Called EMF direct and was blown away that Clay picked up the phone and spent 15min explaining the other ball joint options and what made EMF joints what they are. Even though Clay was waiting on parts for a new run of joints for my truck, he pointed me to CJC to get what I needed without extra waiting.
I picked up a set of EMF's from CJC for a daily driver 2016 Ram 2500 4x4 (AEV Prospector XL conversion) with 40x13.50R17's. Pulled these apart and they're awesome.
For anyone installing EMF ball joints for the first time, I really recommend going over to EMF's channel and watching their install, greasing, and maintenance videos. The guys clearly communicate why a given process is needed, and what it accomplishes.
They're an awesome company to work with!
Never used dynatracs but used carli and currently emf. So far emf has been way better than carli. So much to the point where they don’t even compare. But this is just my experience. Nice vid 👍
Just got a set of EMF's from you guys. Can't wait to get them in. I like the idea of being able to rebuild them without having to press them out. Plus they are top quality.
isnt the Carli one same?
@@rootiest The Carli ones have to be removed for rebuild.
dynatrac are the ones where you can rebuild them on the truck, and the best ball joint you could buy.
@@Gramskee EMF has a race inside of them so when the pin wears it will wear the race and not the body of the joint. The dynatrac does not. If the dynatrac gets bad enough it will gall the inside of the housing and you will have to press new ones out and in. EMF race can be replaced while its still on the truck.
I own a GMC Canyon so there should be no reason for me to watch this channel. But you guys are really looking out for the best interest for your customers which you don’t see a lot these days. On that note I can’t stop watching your videos. Keep grinding!!
I just installed some EMFs I bought from you guys. The lack of hexnut on the bottom makes the install a ROYAL pain. They will spin on you when tightening. EMF does provide a video with some hints, however, their UA-cam channel videos are really terrible. A review like this should mention the lack of hexnut. I saved 260, but spent extra time under the truck. Other than that, they're super beefy and should last way longer than the stock ones. Glad the install is over 😁
If they spun while you were torquing the nut down then your bore is elongated and you need the oversized ones.
Should have mentioned EMF are also rebuildable on the truck just like Dynatrack.
What about the best ball joints for 1500 will those still work im redoing the whole front end and I want the best I can get
Thank you for the wisdom, Cody's know best!
'09 2500 Hemi
I drive on logging road everyday for work.
The truck probably see at least 50% off-road miles. (no jumps)
Will the EMF joints hold up?
They should, but with the hard use your truck is seeing, the lifetime warranty of the Carli joints might be a good fit too.
When I have to replace my ball joints in my 3500, I'll be doing the EMF as they are only 1 hour from me.
Looking to upgrade right off the bat, I have a brand new 2022 power wagon with 4000 miles 3000 of those with 37" KM3's on stock rims. That will change soon.
Just did one heck of an off road trip And The truck caught air to give you an example of Is what the truck will go through and why I need an upgrade. I'm going to need something alot tougher Then the stock joints.
I come from the Jeep world Where all my jeeps had or has Dana 60 crate Axles and I used Teraflex Ball joints With Moderate success, this truck obviously weighs 3 times more than any of my jeeps even
My J10.
Will these Carli oversized upper and lower joints, Be the best choice out there? and since we're spending 800 bucks on a set of uppers and lowers I'm looking for the best out there I don't want to rebuild these in 1 season, I want them to last, So price is not an issue Are these the best out there?
Believe it or not, the stock ball joints actually hold up half decent under the Power Wagons since they're lighter, but hard off road use absolutely takes its toll on them after a few years. We sell tons of options, but these Carli ball joints are truly the nicest out there for these Ram trucks. With proper maintenance greasing, you will never need to replace or change them for the life of the truck. if you do manage to damage them, Carli will send a fee replacement under warranty.
@@CJCOffRoad I will definitely look into ordering a pair! Do you by chance have the uppers and lowers in stock?
Even if the stocks last till next season I'd like to have them on hand when one goes and I can replace them all And be done with it
CJC killing it... Subscribed!
My carli ball joints didn't last. About to replace them, my third set of ball joints at 170k 2012 ram 3500. All road driving.
If you EVER have any issues with Carli ball joints, they offer a lifetime warranty: carlisuspension.com/warranty/
@@CJCOffRoad thanks. I'll be taking them up on that today.
EMF if going to be the best value in my personal opinion.
I like the EMF's
Moogs lasted 32000 miles and 1yr on my 07 3500 4x4..
Less than 12000 miles on the XRF balljoints and they are toast 2001 F350 7.3 Dually
For the Price and the Options, Oversized, Adjustable, Rebuildable, Don't Buy Anything Other Than EMF !!!, great Product, 100% Built In House the Guy that Invented & Builds them used to be Competitive King of Hammers Competitor
EMF ALL THE WAY
Plus Canadian Built
Great vid. Now can u do one on the free spin hub options? Thx in advance. 😀
I too would like to see a video on the Dynatrac Free Spin Hub kit
I am looking to replace ball joints on my 2004 ram 2500 5.9 . I go camping a lot and the roads in are extremely rough, which ballpoint do you recommend? Truck is lifted and on 35” tires
It just comes down to price! Carli and EMF are both the way to go.
