One thing is I ALWAYS cut my Brussel sprouts in half, even the small ones. They may end up a bit crispier than the others, but I’m wanting to avoid the insides steaming themselves. Steamed whole Brussel sprouts is typically the flavor people hate and simply cutting them in half and roasting / air frying makes them one of the best veggies

And thanks for the inspiration.

I’m a disabled senior. Hard to stand for long periods. I love mini meat loaf with potatoes, cooked all at once. Or filet with potato slices. Or fries. Grilled sandwiches. Hamburger. Pierogies. I set them up then sit until shake time. I have the very first one made. I just ordered the dual blaze Cosori to upgrade. Can hardly wait.
When my sister and I bought this small home a year ago I suggested we replace the large toaster with a toaster oven. We rarely use the oven and it is expensive to heat up for just the 2 of us. She was excited and bought an Emeril one. It is huge and does everything. Later I saw your videos. Please note I am not a chef but love cooking for friends and family. I will use the Emmeril machine sometimes to keep her happy. But I later saw your videos and you simplified it! I bought the Cosori. And with your videos you took the mystic out of it. In fact I learned so much more. I grew up with a gas stove complete with a pilot light. Here they have no gas hookups? I was told it isn’t allowed. Anyway. I bought the the one you use and it is so simple to use! Thank you for changing my mind.

YES on the salmon. SO easy, great flavor without stinking the place up! I put it on a small piece of parchment paper to cut down on clean up. Love the Cosori all thanks to you. Keep those recipes coming.
great idea, I was thinking of a way to pull it out in once piece with those super high side walls. There has to be a way to pull the tray out, but parchment sounds easy. Does the salmon need the airflow underneath for any reason? In other recipes I avoid putting anything over the bottom tray just to maintain the airflow.
@@Retrocomputernerd You are right, you need that airflow in the air frying. Putting a paper or alufoil changes the air fryer into a small convection oven.
With the Brussels Sprouts I have found using frozen sprouts is a great time saver just open the bag toss with olive oil and salt then 8-12 minutes depending on how big the sprouts are no need to thaw and the outer layers are perfectly crispy
Sounds great, what temperature/s are you using for the frozen Brussels Sprouts? Are you doing say 180c for 8mins and 200c for the last 4mins or just one temp?
@@e2linuxos I do it at the default for my fryer which is 390F/200C for the entire time but I start watching them at 8 minutes to keep them from being charred
Just made this salmon for my wife. Thank you!! She said it was the best she has ever had. I didn’t have time to let it sit over night but it was in the fridge for 4 hours and seemed to work.
being able to reheat pizza in a air fryer is a game changer, some of my favorites are melt sandwiches, potatoes for breakfast. i wish i had an air fryer in highschool being able to come home and make some pizza rolls or chicken nuggets after school wouldve been so nice
My flat came with an air fryer. I had no idea what to use it for, so I mostly just ignored it. My flatmate always reheats his pizza in the oven, and it works well enough (though he overcooks it IMO), but it takes *a lot* of time. So one weekend, hungry, hungover, and with only half a pizza to my name until my paycheck arrived on Monday, I tried the air fryer. Imagine my surprise when the 2 slices of pizza I put in came out *perfectly done* after, like, 3 minutes. I even added some extra cheese on top (because there is no such thing as "enough cheese"), and it melted *perfectly*. Took little to no time, no preheating, NOTHING. Put in, set the timer to 3, take out, eat amazing pizza. I fell in love instantly.
This is a fantastic video. Your passion for food transfers easily through the screen. Since I've just bought an airfryer, this helps me out a lot. Testing costs a lot of time and food! Although that salmon looks a little overcooked, I would still like to thank you for the outstanding work. That machine is a kitchen game changer and I'm looking forward to experimenting more with it.
For best results with any air fryer you should always preheat it. The other important thing is to never spray cold oil into a hot air fryer. The cold oil tends to weld itself into the no stick surface. To avoid enameling oil onto your no stick surface spray the oil onto your food instead just before you toss it into the hot basket. enameled oil makes your air fryer smoke and more likely to burn or leave an unwanted taste on your food. Air fryers work best when surfaces are immaculately clean and preheated.
I’m so happy I found your channel. I’m binge watching your vids today. Since I live alone I had to learn how to cook differently. After I bought my Cosori air fryer I use it twice a day. I living a keto lifestyle and have had so much success. I believe much of that has to do with the ease of cooking in the air fryer. I don’t have to heat up the kitchen with the oven and can make each meal fresh one hamburger, piece of chicken, steak or whatever. I just bought my son one for Christmas. Barb from Buffalo ❤️
I eat Keto too and agree 100% I even buy frozen wings and just throw them in there frozen @400 no preheating! The main reason I'm replying to you is i bought my son an air fryer as well and giving to him on Christmas. I know he will look at me weird but I'm sure he will fall in love with it. I also provided him a small book of my recipes that he loves! I'm going to send him the link to this video after Christmas. Except for the falafels, all the other things are a staple in his diet i.e. brussels, salmon, broccoli, wings :)
I use my airfryer to cook almost everything! Cake, bread, roti, pizza, chicken and chips, fish, lamb, okra, tomatoes, eggplant etc. Since I've my airfryer four years ago I barely use my stove top, broiler and the oven! Today I cooked a delicious meal: garlic-butter lamb, fried potatoes and asparagus; so tasty and quick!
