    I have a 2006 ram 2500. Installed EMF ball joints. Left side steering knuckle was tight. Released pressure in zirts , still stiff. Just purchased a steering knuckle. Nearly impossible to find online, I found one at a junkyard for 125.00. I’m very appreciative of your video as I would have put it back together with a stiff knuckle, just like the shop did 40k miles ago when they installed an offset ball joint that I just replaced. Very happy with the EMF joints and the videos to support installation.

    Thank you for this video. After installing ball joints 7 years ago I noticed that the driver side knuckle moved smoothly slightly stiff. The right side I could barely move the knuckle with both hands. I drove it like that for the last 7 years. The truck was always darting around on the back roads. Today after receiving my brand new knuckle I noticed that the old one did not move smoothly and seemed to bind. The new one is now instead and while slightly still it moves smoothly. The test drive was very nice minus the darting around. Thanks again.

    @EMF ROD ENDS & STEERING
    Very Informative Video!
    I have a question or two for you if you wouldn’t mind.

    So, 2007 3rd Gen Cummins 4x4
, 92K
    I threw everything I knew into the steering (including two separate alignments) but I ’m still experiencing “wandering”.

    Then I recently found a shop that specializes in off-road steering, suspension etc.

    After reviewing everything that has been done to the truck, inspecting and test driving it, the only thing they can figure is that the ball joints are the problem. They are referring to the issue as “Memory Steer”. I currently have low mileage Moog K7460 uppers and K7467 lowers.

    The shop is highly suggesting installing EMF’s instead and from my research, that definitely seems the way to go.

    However, I just reviewed a fairly new video here on UA-cam regarding the installation of "American Iron Dodge AAM Ball Joint Delete Kit".

    Any chance that I could get your honest opinion on why using this delete kit is a bad idea versus replacing those Moog’s with your EMF’s?

    Thanks much and again, thanks for the awesome videos.

    My 2000 1500 Ram front dana 44 knuckle has a similar problem. I could see the axle shaft was sitting high inside the tube. I made a tapered shim out a can of brake cleaner. It took a while but fitted perfectly and made a significant difference. It's not ideal but I live in England so my options are limited.

    Clayton you're a lifesaver. RAM has the weirdest cheapest parts on the most important things like the steering. Got a 2021 Power Wagon Molten Orange color. It has a hard right pull to it since 14k miles, and the big right wheel outer even has severe wear. I must have hit a pothole or something, maybe someone backed into my tire, I have no clue. What do you think is the cause? Going to get an apex track steering kit and CJC offroad lifetime ball joints. Plus a front track bar and Fox Steering stabilizer. Not doing much, but it's for my road safety pulling an 8klb RV trailer. ❤ But, what do you think is causing that Rt tire outer even severe wear and right-hand pull? I Heard RAM does this to some owners. Took it 5 times to the dealer, 2 alignments, but the issue wasn't solved. 😢 Ram folks say, okay and that's it. North Dallas Texas.

    I was exiting a local toll road about a year ago where 2 lanes merge into one where a toll booth used to be. I was in the right lane and a lady beside me in the left lane realized her lane was about to end and started moving over into my lane so I had to move right quickly to keep her from hitting my 4 WD 2005 Dodge 2500. I realized that my right tire was going to hit a curb so I slammed on the brakes and got slowed to about 40 mph before I hit it. My truck still drives straight at all speeds and doesn't pull either direction but the tire on the right side is wearing on the outside edge. I'm wondering now if the steering knuckle is bent. Can a steering steering knuckle be bent with a head on impact? I just found your UA-cam channel and love it!

    I remember there being some sort of aftermarket ball joint the guys were installing but it had a straight shank instead of the taper, so you had to bore out the taper in your ball joint that use them, I assume that's where some of these oversized ball joints are coming from as well

  • @davidanderson3999
    @davidanderson3999 2 роки тому

    The oversized knuckles,the ball join hole, the ball joint will fall right through, my 98V10 2500, when I replaced mine at 300,000 plus miles,had one out of speck for alignment, so I replaced al 4 top were right for Dana 60, the bottom ones fell right threw the hole, had to go to heavy truck shop they had the right ones on shelf,

    Valuable video, I learned so much. I am going to install these in a 2000 2500 Ram. I understand about eliminating all the other possibilities of steering and tracking issues with ball joints install. One that is on my mind a lot is the tracking bar attachment points on the frame. These are always egged out from the threads on the factory bolts. There's a fix a fella locally here in Idaho has come up with called the BOB or "big ol' bushing". What do you think about that procedure and bushing those attachment points interfacing the track bar and frame?

    I have a 2012 ram bighorn 2x4. Is there a difference between the knuckles on a 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive? I need to replace mine (part3 68044700), but it's hard to find. I was going to just get a Dorman 698-238 instead. The only difference I see is that mine doesn't need the front spindles hooked up. 🤔

    Very informative. I have a 13 2500 and got stuck in some mud and then drove after it sat with mud drying on wheels causing severe vibration. After cleaning wheels and hub assembly, most vibration went away but it’s definitely worse than before and just now noticed a leak on bottom driver side knuckle indicating axle seal. Diff fluid was just below or at bottom of hole within the spec level. Any thoughts on what I should hone in on?

    • @EMFEVO
      @EMFEVO  4 роки тому

      A leaky axle seal? Could be as simple as pulling the axle and removing debris that's wedged against the seal. But if you're going that far it might be safer to just change the seal. You should check and make sure there isn't water in the center section anyway.

    Aloha Clayton, we are gearing up to do this installation and as I shared with you my upper ball joints are currently the Moog off set non knurled, and the lower are Moog problem solvers knurled. I have a full set of EMF Oversized ready to install. The concern is pressing in those uppers as they are not knurled so the whole has not been stretched. Someone has suggested to freeze the ball joints so they will press in easier? What say you? i Thank You in advance for bearing with this hypochondriac!

    What are your recommendations for alignment shops typically? I find no matter who I go to they don't spend the time needed to make sure my alignment is dialed. Short of learning how and doing it myself I have to trust these guys took the time. Also do you have any recommendations for what ball joint tool you use? Standard canadian tire or do you find snap on has a nice setup. Thanks.

    • @EMFEVO
      @EMFEVO  4 роки тому +2

      Honestly I don't know. Typically ta shop has the least experienced mechanic in the rack. It's like a stepping stone. First you change tires then align and so on. I'd maybe look for a smaller shop that doesn't have 50 employees. The problem is nowadays people demand a lot from shops and want the work done cheap. At the same time shops have to pay large overhead and operational costs. So it creates a get it in get it out scenario. Which I'm finding is a big problem.

    • @EMFEVO
      @EMFEVO  4 роки тому +3

      I use a jet tools. If you're doing ball joints every day spend the money on a snap on or equivalent. Just for your stuff and a friend the ITC tools from Napa are fine. The key is to not power the joints into the knuckles. Tighten the clamp and give it a smack. Let the pressure and impact from the hammer do the work.

      @@EMFEVO So my next set of ball joints will not be moog then. Bad part is i have never worn out moog ball joints :( I found some tricks during the time i first replied till now to get them moog to loosen up. Half using your video but with some extra hammer work. Made this truck a hole lot better! It drove nearly perfect till i let a alignment shop have it and he bound up the dang ball joints again :( Also couldn't figure out how to drive a manual. He literally would rev the cummins up around 2500RPMs then slip the crap out of the clutch! He is lucky my clutch is made for slipping. Then shifting rev way up again and slip into the next gear. Time to do my own alignments all the way.
