What I'm trying to say is that we wear our lives on our faces. Everyone does. And I've never been a bubbly, over-animated person, so it would come across extremely artificial if I faked a persona that isn't who I am. Additionally, tretinoin imparts a "pulling" (tightening/firming) effect on the skin, which, is both good and bad. Yes, it makes the complexion appear flawless, but there are definite downsides. I can't open my mouth too widely, or I start to peel immediately, for example. The skin, before it peels (mine peels every day), becomes very tight, and taut, and tightly pulled skin looks ultra smooth and shiny, and then it sort of "cracks" (mine does anyway), starts to flake, and then peels away. New fresh skin is then revealed. This is the mechanism of Retin-A. Ultimately, I take it as a compliment and a testament to the power of this product, if people simply "can't believe" I've achieved my skin with the use of topical cream alone. That people believe me or don't believe me doesn't change the truth, and beyond what I've said here, I can't do much else. It's not my concern to convince anyone of anything. Thank you. I'm so glad you feel motivated to maintain your skincare routine. It's a few minutes each day, morning and night, to make it a habit! Do it! You'll thank yourself in years to come.
I do believe retin-a works but in this case, I think it's also good genes. Your skin overall (arms, neck, chest) looks great as if you were 25 yrs old and you haven't used retin-a there. From what I knew, castor oil is drying, I used to put it on my lashes too with good results.
I've been using Retin A for over 15 yrs. And currently use Altreno (Tretinoin) lotion, which was FDA approved in late 2018. Tretinoin is extremely overrated. And I agree with you it is also genes. And also income and middle class status and education plays a role as well. There's many factors. People assume Tretinoin will fix everything.
bro, she has been practicing sun protection for her entire life, even on her body. her family is very skin conscious. sun exposure is almost 100% of the time the cause of wrinkles and age spots. It might have a little bit to do with her genetics, but the majority of it is proper skin care.

I started moisturizing my skin when I was about 15/16. At 17 I started using a thicker nightcream & sometimes Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum. I'm late 20s now and people still think I'm 17. It's never too young to take care of yourself!
@@katice3 i never got a notification for you reply so this is super late. but when you were my age, you weren’t really suffering from the skin conditions i suffered unfortunately. i have been going to dermatologists since i was only 10 and i kind of gave up taking care of my skin because i thought that there was no hope for me. watching my mom and jen do their skincare just motivated me.
I remember when I was in my early twenties and I walked into a department store and was curious about anti aging products, two older ladies behind the counter discouraged me from exploring any further. They kept saying how I am too young for that. Now in my late thirties I see signs of aging and starting just now to catch up. It’s fine though. I just ordered the same castor oil that you use and I began using tretinoin .025% about a month ago. I hope my lashes and skin will someday look as nice as yours does without makeup 😊
What is aging my skin is not my skincare because that is flawless. I use vitamin c, sunscreen, retinol, hylaronic acid, and exfoliate 1x a week. It is the amount of sugar I eat. Sugar causes sagging akin and wrinkles. It makes my skin look tired. I just cant let it go
Hey, I totally support you that you don’t have to ans to anyone’s speculations. I am 23 visited the dermatologist once a month and the doctor told me the holy grail is to sunscreens prevention is better, prevent photo damage first and foremost then sleep well eat well, use moisturisers, clean skin properly, and also exercise.
I do my chest, shoulders, upper arms and neck too! Using retinol and other goodies like niacinamide and allantoin, placental protein, peptides and ceramides, arginine and vitamin c, etc these all benefit my skin on those areas too.Besides actives I also loves to treat my skin with humectants like glycerin and sodium hyaluronate/hyaluronic acid or hydrolyzed collagen. I’ve done this for a few years now and boy, am I smooth! I’m actually very proud as well as grateful for my skins texture and appearance. I definitely have both worked for this but I also have some sort of genetic advantage. I haven’t always been that good to my body; I have struggled with eating disorders since I was a child and I also am addicted to opiates and have been all my life. Though I’m not abusing anymore I do have been prescribed methadone as a lifelong medication for my addiction. So when you know that, looking as fresh and smooth and plump as I do at the age of forty two, forty three - that’s kinda amazing. I’m living my best skin life as a middle aged woman ✨😌✨ But on the other hand, I think we all have histories and life journeys that should be taken in consideration, and when we do that, we see that we are absolutely amazing and life in itself is a wonderful thing. Take care people and live your best life, every day! 🌸🦋💗 I just started massaging my castor oil, that I use for my hair, into my lower eyelashes and eyebrows. My upper eyelashes have lash extensions so right now there’s not much that I can do. This is going to be interesting. I’m going to buy another bottle of castor oil as soon as possible, though, because the oil that I use for my hair isn’t just pure castor oil but it has fragrance and whatnot in it. So in a week or a few days I’ll have a pure castor oil for my lashes and under eye.
Your eyelashes are amazing! I noticed in your pinned comment that you're still getting used to filming yourself - your a natural. We all start out rookies, but you're doing great.
After watching thousands of routine I find it simple and effective! And yeah I just ordered the cetaphil cleanser, I feel like my face is suffering bcuz of harsh cleansers.