We have sprouts with bacon lardons and chestnuts. We usually parboiled the sprouts and then fry everything in a frying pan. So yummy! I'll do it in the air fryer from now on
I bought myself a Ninja fryer a few months back and must say it’s one of the greatest purchases I’ve ever made. Not only can you make masterpieces of ANYTHING but…you can really save on the old electrical bill as there’s no conventional oven you have to heat up for 20 minutes.👌🏿
I love using the air fryer (at least 5 times a week) and annoy people by banging on about how great it is. In addition to the dishes you showed I regularly cook breadcrumbed cauliflower florets, simple layered nachos, longanisa (small sausages from the Philippines), and cubed homestyle potatoes. All quick, super tasty snacks or meal parts.
I made salmon in my air fryer last night for the first time. I was AMAZED at how good it came out! Moist and wonderful! It was one of the best cooked pieces of fish I had ever done!
I make a small breakfast in the air fryer every morning. I saw some techniques for making egg toast and do a simple version with a piece of bread + a mayo wall around the outside, put dots of sriracha on top, then crack and egg in the middle + salt & pepper. Pressing an indent in the bread with a spoon first helps to keep the yolk in the middle. 375ish (never buy one with a dial...) for 9 minutes. Let it sit in the warm air fryer for a few minutes if you don't like your egg to be runny. Simple, spicy and good.
I did something similar when I was a kid. Piece of bread on tinfoil in a baking tray, use a cup to cut a round hole in the bread. Crack an egg in there and put a piece of cheese on top. Bake for a bit then bam. Gonna have to try a new version in the air fryer
You just made my day - this made for a fabulous breakfast I didn’t even know I needed! First egg slid right off my bread but I soldiered on and second attempt was divine.
Oooo love that breakfast idea! Sprinkle some funky cheese on top and I’m in! Analog dials usually outlast digital and only need the one part replaced. The perceived “accuracy” of digital is that it’s like a streetlight (no experience needed), whereas analog you have to know when to interact with the food (cooking). 😝 😉 that said, digital is waaay easier 👍
Hey AF dude. I resisted buying an air fryer for a long time because didn't want another object on the countertop but I finally bought one and love it. Still honing my skills and appreciate your tips. Happy air frying!
I agree with everything you said in this video. These are all the same things I do in my air fryer. I find I like my fries cut a bit smaller than yours they cook faster and when topped remind me of poutine I had as a kid. An alternative for the wings is to just put Kosher salt and squeeze fresh lemon over them a few times while they cook. It gives them a crispy shiny coating and tastes amazing. My favorite new air fryer discovery is egg rolls using the wraps in the produce section of the grocery store. Fill them with your favorites and rub on a bit of veg oil and you won't be able to tell them from deep fried.
My favorite air fryer salmon is scottish salmon it’s got a higher fat content. I mix Mayo sriracha and agave salt and pepper. I rub it all over the salmon and then cook it in the air fryer same way you do…it is amazing.
I never ate Brussel sprouts until my wife got me on to them. Had to be charred with bacon. Your recipe just brings it back to what I want to eat. The vegetable. Thanks mate.
Tonight, I used my air fryer (toaster oven combo) to cook a half-frozen chicken breast and half-frozen pork sausage, no seasonings or oil and the chicken was moist and perfectly cooked and the fat from the sausage blended into the chicken and it was SO GOOD!!! The air fryer is heaven sent!
Mike makes great use of the TikTok quick cut editing style. As a viewer, none of my time is wasted. He gets right to the point and shows you exactly what he is talking about with rapid cuts and wipes and effects. Brilliant editing that must take hours - but so worth it. He is quite correct about the wings and brussel sprouts and salmon. All of them work great in the air fryer.
I recently got my first air fryer and it's great... but I have found some foods come out very dry. I've been adding a couple table spoons of water to the bottom of the basket and it's definitely helped!
I recently got one as well, after resisting getting "another appliance" for years. If you get a dry result, it means the time & temperature were not ideal for that product and the amount of it. Similar to sous vide, it's all about playing with the parameters until you find the sweet spot. Note it down and now you basically can't miss. The only other parameter is the thickness of the product, which you can control by cutting, pounding, or otherwise preparing prior.
Don’t worry. This is the first lesson Everyone must learn when cooking with an Air Fryer. I have an Philips XXL and it’s great, but like every cooking device You have to observe the 3 T’s of cooking, Temp, Thickness, and Time. I believe that putting the product on BLAST with 360-400F is ridiculous since the oil and the moisture in the Product has to become liquid in order to have a crunch and cook. I personally preheat and cook at 165/330-180/360 range. I usually start with 10-14 wings and give both sides a light coating of oil. Because of the low but efficient temp the fats come out of the wings and mixes with the olive oil causing them to get darker and crispier. I have a special procedure in that I mix 1 bowl with just salt and pepper, use a strainer and a bowl filled with cold water that the strainer fits in and I dip the wings in this cold water submerging them until the flour is wet. Then slowly lift them out and put them in the other bowl with the seasoning ingredients of, Corn starch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion power, brown sugar, either Italian salat spices or just rosemary. Coat the pieces spray a little olive oil and set the temp at 165C/329F for 15 minutes. Shake the basket and if flour is still visible spray a little oil. I seldom turn them over. After another 15mins or sooner I check to see that they’re golden brown. The key is the right temp. Everyone seems to think that cooking faster is better so they buy one, but I bought mine because it’s faster than the oven, less to clean up, and I can make a portion big enough to feed My family in a relatively short time. Experiment a bit to find what works better for You. I have found that NOT all meats and things taste better in it too. Hamburgers, wings, ribs, and a small cake are fantastic. But fish or chops taste better from the skillet. Good luck and don’t give up.
