effort necessary, and it stays clean.
you are the best Lisa thank you for helping us not waste money on air fryer accessories!! i get overwhelmed when shopping thanks to too many choices, so videos like this are SO helpful!
Fantastic recommendations. Thank you. I'm getting the thermometer. I noticed in my air fryer the grease buildup on the inside of the air fryer. I am now going to try that Dawn Power Wash. Have fun cooking. Cheers.
I love my thermo works stuff, from the dots to the infrared temp guns. Calibration of probes is important and they send you the calibration info. Maybe its overkill for home use but temps are important . They just make great stuff!
I remember when microwaves became popular and affordable . Everywhere you shopped had microwave dishes, cookware, and accessories. People were so confused as to what containers they could use. When they first came out it was advertised as a wonder machine that could cook anything in minutes. The microwaves were so big and cost nearly $1000 when they first came out.
My parents' 1st microwave died just a few years ago. It took 2 people to move it out of the kitchen, and I replaced it with one I could lift with one hand. I'm sure it cost my parents hundreds at the time.
We bought our first microwave in 1978 - paid big bucks (can’t remember how much) but plastic bowls, etc. we’re the thing then - hated them! That first one never died and we may still have it in storage somewhere😄 but the turntable became so popular and the early models didn’t have that so we bought a new unit. Never had a single microwave die - until this fall. The one that the builders put in Fl ally crapped out (house bought in 1999) - AND the electric stove also died last summer - same age. They just dint make anything that lasts more than 5-10 years anymore. Fingers crossed on the refrigerator!!!!!
Great presentation. I recently bought parchment liners, no holes. It resulted in a steak sitting in grease and water it was frozen and hardly done. It was a mess had to discard and let cook as it was meant. Probably wouldn't get the ones with holes. Keep up the good work.
I've been using two air fryer paper liners for my fries, fish, and frozen chicken foods; just in case my food is oily, and provide the basket with maximum protection.
I do like the parchment liners. When I am just heating 4 or five chicken nuggets, I just take the paper out when I am through and I don't have to wash it all the time.
The parchment liners are great for UNDER the basket I keep one in all the time and they never turn black meaning they don't get hot enough to burn. They save the rest the drawer under the basket without blocking the air flow.
I occasionally use the parchment paper for really starchy things but be careful if you do. I made the mistake of accidentally leaving it in my air fryer one time. I don’t know how I did that but I did. I had put something in the air fryer to warm it up and was sitting in the living room and heard a weird sound coming from the kitchen. I went into the kitchen and there was something burning. The parchment paper had blown up to the top and it caught on fire. I caught it early enough to where I didn’t start an actual fire, but that was scary.
Lisa, it looks like your food cooking temperature chart is magnetic? Is it? Even so do you have a link to buy one? I would find that handy. Thank you for the review on the instant read thermometers. I will definitely take your advice and get a Thermopop.
I used the Dawn Power wash and, although it works, I wouldn't recommend it. The Teflon coating absorbs the very strong scent that will not rinse away and I could actually smell it while it was cooking. It also has alcohol as a primary ingredient and I believe it will breakdown the non-stick coatings eventually. The regular Dawn liquid works best anyway.
Thanks first off for the big shout out to the Dawn Power Wash. I’ve been wondering if it really was as good as the commercials say - and wow! It’s going on my list next time I hit the grocery!!!!!
You can make your own refills. Use water, blue dawn dish soap and a small slash of rubbing alcohol. Keep adding dawn until you have the strength you need.
Three things I need-thermometer, silicon tongs and parchment paper for cleanup. I use aluminum foil for my pots in the oven except when I bake. I’ve been doing that for years -aluminum foil is fairly cheap and it recycles.
Another thing about those paper liners...they catch on fire!!! I put one in and turned on my air fryer to preheat. I started smelling something burning and opened the air fryer. The paper was burning! With nothing on the paper to hold it down, the air blew it up around and it touched something that was too hot. And another time I did have a very small burger patty on the paper, and the air blew it enough that the edge of the paper went up too high and caught fire. Very scary! They should warn of this possibility.
You preheat "without" the liner in place. Once your ready to cook....then put the liner in place and put food on top. Air fryers have a powerful fan to circulate the hot air......that will also "circulate" any light objects in the frier.
I love your channel! I’ll be getting all the things, lol! I think the silicone in-fryer trivets are meant to protect against the Teflon coating. If they don’t interfere with cooking, they might be worth checking out.
I decided against getting an air fryer because of the Teflon. Those silicone mats would make me more willing. I would still like an option to buy a copper ceramic basket instead. Until that's an option, I likely won't jump on the band wagon.