I'm replacing my 2500s ball joints that have some up and down play no side to side . They have 199,989 miles on them . They are factory originals and have had 33s and 35s on them . Not saying that a joint like emf isn't better I have their joints with 3/4 thru bolts on the upper front control arms in my crawler they are nice joints , But the factory joints seem to last if you're not off roadimg the truck even on 35s
Will it fit on Dana 44 on 2gen Dodge Ram 1500 ?
Sadly no.
Do you sell ball joints for a 1996 ram 2500 4x4?
We do! We've sent out hundreds of sets of Dynatrac joints for 2nd gens and have never had a complaint! www.cjcoffroad.com/Dynatrac-Dodge-Ram-Dana-60-ProSteer-Ball-Joints-p/da60-2x3050-a.htm
Do you guys sell these for a 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4? Looks like it skips over 2000 to 2002 on your website
Hey guys I was hoping you could answer a question I have, I have a 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 truck. My tie rod was bent right in the middle, I heated it and was able to straighten it. I'm thinking I need to replace it but wanted your thoughts.
I would recommend replacing it when you can!
@@CJCOffRoad Thanks for your reply
Any time you bend metal that’s not designed to bend, it becomes weaker. And vending I back made it even more so. That’s why when you bend something that shouldn’t be, just be safe and replace it. Because if it bent in the first place, it will be easier to the next time and will be worse.
Could you please recommend ball joints for my 97 2500 12 valve. Lots of debate on forums. Really respect you. Please let me know! Thanks
Dynatrac is going to be the best joint you can put in that truck! www.cjcoffroad.com/Dynatrac-Dodge-Ram-Dana-60-ProSteer-Ball-Joints-p/da60-2x3050-a.htm
What would be the best option for plowing
The lifetime warranty Carli joints are an excellent choice for hard use situations like plowing as a result of their metal on metal design.
I have the Carlis in my 05 Ram 3500 with a 8.5 boss vplow. Truck drives like new. About to replace ujoints for the first tine since.
11 ram 3500 , ball joints u recommend...
Heavy pull every day..
If you want bulletproof Carli is the way to go. That said, all three shown are a huge step up from a typical parts store joint!
Will these fit 07 ram 1500 rwd 5.7 hemi ?
Nope, these are 2500/3500 4x4 only.
@@CJCOffRoad what would you recommend for me I don’t do off road much I may use it for towing later on a boat or jet skis but mostly highway driving should I just go oem ?
Do you recommend or know the best route I can go or would you recommend oem ball joints and upper arm
now I hear him say 3rd gen well these be good in a 2nd gen 1500
For a 4wd 2nd gen, you can run EMF or Dyntrac, but Carli are 03+ only.
Part #s for all 3?
The links are in the description!
More vids, More Rhino!
I have the dynatracs on a 2011 ram 3500 and had to rebuild them after about 110000 miles
Justin yoder How much is the cost of rebuild? Did you do it yourself? Was it difficult to do? Looking at putting some Dynatracs on my 2013 Ford F-250
That's pretty good, anything over 100k miles is just great!
@@JJMassar sorry just now saw your comment, I'm thinking it was a couple hundred to pay a shop to do it, he said it was a pain in the butt haha
Sorry but I would never pay that much on a ball joint all original on my 03 tahoe z71 and still going good with 250k km so just dont buy a dodge ram and you will be better of
Considering that the ball joints in this video are worth more than your vehicle, I think you're absolutely right! You are the smartest person you've ever seen in the mirror!
@@Rhinopkc lol I dont think the ball joint are worth more than my tahoe I'm in canada and the tahoe is hard to find I can easily sale for 12k $ and I have a 2018 tahoe but not as strong as the 2003 z71 yes maybe in the USA is worthless but not in canada where u can't find it all over the 03 got no rust no wear on the seats all the prints on the switches are still good all I'm saying is you pay 800$ for a ball joint and you won't keep the truck for 3 years the most is not worth it but if your planning to keep it until it's dead than yes it's good to get a 800$ball with life time warranty and the smart part yes thank you for reminding me
@Wisam Ben You just don't get it. You're commenting about ball joints for something that you don't own, and comparing your gasser SUV to a Diesel full-sized pickup. Furthermore, if you're claiming that you have 155000 miles on your original ball joints in a Chevy IFS, you're either driving it on the smoothest roads in the world, or you are ignoring worn parts until they're completely blown out. These parts are designed for hard use, oversized tires, and trucks with heavy Diesel engines. I know you're the authority on Tahoes, but this isn't a Tahoe video, so stay in your lane.
@@Rhinopkc I'm in farm land so no smooth roads here and no I'm not into Tahoes there just big inside I just gress all the joints each month to last a lifetime let's just stop with that and not go further with the comments if you want to pay 800+$ for a joint it's up to you that's all
Thats cuz you have a lightweight SUV... our trucks WORK for a living and weight nearly 1,000 kilos more in the front than your Tahoe, we have to have these better options to avoid the shortcomings of the factory design.
