I have the 16" MTR on mine, from the factory. all my groups at 50 yards are within 1/2 inch. the targets are 25 1/4 inch circles and I hit 15 to 23 of the circles with Eley. my dad used to say that "a good rooster can sing in any chicken coup." the length of the barrel is irrelevant if you know your windage and elevation. use the flags correctly and you'll get there

Love my CZ 457 vptmtr, the 16” barrel works well for me with the suppressor as it keeps the overall length in check. Also seems to get decent velocity out of standard velocity ammo. Targets out to 280 are no issue, trying further targets soon. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I don't really like to give out a whole lot of praise to people shooting 22s because over a lifetime of shooting it just varies so much but you're very good I love your attitude your calm demeanor and you're one of the only guys that doesn't blame something else when you know one whole one shot goes out of the hole you say I might have pulled it it's a flyer which is usually the truth and it's refreshing to see that and hear that

I just purchased a used 457 pro varmint with the 16.5 barrel. Like you I wasnt a fan of that barrel but liked the threaded barrel. This is not an MTR. A guy at the range told me to throw a Ultradyne Apollo Max on it and it would improve the groups. He runs the range and said he had seen other guys do it and tighten their groups. I just happened to have one laying around loose and put it on. I really dont know what the deal is but it tightened up the groups. I dont shoot exotic ammo like you do and was shooting CCI Standard and Federal Auto Match that day. MOA or less at 100. I will try the 50 next time out. Love your page

Beautiful rifle! Good shooting. I saw one a couple months ago, went back to really check it out, and the shop tried to push off the VPT Camo as an MTR. I wasn't buying it. Nice gun, but I wanted the Match chamber. I'm with you on the 16" barrel. I like an 18-20" for handling and velocity.
I managed to come across a CZ 457 Long Range Precision .22LR 20" Rifle. CZ-02380
It has the same Match chamber as the MTR. It's almost identical to the model sold in the UK less the big rubberized ball on the bolt handle and a muzzle brake. I really like the stock it comes in. It's not a Manners stock, but I believe it provides better options for the shooter; at least for me. And I'll probably get a 28 hole blued brake from Kidd to put on it.
    Happy shooting!

@@PursuitofAccuracy yes quiet is nice, I live in Canada and suppressors are illegal. And yeah the ballistics by the inch website shows some strange data where the same round will shoot slower out of a 17 inch barrel than a 16" but then also shoot faster from an 18" than a 17". I can attribute this to a final shockwave bouncing back from the chamber to the projectile around the 18" mark. But I'm not a scientist or a gunsmith haha. Either way, great videos dude. My favorite model 457 is the Jaguar. I’ve not shot any ammo it doesn’t like yet and I’ve shot some crappy blazer, federal champion, and winchesters. The 12 groove rifling of the jaguar just loves everything. Best match ammo I’ve shot is eley match 1050 speed and Lapua Midas+ 26 speed. Liked the forst one so much I now have 3 Jaguars and none of them are picky about ammo at all.

    • @charlesmiller2837

Every ammo has shot MOA or stupid sub MOA groups so far in the Jaguars I own. Best groupings were with eley match the 1051 fps lot. 5 consecutive groups under .2 . I Honestly think the jaguar is a hidden gem in the 457 lineup.

Between your mtr barrel with its preferred best ammo and the lilja barrel with it preferred best ammo at around 200yds, which is the better more accurate option? Switched to the 20" MTR barrel and my 50yard groups opened up a little to just under .400 but the 100 yard is better at 3/4" average with a few ammos. Its hard to say honestly. There are so many factors at that distance. Typically a vudoo or rimx do start pulling away at 200+ yards because of the controlled feed but the cz feed is so smooth im not sure how much gain there actually is.
I do plan on going vudoo vs cz at around 300 yards soon. Jons vudoo and his new ammo shoots the same SD my cz and its ammo shoots so i think thats the best way to test that.
