My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

I know that its under the patients control to reject food or eat it, but I believe the TLC producers gave them extra money to buy fast food and snacks for drama purposes

Two questions.
One, how the hell do these people afford all that food and two, how the hell do these people have a significant other?
1. I’m pretty sure TLC gives them extra money 2. Some of the people on here were together with their partners before they got big and some of them found partners they were big which there’s nothing wrong with as long as they help them/want help for them (which is rare on this show but I definitely think most of their partners do truly love them)

It's wild how their bodies can handle all the garbage they eat. I can't eat fast food without feel sick for at least a day.
Same here. I'm in my mid 40s and while I never did eat a whole lot of fast food, I would sometimes just really want a McDonald's cheeseburger or some Krystals or a Supreme pizza from Pizza Hut. My favorite was always Popeyes because I loved those biscuits. But even then, those were "every once in awhile" things. I can't eat McDonald's at all anymore- I start feeling actually sick before I can finish even just a regular cheeseburger- though I do still love the fries there and will steal some from my teenager if they bring some home. Same with all the rest. I can't even eat Arby's anymore and that's probably the least greasy fast food you can get. I'm guessing it's the MSG that makes me feel so sick. If I want pizza now, I either make my own or buy frozen ones. Frozen foods have come a long way since my childhood in the 80s and you can actually get decent frozen pizza now. There are a couple of local food trucks I can still get burgers from when I'm craving one but I've found that any of the traditional "fast food" options just leave me sick. And I stopped eating Taco Bell in my 20s because something about the seasonings they used, if I ate a taco, I could taste it all day. I do miss the fried chicken and biscuits though. You just can't make fried chicken like that at home. Plus, it's an unholy mess to fry chicken.
Her calling and complaining that they forgot something in her order is ridiculous. Sure you paid for it, but it's taco bell. It was probably a $3 item, and you aren't starving. She sounded like such a Karen and treated her partner so rudely for the mistake.
It also pissed me off to see one of them being rude to the drive thru workers because the food took too long. It was probably busy, and besides, she can wait 5 minutes to eat anyway

Leptin is an important hormine damaged by diabetis which tells the body when it's full, It affects all overweight people because it has simply stopped working and they constantly feel hungry, These people need major medical care.
And therapy because they're very obviously addicts.
I spent six weeks with my health nut mum when I broke my ankle. It was absolute hell but I think some of the subjects of 600lb Life should live that time with my mum. They'd lose the weight in no time because my mum just would NOT give them anything like as much junk food as all that.
I did think I ate badly but the portion sizes are what shocks me here. And yeah, the definition of salad in some of these fast food restaurants is awful.
Pauline ended up losing all the weight and looked amazing, she totally changed her whole life and became more independent..good on her!
8:33 I do sometimes feel sorry for these people, but I got a huge laugh when her husband tried to ram her through the door with the cart. Also, she pulled out the lame excuse "I have to eat to live." You don't need to eat junk food to live, lady.
junk food is cheap and easy. these people have legitimate problems. not to mention the cost and effort needed to have good food. its easy to point and laugh, but if its $4 for a cucumber or $4 for a cheeseburger, what one would you choose? your comment just seems ignorant and classist, you know what she meant, you DO need food to survive, you dont need to twist her words.
@@gir2005 Yes, fast food is easy, but it is a myth that it is cheaper than cooking good food at home. I don't know where you live, but cucumbers here are $ 0.79 at regular price, 2 for $1 on sale. I know. I shop for groceries every week. As I have stated on this YT site before, I can make a breakfast of a 2 egg omelet with a big handful of leafy green veggies and cream, a strip of bacon, and 3 cups of Starbucks coffee with stevia and cream for $3.10. Beats anything you can get at McDingles.

I am on day 31 of a 45-day cleanse. No beer or alcohol, bread, crackers, chips, pizza, pasta, fried food, or sweets of any kind. I am eating almost nothing but whole food items instead of the processed junk. I have lost 16 lbs. so far and am now 249 pounds. I have been watching these videos and SMH. I am mad at myself for letting myself reach 265 pounds or more for the third time in my nearly 59 years. Even with two total knee replacements since October of last year, there is no excuse for letting myself to get that big. I am not a small guy and I feel my best at about 200 pounds. It is hard for me to imagine someone getting to 400 pounds let alone 600 plus pounds.
I worked with a woman who probably had a food addiction. She was depressed and steadily gaining weight, but she made a production of eating a tiny salad or an apple at work (afraid of being judged I imagine) but would go straight to takeaway or supermarket to stock up on the way home.
I wish she just overate at work because the hanger was insane. She was a psychopath to work with.

@@gloriasgame Emotional trauma can override being full especially if the individual is using food to cope. I think it should be mandatory for everyone to see a therapist to work out childhood trauma.

Sarah orders her mother around for food with no "please" or "thank you". Her snack is 2 cheeseburgers, chicken sandwich and fries. Even the drive thru isn't fast enough for her to get her fix and she's rude about speed of service. What a miserable woman. Her mom should bring her a salad no matter what she asks for.

I honestly can't fathom how these people can afford all that food, especially now with prices on the steep rise. Some of the candidates in these videos must come close or even exceed a 100 bucks *every day* for food alone. How does that even work? Who's willing to pay those enormous bills?

I find this programme fascinating as a 67 year old pensioner I have had 3 MACDONALDS in my lifetime 1 subway 2 takeaway pizzas never had a Kentucky fried chicken and maybe that's why I only weigh 10 stone
