Welcome back to the latest Destiny 2 Season of Dawn lore episode. In today’s lore episode we are explaining the lore behind the black garden, specifically the Kentarch 3 fireteam who went into the Black Garden and seemed to become DARK GAURDIANS!

New Lore of clear explanation for the Vex' creation? (like [Maressana])? or just old recitings from the [Unveiling]?
With all such origins of the original Pattern's and the Vex' that we heard here, I would be sure that the Nine would be envious of the early Vex' breaching into the Material Realm easily than their own. [chuckles]

Suddenly I'm imagining Oryx and The Darkness riding around in pyramid ship like it's a lowrider, with one arm hanging out the window, cruising around looking for fools in rival gang colours to smoke for coming on their patch.

I think the Vex's purpose is to rule the universe rather than restoring balance, because in the flower game they always became the only pattern and the gardener made the new rules because the Vex always won the game and erased all other possibilities
You are absolutely correct. This is confirmed by the Final Shape lore entry that, when explaining the flowers that always win, the darkness says, "They're majestic, I said. They have no purpose except to subsume all other purposes. There is nothing at the center of them except the will to go on existing, to alter the game to suit their existence. They spare not one sliver of their totality for any other work. They are the end." And later on, the pattern that won the game is said to escape into the new cosmos and as such, the all consuming flower is what we see as the Vex today. This also lines up with most of the Vex plans in Destiny history.

Fascinating. Did anyone else catch the fact that worms grew from the garden? Then the worms became large and powerful.
This sounds like also the origins of the worm gods. Maybe there were many worms. Billions? But these 5 (now 4) just happened by chance to survive and in their age grew large and powerful to where they are now
I suspect cannibalism between the Worms. For what could possibly make you more powerful than killing someone that is nearly as powerful?

@@loganthekrogan2182 Likely, after all Oryx got his Taken powers from killing a Worm God. Oryx (At the time Auryx) killed the Worm God Akka, Worm of Secrets, and learned the secrets of the worm, earning him the name Oryx, the Taken King.
Pretty sure I remember during the Mars expansion that the Will of Thousands was going after the warmind because it was afraid the other worm god were going to kill it, with it being the weakest of the 5.

It's always fun to hear the Darkness unveiling it's monomania, the very reason it will lose. It will never be able to "see" the thing that ends it, most likely through changing what it fundamentally is.

When you realize that this ultimately means that the vex, as an entity, is the physical form of one of the primordial beings that brought creation, and having won the game as the inevitable outcome makes them the strongest technically speaking, and yet they're just an enemy we've been casually popping while sweating minions of the darkness like oryx etc lul
They were the victors before the Light and the Dark began to directly participate in the cycle of life and death. When the conflict between Gardener and Winnower birthed the universes we know, suddenly the Vex weren't the inevitable solution anymore, as they can't account for paracausal Light/Dark. The Vex are just as capable of losing, or winning, as the rest of us.
This entire thing about the vex doesn't make sense to me. They are robots? Why would that process make a robot. Surely some alien made them other than the 3 we know.

@@RagingEmmissary yes but simple bacteria can't make an entire cyborg or robot, like they are. Something or someone must've helped them to create the robotic shell.
@@iCore7Gaming lol you're not reading too much into it. You're just reading it wrong. These are ephemeral entities being birthed when the traveler and the darkness departed the garden. Their form is of their own making the same way the traveler or even a human body is. They are far from simple bacteria

Great Job Sir! I loved this Lore book so much..... While you do have to remember the darkness is the narrator and some things may be said to manipulate the narrative, it's still good to see the curtain pulled back a bit
Just missed the premiere. Also, have you ever noticed how the white Vex Rock and Metal (Precursor, Descendant, or Modern) all have the same etched texture as the Pyramid ship does on the outside and inside?
I’ll keep in mind that this is a game and we are taking about lore: Does the lore mention anything in regards to the quantum screen? I believe that the pressures from the light “grinding” against the darkness created and continues to create objects, patterns, anomalies, etc. I believe that we are similar in the sense that we ourselves are meat machines. Our consciousness is no more than a fluid pattern of “forgetfulness” in which we are driven only to things we desire and to that extent expend resources for that purpose and any other larger purposes beyond that. Complex life =complex desires. We systematically knock out our goals and use them as a sort of perpetual fuel. Common goals are therefore “important” to the totality of the larger system of “life” which simply is all that is known and unknown and has probability that can be assigned to it. We are the eventuality of improbability, are we not?

The lore entries mentioned worms leaving the garden as well. Maybe also where Ahamkara/worm gods came from?

We might not realising this now, ( or maybe we do) but this lore is VERY important. Just as much as all the events we play. Similar to crota oryx red war. This finally tells us what vex really are and how they were made. Something we didn’t know for sure and wondered since the days of vault of glass.

And they’re called Vex because, according to entry “The Flower Game”, the Gardener was vexed when that pattern kept winning the game over and over again.

Hey myelin I dont know if you've been informed but a neat bit of lore when you save saint 14 the fallen house thats you shows on the death screen is house rain and they wear the same colors as the other fallen we fight today so either bungies too busy to change the colors or maybe it was intentional to link house rain into this
The conglomerate house we fight today took their colors from house rain. It was one of the first houses to the wiped out after coming to our system

Really speaks volumes that this lore from three years ago was also being drip-fed just like the current lore and ultimately didn't even matter and got retconned.
This really proves how the traveler parallels the demiurge in gnosticism

Wet things. The veil? The creatures that smell like wet earth maybe? Worms that grew large, worm gods? Scurrying things ,ahamkara maybe? Long shot but maybe
I think when the darkness says 'they are not all mine...nonetheless they have found their way home' because of the context I think this has two meanings. The first as you said the vex have gone back to the garden. Secondly the sol divisive have been known to fight with other vex collectives. This tied with the fact we have seen them worship the darkness offers a second meaning and that the sol divisive belong to the darkness and that 'found their way home' could actually be talking about the darkness itself.

what if the garden is mercury itself and the battle or the "wrestling" between the darkness and light occurs there. when our doppleganger shows up and tells us he's our salvation maybe we die, hence the grave from the corridors of time and then the darkness revives us or something.

Ok so with the new leak that was just put on 4chan naming the fall expansion “the collapse” it talks about how the city will fall and the darkness leader or mother ship is called “the winnower” this kind of confirms the leak

Explain what possibly killed our Guardian at the end of the corridors of time?
I always knew the Vex were the big bad since Destiny 1. The only thing that can really stop the Vex is the power to take. There are so few guardians that the light doesn't matter to them at all and whoever had the power to take can take entire worlds at a time. Even then, the garden Vex dont need to be taken as they already worship the darkness.
What we need is to find out what Calus knows and maybe we can find out how the Vex fare.

Also ... Interesting that we get to understand why the Taken become taken... The darkness claims them and can kill them.... But instead of killing them, the darkness "zombifies" them in order to help bring balance to the equation in it's favor. The darkness considers Oryx a loyal servant so it allowed Oryx to take. Very interesting
