I Paid $75 for a BROKEN Xbox One X from eBay - Let's Try To Fix It! The Xbox One X didn't have any power and it turned out the ribbon cable for the power button was messed up. But that wasn't the only problem. There also was no display once I got the Xbox to turn on. I replaced the redriver chip and that fixed the display issue... but there was still another problem: an E106 error.

If you are still having this issue I just fixed mine. I removed the hdd from the xbox and hooked it up to my pc. Accessed the system update 1 partition and deleted all the files and reinstalled the hdd. Then took a flash drive (any drive over 8gb will work) and formatted that to NTFS and extracted OSU1 to it and inserted it into the USB port on the xbox. Booting the xbox by holding for 15 seconds, the bind button on the side and the eject button and pressing the power button. The console then fully went through with the system update. Afterwards i just had to redo the initial setup but all my games and saves were still there. Hope this helps someone else.

Some time ago, I've bought an "untested" lot of 4 Wiis with full sets of accessories (that's 10 Wiimotes, 4 nuchucks, 3 motion pluses, some other stuff like lots of silicone Wiimote cases, 2 Wii wheels, and stands)... that's from only 45 pounds from a person in UK (that's around 60 or so USD). Sure, some of those stuff was Chinese knockoffs, but most were genuine, and half of those were from a heavy smoker's home, and there were some battery covers missing... but aside from some corroded contacts in 3 Wiimotes everything just worked perfectly and even read the disk, left inside one of the consoles! I was shocked, because I expected the consoles to have some flaw in each, but instead I got 4 fully working consoles for the price of only one...

  • @TheCod3r

Great video Steve as always. One thing which might point you to the issue is either checking the log files on a computer or you can look at the percentage of the update. If the update fails at 72% you for sure have a disc drive issue, maybe a mismatch, faulty drive or Microsoft arm ic failure. 58%-59% is usually a hard drive formatting or partitioning issue, 1% is a software version mismatch and 0% is pure hard drive error. Thats based on my experience with these at least. Hopefully you revisit this issue in the future because it definitely isn't the disc drive at fault.
Also, check the mosfets around the hdd power connector and the hdd sata cable itself :)

Half a year or nine months ago I could get 120 to 150 Euros for a fixed PS4 (depending on the model) and could get broken consoles for 50 (fat) to 80 Euros (pro). Last week I sold a console I bought for 30 Euros as Buy It Now (not as auction, sorry, I don't know how that feature is named in English) without any info about what was defective and decided that I wouldn't try to fix it (turned out to be a WLOD, I am just not good at SMD soldering and I have the Switch board with a fused on HDMI chip to prove it), it sold for over 120 Euros.

I remember when I bought my Commodore 64 back in 2019. Originally I just wanted the case and keyboard and I'd install a modern C64 replacement inside (which needs the case and keyboard but adds an HDMI port). The computer I got was listed as non functional as is which sounded good. The computer was filthy (I'm ok with that) But what I noticed is that the case looked like it was more or less in good condition as was the keyboard. So I bought it. Then I'm like.........oh crap what if it gets screwed in shipping! Well the person I bought it from on eBay did a FANTASTIC job with the packaging and even did his best to ensure the original box from the 1980's would arrive in good condition. Ultimately I decided to fix it up rather than replace the board. It works great, it looks great. After I cleaned it up, it looks PRISTINE! I'm so happy they did such a good job with getting it ready for shipping. I've seen so many videos on youtube where the guy gets it open and the C64 case is shattered from shipping. I wish I could have given them like a 2000% positive review for that alone. lol

I actually ended up removing my case on my Xbox series X. I put it on some plywood and wrapt some chicken wire around the top of it prevent EMF.
I then added some nice fans all around it, and it runs amazingly quiet and cool.

    Very nice video.
I have a question. I'm working on a portable PS4 Slim (like a big Nintendo Switch) and I just now realized something I should have checked waaaay earlier: Will a PS4 boot and run without a BD drive connected to the motherboard? Due to obvious reasons I can't fit a BD drive into a portable device.
I've seen plenty of PS4 mods where they put the motherboard into a PC case, but I'm not sure as to what they did with the BD drive ATM. I think it should work, but I'd like to know for sure from an actual expert.

I have an original launch xbox one and I think the hdmi chip is the problem but for the life of me I cannot find it on the board. All the traces that come off the hdmi ports seem to go to the apu or memory area.. do you know where that chip is? Every video I watch on youtube is either for the xbox one x or the xbox one S. Please help?

Awesome job man. Hey I’ve been having the same problem with my Xbox one x. I’ve tried everything you have tried maybe even more. I’ve tried 2 different good hdd’s and one ssd. I’ve even hooked them up to my computer and created the partitions needed. I’ve tried to run them with the offline system update and I’ve tried to run them having the system updates pre-installed on the hdd’s and ssd. I’m hoping you have found a fix for them.

Ive seen near the end that you get the e100 while trying to update.
Check the error log on the hdd out (you can connect the hdd to a pc).
Most likely issue is that the update is not able to flash the disc drive.
Try a normal sata pc cable and clean the sata connectors.

Luckily my interior lights replacement went good on the next try.

@@Tronicsfix Im curious how long it actually took you on that project total and then to clean flux, remove and seat in that HDMI chip? Even for a professional its 3 or so hours worth of work. lets say your average pay is low like $65 an hour. an Xbox one X is like $300. Its tough to justify that. Love the channel, I was just thinking this video was a really good example of like "hey do this as a hobby, do not go all in and not expect to get rich repairing electronics.". I do repairs for CRTs and old gaming stuff and it was a hard lesson for me how costly the hobby can be.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  3 роки тому +1

It can be a difficult business. The best way to make money would be to start a repair business where you fix for other people BUT you have to be extremely good before you should start trying to fix other people's stuff. That being said you can make it work just by buying, fixing and reselling...it's just more difficult. If you learn how to repair one system and you can fix almost any problem and do it quickly you can make it work.
