My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss. - Розваги

@@amyrivers4093 You know... There is a bit of a self-sustaining psychological process happening here. Remember yourself one sunday morning unwilling to cook and going to your local fastfood restaraunt to have that little guilty pleasure of playing lazy and hedonic. Remember your train of thoughts while doing that - your mind is focused on yourself having that little pleasant crime against yourself, not on what people around would think. It's a form of escapism, it's like playing with your toy railroad from your childhood. I beleive that all of dr. Now's patients are just too deep into that wormhole, that that feeling of joy of momentarily irresponsibility is their obsession and their source of reason to live. And living like that all the time you couldn't care less about your pants not covering private parts and your sheets being soaked in pee.
To sum up: these people desperately try to prolong that feeling of being a kid with a happy meal on his table for as long as they can. Physically and psychologically.
These videos help me stay on track. It's so motivating.

It’s unreal how their caretakers just get them the food they want. They don’t show how manipulative these people really are !
They get paid to caretake so it's mutual for a lot of them.
Have you noticed how angry and mean these overeaters get when they dont get food? It's hell for the caretakers, peace or war?

For real. The mental and verbal abuse they can inflict in order to get what they want is debilitating. I am currently going through it and trying to help the person. The anger they exhibit is terrifying
The caretakers aren’t really allowed to act like doctors or nurses and tell them they can’t eat what they want. They’re just there to keep them clean and do whatever else.
Let’s be honest, it’s their own fault for ballooning up, but many of them have family members who are just as guilty. They obviously don’t work, who’s buying their food and with who’s money? Don’t tell me our tax dollars are literally being gobbled up. Could you imagine eating fast food for a whole month and at their levels? It would probably cost $1k!

"I'm starving" that's pretty ridiculous coming from someone who eats enough in a day to feed a 3rd world village for a week.
But they are! With that food they are undernourished. That junk does not contain the nutrients they need, that is one reason they might eat 7000 or 10000 calories a day but those are empty calories, so the body still screams out it is hungry. Second: They are most likely to be emotionally starving: Their lives are empty and they try to fill the void with what little pleasure their food addiction can provide. And they are stuck and help- and hopeless. And the more desparate they are, the more their souls hunger, the more they eat. A deadly spiral downwards.
That's not ridiculous, it's sad.
It's not the same hunger as a normal person gets. The only way I can say it is, 1-it's addiction at the top in home cases. 2-it's what I call head hunger/mouth hunger. As soon as the food is gone the head and or mouth hunger starts... Your body isn't asking for food it's your emotions ect.. I lived it for years and it's hard(I was never as big as these guys but I was a good 250) then it's like narcotics all it takes is a single donut to set the hunger flowing again.

It’s a psychological thing called “last supper syndrome” the logic is that in their heads they’re never gonna be able to eat again and they need to get it all in effectively like a death row inmates last meal in a sense

Because they have to. Food is a basic human right, and cannot be denied. At the end of the day, she's there of her own free will. If she wants to disharge herself and go home, she can. If she wants to order ubereats to her hospital bed, she can.

You're 100% right. But have a little compassion. This is no different than any other addiction. It's a sickness. The only reason most people don't have compassion is because of the way they look. Makes it easy for people to mentally discard them.

We don't live to eat a huge amount of food. We eat just enough amount to live with a purpose
I have panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder and food is the last thing on my mind. My stomach is usually in knots. I wonder what it would be like for food to take care of anxiety as it doesn’t seem normal. I’m not trying to be offensive, I’m just talking about my and other’s experiences with anxiety. I feel bad for a lot of these people.

My favorite part of the show is the long car rides to the doctors office. The constant complaining and nonstop visits to drive thrus. Sad but funny

You know…as someone who has been clean from drugs for almost 2 years now, as a drug addict…you do not get disability…or told its “body positivity” or get to use past or emotions as an excuse…your told get clean or start helping yourself before you are ever able to get help…same should be for them..
So much hatred and lack of compassion for the obese, who are often obese due to physical, mental, or sexual abuse they experienced in childhood. Just like people with substance abuse, they need to learn the 12 steps and learn abstinence about sugar and refined carbs.
I completely agree, I'm in recovery and I made a decision to change my life no excuses I had to change my behaviors to better my life. I talked about the wreckage of my past, my resentments and said sorry to I hurt during my addiction. I was physically addicted to opiates that's not easy to overcome but Noone enabled me to use drugs like these people's partners bc I was "sad". At a point You have to make a decision. These people do have alot of excuses which wldnt fly in n.a. mtings..

So what's a support system? An enabler? Just asking. As I had gastric bypass surgery and lost 200 lbs. Not a poster child, but I now weigh 200 lbs. Food addiction is real.

I’m trying to loose 5 pounds cause I’m 5 pounds overweight, and that’s hard for me. I’ve been 165 pounds for half a year now. I just started counting calories and gave myself a 1,000 calorie diet to shed that 5. But I just started today, I’m hoping within 2-3 months I will lose 5 lbs. I watch this show at the gym to motivate me.

Weight loss is hard, but if you need to lose it you have to work hard at it. Gastric bypass is not always the answer. I lost 100 lbs because I need a transplant. I put my mind to it and did it!!
