    I thought the comment by Chew that it's the first MeToo case that there's NO other MeToo that has come out of the woodwork was the nail in the coffin. Amber lied.

    ABUSE :
    1. A relationship needs to exist, its lengthiness is irrelevant. It can be a couple, a service being rendered, a work relationship, etc.
    2. To be considered an abuse, a benefit needs to exist for the abuser (eg. make someone feel bad so they cave in to your desires or make someone obey or respect you by using violent means (oral, physical, sexual,, etc).
    3. Repeated violent behaviors usually assure it is abuse, but it doesn't need to be repeated behavior to be abuse.
    Insulting someone, however creative and mean it is, DO NOT constitute abuse in itself. Depp NEVER abused Heard (according to evidences shown during trial). Amber Heard ABSOLUTELY DID abuse Depp as in almost every scenarios shown during trial she either benefited from the abuse or clearly tried to get something out of the abuse. Never did Depp ever tried to get something out of his rant and insults from Amber other than expressing his anger or sadness.
    If the jury have anywhere near average intelligence, they will know this and evaluate the case accordingly.

      Verbal abuse is a thing, but the only person witnessed committing physical abuse was Amber. All of her witnesses only repeated what she said. Considering all the people constantly present and how Johnny is used to having them there I fine it unlikely he wouldn't slip up in the middle of a drug fuel rant and slapped her at least once.

    Reading from the script is fine when it’s broadcasted to the entire world. In a small courtroom it’s ok to riff and have some mistakes, but the nerves of a global stage makes it the smartest move to have a tight script

    I'm not an American, English is not my first language. I have no interest in celebrities and their life style is annoying to me. I watched the trial because I was bored recovering in bed. I saw a scary woman, a pathological lier and developed sympathy for johnny depp for having to go through that. I cannot imagine how a jury sitting there and watching all the evidence won't see that. I really think Depp will win or it will be a hung jury. I can't imagine another outcome.
    At the beginning of the trial I thought Depp should lose. Then I thought he should win and be awarded a dollar. As the trial progressed I was invested and wanted him to get the whole amount. Now, if I was a jury I would argue for 57 million.

  • @ellenolson2462
    @ellenolson2462 Рік тому +34

    I think the jury will award Johnny 7M; that would basically send a message that they don’t think Amber derived anything from the marriage since that was the divorce settlement amount.

  • @therealdeal3672
    @therealdeal3672 Рік тому +67

    In the last couple of days of the trial, Rottenborn has been giving Amber some looks and looked at her with certain expressions, which to me, say that he doesn't believe his client anymore. And I think the same goes for Elaine. I think they have an inkling that Amber's been lying. Must be rough to end up sure that you've represented the wrong party. Obviously everyone deserves representation and they got paid well for the job and they did a good job. And the results remain to be seen. I just think it must be rough to give your heart and your all to a trial and decide in the end that your client is guilty even though you have to still defend them with the same vigor as if you had not come to that conclusion.

      Absolutely I noticed that too, only engaging AH when he has too.At the end of each day he makes certain that he is talking to other people so as to avoid talking to her. I feel sorry for the whole team saddled with such a liar

    • @therealdeal3672
      @therealdeal3672 Рік тому +5

      @@adelinediallo7775 no lawyer worth their salt will ever assume any case is going to be a cakewalk. They may take the approach that the opposing side has a difficult job to prove their case. Not all lawyers are completely mercenary. I actually believe that Rottenborn and Elaine really changed the way that they looked at Amber from beginning to the end of the trial. I actually believe they had faith in her at the start. And lost it in the end. I'm sure there are many mercenary attorneys. I just somehow think Elaine and Rottenborn were not those. After all, there were people on Amber's side in the very beginning. Now that percentage has dwindled to about 3%.

    • @AtsilaH
      @AtsilaH Рік тому +1

      Right? I know it's a defamation case, but at its heart, it's a case about domestic abuse. In my opinion, there's much that can and needs to be said about male victims of abuse and women who lie about being victims. Along with that, you have mental illness and substance use issues. I would hope that no one thinks this is just a "rich people and their problems" kind of case.

