What’s worse is that there are absolutely people in prison throughout MA because of the corruption that multiple different agencies are known for. I had missed the live broadcast of one of the pre-trial hearings in this case. When I searched to watch the replay, among the results was a headline for Sean Ellis. Sean Ellis was wrongfully convicted of a crime (I’m drawing a blank on what specific crime) and spent 22 years in jail. He maintained his innocence the entire time and stood his ground that he was convicted due to corrupt law enforcement. In 2021 he finally proved what he had said all along. 2 Boston police officers have been convicted and are in prison and I believe the third was recently charged and is on the path to trial. I may have some of the specifics wrong, I haven’t been able to research it thoroughly, but the fact is he was wrongfully convicted due to 3 corrupt Boston police officers. Sadly, I’m sure there are a number of people in the same boat.

The prosecutor is doing nothing to establish a case against Read or obviously prep these witnesses or preempt the Defense’s game so the Defense is doing a masterful job at burring witnesses, making them look foolish and guilty, and really hasn’t even had to defend his client because the prosecution has lost steam to even prosecute Read anymore.

Lally said today that Katie McLaughlin claimed that Karen said "I hit him I hit him" AND that 2 other firefighters/paramedics (Nuttall and Flematti) said the same thing. What he failed to point out is that Katie testified that she (KATIE) TOLD the other 2 firefighters/paramedics IN THE AMBULANCE that she had heard Karen say this. Nuttall and Flematti may have thought they had heard it from KAREN but they actually heard it from KATIE. Nobody wrote this down so they have had to rely on memory, which often fails. And apparently, according to the Defense, we will hear from another witness in the days to come that Karen actually put it in the form of a question as in "DID I hit him? COULD I have hit him?"

None of the officer's said they heard KR say she "hit him", Katie said KR said it to the other woman, could Jen have said "did you hit him" first causing KR to question that? There's a lot of particular semantics being used by these witnesses, none of them seem to be able to answer directly. It's very odd.

great question/topic.... but occupants/premises liability requires, like any negligence claim, the usual four components of: duty, breach, causation, damages. Simply having a dead body on your lawn does not fit this requirement. One would have to show the duty of care was breached, and address causation and then, of course, damages. Now, you make a good point, because if this case ends up in a guilty verdict, you are absolutely correct that civil lawyers will be looking at culpability. Great post :)

I've been following this case for two years, since it happened. I actually grew up close by and I dont have any personal friendships with any of them but it's a small world and there are ties between them and some people involved. Before I had heard anything from anyone and prior to finding out there was a connection between people I know and some of them I came to a quick realization that this was indeed a frame job. Now two years later after digging in deep and knowing what they have as evidence and then what I've heard through others who know of this family and some others involved, I don't have a clue how this is in trail.

I hope the jury are waiting for this defence team and justice is served here but sadly, with the botched investigation, I doubt Officer O'Keffe will ever get justice.
