I had also tried Adapalene Gel 0.1% (Differin) for treatment of my KP for a duration of about 5 weeks; not long enough, in my opinion, to say whether it did or didn’t have any effect (the only thing I experienced in that short time were the side effects of redness & irritation). Being that I was 19 at the time and Differin was available by prescription only, I elected to stop using it for my KP as I didn’t want to apply prescription topical Vitamin A on such large areas of my body on a continual basis. Following a month-long “rest” thereafter (to let my irritated arm skin calm down from the Differin), I began using AmLactin lotion; and it’s what I’ve used ever since. I’m speaking about AmLactin because it is the primary product responsible for eradicating my rough & bumpy texture and, more importantly, maintaining my smooth skin all these years. I highly recommend lactic acid if you struggle at all with roughness and/or excessively dry or cracked skin anywhere on your body. This product effectively exfoliates, brightens & hydrates the skin; and evens tone, too. Lactic acid is gentler compared to glycolic acid; that’s also why I prefer it (less potential for irritation and therefore safer for sensitive/reactive skin).
Absolutely love this product, but the smell is very unpleasant.
You always give precious information, have a smart and honest personality, and the way you speak is relaxing. Thank you!
hi, I have retinA but its a few years old, when does it expire?
I love your videos! I am wanting to moisturize my skin in the best way possible to prevent any sagging skin during my weight loss journey. What would be your opinion on differin for the upper thighs and any areas of concern for preventing loose skin? I would cover with a moisturizer of coarse. I just really don’t want to have to make a derm appointment to ask this one question. I would appreciate any insight you may have. Thank you for your time.
hoe many times do you use I in a week
Amlactin rapid relief 15% lotion is also great for nightly use on face if you can’t tolerate retinoids, at least for me. It exfoliates and brightens like no other!
Can you let me know how long have you been using it? Thank you
@@hoangthai3974 I was using it for almost a year, it works but I’m using niacinamide now, I can’t stick to a routine for long
Hi, Jenn. Always love seeing you. I've resolved my KP (and a myriad of other textural skin issues - and achieved general bodily softness) by buying 50% pure glycolic acid online, putting it in a glass dropper bottle and just putting some in each squirt of whatever body lotion I'm using. That way, I can always adapt it to my needs and it's extraordinarily cheap and long-lasting.
Which brands do you use?
@@briannab4770 i don't like puting lotions on my body because i'm so oily but i have kp can i mix the glycolic acid peel in my shower gel idk if the acid will be active and will still work
@@silavie1378 - Heya. I totally get it. I hate feeling greasy. Honestly, you could mix it with anything. It would work in shower gel, but the effect wouldn't be quite as pronounced because you're rising it right off.
Something I might recommend is perhaps buying a cheap hyaluronic acid or a hyaluronic acid gel in order to help spread the acid without the greasy, occlusive agents in a moisturizer. I have used a hyaluronic acid gel and it is not oily at ALL.
Or you could try diluting the acid and just applying it neat to your body, obviously experimenting with what strength works for you. You may want to do a higher concentration a couple times a week, a lower concentration every day, y'know, whatever works for you.
You could even try doing a high strength of pure glycolic acid on the body and rinse off after a few minutes, like a mini peel (The Ordinary's 30% glycolic acid peel is massively popular and I use it on my face once a week for 10-15 minutes).
The body can withstand more rigorous exfoliation than the face as the skin is thicker and less sensitive.
Hope I didn't overwhelm you, I just want to give you options so you can find what works for you.
I was not aware that 50% glycolic acid concoctions were available for purchase 🤔 thank you!
@@xxEmmeline.Laurier - Oh, you'd be surprised! I've seen up to 100% pure acid!
I’m the same way regarding full force on everything, it’s gotten better as I have gotten older and am actively trying to do better.
Lol me too
When you say it resolved your KP do you mean the bumps AND redness/hyperpigmentation ? Or just the bumps? I find that acids or physical exfoliation clears up the bumps but not the discolored dots often associated with KP
hey jenn i had a question i am using tret 0.05 since 2 weeks but my skin is only purging and not peeling so is it working?
Honestly one of the few non melanated women I see holding onto thier beauty organically past 40. U look AMAZING.
You’re the most interesting person - I’ve ever listened too. I love the words you used often. Does your family talk this way as well? Just curious. Have you ever thought to get into skin chemistry? Love your videos! I was curious as much as you’re organized with your Skin, body and mind. Is your home organized just the same?
I’ve been using the Amlactin rapid relief lotion for about a month or so now and I’m seeing some improvements already! My skin feels much smoother overall and slowly but surely the bumps are going down. Thank you for sharing!
Do you notice the product has any (maple?) syrup like odor? I read multiple reviews speaking about this. If it has an odor, does it go away? Thank you.
@@ScoobyDoosMomit does smell syrupy, but it goes away after it dries down
Is your kp gone? Please update.
Love this! I have had KP since I was a child, my doctor used to say it would subside with age and while it did on my face, I still have on on my thighs, buttocks and arms. I will give the blue one a try right away!
It does subside often on its own. Mine never did, unfortunately (I did not "grow out of it"), so I decided to take targeted treatment measures as it was not only bumpy and rough but also red. I used to have it on my cheeks, too; and that did go away as I grew older.
I've been using CeraVe SA cream...it's awesome 🙌
How did it go? Did it help?
How to get rid of the hyper pigmentation left by KP scars? Cos my skin is now smooth but the the KP red scars are there.
@@bobbymommychiyo6302yesss i really wanna know how to remove the red prints on my skin because my arms are smooth but the color is still there