I’ve been using tretinoin 0.05 for about 7 months now and my skin is at the top and the best state i ever had. I still do buffer and only use this once a week but the result just simply amazing. I’ve started to apply it on my neck, chest, knee and elbow - amazing result too. Thanks Jennifer for sharing your knowledge and experiences ❤️❤️❤️
Hey Dayana... I saw your comment and i hope you'll get back to me. I noticed we have similar issues... Like I don't have acne but i wanna improve my skin texture. I've been putting 100% pure castor oil IN my actual eyes every night when I go to sleep for two years and it has whitened and brightened the whites of my eyes. It has also reduced eye strain and chronic eye pain. It has also helped make my eyes naturally more moist over time. I used to have extremely veiny bloodshot eyes! Castor oil has made all the difference, it is a godsend! It has helped improve my eyes SO MUCH. ALSO, my eyelashes and eyebrows have become A LOT thicker, darker and longer over time aswell. Castor oil also has anti-ageing properties because it repairs and rejuvenates the cells in your skin. I LOVE castor oil so much! It's my miracle oil! Jennifer, have been a silently watching you and today i just want to say how beautifully long your eye lashes are. I didn't know you can put castor oil straight onto face and lashes. I always thought we need to dillute it with other oil so that it's not so thick. I once bought castor oil and it was so hard to spread. Ended up not using it much. Thank you for inspiring me to start tretinoin. I have been using retinol, retinaldehyde and also backuchiol for many years (not all at the same time) so when I started tretinoin, my skin's kinda ok with it. No redness, no sensitivity, all good so far.

The best Castor Oil is Henry Miller Cosmetics, if you can get it, it’s always sold out on Amazon, so I get it on Poshmark, if not sold out..good regimen.
Your lashes or a beautiful, they sort of have a star shape. Does the castor oil burn your eyes? Now, since you mention that your face feels very tight with retin A and it cracks sometimes I think I might know what the problem is, even though you didn't ask me. First, you've got the hyaluronic acid which will boost the hydration in your face and you have the emollients but you're putting the Retin-A on too quickly, the face should dry first. And I think even though you have the emollients, and the hyaluronic acid you probably need to use the CeraVe p.m. over the entire face to seal all of that good moisture in after. In fact putting the moisturizer on first might help a lot, meaning apply it before the Retin-A. I don't know if you have dry or oily skin but your Retin-A looks like a gel which generally works better with oily skin and the cream form works better with dry skin. Just trying to help with the irritation and flaking and peeling that you still seem to be getting after 15 years. Your skin looks Flawless though! Merry Christmas!
Hey Jennifer, really like your channel and your down to earth personality! I was wondering what other products you might recommend for people who don’t live in the US and cant get their hands on tretinoin! Your skin is gorg love! Thanks

Wow your skin is beautiful! I’m 26 and this is goals. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate that this is not about commercialism, but real results. 👍
Aside from genetics the reason her skin is so flawless is that she has not damaged her moisture barrier. Exfoliating physical or chemical can disrupt the skins moisture barrier. It's best to start low and slow and work your way up as she stated

Vegard B It’s also sugar intake!! Excessive glycation is terrible for our skin.
bro, she has been practicing sun protection for her entire life, even on her body. her family is very skin conscious. sun exposure is almost 100% of the time the cause of wrinkles and age spots. It might have a little bit to do with her genetics, but the majority of it is proper skin care.

i’m only 17 but my mom is super crazy with skincare, she is in her early 50’s but so many people thing she’s like late 30’s. you and my mom really inspire me on taking care of my skin and i’ve been starting early with a lot of anti-aging stuff. i know some people might be like ‘???’ but my mom honestly started early with her anti aging stuff and it helped her a lot.
i think thinking about aging is aging. when i was your age i was climbing trees had no thoughts at all of wrinkles
I value my many other qualities but would like to look my best as best that I can from now on.

YOUR LASHES HOLY HECK SO BEAUTIFUL
Because of you and a Dr I follow I started Dermatica last week. I also began the castor oil last night ( very challenging not to get it into eyes). I cannot believe the difference in a week! Prob not enough for others to notice but we know our own skin and it is amazing 🤩 Thank you for your honesty and your down to earth approach. This has been the ONLY thing that has ever made any difference. Looking forward to luscious lashes too 🤣
My night time routine:
1) Cleanse
2)Tone
3)Moisturiser
4) Tretinoin 0.05%
5)Rosehip oil
I don’t use tretinoin on my neck or chest cos I tried that and it burned me so badly. I instead apply a retinol around those areas. It’s milder for neck and chest. This is my second year using tretinoin and my skin is just glowing and glass-like❤

I’m living my best skin life as a middle aged woman
✨😌✨ But on the other hand, I think we all have histories and life journeys that should be taken in consideration, and when we do that, we see that we are absolutely amazing and life in itself is a wonderful thing. Take care people and live your best life, every day! 🌸🦋💗
I just started massaging my castor oil, that I use for my hair, into my lower eyelashes and eyebrows.

Make sure the castor oil you use is: 1) Cold-pressed 2) Hexane-free 3) 100% pure and vegan!!! I use the 240ml Ecla Castor oil from Amazon! fyi.

Castor Oil brands should pay her money 😳😳😳😳 i'm going to buy one.
