Today we have just a fun day out practicing. We try our hand at shooting eggs at 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards. I pit my CZ 457 VPT MTR against my buddies custom Vudoo V22 22lr.
Ammo was expended.............eggs were exploded......fun was definitely had!

Wow, two years later I finally came across this video…impressive to say the least. I must admit I am a CZ fan from way back. I do like what Vudoo has done for the industry and I hope CZ decides to make even more offerings and expand our market. Thank you for the great video.

I have been very impressed with your 400 yard challenge.
I got to stretch my CZ long range precision out to 400 yards and I hit a half steel plate 7 out of 10 rounds BOY was I happy.
That's nothing compared to a egg but for me it was unbelievable.
Thanks for showing what's possible with a 22lr.

You make a really good video. When you add your hold to the impact video, it really brings the shot into perspective. Brilliant use of what you have available. I'm picking up a lot watching how you guys shoot. I can't add anything to what you're shooting. You are really over the top on anything I could want to see. Next weekend, I'll bring out some 22 challenge targets from Mr. Revolver Guy for my daughter and I to play with. You all are making 22LR really fun to shoot.

II like what your doing here. In the process of teaching my son about the “ Realm “ of plinking. I thought the 2 eggs at 100yrd increments with shot count maxs was right on…. Keep putting content out there.. Up here in Minny we only get 5 mos window before we end up indoors shooting.. Smooth and steady.

Also; it would be cool to have some "indicating" target just behind the eggs, so that you, and we, could see impact points, kind of like having a shot caller...

Great shooting and content! It really shows how that CZ holds it's own at 1/2 the price of the Vudoo. Since you asked..... How about you borrow a Vudoo and do a side by side accuracy comparison of the Vudoo and your CZ at 50 and 200 yds with the same ammo and shooter on the same day.

Reminds having competition with my old Mossberg 22. We would set up these little gourds that were laying around that were about the size of an egg on Pepsi bottles about 50 to a 100 yards out and the trick was to shoot the gourd off the bottle without damaging the bottle. To make it more interesting you had to shoot free standing, no bench resting. It was amazing how accurate the rifle is, I mean it beat out the Ruger 10/22 even with a full barrel change. You could shoot sipping straws in half at 25 yards consistently.

Your buddy was leaning on the table for every shot, Josh. You (correctly) sat back for his. HUGE difference at these ranges when the primary support is the table. He could not have helped but move around or transmit nervous energy. The fact that you won is even more impressive given that issue. Just an observation.

I know someone who uses a Custom cz 455 from before who beats the Custom match annies just for the bragging rights and as a challenge in their precision matches. He owns Custom annies as well
Back then. He is very meticulous in his craft and uses every trick and the book though and can very much afford the best equipment as he buys Gun platforms and barrels in pairs or more, customizes and selects the best and sells the rest. He uses Beta blockers and shoots at his own time where he feels he would best perform. He is able to dictate this because he owns the range and he is almost always the principal sponsor of the match. This was about a decade or more ago when i was still active as a spectator on those events as i Scout around such events for Custom barrels or triggers as importing them is very expensive and is such a hassle where i come from. Would not be surprised if he now has a Custom cz 457 he uses to outshoot the vudoo again just for the heck of it as he most likely has a vudoo too.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  2 роки тому +2

Haha yeah its definitely possible. At a certain point once your gear is good enough it becomes more about the nut behind the trigger than the barrel in front of it

Every time I think Vudoo or Rimx or whatever, I find a video showing a CZ at half the price or less holding it's own. I'm pretty much convinced you need a straight barrel and a trigger that doesn't require yanking.

Nice video! I think that ballistics at 400 yards, kind of equivalent to .308 at 2000... in short, damn little chance of "one shot, one egg" ;-) but, incredible accuracy from these rifles at "real" ranges! CZ certainly holds up well. Can y'all give some mire details on the Vudoo spec's, and the ammunition you were using?

I like our Videos. CZ should be sponsoring you8:) Has anyone tried tensioning the lightweight factory CZ barrels?
I grew up in the 1950s shooting running Jackrabbits with 22 shorts. The winds were anything from calm to 35 mph. The lead, drop, and windage on a 29-grain bullet at a running rabbit at 125 yards are considerable. The bullets you were shooting in the video have 30 to 50% better BCs than the 29-grain bullet of 22 shorts, but a one mph change in a 90-degree crosswind moves the point of impact of the 22LR bullet with the best BC 3.6 inches at 400 yards. Using a more realistic BC of 0.138, a 1-mph change in wind speed moves the point of impact 5.3 inches at 400 yards, 3 inches at 300, and an egg missing 1.3 inches at 200 yards.
An egg is a 1/3d minute wide at 400 yards, while a one mph crosswind will move a 22LR bullet 1-1/3 minutes at 400 yards. No wonder it took a long time to kill the 400-yard eggs.

What would be even more impressive is to calculate wind, mirage, humidity, etc. without the use of electronic help, and then try hitting those eggs. Most old shooters, myself included-never had any of those advantages when shooting matches in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and we learned to dope the wind, mirage, etc. fairly accurately over years of practice.