Do you have the largest size they make? There are now so many different kinds and sizes of air fryers, there must be something out there that would work. Otherwise, why not use your conventional or convection oven to accomplish the same?
I got my first airfryer maybe about a month to 6 weeks ago mainly because electricity has got so expensive here in the UK and I had noticed that by the biggest consumer in my house was my big conventional oven. Ever since, I have not used my conventional oven once! The meals I have been making have been better than ever and as I live alone its single basket size isn’t really a hinderance. What a revelation! 😮
Derrin111 what airfreight did you get? I am on my own in Pembrokeshire and am seriously considering getting an airfryer and any advice would be great, thankyou
@@bellebramwell1232 I too live in the UK and live alone. I went for the Ninja foodi 7050, a little expensive but it has so many great features. I got it before Xmas and are still learning. To date, amazing bread, brioche, cake, slow cooked soups, steak, chicken, steamed veg all cooked to perfection. Needless to say my freezer is overloaded as I tend to batch cook.
For me, the number one choice is steak and potato wedges! Cooking at 450 makes the steak very similar to a grilled steak and by putting the wedges on their backs you don't need to "shake" or move them around, serve them with Ranch dressing. Super simple and delicious!
Love the way you explain things... my mother, aged 84, got a Ninja as a present for her birthday some month ago, she loves it. Will show your vid to her, cool hints to archieve perfect results, greetings from 🇩🇪
We were doing wings until I realized full size chicken legs are much more juicy and half the price! I cook five chicken legs on one tray in my Pampered Chef air fryer. 25 to 30 minutes on air fry at 400 degrees. YUM! Love your buffalo sauce recipe!
I was shocked to see that he only cooked them for 8 minutes. I tried that and I felt that they were not cooked enough. So I cranked it to 15. Hopefully I won't get sick tomorrow >.
I was given a fryer - large one. Besides the obvious frozen foods ( French fries, fish, egg rolls ) I use mine primarily for chicken ( breast, legs, thighs - wings are ok, I'm in Buff so I'm fussy ).) and I've done whole small chickens and Cornish hens. Also Hot dogs --- we have a skin on restaurant brand here and they come out perfect. I avoid beef and pork -- do not do sausage as to having to much grease. Oh and fresh whole potatoes, jalapenos and onions come out great. Toss a whole onion in and spray lil oil, salt n pepper and cook away - the onion when done just slides out of the skin. Cozens - solid parchment rounds - fryer basket - perforated parchment round - stainless cooling rack the raises the item either 1/4 or 1/2 inch extra ( great for meats - fish, rolls ). I do cook chicken slow - 50 to 70 % heat for 30 min then I flip and repeat, if it requires a crisper finish do max heat for couple min. Thx sorry just hungry and fantasizing as I type.
I just made some cornish pastys in my air fryer. I used flaky pastry and precooked my meat with onions and peas and cubed small potatoes the cooked the for 25 minutes at 180c they are great.
Chili dog, salmon and wings. I can't believe I only just got my air fryer about 3 months ago. I always thought it would be one of those appliances I would never use. I use it everyday! I have a Cosori. I did all my research on it. Everyone loved it and said customer service was one of the best.
I bought an extremely large air fryer with a top opening (no sliding food in and out) with a clear top around the heating/fan element. Also racks I can add to make 2 & even 3 layers of food (that I sometimes rotate) but sometimes we don't want the same thing so I can what makes everyone happy.
Making the wings tomorrow for my family. I’ve been doing frozen wings in the air fryer and applying the second half of the recipe. But today we got fresh wings, cut them up, and they are dry brining in the fridge. So pumped to see how they turn out!
My favourite is doing trout in our air fryer, soo quick and easy for a nice meal. I just do a nice rub and toss it in at 400 for 10 mins, might need 5 more depending on thickness. As it’s cooking I do up some nice asian noodles and i have a full meal within 20 minutes. Can’t beat it!
This is my favorite video you’ve ever made. I loved every single second of this video and never had the impulse to skip. Which is very uncommon for me on any UA-cam video.
Sausages (no more constantly turning them). All the frozen things I used to cook in the oven such as chicken tenders / nuggets, mozzarella bites, sausage rolls, puff pastry triangles, mini quiches etc they are done in 1/2 the time and in my opinion taste better also
Dude! One thing you missed is grilled cheese sandwiches. Butter both sides of the bread, two slices of American cheese or your preferred cheese, air fry at 400 degrees. Then flip at the 5 min mark and let it go for another 5 minutes and perfection. The cheese is perfectly melted and the bread is not flattened out. Delicious. A definite must try. Serve with your favorite chicken noodle soup and you’ll have a new fall favorite. If you want to kick it up a notch add two hot dogs sliced in half and enjoy. Umami.
