Yes, Alex is totally right. The chorus wore the same hat as a tribute, too. It's awesome who all was there in terms of celebrities and musicians. Shane Fontayne was the guitar soloist, too. I think he was the "house" soloist.
Yes that's what made the whole ending so beautiful that choir were all wearing bowler hats in tribute to John Bonham if you didn't get chills up your spine from watching that you never will in your life
While you both quite rightly rated this a “10”, disappointingly neither of you acknowledged Ann Wilson’s superb voice nor Nancy’s opening guitar playing, only going on about Led Zeppelin. It was a Heart performance, not Led Zep!, so in my view, you scored low for this reaction.
Heard Plant on Stern, Plant said right before this song he turned to Page and said " We should have invited Jason to this" Then Jason came out with the band and pointed to them in the balcony, Jason had kept his performance a secret from them! Total surprise for them!

Every single person was remembering where they were when that song came out. For me, it was high school. It would be playing on the SF radio station in the morning on the way to school and you could hear it cranked up, coming from everyone’s cars.
Robert got tears in eyes at the end. That gives you chills watching it. Ann Wilson is amazing and so is the dude shredding the solo right in front of Jimmy Page. He had one job to do and he did it.
Watching the whole performance, looked like he teared up when he saw all those bowler hats on the choir. He and Bonham were like brothers. So wonderful he was included in that way. Greatest drummer of all time, my opinion.

Also, apparently they didn't know Jason would be playing that night at the Kennedy so that's why they were so happy and surprised.

Can you imagine having to play that amazing guitar solo in front of the guy who originated it?? Oh man... I'd be praying, "Please please don't let me fuck this up!" And this whole performance was GOLD. Ann's voice, the guitar, the horns, the choir, the drums... all of it. Just pure fire. I love it. If you didn't rate it an S tier 10 out of 10, I think I would have reached through my computer screen to slap you both upside the head, lol! It's just SO FREAKING GOOD! I could listen to this (and watch it) over and over again. Thanks for reacting to it! ❤🎸🎵🎶🎤
This tribute is in the running for the absolute best moment in rock history. Dieties, audience and performers are one, with each lift in the music ascending higher, finding the sweetest spot in the human soul, everyone radiating to everyone else "yes, this is it, this perfection is real." What seals the deal is if this much spirit and energy was put into any other song, the song would feel small, too weak, not up to the moment. Instead this performance rises and expands, never even close to limiting the ecstasy of the moment. If JP, RP & JPJ ever asked "what do our lives mean?" they got their answer in full this night. You can see it on their faces.
Simply put The Greatest Cover of all time, with the pressure the "Heart" Girls and the band and all involved had on them they nailed it!!!!!!,,Keep Strong Keep Safe
Every time you guys close your eyes I’m like no open your eyes and watch what’s going on because the reactions of the band and of the people in the audience my favorite one is when it hits Bonnie Raitt and she’s just rocking out is amazing. But definitely watch the whole thing because you stopped it before they were all pointing at each other and giving love to each other that’s a great part of it also
It should also be noted that Jason was playing his dad's old acrylic Ludwig drum set. In the late1960s and early 70s I had a couple of Ludwig drum kits and loved them. I wish that I still had them.
I grew up in a time when this song was way overplayed on the radio. This tribute re-energized my love for this song, especially seeing Led Zeppelin's reaction to it!
Yes...a year later I see your comment and must say...I used to despise Stairway to Heaven back in the day...when I was 15...because the radio DJ's annihilated it, which killed it for me....UNTIL I saw this incredible cover in 2013, the night before flying across the country because my sister was dying. It is forever her song to me now...I sat in my little motel room singing this to myself over and over and over...my sister WAS the lady buying a stairway to heaven...or so she seemed to believe in life...and now she was headed there, full steam. I adore this...Ann and Nancy and Jason, John's son, playing after his father died, and Robert watching with tears welling up...well, there's nothing like this recording in the history of rock n roll!!!
I love watching Plant, Page and Jones smiling and reacting so positively to this performance. So gracious. I've seen this so many time before on UA-cam and can't tell y'all how glad I am you're using to react to here (even if suggested over and over).
Good call on the John Bonham connection. The bowler, the heart fist pump and heavenly glance plus the choral groups bowlers were the "nod". Sublime version and, I believe the best cover I can remember. I watch this at least once a week.
The drummer was Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son. I remember him having a full drum kit when he was 5. His dad was a family friend and I remember going to a party at his house when I was a kid. It would be great if you could react to the original version of this. Jason Bonham had been asked by Jimmy Page and the rest of the band to sit and watch the tribute but he said that he couldn't because he was playing at a gig.