My most used accessory for my air fryer is a metal teflon-coated cake pan which works with my airfryer (20 cm, 7,87 inch). Easy to clean (you only need butter and flour before baking, after a wet paper kitchen towel to clean the pan). My airfryer (looks the same as yours) has 1700 Watt and 20/21cm 7,8/8,2inch inside the baket. I use it for baking bread and cakes. Most of the time I use 160°C/320°F for baking bread, cakes, vegetables/potatoes or meat/chicken. For every cm/0,4inch round about 10 minutes baking time (meat/chicken maybe more time). German cheesecake, french tarte, litte pizzas/flammekuche (french pizza). French tarte (also used for german cheesecake is easy to do. You only need 200-300 gramm flour (for the tarte you use less than for the cheesecake), If you want: sugar (up to 80gramms), 150-200gramms butter, 1-3 egg yolks (the egg white you need later). Knead all (without the eggs white) together, let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes, roll out the dough, put it in your cake pan. Fill in what you want (sweet or savory). Bake cheesecake 15 minutes then core the cake 1cm from the edge all the way around, then bake it again for 60 minutes. Tarte (sweet, with fruits): bake it for 30-40 minutes. While it bakes you whisk the egg white until fluffy (with a pinch of salt and 50-150gramms sugar). Then put the fluffy egg whites on the cake and bake it again for 10-15 minutes (until the fluffy becomes golden). Savory tarte: Leek, onion, bacon: bake it for 15-20 minutes. In this time you mix the eggs white with some salt, pepper, nutmeg spice. Put it on your cake and bake it again for 15-20 minutes (use this time for prepare a salad). I'm sorry, I'm german. Watch youtube for german cheesecake. You only need lowfat quark, sugar, eggs, food starch for the fill in. 160°C/75 minutes. Your family will love you. Good for you: easy to prepare, cheap, healthy. French families bake a tarte/cake every day before start cooking the normal meal. So the cake can bake while the family having lunch/dinner. The cake will be eaten at the end of the meal (while drinking a cup of coffea). You can also bake little cakes like brownies. It's always the same dough and topping, so you can take it to school, work, picknick...
Hi Lisa, I tend to agree with you about not needing the silicone trivets inside the air fryer since you have to clean the tray and the basket anyway. But what do you think about the silicone baskets like the WAVELU Air Fryer Silicone Pot Liner? Oil flows into the grooves, away from food and the bottom basket. It also extends the life of the tray and basket since they have a non-stick coating whose effectiveness decreases significantly over time with frequent washing. Please let everyone know what you think.
Great video - as always. I have subscribed. How do you recommend cleaning the interior of the air fryer - especially the top of the interior? Sometimes foods spatter grease when cooking...
When remove the basket from the air fryer, some come with an inner basket that can be removed. I bought parchment/greaseproof paper liners that I put under this part of the basket to catch fat etc when cooking such as bacon or sausages. I find they reduce the amount of cleaning needed.
This was such an informative video. You just saved me some money I would have spent buying unnecessary accessories for my new air fryer. Thanks So Much!
I have just bought a rotisserie air fryer. It has mesh shelves and cooking some things like the fishcakes I did yesterday or chicken legs they get sort of stuck through the mesh. I've ordered some of the silicone liners and I think for some things they will be useful. I totally get it if you're using the type of oven in this video, but for my type I think they'll be OK.
I used an air fryer just like that for about a year. the best way that I found to do it was to split the time in two and flip the food. it's inconvenient, but it helped. Still ended up with bits, but it helped. hopefully the liners work well for you.
Unless you use oil in copious amounts, I wouldn't store it in clear glass containers. There's a reason the stores sell them in brown/dark glass. It keeps the olive oil fresher for longer as it can react to light and/or heat. But those spritzers are super classy! Wish they came in dark style.