Only I say, 50 mil+ 17mil for the divorce + $1. The dollar as a slap in the face (since he never did it physically), so he can frame it and always remember the world believed him, and that telling his story gave him his good name back. I agree about the reading during closing arguments, bullet points is better. Now some people's memory isn't that great, especially during pressured moments, so they have to rely on notes. One good thing reading did, was keep Camille on track, which gave them another half hour for rebuttal. When you're speaking from memory, you can go off track in order to emphasize your points and lose time; that's what happened to Elaine. In the end Amber's team was left with 6 minutes for rebuttal.

I hope that true survivors of abuse will seek justice, and that this trial will bring dialogue about so many heroes of social justice who manage multiple presentations of BPD. Let the energy that this trial has awakened be directed not toward hate against perpetrators, but toward prevention of child abuse causing cycles of pain and violence.

    Some of the arguments I didn't like in closings:
    From JD side, the "All or nothing" argument felt a little bit forced to me, but I was ready to overlook it. I'm just saying my concentration wavered a bit at those points, because to me life doesn't really work like that. Maybe it's the way it was phrased.
    From AH side:
    - When they go "JD can't take responsibility and shifts blame", that may have been a good argument in a vacuum. But in the context of what I've seen in this trial, I immediately think about AH and immediately thing that this just doesn't apply to JD. He owned a lot of embarrassing facts in this trial, and the ONLY thing he outright denied were Molly texts. Maybe he just doesn't remember them, or maybe this piece of evidence is misrepresented, or maybe he even lies to protect himself. But that was the only time. He actually came off very responsible in this trial, and they try to make that argument? Please! And AH was an angel who never did anything wrong and never admitted to a single wrongdoing.
    - When they go "You saw her testify on the stand" - it just loses me completely. You really want to remind me of HER testimony several times in your closings? Even if I thought what you were talking just now was compelling, I immediately am awakened to the fact that no, I just can't line it up with that woman!
    - When Rottenborn says "She could have chopped his finger with an axe and it wouldn't matter in this trial" - I just... It loses me completely. Because no, it would very much matter, because we are deciding here who lies and who's the victim. The Defamation hinges on those things. And you're saying that it didn't matter if she was the abuser? Please!
    Are you really trying to argue that if she was the perpetrator but got hit or yelled at as a response she can go and write her Op-Ed? No, I say she can't!
    This argument loses me so badly.
    - And then they try to broaden the abuse to verbal, and I'm just not there. The entire trial we are discussing heinous physical and SA, and now you want to broaden that? Yes, for JD maybe it was abusive, because his physical part was not that major. But for AH she clearly argues about physical, and her Op Ed is clearly about physical, which Camille did a great job of establishing.
    Now you want to basically walk back and say "Yeah, AH lied in your face about SA and DV, but she was verbally abused!" That just didn't sit well with me at all. Yelling happens in context. You can make anyone upset enough to yell at you, especially when you don't let them escape. This is not abuse when it's reactionary.

      That's right .Her lawyers are just doing there job . They have no choice but to gaslight the jury.. but pffft.. that's actually very common to a losing client.. so I don't think the juries will fall for that. And that's true.. this about the Op-Ed she wrote. "I spoke about sexual violence and face our culture's wrath ..- that has to change " so yeah, they try to just broaden the meaning but.. she already admitted the OPed is about Johnny that statement she wrote.

    There is a great book we use in DV counseling . “Why does he do they” by Lundy Bancroft
    The truth is he did engage in “ reactive abuse” but reactive abuse is the limbic system’s response to relentless abuse .
    Her biggest crime is representing herself as representing abuse victims
    Those of us who have survived know it is just a mask she wears

      As a survivor, she triggers me so much. The malignant narcissism she displays gives me chills. It's hard to even look at her. We all know who did what in that court room. If there is a survivor in the jury, I hope they convey this during deliberations. Not many of us get to face our abusers and see justice done. It would be so cathartic to watch her get what she deserves and I don't care if that is spiteful.