It`s like Neil Young said "Rock n Roll can never die" especially when we have people like you to keep it going. Great job guys.
I just loved the guys' appreciation for all the details here, but how much did you love the Director for knowing to cut straight to Page throughout the guitar solo? I was waiting for it, and at the first cut I actually screamed out loud, like my team scored the game-winner in overtime! LOL.

That was Jason Bonham at the drums. That was John Bonhams son. Pretty phenomenal job done by heart and the orchestra behind it in the back up singers. That was high class all the way especially in front of Robert Plant and Jimmy page. They were ecstatic

THE MOST INCREDIBLE cover of any song EVER! Those who heard this in person have been talking about it still. As great as LZ was in the day this is the perfect version
You should have watched the whole applause section. When Robert Plant stood up Jason Bonham stood up and they pointed to each other. Robert did not know he was going to be on the drums that night. I cry every time I see this. Robert also was moved to tears if you look closely.
My birthday too! I know very few on that day. Weather always perfect: I love this day. I love led zep. Saw them in the 70s. Happy birthday, to you, jgs.
you know...every time I watch this performance someone goes and starts peeling onions. anyone who is not touched by this important piece of art is dead inside
This diamond of a song! Watching Jimmy Page portray the professor with his young protege. JPJ “listening very hard” with eyes closed. The synchronization of the guitarists. “There’s a feeling I get when I look to the West.” The choir. “To be a rock and not to roll.” Robert’s tears. Perfection.
I'm so glad to see you guys check this one out. This performance gives me goosebumps every single time. It's just a spectacular performance - vocals are tremendous!
And played the old drumkit with John Bonham... with the 3 circles. In '73... (my first concert ! I was 14 !) ... had ZoSo, and JPJones (had odd triangles). Zeppelin in Mon. and Fri. (They did 2 concerts in Vancouver.) Then Zeppelin at Seattle Coliseum... then the Kingdome. Front row, all times. ;-)
If you haven't looked around for Kennedy Center Honors clips from over the years, it's well worth your while, but this is probably the greatest single performance that event has ever seen. I've watched this so many times, and I always think: "At some point, this won't affect me as much, just because I've seen it so many times"...I still tear up every time...
The way that the band members up in the balcony reacted to their own song---- tearing-up, and at times laughing in disbelief, at how epic of a job Heart was doing--- is the best compliment that Heart could ever get. It was almost as if Zeppelin was hearing it for the first time. That was a mind blowing performance.