Good info, but disagree re parchment paper use ! Also, the Olive Oil and Vibegar Source you provided appears to sell products from the same importer we have used for years… delicious products!! Happy to see a W Coadt source w reasonable to free shipping!! TY 😀
- if you can see the metal through the non-stick coating, then you likely need to stop scrubbing so hard, or stop using the wrong scrubber. Just soak and wipe off..for stubborn stuff, _lightly_ use a non-stick-safe pan scrubber. Also, if you can see the metal, then you definitely need to stop your food coming into contact with _any_ flaking and/or damaged non-stick coating - clean all of the air-fryer...not just the outside and the pan. Keeping it clean keeps the taste of your food cleaner, and helps slow down the spread of fire in the event of an accident - don't spray oil onto the food while in the pan - you don't want it on the walls of non-stick-coated baskets. It will overheat and eventually damage the non-stick coating. Instead, spray the food, and toss, prior to loading into the pan - probably best to use non-virgin olive oil to spray the food - 'standard' (aka: 'cooking') olive oil is cheaper, retains more flavour when cooked, and it's not as thin as virgin oil so it sticks better - if using parchment paper, then the best use [I've found] is to just line the floor of the pan with it - they can actually save a lot of hassle (if the paper is big enough to allow any drippings to pool); just let the air-fryer cool down after use, and then you lift the paper out and dispose. Wherever you like to put the paper, just make sure the paper is cut to size (and perforated if needed) so air can circulate - for very little money, you can buy ovenproof 'liners' made out of a net of fibreglass coated with silicone or a teflon-type non-stick coating. These can be cut to shape/size, and are perfect for going between your food and the grate, stopping smaller and/or thinner foodstuffs falling through the grate to the bottom of the pan
Thanks, for all the great info! I use paper towels to wipe the grease out first and then Dawn dishwasher liquid in my air fryer. I think the spray actually took off the coating in the removable basket piece!!! Frustrating! I will have to order a new one or I might just order the better model, Ninja XL grilled instead! Also, most people don’t think about cleaning the inside of the air fryer under the top plate. It gets very dirty and really need to be cleaned!
I, like practically everyone else, have an air fryer. It is, unlike others, a dual zone air fryer. Meaning I can cook two different items at two different temperatures at the same time. The problem is that I'm also a huge baker of bread. Bread dough, pizza dough (they are different, sue me), any dough that needs to rise... I can't get to rise properly over the last couple years, because there's no way it's going to rise at 69°, in the middle of January. This led me to have to buy another "air fryer", which is actually just a convection oven that goes as low as 85° (a.k.a. proofing oven). This is the one thing that I needed, that an air fryer can't do. The bonus is that I'll have extra space (the dual zone buckets are half the size) to air fry more food. I will, however, look into those spritzers.
If you start using Dawn Powerwash, I highly recommend you purchase in bulk. (Sam’s club for example sells them in sets of 4) Why? Because you will NEVER want to be without it, and you will get so spoiled using it. The only scent I did not like was lemon. It was a little bitter smelling imo.
I saw another video criticizing parchment because it can get brittle and crumble when you empty the basket. Depends on what and how something was cooked. Are there and concerns about oven safe dishes like that casserole dish damaging the non stick? Maybe the internal silicon trivet would be good protein.
I have had the Instant Pot Air Fryer for a few years and the coating is peeling off the grate. I tried one from Amazon and it was garbage. I am now worried about toxicity since that's all anyone is talking about these days. You are right. Parchment paper holds the oil so food doesn't get crispy.
I've never understood the need for parchment paper OR Dawn Power Wash. Standard aluminum foil works even better than parchment paper and is more likely to be on hand----plus it keeps the air fryer interior clean and rarely in need of any cleaning at all, and certainly not in need of a deep cleaning!
@@TigreCorazon That's one of those internet rumors that doesn't hold up according to the research. While it is true that some aluminum gets into food when cooked in aluminum foil or with aluminum cookware, and that this is enhanced in acidic foods, it is not true this causes any health effects in healthy adults. Your body absorbs less than 1% of the background aluminum in food or drinking water. Ninety-five percent of this is cleared by the kidneys. Most of the environmental aluminum you are exposed to passes out of your system within 24 hours. The average adult eats roughly 7-9 milligrams of aluminum per day. This amount can vary based on local environmental conditions or diet or cookware. Neither the FDA nor the European Food Safety Authority have found that this exposure is high enough to cause problems in healthy adults.
Two comments: 1. I disagree on the parchment inserts. They are especially good for anything with cheese in it as melted cheese is really hard to clean. 2. I would add a small wire rack to handy accessories. We have a small round one we use to keep light foods from getting sucked up into the heating coils. For example, one of our favorites is to make quesadillas out of left overs and if the tortilla is not weighted down it will float up into the coil and burn.
I agree that you need a meat thermometer. But one that costs $99 is way to much. There are plenty of cheap that work just fine. Check out the grilling dept. at Walmart. Those are cheaper than the ones in the home section and work just fine. I paid $10 for mine.

That made me want to watch it. Thank you for leaving the review.😅
Thank you. I’m just beginning my airfryer journey. Yes I’m late to the party because sometimes new appliances are fads and I didn’t think I needed another appliance. 😂
Ditto babe 😂

I've been gifted one. So I guess I need to kearn about it to put it to good use. This was a helpful video, and to the point.