Yes! Grilled cheese is extra tasty and crispy cooked in the air fryer. I add mayo to one side of the bread and butter on the other and use Texas toast. It's awesome!
Instapot has a air fryer, you can air fry or rotisserie a whole chicken. Isn’t much bigger than the one he shows in the vid. Also, my fav feature is the air fryer basket that rotates so that all sides of the fries/onion rings/cheese fries are evenly cooked and crisped
I made these falafels as my first try in new Ninja Speedi. Worked great - Thank you! I made the falafels a bit bigger (about 2 tbsp) and used moist hands to lightly press together.
1:26 actually the proper way is a 50/50 split of fava beans and chick peas. It’s what gives it that greenish color. In Lebanon, Syrian, and Egypt this is common knowledge.
I started adding honey (in my case a substitute) to my buffalo sauce a while ago. I'm never going back to regular buffalo sauce ever again. Also, thank you for showing how to make falafel. I've been wondering how to make it for a while since I can't deep fry anything.
Putting this comment with the other falafel comments. I was excited to try. Never made falafels before so I was hoping for a little more guidance for ingredients and amounts since other people had problems. Went to his website. No clues there either. I guess you're supposed to eyeball and adjust as needed but I have less faith since I'm a neophyte and other people had issues. Maybe I'll check out others people's recipes for more details. I guess this video is encouragement on how to do it in an air fryer.
My air fryer arrived yesterday but I haven't had time to unpack it and use it. Can't wait to try it out. I'm not much of a meat eater and even less a fish lover. Vegetables, though, are a different matter. I like chicken breasts but nothing with a bone. I realise the bones are heat conductors but they're not for me. I love the falafels and sprouts recipes and all the information I am getting from Mike as well as all the comments. Thank you everyone!
Instead of fries I usually use a mix of parsnip, beetroot, celeriac, carrots, parsley root and potato. Cut to similar size (except the beetroot that needs to be much smaller), toss in olive oil and spices of choice and chuck it in the air fryer.
@@nunyabusiness5075 I have "issues" with rutabaga - my dad loved it and would always try to sneak it into the mashed potatoes when I was a kid.....I wasn't a fan. Anyhoo; childhood traumas aside, I imagine if would work well if tossed in olive oil, salt and chili flakes.
I found this wonderful stuff at Costco that is the seasoning mix for brussels sprouts. And it has the balsamic in it and the garlic and the whole thing. And it is a shake and cook thing on your brussels sprouts in the air fryer and it is fantastic. So I just I'd let you know.
Holy moly!!! I came across your channel a couple of days ago. Your content is so FUN and soooo informative. I am a beginner body builder learning better to cook and I’m so excited! Your recipes are awesome! I made your all purpose sauce yesterday and put it over pork loin with your Brussel sprouts and it was AAAAAMAZING! Thanks bro! 👊👊
Parcook the fries. Shake them up until they start to take on a bit of texture roughing them up. This increases the surface area of the fries and increases the crispiness. Also, toast your sesame seeds before putting them in / on something. That heat extracts the oils and flavor that is inside the sesame seed. As a variation: You can cook those Brussels sprouts in bacon fat and add chopped bacon to roasted sprouts.
I really love your videos. Helps us homecooks to get our cooking on to another level. But what would help us non-americans is a temperature display in celcius. Thank you so much for the work you do!
I own a Pampered Chef Air fryer. I mostly use the rotisserie setting. Pork lion. Dry season all over. Put on the rotisserie and rotisserie until reaches the desired internal temp. Turns out for me every time. Crusty exterior and very juicy interior. Baked to medium and let rest for about 5-10 minutes.
Chicken thighs, shrimp, bacon, wings, fries, baked potato, sweet potato, pork chops and yes, steaks. Any kind of sausage, brats etc. are great, burgers, garlic bread, onion rings and fish of all kinds.
I LOVE french fries but I have grown to really hate deep fried stuff, and air-fryer fries are honestly one of my top 5 favorite foods! I have a fry cutter now so putting together a hot plate of fries happens in 15 minutes, it's amazing. You can't get in your car and go through a fast food window faster than that! Every now and then I'll also make a quick cheese sauce while they cook and man, oh, man, it's heaven. My taste buds, stomach and waistline thank me for it! Also, I almost exclusively buy bacon ends-and-pieces now, one because it's sometimes half the price of strips and every bit as good, and two, it's almost a joke how easy it is to make in the air fryer. Just break up the pieces, throw a handful into the basket, and in 5-8 minutes you have perfect bacon pieces and the clean up is a cinch. I love oven baked bacon, too, but for the price in this economy, the ends-and-pieces are the way to go. For sure, you won't catch me frying bacon in a pan on the stovetop ever again!
How do you make your air fryer fries? We can’t seem to get chips/fries as good as oven baked or frozen chips in the oven either :( They do go super crispy but the taste and texture isn’t there.
@@xLightningbolt I have heard that par-boiling the potatoes in salted water for a few minutes before you air fry them helps. I haven’t tried it, but I have found that par boiling my veg before I roast it in a regular oven makes a big difference. So you might try it.