One with God we are all...together again.
Page was loving watching someone do his bit so beautifully!
Love that split second when you see Yo Yo Ma get into the Groove.
Every time you guys close your eyes I’m like no open your eyes and watch what’s going on because the reactions of the band and of the people in the audience my favorite one is when it hits Bonnie Raitt and she’s just rocking out is amazing. But definitely watch the whole thing because you stopped it before they were all pointing at each other and giving love to each other that’s a great part of it also
I thought the same thing, open your eyes.
It should also be noted that Jason was playing his dad's old acrylic Ludwig drum set. In the late1960s and early 70s I had a couple of Ludwig drum kits and loved them. I wish that I still had them.
no one does a better cover than Heart. Guitarist Shane Fontayne. played with Springsteen, Sting, Rod Stewart and a ton of other bands.
I had been wondering who the guitarist was - thanks for posting it !
Jimmy Page has definitely gave him his seal of approval 👍.
Jason Bonham on drums. John's son. Perfection!
I've watched this a thousand times. It never gets old.
This was a fantastic tribute from the Wilson sisters, wonderful!
This performance set the all time record for goosebumps
The drummer was Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son. I remember him having a full drum kit when he was 5. His dad was a family friend and I remember going to a party at his house when I was a kid. It would be great if you could react to the original version of this. Jason Bonham had been asked by Jimmy Page and the rest of the band to sit and watch the tribute but he said that he couldn't because he was playing at a gig.
Do you come from Redditch, John's home town? I do to. Small world!
@@christinerobinson3819 I come from Lickey End, nr Bromsgrove. My dad used to repair their vehicles until my dad had a life changing car accident.
@@denisemeredith2436 yes I know Lickey End. Been a few times to see Fred Zeppelin(LZ tribute band)at the social club. I'm so sorry about your dad.....hope he's going on ok
@@christinerobinson3819 Thanks I have seen Fred Zeppelin a few times and sometimes Jason plays drums for them. My dad became an Operating Department Practitioner (a complete change from being a mechanic), he passed away 6 years' ago aged 80 from COPD and Pneumonia. Thank you for asking though.
Jesus. Sitting here crying. Simply amazing. And you can tell Jimmy loved it. Just amazing.
The whole choir wearing the bowler hats gets me everytime 😂 Also, how good a lead guitarist do you have to be to do that solo in front of Jimmy Page?
So glad you listened to this performance. It was incredible and clearly emotional for the guys.
The extended video shows Plant wiping away tears....that’s good stuff!
I love the extended version. It's almost 8 minutes long.
Thanks, I wondered what happened.
One of the best covers ever done by any band anywhere. I also think it`s really great to see two young guys like yourselves actually listening and carrying on with the music that we grew up with. It`s like Neil Young said "Rock n Roll can never die" especially when we have people like you to keep it going. Great job guys.
I thought I would hate a tribute
This was good, and that guitar solo immaculate.Page was playing every note.
I just loved the guys' appreciation for all the details here, but how much did you love the Director for knowing to cut straight to Page throughout the guitar solo? I was waiting for it, and at the first cut I actually screamed out loud, like my team scored the game-winner in overtime! LOL.
I am always captivated by the sheer joy of the Zeppelin band members and the tears in Robert Plant’s eyes as they watch this performance.
I lost it when the choir chimed. Goose bumps every time!
I worked for Roger Fisher (asst. tech guitar)... 40 years ago.
Dammit, there was a tech tour in the north... horrible in winter.
Then in summer... had warped guitars.
Finally ! They did summer in the north, and winter in the south. Whew ! ;-)
Heart played this live in their own tour, and even without a lot of the supporting artists there in Charlotte, NC, it was a fantastic experience! 10/10.
I can’t’ believe that you guys have not seen or heard this legendary performance before!Put this in a time capsule so when future generations want to know what rock ‘n Roll was all about this is all they will need!👍🏻❤️☮️🎤🎼🎸
Watched this as part of your classic "drunk reaction" months ago, in your beginning days. So glad you clipped it out because this definitely stands alone as simply amazing. The Wilson sisters are so gifted and Jason Bonham on the drums, epic! Thanks for this!
The song, video and performance were amazing. The reaction sucked! Couple of drunk, clueless mouth-breathers with their eyes closed not even watching the performance!