I love parchment paper liners. Also, I bought one of those accessory kits from Amazon with little racks, and LOVE them

lol great minds. You're 100% right.
I completely agree 100%!
i was thinking the SAME THING those pre cut ones changed my AIr fryer life, its SO SIGNIFICANT
Parchment is standard issue.
Also collects all the grease in it no big cleaning work in the basket

my friend puts a piece of stale bread at the bottom of her airfyer. it's brilliant b/c it absorbs the oil and makes clean up much easier.
Then break up the bread soaked in oil and put it out for the birds in winter. They love it.
I use bread to avoid smoke from frying

I've got the silicon liner so that when I use a pot or foil tray in the airfryer, the silicon liner can protect the non-stick basket from scratches

$99 for a thermometer.........
Dawn power wash is the bomb, in general- love that stuff!
I have the Cosori Dual and the parchment liners are a must, imo
Not true. Power Wash has alcohol added too.
Alcohol, no water.
I find the Dawn works so much better!
I fill the the bottle 1/2 inch full with Dawn, add about 1 teaspoon alcohol, and the rest water. Works perfectly.
Ty....I am new to air fryers...I have bought a couple pans because the ones I have don't fit in my fryer... Like small bread loaf pans.... I'm really enjoying experimenting with my fryer
Wife got some of those pre cut parchments, when I opened it up there was a nice little fire going! 🔥
You might want to use parchment paper if you're going to place an oven dish inside just to protect the basket coating.
Amazon
Great tip tks!!
Or just fold it... that's what I do if I'm making hubby a chicken patty or a hashbrown patty.
When you pulled out the basket, look inside the air fryer itself. Looks pretty greasy inside, try some dawn in there.
My sister bought me a air fryer a week ago, and i bought 2 air fryer cook books. but you made the comment on not buying from Amazon , i bought a couple of items over the weekend. 2 silicones to make casseroles dishes and 2 racks. they work just fine. ❤
I used to work for Thermoworks and I absolutely agree! The thermometer and trivets are my absolute favorite! I miss my discount lol
getting used to an air fry takes time and a bit of exprementing as all air fryers are different
it can do more, much more, i even did some bakeing and air drying in mine and the results were nothing short of amazing, better than my oven and better than my top of the range convection cooker.
if all you want to go for is just air frying just buy a basic model but if you want to do more go for a ninja or or a cosori.
the advice here is golden but i would recomend getting a toaster rack as it does the best toast i have even tasted.
and the fact that it uses half the energy is a plus in my book.
I just got an air fryer and your videos have been very helpful.
I 100% agree with EVERYTHING you said. That includes the things you DO need & the things you don't! GREAT JOB!!
you are the best Lisa thank you for helping us not waste money on air fryer accessories!! i get overwhelmed when shopping thanks to too many choices, so videos like this are SO helpful!
I remember when DVD players became popular and affordable. They could play DVD's.
My Sharp Microwave lasted 30+years!
The Litton radar range....from the 70's!
I love my parchment paper!
Great presentation. I recently bought parchment liners, no holes. It resulted in a steak sitting in grease and water it was frozen and hardly done. It was a mess had to discard and let cook as it was meant. Probably wouldn't get the ones with holes. Keep up the good work.
Fold the liners and use a paper punch to make holes in your liners.
Parchment paper in the air fryer works great!
Ice cube tongs are perfect for air fryers, especially the smaller ones!
Dawn Power Wash is very good for getting grease stains out of clothes in the wash.
I'm brand new to air frying. I'm waiting to receive mine tomorrow as I write this. Is cleaning the inside of the AF required?
Yikes! Thanks for the tip.
Hey Mickey, you can use silicone pots to avoid these types of issues!
Totally agree on the Dawn Power wash. I use it to clean anything in my kitchen.
Make sure you add a lot of hot water to your tray when you use the power wash. I let it soak and never smell it when cooking.
I just clean mine after every use with hot soapy water soak and rinse it out. No need for special cleaners.
Love these ideas! I think I’ll get everyone a thermopop thermometer as stocking stuffers!
I stocked up on them when they went on sale. They're great for Hostess gifts, or anytime you need a quick gift (they're great quality)..
Three things I need-thermometer, silicon tongs and parchment paper for cleanup. I use aluminum foil for my pots in the oven except when I bake. I’ve been doing that for years -aluminum foil is fairly cheap and it recycles.
Just ordered the oil misters! And the pop thermometer👍🏻
I bought a pack of 100 parchments for the air fryer & they're awful. I also experienced the same thing as you did & paper almost caught on fire.
