- Trying something a little different here. Using Dawn Powerwash soap to clean my nasty tires. Works better than anything I've tried so far.

I wear that mud like a badge of honor. I worked hard to get it, I'm keeping it!!!
Yeah Nicky, but don't you have an XJ??🤔😏😉😂😂🤘🏻
@@ShockWaveOffroad Yea!! the mud helps hide the rust.
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍🏻
If it’s super difficult to get rid of, it may not be mud. Tires are manufactured with something called antiozinant mixed into the rubber compound. It helps prevent cracking and dehydration from ozone and ultraviolet rays. It gets pushed to the surface with each rotation of the tire. And guess what color it is? Yup, brown. Any tire that spends time in the sun will turn brown Protecting itself. Some brands of tires do it more than others. Some cleaners draw it to the surface more than others. Best thing you can do is use a tire protectant with an antiozinant. Maguires has one. Currently I am experimenting with the new generation Turtle Wax tire spray that uses graphine and other chemicals that create a shine, but don’t stay wet and have no schling. I don’t know if they work yet but the Maguires products work for a while
Appreciate the insight!
@@ShockWaveOffroad so backing up the reason why I’m visiting you is because I was curious about dawn power wash as a tire cleaner. The instructions for the new Turtle Wax graphine tire shine says thoroughly clean the wheels first. So last night I clean the tires with the power wash. Wow a lot of brown colored grime came off. I didn’t realize I had that much on the tire. My Fiat Cherokee stays on the road where it belongs so it doesn’t see any off-road dirt. The tires were cloudy, but black prior to application. This morning I went outside and the tires turned brown! I’ve never had that problem before. The only assumption is dawn power wash caused the brown antiozinant in the tire to bloom. Must be some chemical reaction. I had no idea. So I’m going back to just using the end of the car wash stuff. Also, I had treated one tire with the Turtle Wax graphine liquid. That did not turn brown. And it didn’t come off with two scrubbing. It was still there to some extent. So I think you’re going to like using that. It’s not a tire shine like we are used to. It’s dry to the touch, but still look shiny on the wheel. Anyways thanks for the videos. It’s a great way to learn things.
Nice Tip, and Happy Birthday!
Thanks, buddy!!🤘🏻
Try Turtles Wax Wheel and Tire cleaner. That stuff is the bomb with getting dirt off tires, right before some dressing.
May give it a try. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🤘🏻
I use black magic bleche-wite tire cleaner. I’ve purchased this at Advance Auto, AutoZone, Walmart.
Yeah, I've not personally had any luck with tire cleaners. Maybe I'll give it a try.👍🏻 Thanks for watching and the comment! 🤘🏻
Have you tried Bar Keepers Friend powder for the stains?
Nope. Never heard of it. Feels like there's a joke in there somewhere.🤔😂😂😂
I usually use dawn dish soap or the turtle wax car wash + a bristle brush and some Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care afterwards. Had good luck getting that red mud off here in NC.
I hadn't had much luck, until I tried this. Got several suggestions after this vid. May have to try them all and do a comparison. Damn, that means more wheelin!😂 Good thing URE opens in a month! Thanks for watching and the comment! 🤘🏻
@@ShockWaveOffroad Only a month to go! Means time for maintenance haha.
Bro! You ain't one of those ole boys who waits til the LAST minute, are you?????🧐
@@ShockWaveOffroad Usually day before we hit the trails LOL. Noticed a wet spot on my rear diff, good till I hear it screaming!
@@FantasticHunter 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤘🏻
Great video Clint! Thank you.
Thanks, Bob! Hope y'all are well!!🤘🏻
That's not even how you're supposed to use Dawn Powerwash. You might as well use Dawn dishsoap and a bucket at this point. You are supposed to spray it on, let it soak, then agitate.
How do you feel about the slabs in your opinion I'm new to the idea of beadlocks and wanting to go with soyderlocks and if you know they are more or less the same wheel minus the star bead "ring"
LOVE the slabs! I wanted Spyderlocks, but apparently it's extremely hard to find them in a 17 and 5 on 5 pattern.
Tmorris offroad has them in a 17x9.5 with 3.5 in of backspacing (or -38mm offset)
@David Twa Guess it's all in price, then. I'm happy with my slabs! I did a mounting video too if you wanna check it out!😁🤘🏻
When mine are really dirty and stained, I use purple power, works great for me so far
Thanks for the tip! At this point, I'm just trying to find SOMETHING that works, lol! I'm going to try some other stuff and do a comparison. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🤘🏻
@@ShockWaveOffroad super clean degreaser works well too, wont white out like purple power, available at autozone, advance, & walmart
@Mahendra Singh I've got Super Clean. May give it a try next time!🤘🏻
They layer of clay protects the rubber from sun rot
Yeah, I guess, TECHNICALLY there might be some validity in that comment. But, it just looks bad. Of course we all know how Bromance looks, so....😳
@@ShockWaveOffroad don’t you mall crawl shame me!
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😘
Last trip was 4 months ago? It’s just a decorative yard sculpture at that point? Isn’t it?🤣😂😝
Well, in MY defense....I don't have the luxury of vast amounts of wide open spaces like y'all do. Nor do we have the moderate weather. The closest place to wheel when Uwharrie is closed is about 4 hrs away, and though cold camping doesn't bother me, I'm not a fan of cold AND wet. Been there, done that. So, I GUESS we can call Napalm a yard ornament from Dec thru April.😂
@@ShockWaveOffroad ya I hear ya, we were out couple weeks ago in the 20’s brrr brought $100 of firewood and used every bit of it🤣 we would be up in the mountains doing some snow camping but the fire ban for dispersed camping is still in effect even though there is snow on the ground. You can have a fire in the pay camps with a metal ring is all.
Try one tire using Dawn Powerwash and one tire using Dawn Dishwash
You can try an Orbital Sander
Orbital sander! Hell, why not just use a grinder with a 40 grit flap disc?😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤘🏻
And that's not a nice thing to say about Em🤨
Uhhhh......???🤔🤔🤔
Comet
Ok, something I've not tried. I have a bunch of ideas now for a comparison video! Appreciate the tip. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🤘🏻