@@xLightningbolt it's just a matter of getting used to it. Deep frying in oil is super unhealthy, and not just for the oil content. I wish people would realise how much unhealthy food they eat by tossing everything into gallons of oil.... you ccan coat the fries with a little oil for the airfryer, too, but it's not gonna be soaking in it. Much better for your cardiovascular health, your GUT flora... not to mention the calories. It's tasty. I will never go back to frying potato (or anything, really), in oil ever again. i buy frozen sweet potato fries and they turn out amazing in the air fryer every time.
asparagus in the airfryer is my fav! I toss it in a little EVOO and seasoning. Everglades or Kevin's are my go to's. Soooo good! Fried apples and cinnamon too!
Honestly sausages are strictly air fryer for me now. They come out perfect and evenly cooked everytime, and it's so much faster then trying to pan fry them in the winter.
We use a Air fryer daily in our house. We cook all green veggies in the air fryer. A. I feel that it is quick and easy. B. I don’t have to turn oven on and wait for it to preheat and heat the house up when it’s summertime. I’m so glad that I started using the air fryer I preach to people that they need to try it they won’t be disappointed.😊 👍🏽
I always collect the bacon fat whenever I make bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers or bacon wrapped pickles (I put mustard inside the bacon and call it Redneck Rouladen, if I have it ill put a pinch of homemade saurkraut on top too ;) I use it as much as I can, but especially when preheating the cast iron skillet for cornbread. The crust it creates is amazing!
Got our Cosori a week ago so been searching utube for recipe ideas. This one video has me subscribed to your channel. First meal we cooked was a chicken and the juices were perfect for the roast potatoes and parsnips a bit like your chips and bacon fat. Your sauces look delicious simple to make as well. Best Air Fryer channel I've looked at so far, thanks from Dave and Ginny over here in the currently chaotic UK 😄.
I love tomatoes, and in the winter time when vine ripe tomatoes are not available I buy the small cherry or grape sized tomatoes at the grocery store. I spritz them with oil and sprinkle them with salt and air fry them for about 5 to 10 minutes on high heat. Obviously, I put them in a little dish so that the juices don’t get all over the air fryer. They are excellent with any sort of rice dish and you can also use them to make a really good quick pasta sauce.
To make the brussel sprouts even more crispy, boil them for about 5 minutes and then dry them off completely (I used a salad spinner) before putting them in air fryer.
Man, you really inspired me to get an airfryer and my first dish ever var a piece of salmon with some pasta and a roesauce. All in all it took 15 minutes and the was the pasta cooking time. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video- I'll try some of these. One thing I always cook in the air fryer is egg rolls. I stir fry my veggies and add seasoning then place them on a piece of rice paper made from brown rice. The brown rice paper is important because regular rice paper will fall apart. They are SO GOOD.
@@marcilynn2943 not really, just stir fry any veggies you want- I usually use mushrooms, red bell pepper, red cabbage maybe some broccoli and add garlic, ginger, onions etc (whatever sound good to you) until soft and add some coconut amino acids for flavor. I take a scoop of the mix and put it on a slightly soaked brown rice wrapper, roll it up and place it in the air fryer. If you've never made egg rolls or spring rolls you might want to watch a video on how to prep the rice paper and how to roll them. I dip the egg roll in some home made sauce (like a tahini sauce).
First time i have come across this guy and his vlogs. I like the way he explains everything so clearly to understand. Not sure i would like my brussels crispy but i will try this.
I got my air fryer and love it! So far, just frozen soft pretzels, frozen breaded cod, and finally frozen waffle fries, but just getting accustomed to it. Soon will try the salmon!
I don't much care for cheesy french fries but I found a good way to do them with skins on ie Jacket french fries - I cook the potatos scrubbed with skins on 4 mins or until a sharp knife goes through them fairly easily. Let cool. Slice into chips shape (sorry we call them chips in the UK as they've got nothing to do with France!) then I drizzle all with a drop each of oil. Fresh ground salt dusted all over. Fresh ground black pepper or hot paprika and here's the crispy trick - shake on a dusting of coarse semolina flour. 20 mins at 200c in Air Fryer - Chips to die for!
If you let the brussel sprouts soak in water for 15 minutes before seasoning them then it gives you a soft center and a crispy outside which is how I prefer mine
Repent to Jesus Christ “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
An instant pot with air fryer attachment is even better, but you'd better have a place to put that really hot fryer lid you have to do something with to remove the food once it's cooked. You can cook just about anything in an instant pot and the smallest, 3 quart size makes enough for 4 people and uses very little energy at all. Once it comes up to pressure, is uses no more electricity at all. I have a Kill-a-Watt and measure all my appliances to see which ones are watt hogs. You can even use the smallest instant pot in an RV with solar panels if you have a large enough solar/battery system.
@@amywalker7515 There's a definite downside to a small instantpot, and that is almost all recipes on youtube and elsewhere are for the "standard" 6 quart size. I'd rather have an instantpot and a separate air fryer, since the instantpot air fryer lid is usually smaller capacity and more expensive than a normal air fryer.
@@doroparker1702 I used to have a work horse steamer/rice/slow cooker combo that I loved but of course the instant pot also pressure cooks rice and all the grains. Makes me laugh to think how years ago they were telling us to make dual use of the iron to make a soggy grilled cheese‼️😂
Just discovered you and subscribed! I belong to many cooking sites, but just started joining ones re air dryers. My new roommate uses hers for so many things. Everyday! It is so much better than any other way to cook! She has started making Delicious Brussels spouts. I was always "take it or leave it. Now I crave it all the time. I'm going to make a loaf of no knead bread today. So exited! Thanks for your channel, which I dont know how I missed it before!❤😊😁
I have just purchased an air fryer for the first time am waiting for it to be delivered today. I think your video's are great cannot wait to get going. I have bought the COSORI Air Fryer Turboblaze.
