  • CZ 457 VARMINT MTR 22LR RIFLE Accuracy Testing
    In this video we take the CZ 457 Varmint MTR rifle I personally use for PRS22 competition. We show accuracy out at 211 yards on steel and talk about the rifle based on my personal experience.
    Benefits to the 457 MTR over a traditional 457 rifle is the Turkish walnut stock with plastic pillars as well as the very accurate match chamber barrel.

    Great video, thank you, Josh. This video was the deciding factor on my purchase of the Varmint MTR (as you have promoted in other videos). When I look for reference material to assist my decision making, this video is exactly what I look for. I may not achieve the same results as you did, but I have confidence in the rifle.

    Salut Josh,
    I really enjoyed your video. Your production values are high, which makes watching a pleasure not a chore. Shooting my CZ 457 MTR is for me the most relaxing and enjoyable of my small collection of CZ rimfire and centrefire rifles. I find the CZ 457 MTR’s features to be excellent as a bench rest rifle, and it has for me no issues so everything is stock.
    Regarding your range a few features stand out. The number of traversing ditches you must have crossed to tend to your targets would be a “boot camp” experience in itself, and at my age well beyond my capabilities. The trees must (if not now but when in leaf) provide quite a haven from windage issues. And the ability to sit on your decking and enjoy your passion must be so satisfying. I console myself re your accuracy over mine with the fact that I am (I would estimate) as old as your dad and then some.
    Bonne journée
    RB

    Love your videos! Given your obvious success with this rifle, would you be willing to precisely describe how you hold the rifle during your bench testing? It looks to me like you are not gripping much at all with your trigger hand, but maybe you're pulling the rifle back a bit into your shoulder? How much weight are you placing on the stock with your cheek? Are you pushing forward when using a bipod? Would you describe your technique as "free recoil"? Do you see any torqueing of the rifle in the scope when it goes off? Maybe a future video on this general topic would be popular!

      I just switched to the helos btr gen 2 4-20. It allows me to keep the rifle in production class fpr prs22. It had the athlon ares btr before that.
      My other 457 has the midas tac 6-24 on it.
      All 3 have been good optics. I prefer the helos btr gen 2 over all 3.

      Im syncing the cameras up manually and to whatever works out the best for the audio on both cameras. I try to get it close to real flight time but its also making the video longer to do that as well. The distance is in fact 211 yards from the shooting position to the target.

    Great shooting, you got yourself a real tack driver there . I found it interesting that the first 10 shot magazine warm up group out of a cold and I presume clean barrel shot to the same point of impact as the 2nd 10 shot magazine. Yesterday I asked X-ring what the difference in elevation is in inches of 25 fps between a group fired from a cold barrel and warmed up barrel would be at 100 Yards. X-ring said he can’t say about 100 Yards , but at 200 Yards he’s found the drop to be around 4 inches difference for only a 25 fps difference. It would be interesting to see what a difference of 25 fps be at 250 to 400 Yards . These are some of the distances we are starting to see at some 22LR PRS Matches .

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  3 роки тому +1

      The barrel was cold but it had been shot earlier that day with the same ammo.
      Sometimes i am adjusting windage and elevation between groups off camera to not make the video any longer than what they are already.