Happy to help!
Thank you, Jennifer. I wonder how you handle exposure in the summer, as for swimming in the pool and the sea or sunbathing. Maybe you have tips regarding things to be extra wary of in the summer? Your videos are interesting and relaxing to watch. I check my sources and do research, but I trust you a lot with the information and experiences you share with us. Thank you for being such a calm, reliable and helping person.
Omg, I was binging your videos, changing my life and all that, and you updated.

There is so more I want to express, however it'll end up as a paragraph 😅
But yeah the value you bring to my life, it's beyond that I can express through words

Hi jen! Ameliorate transforming body lotion as suggested by dr Sam bunting worked wonders for me just in a month I could make out so much difference
Avoid standing under the hot water for the entire duration of your shower.
The hot water strikes directly on your shoulders, back, and upper arms .. depending on your height. Exposing your upper body to constant stream of hot water for 10-20 mins a day can really dry out your skin and cause problems. Keep in mind your limbs are drier than your torso.
Thank you so much! This video is actually very useful for me 😅 I’ve always had a really severe case of keratosis pilaris, since a very young age. For me, one of my purposes in life has been to find some ways to manage my KP at least by a little bit.
Did anything help you out? Please share
Hi Jen so happy to see a video from you my daughter is experiencing this on her arms she’s a swimmer so I hope this won’t be to strong a treatment because of being in the chlorine everyday but will proceed cautiously so thank you for this tip you look absolutely gorgeous in this video God Bless you can you do a video on wear you shop for clothes jewelry etc much love sent you way
If somebody there day can't find a good product with lactic acid, can just apply to the skin natural yogurt, not only it contains lactic acid, the aminoacids in it also helps to improve the skin barrier and hydrate it. Also it's all natural, for those who prefer. Ah, and you will also get the benefits of the probiotics in it, which also are a gamechanger for skin care.
Wow, interesting! Thanks for sharing. I imagine applying yogurt to the skin is something of an age-old & time-tested remedy for inflamed skin. I say this because I know yogurt is a rich source of ZINC, which is known to possess anti-inflammatory properties.
What do you mean by natural yogurt?
People should also consider that food products arent necessarily formulated for skincare. Skincare products has absorption enhancers for them to work best for the skin, this is why DIY skincare tend to be, more often than not, more irritating to the skin rather than actually formulated products with expected and predictable results. 'Natural' isnt necessarilly better either, Lactic acid can also be produced with just milk and vinegar - but i dont recommend this for obvious reasons, but YMMV and to each their own. Do what you think is best or works for your skin as each reacts differently to certain formulations, but do note that lactic acid, and even sodium lactate, in food products doesnt equate formulated ingredients in skincare products.
@@hurrstardlikemustard and for that very reason natural products are not quite as harmful like skin care products . lactic acid from youghurt is safe. Ayurveda goes as far as saying that if you cant eat it ,dont put it on skin either .It might be as efficacious or ight need more time to work but it wont be as dangerous either .For eg doctors have only now begun to understand how retinoids kills meibomian glands of eye even if not applied in eye area. And people who have suffered from When something so publicised causes such kind of harm can you imagine the long term effects of the various skin care products which no one has studied over long course ?! I mean even Tret is regarded as safe by most doctors except for dry eye doctors.
