My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

Have you noticed that in a lot of these cases, the family members who are "helping" them aren't that much smaller than the obese person they're helping? Many of those people have large weight problems, too.

When people say "obeasity runs in the family", it's mostly because of generationally awful food choices.
Sure, genetics play a role, but eating 10 cheeseburgers, several pizzas, and heaps of sweets and chocolates a day, your choices play the biggets role.

Food stamps doesn’t pay for prepared foods and disability benefits are next to nothing especially if you don’t have a work history. They have to be making money online or someone else is paying for the food. If you don’t have kids you get a lot less food stamps but if you have kids you get more food stamps and if you’re head of household the child will get money until they turn 18. I don’t know how they afford a place to live, bills and astronomical amounts of food. The taxpayers are paying for it somehow.

I'm retired, but am able to get around fairly well, and I couldn't imagine just sitting here all day, stuffing my face and body with food. Especially not with what those people called food back then (the show was all done by Feb. 2012).
White flour, white sugar everything, white pastas, every sauce and dip highly sugared and sweetened...that's not living, and it's certainly not smart. They shopped in places such as dollar stores, deep discount stores (which carry very questionable foods, at best), food banks, and they never had vegetables on their plates, never.
I never once saw any of them eating sardines or mackerel, nor tuna or salmon, all of which are very nutritious, and two or three cans of any one of them would have gone a long way toward satisfying their huge appetites. Certainly would have given them real food that would have helped them feel full sooner and longer. No, they weren't any of them smart, which is why they were, perhaps still are, in that position.

That'll never happen for several reasons:
      1) Feeding people horrible food isn't criminal unless the other party is FORCING them to eat.
      2) The U.S. healthcare and insurance systems are too reliant on patients like these. Think about how much money these industries bring in annually treating conditions like diabetes, various cancers, and high blood pressure or hypertension.
      3) Addicts will always find a way to get their fix, regardless if they have enablers in their lives. So you can brow-beat them, remove all of the horrible food in the house, etc...but if they want it, they'll get it.

It's the actual ingredients in junk food that makes them want more. It's not satisfying them either. And the more you eat the bigger the stomach stretches so they need more food to fill it. Hence why a gastric bypass works. It reduces the stomach to the size of an egg, but it can fail as people eat more and it stretches again.

I honestly feel sorry for their heart you know it's just got to be struggling. Also where do they get the money for all this food?

The First Lady just doesn’t know what to eat, or how. Don’t go to fast food everyday, every meal. She can also fast. I fast two three days out of the week, so she could do at least a day!

It’s sad, most of these people eat from a PLATTER, not a dinner plate 🍽️ ! That is so excessive!
