@@chrisfix I just bought myself a Nissan Skyline ER34 GTT and unfortunately they're prone for having rust on the strut towers which mine unfortunately has but I have yet to know if it's only the top plate or if it's deeper, in order to restore the strut tower in the bay does a metal wire dremel such as the one you used in the video and sandpaper suffice? And I assume for sanding it would be working from a grittier grit to a softer grit? Thanks for your videos man as these are going to be extremely useful when my car arrives as it is in rough shape.

@@bobmill4824 The easiest way to spot a jackass on the Internet is when they use the word "genius".
They tell people not to clean the engine bay because most people do it by driving to the self-sever car wash, spraying the bay with soapy water, power washing the soap off, and then immediately driving it off. You may have missed it, but that's not what he's doing here. He's going out of his way to protect the electronics from high-pressure water. If the electronics were so sensitive that getting any water on them caused a problem, everybody's car would break down if they drove it in the rain.

Dude, my wife and I both tackled our 2015 V6 Mustang this after noon starting at like 3pm. We still weren't done after we lost sunlight. Had to resort to flashlights to attempt to finish the plastic protection and still was only able to half ass it until almost 8pm. Granted, the engine bay has never been cleaned, but it looked roughly as dirty as Chris's mustang, so I thought we would have similar results. While it does look ten times better than it did, it's still far from looking new. We're going to repeat the entire process again hopefully next weekend and bust out some cotton swabs because there are SO many hard to reach spots that seem impossible to get to even with wire brushes, pipe cleaners, a ton of soapy water, and detailing brushes.

Great job, with fantastic instructions and results! The only thing that would worry me is, when using just the brushes or microfiber wrapped brushes, and fishing them into the tight spaces, I would worry about loosening, not completely removing, wires and harnesses. Not being a big time car guy would mean that I wouldn’t know what things weren’t making the correct connections. So, I will have to be much more careful when getting into the small spaces, or mostly skip them. Either way, the engine compartment will look tons better! Thanks again.

I am a woman, but there is something so beautiful about keeping your car neat and clean even under the hood. I got lucky about 5 years ago and found a Toyota with less than 40k miles on it. After driving for 3 months when I check my oil.. it looked so clean that you could pour that oil into another car. I wouldn't without knowing if it's safe.. but that's how clean the oil runs through my car. I was used to driving older cars with black oil on the dip stick so I was obsessed with keeping my vehicle in the most prestine condition that I can manage.
The thing I love the most about my car is that all the parts are covered with caps and plastic protectors. I wipe everything off regularly just to keep everything looking new.
I saw a man pressure washing the leaves off in a car wash bay one day.. and I wasn't sure if I should do that with my car so I just used gloves and my hands and cleaned. I used a spray bottle and cloths .
Im happy that I found a video like this that goes in depth about every part. I strongly appreciate the preparation and detailing steps. Your voice is so engaging! 😊😊😊😊❤ Thxx

just picked up a 2000 Ranger with 225k miles on it. You can guess easily that majority of the parts needed replaced. But i snagged it for $800, and it ran, had a new timing belt, and some other new minor parts. watched some videos, replaced the entire front suspension due to rust and bad ball joints, new spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils, new exhaust due to the old one having holes through it, and a new power steering pump. It runs and rides great now!
Watched the coolant flush video, about to do that in the coming week, watching this video now to clean the engine bay because there's oil and dirt nearly everywhere, so I need to find leaks lol.

I wish @chrisfix showed the cleaning of the muddy truck’s engine bay and showed how to wash out the radiator and fans, etc. from caked on mud.

When I was younger and cared I used to keep the engine bay on my 67 Plymouth super clean. I also did all my own maintenance and repairs. When I got older I had a trusted mechanic do all the work on my car. Except for cleaning. But my mechanic told me not to clean the engine anymore. My now old car (not the Plymouth) sometimes leaked fluids and not super cleaning the engine made it easier to see the source of any leaks. And I wasn’t going to any more cruise nights and lifting the hood to show off my shiny engine.