@@YinYanUzumaki just because you can eat it doesnt mean its going to be effective either. All i said is that food products arent formulated for skincare applications - which is exactly my point. Had there ever been anecdotes of people using any form of yoghurt to treat Keratosis Pilaris with such a high outcome of success just because it has lactic acid ? With no regard of the percentage of the active in the food item, and without a moisturizing base formulation to ensure that the actives even penetrate to exfoliate KP while keeping the skin moisturize ? if it were that simple then there should no longer be any demand for products like Amlactin or Urea based moisturizers - thats goes from 10 to 15% of the formulations respectively - to relieve such skin conditions, we should just used yoghurt to treat KP for the longest time. The OP's comment was a suggestion of an alternative, but just because yoghurt has lactic acid doesnt mean it should be an alternative to actual skincare products that treats certain conditions specifically. Not only does it waste other peoples' time and money, it does nothing to treat the condition and or worse, even aggravate it further, since thats not the proper treatment for said conditions - because the point still remains that food products is not formulated for skincare.
Pheww I’ve had KP all my life~ will be trying out these tips!! Ty 💗
I never comment, but I have that too, only on the backs of my arms, since my early 20’s😭 I am excited to see what you have to say , I added sardines bc of you a few months ago, then I started taking beef liver bc of you just last month-this one, idk why but I can tell!)(tret bc of you and a bunch of research, it’s been almost 2 yrs ) (I just turned 35 ) I also started the castor oil, and I just happened to get the same brand you left a review on-purely by accident , but i felt safe with the brand when I saw your review. That one is a slow process, it’s been 6m-1yr, but I keep up with it. (On my eyelashes of course) 😃. Idk what it is about you, but I trust your wholesome advice. I have also included bone broth(tho I’m still working towards being consistent) Now that I’m thinking of it. I’m actually super proud that I’ve managed to start, and keep so many good habits!! I thank you so much!!! Oh ok! So my dr gave me a 12% lactate lotion, and it has improved some from how it used to be, but Based on what you have said, I am on the right track. I just have not been diligent enough, and I don’t use exfoliate gloves or lock it in with a moisturizer. I am going to add that, and see if I can’t get the rest of the way. I didn’t know it could be applied all over body either, but I will grab the amlactin for the rest of my body. (I just want to include, I have had 4 boys, and I live in a isolated area. Figuring out sound information through limited in person access, and the myriad of ideas on the internet has been a challenge over the years, and that is why I am so grateful for you sharing. I know you give very down to earth sound advice. I just want you to know that your channel has impacted my quality of life, which in turn impacts my family’s. Thank you Again.❤️
Love the amlactin products! Thank you for confirming a product that works for many people. I used to use the prescription 12% lactic acid cream. Now i’m using the 15% blue bottle Amlactin. My buttocks skin is like a babies 😄.

