My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

For me my maintenance calories are “on the house” freebies if you will….. 2k for my heartbeat, breathing, bodily functions etc. any calories after 2k I earn by walking and exercising. At 5 foot 11 185 pounds 44 years old I’m in perfect health fit, toned abs, big arms with muscular legs eating 4 to 5 k calories daily. I wish the folks in these videos struggling would consider earning their calories after maintenance.

I was in TOPS ( take off pounds sensibly) and their one line was “ even tho you overeat in private, your excess poundage is there for the world to see. what a fool you’ve been”. It is hard when a person is addicted to sugar and carbs. That’s why I don’t bake. I start and will eat til its gone.

You don’t want to hear this 👍 ok, cool!, no worries, then I have to decline getting your preferences of foods. 😊

i do feel empathy for these people. They are addicted to food. It's easy to make fun of them, but they have an addiction like many others do, be it alcohol, drugs, or food. It all comes down to psychological problems. A lot of them eat to hide pain. And that is truly sad.

For me I substitute high calorie foods for lower calories because I’m a volume eater and I 🏃🏿‍➡️ Walk it out…..up to 30 to 50k for the higher calorie foods that I crave. I’m building muscle too to burn calories while I’m resting. I went from 300 plus to currently 185 pounds at 5 foot 11 44 years of age and I’ve been doing this for 3 plus years now. I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been great blood work, blood pressure and cholesterol. I love earning my calories 😋🤤🤗

A lot of these people can’t work, food is expensive so the partner has to pay for it all, cook and serve it and do everything else for them, it’s very selfish and taking advantage of who ever is helping them. I get it though, if I could eat all day and not have consequences, I would, although it costs so much to do that. I would not want to be their partner.

I used to eat a whole large pizza at a sitting but was between 212-250 in weight depending on the time of the year.
Can’t eat as much as I have gotten older… also used to work manual labor and hit the gym a lot which had my appetite a lot bigger in my youth.

Anyhow- I've been strictly controlling my calories for so long that the thought of eat even a 900cal meal sounds like almost too much!