@@trucolors9809 C'mon now, no need to be so harsh. This was in their beginning stages of their reaction channel and I don't think they do the "drunk reactions" any longer. These guys are my favorites because they DO know music and performance.
I love Heart ❤️ seen them 4 times live. What a great cover not many people could ever cover LZ. Love your reaction videos ❤️ Keep up all your great work ❤️
Zeppelin were probably just glad to have somebody else sing it for a change. Seriously though, Heart did an amazing job.
I get emotional watching this version and to see Robert Plant with a tear in his eye at the end just tops it off. Phenomenal ending too, pure joy.
That was Jason Bonham at the drums. That was John Bonhams son. Pretty phenomenal job done by heart and the orchestra behind it in the back up singers. That was high class all the way especially in front of Robert Plant and Jimmy page. They were ecstatic
Dont forget john paul jones as he was the glue and brains behind the band so overlooked which is a shame.
@@H4CK61 he played the recorders at the beginning in the original studio version. How cool is that?
Red_ Rocker - Did you overlook John Paul Jones? So many do 🤷🏽♂️
@@H4CK61 Jones may be my second favorite bassist of all time. Steve Harris is my personal number 1. Again all imo
I've seen this at least a dozen times and every time I have goose bumps on my arms and chills down my spine. Then you see a tear drop running down Robert Plants cheek.
Page, Plant, and Jones. Their eyes have seen so much.
And they were all blown away that something new and great popped up!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! You know this was an awesome night to be President!
Dudes, I cried the first time I saw this live tribute. Just incredible.
that performance was the best ever , it was , dare I say , spiritual .
As a drummer am honored to share a Birthday with the late
"John Henry Bonham" May 31.
I'm not worthy.!! 😅
My birthday too! I know very few on that day. Weather always perfect: I love this day. I love led zep. Saw them in the 70s. Happy birthday, to you, jgs.
@@foxandscout Hey fellow Gemini, Did you know it was Bonham's B- Day as well?
@@jgsrhythm100 I didn’t until you mentioned it! I’m so honored....
you know...every time I watch this performance someone goes and starts peeling onions.
anyone who is not touched by this important piece of art is dead inside
Chokes me up every time I see this. Wife came into the room and I had to pretend I had a contact lens problem.
Perfection.
My favorite moment was your immediate reaction to Spirit of Radio by Rush. The looks on your faces, and instantaneous "10" was priceless.
Lots of great female vocalists in rock n roll. For my money Ann Wilson stands at the top of the heap.
I knew you guys had already reacted to this! People have been requesting it and I'm thinking, didn't they do this already? Thanks for the re-post!
I would rate Ann as one of the best singers of the twentieth century, no doubt!!
I'm so glad to see you guys check this one out. This performance gives me goosebumps every single time. It's just a spectacular performance - vocals are tremendous!
Oh Good. Your watching the video. The reaction by Robert Plant especially, moves me to tears every time.
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Nora Jones doing "Maybe I'm Amazed" in front of Paul McCartney. Worth it.
Yes, that was Jason Bonham and the bowler hat was in his Dad’s honor. He said he would only do it if Heart sang it.
y favorite part is Yo Yo Mah rockin out. I love this version, great musicians and arrangement. Great tribute to one of ROCK's greatest songs
And played the old drumkit with John Bonham... with the 3 circles.
In '73... (my first concert ! I was 14 !) ... had ZoSo, and JPJones (had odd triangles).
Zeppelin in Mon. and Fri. (They did 2 concerts in Vancouver.)
Then Zeppelin at Seattle Coliseum... then the Kingdome.
Stephen Tyler did a great job honoring Paul McCartney. I watch it often. It gives me goosebumps!
This same night also featured Beth Hart giving tribute to Buddy Guy. Also one one of my favorites. What a night.
You had asked for a favorite reaction. 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago. One of my fav bands and Andy was blown away by the " love song band" both of your shocked reactions were great. Got me to subscribe. Alex still owes us a karaoke of 30 days in the hole.
I was a junior in HS when this masterpiece was given to the world. The song will posses you. It engulfed me and Heart brought it back to my soul. I'm cryin'. Forever grateful.
This chokes me up every time!♥️👍🔥
Q: How many times can this performance completely slay me?
A: Yes.
@@joeday4293 I could POSSIBLY not weep if I made sure to not look at Plant at any time!😉
There are certain songs that just cannot be Covered, but in a rare occasion, someone takes one of these songs and does an amazing cover.
This is one of those rare instances.
Heart did a Phenomenal job.
( Even Lead Zeppelin gave them a standing ovation).
📻🙂❗️