It totally does!!

hi dear you are so beautiful, what's you use for your skin glow❤
Hello Jennifer, Thank you this is very informative. Do you use SPF on your arms in the daytime? Also why do use an SPF 50 and an SPF 30 on your face does this protect your skin better by combining them vs just using only an SPF 50. I appreciate you and all your videos, they’ve helped me in so many ways. Have a wonderful day.
I use SPF as an everyday habit. The layering of my facial sunscreens is done purely for aesthetic/vanity reasons (I find my face looks more "polished" and "done" with a tinted moisturizer on).
@@JenniferMyers Thank you Jennifer, I appreciate your response and for answering my question. Good to know, I will try it out.
@@JenniferMyers what sunscreen do u use for ur body? i’d love to know!
Awe i like that you acknowledged that its not an inherent problem.
Always feel that she's looking directly into the soul. Powerful stare
Hey Jen! You mentioned you didn’t want to apply prescription strength Vitamin A on large surface of your body on a continuous basis.
I was wondering why that is? Is it harmful for us? Also would be possible for you to make a video on how you keep the skin on your body healthy except the amlactin lotion and if it’s possible to prevent ageing there?
Hi! I think she means she didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a prescription every time she ran out of it. I doubt that it's harmful :)
Long term use of vitamin a (especially the active form) in large quantities may lead to vitamin a toxicity and liver damage
That's exactly it, Aima.
It can potentially be, yes. In fact, overuse of anything is not advisable, in my opinion...
@@myriambenhajyahia5519 As a nurse, I was taught that excessive vitamin A consumption can cause toxicity. Not on the skin.
Cerave has a “rough and bumpy” cream with salicylic acid and lactic acid. It’s very thick and emollient and I slather it on my arms after a lukewarm shower. It’s cheap, simple, and if you’re patient it will work on due time. I also do physical exfoliation once twice a week on the arms with the First Aid Beauty KP scrub. Very important to use a good SPF as well!
You’re absolutely right that time and patience are key. In life there aren’t always quick fixes.
could you please tell me if this has visibly reduced your KP? i know its near impossible for it to completely go away but i'm planning on buying the Cerave SA cream so this would really help :)
@@azuibleu8959 Yes, in some spots it disappeared completely (especially in summer; dry winter it doesn’t totally go away). It goes take a lot of time and consistency but it works!

I have it on my arms, I'm super pale so needless to say it shows up quite noticeably. Granted it has gotten better the older I get, it's something people typically grow out of. I had a girl on my bed, and I had my arms up and she literally went "eww what is that" :/
Does any of these products build up dangerous levels of toxins in your body like say salicylic acid does? It thins your blood like aspirin after time. Does AHA or BHA, Glycolic, and Retinol do that?
Dangerous levels of toxins by Salicylic Acid? To be honest that's the first time I hear of that, could you elaborate?
Also as far as I know they do not accumulate on the body, Vit A only if you take it internally and unsupervised.
@@eliftok7877 I am not sure how to explain it because I’m not a scientist but it’s all transdermal. The amount that you get absorbed it very little day by day. But, can accumulate to dangerous levels. Both with Vitamin A and Salicylic acid. This is why pregnant women are advised not to use them. They as well cause birth defects applied topically even. Please google for the scientific evidence and explanation.
@@serenityslife4910 I just did a quick search and found a meta study (in german tho) I found on locally applied Tretinoin states there is no significant higher rate of miscarriage in 600 preganant women, from which 500 used it locally. However, it is not advised to take it during pregnany just as an extra measurement. Which happens often, because you don't want to use anything that's even remotely potentially harmful to the fetus (understandably).
The resorption rate is too small though and I haven't found any study yet to confirm it accumulates in the body (and it's not like our body doesn't detoxify on it's own)
But of course the absorption depends on how big the area is, you apply it on
Systematically I agree though and it should not be taken during pregnancy, especially not the 1. Trimester
Systemically the half time(? Time until half of the concentration has broken down) is like 2 h, it says, so there is that.
Regarding BHA or Salicylic acid, I haven't found any data on accumulation besides of plants tbh
I only know that it irreversibly block COX1 and COX2, which results in some side effects like gastritis or Thrombocytopenia.
But what your comment made me aware of is the use of it on large areas of the skin and therefore a higher absorption rate. So thanks for that thought.
If you find any studies about the accumulation, I'd be interested though. I ended my nursing training in 2020 and am now in my 2nd year of medical school im Germany, so there is still much for me to learn about. 😊
A word of caution. Lactic acid or most (not all) of the AHAs are quite irritating for people with darker skin tone (black, brown). It causes hyperpigmentation which is counter productive. This is definitely true in my case (Brown Asian). So please use some caution. There are gentle exfoliating acids meant for darker skin tones.
Which lotion would you recommend on the body for dark skin? I want to do everything I can to prevent significant aging!
Glycolic acid is supposed to be more gentle maybe that would work! 😊
They can absolutely be irritating and even caustic to the skin in certain individuals.
Thank you! I'm not even dark skinned but my body still reacts badly to certain things and I get hyperpigmentation easily (latina/native/white)
@@brittanygibbons6297 Glycolic is the most irritating of the AHAs, because it's the smallest one and penetrates deepest. Mandelic is the largest and most gentle one. (Lactic is in the middle of the two!)
I use the 15% lotion on my KP, and I wash with Glytone (a high quality glycolic acid body wash). After 5 months, I still haven't noticed much impact on my KP other than a smoother feel (the red bumps are still there). I have a severe case, with significant red bumps on 80% of my body. I'll keep it up, though. Thanks for the encouraging video!