Love all of your videos~! I have a picky eater at home and the first thing I tried she didn't like (chicken wings) so I tried drumsticks and now I have to make them all the time! :)
btw dont sweat the sticker on the lemon. All labels from every grocery store in the USA has to use food grade stickers on all fruits and vegetables that have a sticker stuck to the food itself. Literally it is edible and safe to eat so if someone eats a whole apple label and all they wont even notice it. so if you shredded it into the food processor you are totally safe. even the adhesive on the label is food safe and I am pretty sure is just a pectin based adhesive.
Great video. One tip I got is that if you want something crispy spray it with oil before and during the cooking. We have frozen, french fries, and a vegetarian so I think what I’ll do is I’ll spray it that way.
TIP: almost forgot --- i got the round kind, bought the wire racks ( plus all the other crap ) - they elevate the food a bit more. my larger one flips over to adjust height from 1/4 to 1/2 inch so I can adjust. Seriously use parchment rounds --- to suck up some grease, make clean up easier and protect the surface from scratches.
@@WNYXeb777 Using parchment rounds prevents the hot air from reaching the bottom of the food and flowing through the basket, which is the basic principle of the air fryer. Just take the basket out after using, let it cool for a bit, give it a good rinse, dry and you're good to go. Takes a minute.
@@CaptainAlbatross Misunderstand - I have a large n small fryer. The large has a basket/handle that inserts into the "bottom bucket" piece - the small had some other round disk like piece that laid on the bottom of the "fryer" but a "leg" on it semi broke ---- so I got the various do-dad sets of gizmos. I use a solid piece of paper on bottom of both - ( my large one originally started getting ruined the way the ol George Forman grills did ( coating peeled ) - then in the small I have the equivalent of a cooling rack, In the large basket/insert I use a piece that is perforated/holes cut to size and put a " reversible" rack on that, The air flow is not hindered, the paper soaks a lot of the grease ( I cook a lot of fresh chicken ) and helps the non-stick crap from scratching/peeling. Plus it's kinda cheap. Toss the paper - use paper towels to mop up excess grease and then I wash. Hope it helps --- I realize a lot of people don't bother - a lot of people pour grease down the sink/dishwasher too. Plus I hate ruining nonstick finishes - had bone/metal/racks/cleaning all the mentioned peel the coating. What I miss are all my parents toys made out of stainless steel. 1950/1960 versions of George Foreman's/ waffle makers, Rotisseries, and all that stuff that was made to disassemble and clean. Engineered much better then. And it wasn't made to be disposable.
@@WNYXeb777 Ah, that clears it up! I have the one with the smaller basket inside. Was kinda worried about having too much cleanup but so far it's no hassle at all. Thanks!
I may be a late-comer to the trend, but I finally have an air fryer at home. I live alone so it's more economical and cheaper on electricity than a full on oven or stove. I love how my air fryer cooks so fast. I'll try the salmon and chicken wings recipes in the video.
I often buy frozen hamburger patties for convenience. I always used my sandwich press to cook them, because you can cook them relatively quickly because you're cooking both sides at the same time. HOWEVER, there is a bit of mess because you're still getting a mist of grease splattering out of all four sides and onto the counter top. So, a few months ago I decided to toss a couple of frozen burger patties in the air dryer and see how that works out, and I can honestly say I'll never pan fry another burger again. The air fryer is absolutely the way to go. Talk about fast cooking, and totally set it and forget it. Frozen patty, a bit of salt, 400 degrees for 7 minutes, and you're good to go. Of course I still butter and toast the buns, so I haven't quite gotten that part worked out as a set it and forget it sort of thing, but yeah, definitely burgers in the air fryer.
One question from a cooking beginner: How do you effectively keep the first batch of food warm while waiting for the second batch? So for example the Salmon while waiting for the Broccoli?
Have to say I love your video! Not only the content, but the smooth, quick and entertaining presentation. I have the latest Ninja all in one and will definitely try these recipes. Lol, I just picked the Brussels today and taste testing 2 varieties. All the dishes look delicious. I really liked the salmon combo! Good tips, thanks. I am new to air-fryers and have only recently bought one. I have always loathed brussel sprouts. You have encouraged me to try them again, using this method. One tip - look after your nails. They are "up close and personal" in a cooking video like this and if not well-groomed it can be off-putting. Thanks.