You preheat "without" the liner in place. Once your ready to cook....then put the liner in place and put food on top. Air fryers have a powerful fan to circulate the hot air......that will also "circulate" any light objects in the frier.
@hokep61 thank you.
Thanks for the great tips. You saved me from buying those pans I don't need👍🏾😎
Silicone tray liners are the bomb, they catch all the mess so much less cleaning of machine.
Thank you for the recipe!!! ❤❤❤
I also thank you!
Just purchased the IPot Versa 2 drawer air fryer. Loving it 😊
Hi Lisa, I tend to agree with you about not needing the silicone trivets inside the air fryer since you have to clean the tray and the basket anyway.
Very helpful, many thanks. The only thing about silicone baskets is that they look a lot easier to clean than say an oven tray. 😊
Can the silicone liners be used in a regular oven also? That wld really make them worth the overall buy. 😉🙂
Great video - as always. I have subscribed. How do you recommend cleaning the interior of the air fryer - especially the top of the interior? Sometimes foods spatter grease when cooking...
From the look of the air fryer in the video, she doesn't bother🤣
When remove the basket from the air fryer, some come with an inner basket that can be removed. I bought parchment/greaseproof paper liners that I put under this part of the basket to catch fat etc when cooking such as bacon or sausages. I find they reduce the amount of cleaning needed.
This was such an informative video.
You just saved me some money I would have spent buying unnecessary accessories for my new air fryer.
Thanks So Much!
I use the powerwash on my air fryer, gas grill, pots and pans, you name it. It really breaks up the stuck on grease and crud.
They do, it's called a Misto
Good info, but disagree re parchment paper use ! Also, the Olive Oil and Vibegar Source you provided appears to sell products from the same importer we have used for years… delicious products!! Happy to see a W Coadt source w reasonable to free shipping!! TY 😀
What air fryer is she using? I like it.
A Thermometer is just a needed kitchen tool period. Besides meat, I use mine for baked potatoes a lot!
- if you can see the metal through the non-stick coating, then you likely need to stop scrubbing so hard, or stop using the wrong scrubber. Just soak and wipe off..for stubborn stuff, _lightly_ use a non-stick-safe pan scrubber. Also, if you can see the metal, then you definitely need to stop your food coming into contact with _any_ flaking and/or damaged non-stick coating
- clean all of the air-fryer...not just the outside and the pan. Keeping it clean keeps the taste of your food cleaner, and helps slow down the spread of fire in the event of an accident
- don't spray oil onto the food while in the pan - you don't want it on the walls of non-stick-coated baskets. It will overheat and eventually damage the non-stick coating. Instead, spray the food, and toss, prior to loading into the pan
- probably best to use non-virgin olive oil to spray the food - 'standard' (aka: 'cooking') olive oil is cheaper, retains more flavour when cooked, and it's not as thin as virgin oil so it sticks better
- if using parchment paper, then the best use [I've found] is to just line the floor of the pan with it - they can actually save a lot of hassle (if the paper is big enough to allow any drippings to pool); just let the air-fryer cool down after use, and then you lift the paper out and dispose. Wherever you like to put the paper, just make sure the paper is cut to size (and perforated if needed) so air can circulate
- for very little money, you can buy ovenproof 'liners' made out of a net of fibreglass coated with silicone or a teflon-type non-stick coating. These can be cut to shape/size, and are perfect for going between your food and the grate, stopping smaller and/or thinner foodstuffs falling through the grate to the bottom of the pan
Dawn Power Wash is a great laundry pretreater!
The tray in the air fryer can be removed for washing and to get crumbs out from between the tray and bottom of unit.
Just bought one and what’s best for baking ? Silicone trays or metal
Thank you. Im discovering that just about anything can be air fried!
U can use cheap garden spray bottles to do same job better for oil
Thank you very much for your videos. I purchased the Instant Pot book. Do you have something similar for the air fryer?
What about taflon coating
Very useful vid. Thank you. New to air fryers and I learned a lot!
I have several thing's you showed but there's a few things I still need to get. Thank you for sharing 😀
@Luca Angelo I'm doing fine, snuggled up with my husband watching tv
A really smart girl's smart presentation indeed!~Congratulations and a million salutes! Dr Sada,India.
I wish I came across this earlier. Thank you for the information!👍
I might be wrong but I heard that cooking with aluminum has recently been linked to Alzheimers so parchment paper might be better if that’s the case
@@TigreCorazonCorrect!
If u use foil it's a high contents of metal aluminium which heated high degrees can cause health issues
Two comments:
