    Watch Lilja Headspace accuracy testing video here: • .22LR HEADSPACE: How m...
    Video on how to install and headspace the Lilja here: • Video
    In this video we take the CZ 457 Varmint MTR rifle I personally use for PRS22 competition. We show accuracy out at 50 yards on paper with Wolf Match Extra Ammunition and talk about the rifle based on my personal experience. We shoot the Wolf Match Extra in our 50 yard stock match ammo test with a stock CZ 457 MTR with the Lilja match barrel installed.
    Benefits to the 457 MTR over a traditional 457 rifle is the Turkish walnut stock with plastic pillars as well as the very accurate match chamber barrel.

    Your shooting reveals the same issues I have while trying to wring the best accuracy out of my Savage 22--ammunition. One lot gives fantastic groups--same ammo--different lot--flyers everywhere. Consistent .22 ammo is hard to find with Eley Ten-X being the most consistent so far.

    I bought a ton of the original Wolf that came from the East German factory when it was first imported. It was outstanding ammo and shot lights out. The price at that time was $13 a brick. One of the guys I shoot benchrest with still uses it, having bought a massive amount. He wins... a lot. Now no one uses it because Eley has turned it into plinking ammo.

    I used to have a lot of wolf that would just flat out hammer 0.2-0.3" groups at 50rds. Wolf has been hit and miss, you either get a lot that's stupid good or has issues with fliers.

    Nice video, thank you. Maybe it was a bad lot of WE Match. Nonetheless, I have seen several videos with Lilja barrels and I have yet to see one that has been much different than the factory barrel in terms of group size. I just subscribed. You do a great job explaining variances in real world comparisons.

      Thanks Jeff. I have personally seen the lilja outperform my MTR barrels but it isn't a landslide victory. The CZ is nice enough factory that nothing will make enormous gains in my opinion.

      I have 6 czs and three are vpt mtrs and I don't think these aftermarket barrels shoot any better than the factory barrels I might be wrong but I don't think I could improve on the way my cz457s shoot mine shoots lights out all of them do.

      @@lewisrice3741 since my post above , I recently bought a Lilja for my CZ. Mostly because I wanted a longer barrel. The factory barrel was for sure a great shooting barrel . The Lilja is a little better , but let’s put it in perspective . Sk rifle match averaged 0.27” in my CZ factory barrel. The Lilja averages 0.21” with the same lot of ammo . Center x averaged 0.27” in my CZ barrel . It’s averaging 0.18” groups in the Lilja . The biggest difference is with sk+. Sk+ averaged 0.41” in the CZ barrel, and 0.31” in the Lilja . One thing noticeably different is the standard deviation of group sizes . The Lilja will shoot much more consistent group sizes . The difference between the maximum and minimum group size on the Lilja appears to be very little by comparison to the CZ . My CZ barrel is a 16.5” Varmint pro .Honestly , I was hoping the Lilja would be as good as the cz . Lewis, I gotta believe the mtr barrels will run with anything .

      Of course I listened to the rest of the video and noticed you heard the varying report as well. By the way I'm a pretty new subscriber to your channel and really like your stuff. I've been into long range Precision in the past but only recently have taken an interest in 22 long rifle Precision. It's a ton of fun, a little bit less expensive, and more compact in that the ranges aren't as extended.

  • @SR-jz6jh
    @SR-jz6jh 2 роки тому

    I've seen a lot of video's on different rimfire rifles and the CZ performs very well for the price, I'm looking to get a long range .22 in a good price range and I'm still undecided. What are your thoughts on the CZ barrels using two set screws to hold the barrel in place. I would prefer the barrel to be threaded into the action like the 452 was, I find it would be a better set up I'm not interested in swapping barrels out.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 роки тому

      The set screws havent been an issue but if you find you really like the barrel just epoxy it in.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  3 роки тому +1

      Not really with match ammo. Most the brass rims and priming is really consistent. I think with the wolf match extra it was just a lot of powder variance

    I know I have run this by you in the past but.....And yes, I know you have indicated its difficult to get a chronograph in the picture along with you and the target..........That being said, even if the viewers cannot see the chronograph, it would nice if you could verbally relate velocities when a shot is out of the group. I shoot my CZ always with the LabRadar along side the rifle. When I am shooting groups and a shot goes out (knowing it is not the nut behind the butt or the wind {as I always have at least one wind flag/daisy wheel}, 75% of the time, it is shot out of the normal velocity (for that ammo) that causes the flyer.
    And I know you have also indicated its hard to get wind flags in the picture however, it would be possible for you to have them present so you could comment effectively about both the wind and velocity in relation to accuracy.
    Along with your video where you were position shooting (in the snow), that was OK, but, it is more a testament to your ability and the conditions vs. the actually accuracy of the rifle and ammo?? Anyway, always enjoy your video's!

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 роки тому

      I plan on getting a lab radar when I can dig myself out of the hole a little bit to use on the channel.
