    When removing several of these ball joints I found the c-clamp had too much deflection and would bind the joint on the way out. I built a puller with two 1" plates with threaded rod on either end and a hole in the center of one for pin clearance. Tighten each side equally and hit the axle yoke/balljoint bore with hammer in-between each tightening. Always works for me on those stubborn BJs and never had a joint fuck the bore on the way out. Installed 2 sets of these emf joints on my personal truck and beat the shit outta them and they're like new. Thank you EMF crew

Additionally how high would you recommend getting the front end off the ground to get a good angle with the sledge? This is looking like a weekend driveway job I might need to build jacks for.

I think doing this yourself where you can use time and lots of penetrating oil would work better...may as well replace the axle seals while its apart. Wow was that the smoothest wheel bearing removal. Now does the puller usually do the job? I find especially on any truck that’s rusty with original wheel bearings after 200k I have to try everything. Try the power steering trick, air hammer, torches. It’s especially hard if you wanna save the bearing. You guys ever run into this ?

    • @EMFEVO
      @EMFEVO  4 роки тому +1

      We use the power steering truck but we've damaged the seat for the u joints on the axle ear on really ignorant bearings. The 13 and up is way easier than the 03 to 10. I like the actual puller. The three jaw works well and is more common in diy tool boxes. And the power steering truck works for everyone. You have to watch not to wreck the bearing with the puller.

    • @EMFEVO
      @EMFEVO  4 роки тому +3

      Kind of a waste of time. Put pressure on the clamp and hit it with a 3 pound hammer. Tighten the clamp and hit it again. It's the best way to ensure you don't damage the hole and it helps the joint go in straight. More effective than freezing is using a heat gun on the axle. It opens the hole more than freezing the joint shrinks the body.