Hi! Can't find sunscreen that's affordable and not full of chemicals. I've even seen that sun "protection" with chemical filters WORSEN skin aging? And what about vit D? If you have sunscreen on your whole body, when will you ever get enough bit D (and other good things that the sun also provides)? I just purchased the rapid one and can't wait to continue to use, the smell is a bit strange and it feels a bit tacky and sticky on the skin, but if it will help with my skin I do not kind. Thank you sooo very much for sharing this info ❤️🙏
Would you say the smell is like maple syrup? I haven’t purchased it yet but that’s what I’ve read in reviews. Not sure how my nose would handle that. I got my derm to prescribe a version of it that has no odor but would like to buy off shelf if I could get past the odor.

Other day i saw another Dermatologist she told me i have keratosis pilaris . I was searching on internet but i cudnt find what is the best face wash for someone with keratosis pilaris ?
I think you should make another video about your diet. It’s never redundantLike your dietary beliefs. Examples: Oil vs. no oil on food. What are your views on salt. What are you views on eating eggs. I know you swear by liver, and you are definitely on the money with that. I just had a really bad case of Covid and it was a wake-up call for me on many levels.

Omg yesss I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with my Kp… so thank you for this! Are you mixed race by any chance? I am so I’m wondering if it’s a halfie thing since i haven’t heard of many others with this problem 😅
Really? That’s interesting, I’m half Too. Lol half Cuban/and half white ie German & scotch Irish. I have been embarrassed of my KP since it started in my early 20’s.
No, this is not a “ half” thing. I know plenty of people that have KP, I have it also. It is pretty common
My only concern with Amlactin is the smell. The product may be good for the skin, but I cannot make myself using it because of how it smells.
Do you think this lotion can help with sunspots just above my knees? I got a blistering sunburn there many years ago. :/

hey jenn i had a question i am using tret 0.05 since 2 weeks but my skin is only purging and not peeling so is it working?
2 weeks is a very brief time! It's not enough time for anything to happen in my experience. Everyone's skin is different, but I remember waiting many, many weeks before any of the side effects even started to really make themselves...pronounced, shall I say. I know it's boring and annoying advice to hear, but you must be patient and just stay consistent with your routine. Waiting is boring, I know.
I had looked in to this for KP but read numerous reviews that it smells like (maple?) syrup which some say doesn’t dissipate. Do you notice it has an odor and if so, was it something that you got used to? I ended up getting my derm to call in a prescription cream but I would consider this to soften skin if it didn’t smell like syrup. I have a pretty sensitive nose. Hope to hear from you. Have a beautiful day!

