My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss. - Розваги
Any sympathy I could have felt for James vanished when he forced his 16 year old daughter to quit school to take care of him. Until then, I thought I knew the definition of "selfishness" but James pushed that to a whole new and mind boggling level!

I point this out every time someone says a low calorie diet is starvation. No, it's not starvation, as long as you have excess calories stored in your body.

Takeout in the States is so subsidised that it is often cheaper than preparing a good meal with fresh veggies and fruits.

I was waiting for the Dr to send Stephen home, abusing nurses and the breaking the rules. How selfish when people are trying to help him. I think the Dr and staff have amazing patients.

Lisa killed James with food. Dr. Now was legit pissed and tried to get Adult Protective Services involved.
No one forced him to eat it. I think Lisa was just submissive and couldn't stand James yelling at her.

All they need to do is put the pizza on the floor at the end of the hallway. If you can get to it, you can have it. Then when they’re about to pick it up, move it to the other end of the hallway. They lose the weight in no time.

Steven knows exactly what he's doing. There's no excuse for abusing hospital staff. He's taking advantage of everyone else behaving with grace as an excuse to do whatever he wants. He could look like a movie star, but behaviour like that makes anyone ugly.
I have had to deal with morbidly obese people as a nurse. Unfortunately many are like Steven. And it is VERY hard to get kicked out of a hospital. You really have to work at it.
All these people "work really hard." Cracks me up. They've never worked a day in their lives, so no wonder they think they should lose weight sitting on a chair, doing nothing but eating.
I think that every time. It takes LESS work to eat less food. What on earth are they talking about, "I've worked so hard.."?? They've no idea what "work" is.
What really bugs me is they get disability benefits! Being fat and obese isn’t a disability it’s an addiction. I don’t think they should get disability benefits at all.
I'd never let my Dad or family refinance their home for me, especially if I was a huge fat ass and not even trying!!

He probably did a reverse mortgage where he can stay there until he dies. But once the dad dies, the bank takes the house and sells it.

Notice how these folks aren't ordering the grilled chicken when they "have" to eat fast food.
You would think it might bother the spouses to hear their partner say things like "nothing in this world gives me joy" or "the only thing in life is love is food".
I can't even imagine how I'd feel if my partner said something like that..

Some fast food places now do except food stamps it depends on the fast food place and your state and your area, you can even buy hot already cooked food in grocery stores now take food stamps
I don’t know how these morbidly obese people live the lifestyle many can only dream of. Where is the money coming from? I’m on disability and it’s a struggle to get by on that.

When I was in hospital I was afraid to call any nurse for anything because they work hard enough, but this guy right here is angry about how long he has to wait? What a jerk, nurses work hard enough you know? Some can be crook but most work really hard and endure some of the most emotionally draining situations I’ve ever heard about.

literally! when I was in hospital after getting surgery on my stomach and wasn't allowed to get up on my own I even hesitated calling a nurse when I almost pissed myself because I felt like they already have enough on their hands and I could always wait a little longer, meanwhile this guy presses that button like it's his hobby!
@@svgarpawssame, my nurses were soo sweet! I couldn't get out of bed by myself due to my kidneys shutting down and my nurses tried to get to me as quick as possible and helped so much😭🩷 can't imagine being rude to them! Especially when my life is in their hands..
The Steven type of patient is one of the reasons I'm not a nurse any more, even though I loved my job.
I am an ER nurse. Unfortunately many obese patients refuse to be compliant and are verbally abusive to hospital staff.

by the way, diuretic pills are not diet pills. They remove water from the body. So if she has all these swollen legs from fluid buildup, the diuretics would actually dry that up, and she would urinate the waste.
Exactly right. Diuretic ps do not remove fat, just water. All the water will be replaced by drinking any fluids.

Mostly he gives 1,200 calorie diet high protein low carb but I've seen him give 800 to 1,000 calorie diet an NO carb.. some ppl should realize it could be worse..
IKR , i tried no carbs , I couldn’t do it. I went low carb, no refined sugar or food.
The reason these people are hungry all the time is because their stomach is soooo streeeetttchhed out . Give it a week and it will hurt to put the same amount of food in a smaller stomach.
Yeah I saw Rosie or Rosa who had a 1000 calorie diet and I was like wtf lol I'm about 35lbs overweight but 1k calories would be difficult to impossible for me

Tell you this, ive had weight issues in the past but i never let myself get so big that someone else had to empty my waste or clean my behind and my weight gain was through illness so no excuses here, i fought it and nobody needed to tip a potty out for me

Addiction to anything is bad. That being said:
Some junkies, after overdoing it with their enablers, run into intervention getting locked in places - but can manage to escape jumping out of windows etc, gather money, score, and there we go again.
Many morbidly obese people are not physically able to do anything like this, the very few times their enablers get sick and tired of appeasing them. They continue gaining weight, even in hospitals.
I worked out my own explanations but also want to hear yours:

I am sick into death of the whinging about how bad their life is, how they’re in such pain, how they are trapped in their body. _Whose fault is that?_
the most mind boggling thing about these people is that they order junk food while being bedridden and being able to see how awful their body looks. i went from 176 lbs to 160 in a month because i noticed how much my body was changing and i easily knew i needed to lose weight. how these people don't see how bad they're doing will always be a mystery to me.
I can't even imagine my family allowing me to get to this point. Are you kidding? My mom would never have done this enabling. My dad would have kick my butt. Why do these parents keep feeding into this insanity? That isn't love.

It depends upon where you live, too. There's no delivery in my town, so you have to do Doordash or Uber and that can get expensive.
People say you can judge someone’s health by their weight. I know someone is unhealthy when they have lymphoma,cellulitis, sores, tumors, etc that would all go away if they lost weight. Exactly WHAT was on that woman’s butt (the one sent to the hospital with bursting bleeding thing)??
Ah, it was an infection from all the fecal matter chilling on her legs from herself and her dogs. There’s a scene of her eating with roaches crawling on her legs. I can only feel bad because that is a very sick and depressed person.
@JiaPia3 I actually watched one of these shows where a woman had maggots in one of her sores, and it took her being hospitalized by Dr Now for them to even be found and washed out. It was the most gross thing I ever saw.

Super mobid obesity is becoming alarmingly common. It's gone from 3-400lbs which is bad, but. It's very common now to see 5-700lb people. It must cost a small fortune to feed someone that is eating 30,000 calories a day. We sure couldn't afford it.

I love and admire doctor now I'm not sure if he's still alive but he has done so much for people and he doesn't take bulshit because he knows food is an addiction and just like any other addiction if the person is not ready to change there's nothing you can do😢😢😢😢

He was sent to rehab and detoxed there but once he was discharged he started going to every er asking for pain meds. I’m glad they can pull up patients history now. People who are really in pain suffering because of abusers.