I believe that the reason for so many FAILED attempts with the Air Fryers is because of a temp that’s too high. Starting at a high temp doesn’t give the fats in the meat time to escape which is contrary to getting crispness and advantages to drying out the product. As far a wings or ribs a rub or coating is mandatory plus squirt of oil. Try setting it at 320for 5-7 min, shake them up and then 350 for 2 minutes. Also instead of giving them a rub I go a bit further by putting them in seasoned flour and using a spaghetti strainer I dip them into cold water until all are coated. Then dump them into the flour again which now contains the seasonings of corn starch, salt, pepper, paprika, onion salt, garlic salt, chili, and Italian seasoning. After mixing them together place them in fryer with a squirt of oil at 320F for the first half of cooking. After they’ve gotten color shake the basket and repeat for another 7 minutes. Now they should be done in a total of 14-20 min. I like mine crunchy. For ribs after the rub just let them cook at a lower temp until you’re ready for the sauce. Then raise the temp until the desired texture is reached. Folks buy the Air Fryers because they are quick but the benefits are because of less fat, less electricity needed as the oven, and the ability to cook at a higher level as it’s microwave or oven in my opinion. But although great there are some foods that taste better in the skillet BECAUSE of the fatty cooking environment like Dorade, pork chops and steaks. Hamburgers are banging too with my Phillips XXL baby. My approach is less is more. Less heat more juice and flavor. Good luck.
Thanks for all the tips, will try them in time. Little tip from me: if you use your thump to open the air fryer while holding the grip, you don't have to rip it open all the time

My son just bought me a air fryer… Love this video.. will try the Brussels sprouts.. Salmon.. definitely the wings.. Thanks .. will keep following you.. 🥰
Those outside leaves you disposed of are the best bit. Leave then on and they drop off during cooking and become brown and crisp. The chef gets to eat them all before serving the sprouts.
Great video! Have a “simple” question , what is the “function” to choose for all these recipes? You show the time and the temperature. I have a Phillips so it has “roast” “meat “ “frozen” grill, etc, etc.. functions . Thanks !😢
I got an air fryer given to me other day. Mine has a paddle. I did drumsticks other day in shake and bake with paddle ,which stripped drumsticks of coating. 2nd batch took paddle out and flipped halfway through. Best crisp shake and bake ever had
Exactly, and they cool down a bit quicker to eat as well!
great tip!
cook brussels or other veggies after cooking chicken wings, just use rendered fat and mix a bit

Putting a paper or alufoil changes the air fryer into a small convection oven.

being able to reheat pizza in a air fryer is a game changer, some of my favorites are melt sandwiches, potatoes for breakfast. i wish i had an air fryer in highschool being able to come home and make some pizza rolls or chicken nuggets after school wouldve been so nice
Enjoy it now 😊
This is a fantastic video.
Air fryers work best when surfaces are immaculately clean and preheated.
this is great advice. thanks.

This sounds delicious and so easy! I have one with a dial as well lol.. only downside to this amazing contraption
That's ingenious :O

I recently got my first air fryer and it's great... but I have found some foods come out very dry. I've been adding a couple table spoons of water to the bottom of the basket and it's definitely helped!
Cut down the cooking time, I had an adjustment period with mine
I recently got one as well, after resisting getting "another appliance" for years. If you get a dry result, it means the time & temperature were not ideal for that product and the amount of it. Similar to sous vide, it's all about playing with the parameters until you find the sweet spot. Note it down and now you basically can't miss. The only other parameter is the thickness of the product, which you can control by cutting, pounding, or otherwise preparing prior.
Some units have a little tray on the back of the unit for water
My only problem with air fryers is I have a family of 5. I feel like I'd need 2 or 3 air fryers to cook enough falafel or chicken wings for everyone.
I was thinking the same exact thing. I do love the air fryer but I have a big family.
That is the big downside. Even for 2 the large air fryer barely makes enough for dinner.
there are large air fryers (small ovens basically) on the market too
@@Xia-hu yes, but even then half the food is cold before the other half is finished if you space things out like Mike does
Do you have the largest size they make? There are now so many different kinds and sizes of air fryers, there must be something out there that would work. Otherwise, why not use your conventional or convection oven to accomplish the same?

I love the falafels and sprouts recipes and all the information I am getting from Mike as well as all the comments. Thank you everyone!
I use a mustard honey sauce for the brussels sprouts.
Instead of fries I usually use a mix of parsnip, beetroot, celeriac, carrots, parsley root and potato. Cut to similar size (except the beetroot that needs to be much smaller), toss in olive oil and spices of choice and chuck it in the air fryer.
Have you tried rutabaga yet?
@@nunyabusiness5075 I have "issues" with rutabaga - my dad loved it and would always try to sneak it into the mashed potatoes when I was a kid.....I wasn't a fan. Anyhoo; childhood traumas aside, I imagine if would work well if tossed in olive oil, salt and chili flakes.
I bought one of the French door models. This is my second one after upgrading from a basic unit. We love it!
I found this wonderful stuff at Costco that is the seasoning mix for brussels sprouts. And it has the balsamic in it and the garlic and the whole thing. And it is a shake and cook thing on your brussels sprouts in the air fryer and it is fantastic. So I just I'd let you know.
What is the name of it? Do tell...

As always great video! Could you do an overview video on the basics of sauces??? I feel like that's where my cooking game comes screeching to a halt.
PLEASE. THE SAUCES ARE THE TASTE ENHANCERS FOR US!
We can’t seem to get chips/fries as good as oven baked or frozen chips in the oven either :(
They do go super crispy but the taste and texture isn’t there.
@@xLightningbolt I have heard that par-boiling the potatoes in salted water for a few minutes before you air fry them helps. I haven’t tried it, but I have found that par boiling my veg before I roast it in a regular oven makes a big difference. So you might try it.