Hello Jennifer, thankyou for the calming video. Just a petite question, do you eat pork or chicken or any other meat besides beef/red meat?
Thank you Jennifer! You gave me hope in case retinoic acid doesn't work hehe. Hmm.. No wonder Amlactin wasn't effective on me coz I used it for 2weeks and once a day only (tester size). Problem is, these US brands aren't that common in local groceries/malls here. It is sold online but 2x-3x the price. I'll save up for it first and try it again. Until then, I'll continue using my RA 0.025% on my arms and thighs until I finish the tub. I have KP for 30yrs and they say it will diminish in time but in my case it kinda got worse in my late 20s (I started having it on thighs as well). My dad seem to have his gone by 50s. But I dont think I can wait that long haha so I'll definitely try these tips, Jen. Thanks again and have a good day. ❤🤗
I’ll be 43 next month. I’ve had KP since I was 15. It doesn’t go away IME - you just have to exfoliate the area regularly forever with chemical peels. It does take months to completely get rid of it & if you’re not consistent it will come back. Glycolic acid works well for me & doesn’t irritate my dry, sensitive skin.
I saw a review on Amazon that said they use silicon oil, and that can increase epidermis thickness
Do you have any facial glycolic products you recommend?

I tried those gloves but regardless of how much soap you use or the type of soap you use, they never lather up. I don't like that. did that happen to you?

You are so beautiful. You look almost exactly like my mom and sister at a young age.
Her face does not move much. Eyes look kinda dead too. Creepy.
Hey Jen what about using tretinoin for KP or kprf though??
Hi Jenn😋 Thank you for sharing💕 Did you experience any clothing decoloration for using the lactic acid ?
Seems like Amlactin isn't available in the UK. Is there any alternative?
I would look for any product with lactic acid as the second or third ingredient, and something that contains glycerin as well as fatty alcohols (cetyl or stearyl alcohols) for hydration. Anything with a 10-15% concentration of lactic acid would be what I would personally look for.
@@JenniferMyers i had the idea of mixing my body lotion with the ordinary lactic acid 10% serum. do you think that’s a good idea? by the way, thank you so much for ur videos, you literally helped me to change my life/habits
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for your video, will try this.
i chose to not use my adapalene gel and am very vary of how much i use my bha exfoliant in the summer months because it is just too hard for me to stay covered all of the time, i use the products much more in colder months
You look incredible young and beautiful
Skin conditions always start from the inside out
You are stunning and astonishingly young for your age. I tried Retin A a long time ago. My skin was so sensitive to light. Even indoor light would make my skin darker. I used good sunscreen, but I still got lots of color on my face. Does the hyper sensitivity to light diminish as time goes on? I figured the drawbacks of getting sun damage wasn’t worth the benefits of Retin A. I’m religious about sunscreen and I do my research about the best sunscreens.
No the hypersensitivity is permanent (while using tret) because the skin is thinner & newer. I don’t use sunblock or sunscreen. I just avoid the sun on my skin except early & late in the day.
hey jenn i had a question i am using tret 0.05 since 2 weeks but my skin is only purging and not peeling so is it working?
Would this be safe to use on the face if you have KP on the face
My kp go away when I stopped to use soap. 2 years soap free and my skin looks better than ever
What not even shampoo
your teeth look wonderful, would be interesting to hear about your daily and yearly routine 😊
hello, I am 14 years old, I would like to know if I can use the products you use because I have a lot of pimples, I asked a doctor but he replied that it will pass because it is teen pimples but noticed it only got worse could you tell me what i should do. Thank you for giving me your time
Ask a dermatologist, not a regular doctor. Differin or tretinoin are commonly used in treatment of acne, differin is even available over the counter if you can’t see a dermatologist. Just read the instructions carefully to avoid making your skin worse! They’re strong and you need to be careful, but they work well
I have it on my arms and my doctor told me there's nothing I can do, I'm gonna try this because I really don't like it.
It is very stubborn, I know. I had it all my life up until my late teens!
Hey any updates?
Hey, i have a question. Where do you get your retinol from?