@@xLightningbolt where do you get the bacon tips ?
@@xLightningbolt sorry I called them tips 🤗
And less messy...
Totally
And you don’t have to stand there constantly turning them. That’s the biggest win for me
How long at what temperature? Thanks
Yup I agree - I am German and love my meat in tube form !
9:16 for brussel sprouts, try using ghee and cinnamon (plus salt and pepper).
How do I like this video more than once? I make these recipes so often! Kids absolutely love them.
Which air fryer did you buy?
A UK version of this channel also has a similar 5 recipes for upping your game! The french onion soup recipe had me making it 3 nights in a row‼️😋
@@SeanMcLeod interesting, would you have a link to that channel please?
@@DaveandGinny972 Absolutely! Should have shared to begin with! ua-cam.com/video/pp-zw4ykOpw/v-deo.html
Many thanks Sean...it's going to be French onion soup for lunch in our house today!
Fabulously Frugal has some great recipes.
Sounds great! Do you have a recipe?
@@janetjacobsen5850 do you only deep fry one egg roll at a time?
@@Photik I can usually fit 3 in our air fryer without them touching
First time i have come across this guy and his vlogs. I like the way he explains everything so clearly to understand. Not sure i would like my brussels crispy but i will try this.
He has been around almost ten years! He gets better all the time! Enjoy, you will learn a ton!by the way, you will love them crispy!
Forgot to say cooking first is in the microwave not in water.
If you let the brussel sprouts soak in water for 15 minutes before seasoning them then it gives you a soft center and a crispy outside which is how I prefer mine
I wanted to ask if, instead of spraying oil on veg, can you just toss veg in water before air-frying? Like steaming in the air-fryer?

Thank you for all of the videos that I have watched, missed and am yet to watch. You're a brilliant youtuber, much love mate.
As a college student living in a dorm room without an oven, this video has literally saved my coo(life)king
Did you check out rice cookers for your dorm room yet?
They are great as well. Lots of ideas and recipes on yt.
Check out his early videos with his brother. I thought the recipes would be great for a dorm or super small kitchen.
Just discovered you and subscribed! I belong to many cooking sites, but just started joining ones re air dryers. My new roommate uses hers for so many things. Everyday!
Do chicken wings taste different from drumsticks?
@@amywalker7515 I don't think so but she does, I think it could be a texture thing.
@@amywalker7515 Wings are white meat, drumsticks are dark meat.
@@MyChihuahua Yep; I like wings better though as they are more skin-to-flesh ratio, which means more succulent and flavoursome. And crunchy!
btw dont sweat the sticker on the lemon.
I use a solid piece of paper on bottom of both - ( my large one originally started getting ruined the way the ol George Forman grills did ( coating peeled ) - then in the small I have the equivalent of a cooling rack, In the large basket/insert I use a piece that is perforated/holes cut to size and put a " reversible" rack on that,
The air flow is not hindered, the paper soaks a lot of the grease ( I cook a lot of fresh chicken ) and helps the non-stick crap from scratching/peeling.
Thanks!
Just air fried my salmon tonight for the first time and it came out amazing!! I will never cook salmon any other way!
You can toast the buns too in it. I do as well as garlic toast too
One question from a cooking beginner: How do you effectively keep the first batch of food warm while waiting for the second batch? So for example the Salmon while waiting for the Broccoli?
I wrap in foil (aluminium foil) and keep it in a hotpot lidded to contain heat. Edit. I have a stainless steel insulated hotpot.
The KEEP WARM option in the oven
Have to say I love your video! Not only the content, but the smooth, quick and entertaining presentation. I have the latest Ninja all in one and will definitely try these recipes. Lol, I just picked the Brussels today and taste testing 2 varieties. All the dishes look delicious. I really liked the salmon combo! I would love to find a cookbook that uses all real ingredients for the Foodi. The baked goods seem to always call for boxed cake mixes-Yuck!
Little tip from me: if you use your thump to open the air fryer while holding the grip, you don't have to rip it open all the time
Your editor is so good. I love the art style.
2:46 A crevasse is a huge opening in something, usually a glacier. The word you were looking for was "crevice" which refers to a small crack in the surface of something.
🤔 I suppose to a tiny thing, like a sesame seed, those would be crevasses! LOL
I make meatballs in my air fryer, tho I may do the overnight in the fridge to help them crisp up better!!
I add minced garlic to my buffalo sauce and a dash of white wine vinegar 👌🏼
A splash of cream also works perfectly with buffalo sauce.
Dude that sweet chili sauce recipe deserves a video of its own 🤯amazing stuff all around 🔥🍻
Great video! Have a “simple” question , what is the “function” to choose for all these recipes? You show the time and the temperature. I have a Phillips so it has “roast” “meat “ “frozen” grill, etc, etc.. functions .
Thanks !😢
Depends on what you’re cooking. Veggies I tend to do on “grill” or the “fries/French fry” setting. Meat is on the “meat” setting.
BTW, I bought a Cosori several years ago and love it! It’s just so easy to use but a really versatile and well-made piece of kitchen gear.
I got an air fryer given to me other day. Mine has a paddle. I did drumsticks other day in shake and bake with paddle ,which stripped drumsticks of coating. 2nd batch took paddle out and flipped halfway through. Best crisp shake and bake ever had
