Anne was 62 at the time of this performance, and she went in with no idea that the band had specifically chosen Heart for this song. She thought it would be one of Heart's staple Zeppelin covers. They put this magnificence together with two 30 minute rehearsals.
You need to dive into spme of HEART'S songs..."Barracuda","Magic Man", "Crazy On You" to start..They have alot of great songs..They have been called "Little Led Zep" from when they started out in the early 70's they covered alot of Zeppelin's songs...And yes many of them are up here on UA-cam...
This is the singer for the band Heart, definitely check out their hits from the 70’s. Ann and Nancy Wilson are amazing song writers and their band Heart was very influential
The drummer, Jason Bonham, is the son of the late John Bonham, the band's drummer. Check out the benefit concert video they did together in 2007 called Celebration Day.
Ann, now in her early 70s, just did a duet with David Draiman on Disturbed's album, "Divisive." I believe it is the first time they have ever invited anyone outside the band to sing on an album. Her voice is different now than it was in this performance, huskier, but maybe even warmer. It ages like fine wine! You should check out some of the stuff from early in their career to hear her voice at its greatest range. It doesn't matter that she doesn't sound like she did in her 20s, but you have to appreciate her voice in every decade as it changes. She is simply stunning. Go for "Barracuda," or "Alone" for some of the big belting notes, but there are so many hits!
Anne Wilson said in an interview that the whole ensemble only had a 1 or 1 1/2 hour rehearsal together right before the performance. This wasn’t a performance, it was an event. You really need to check out Heart.
Fil, damn right, Ann's voice is powerful, warm and (yes) caressing. This performance, as you see by the faces of the remaining members of Led Zeppelin, was a worthy tribute. Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham RIP - Led's drummer) is the drummer on this. #QcumberSquad #Heart - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
Heart has been a power house in the music industry themselves, they were formed in 1973 iirc, I remember them mostly from the mid 80s to early 90s where they had some major hits.
No matter how many times I hear this, I still get teary. And then to watch the Legends that are Paige, Plant, and JPJ take in this beautiful performance is just chef's kiss! I had the privilege of seeing Paige and Plant live touring with Jason Bonham when I was in college. I was awestruck. How fortunate I was. Zeppelin was my first love before TOP. Every track, every album. ❤ Thank you for adding this in. And thanks, Fil, for your eclectic approach to sharing music with us. Lovin it!
Brilliant. To see Robert Plant and Jimmy Page getting teary you know they approve. Years ago an album was released called The money or the gun, stairways to heaven. It was 26 different versions of the song.
The story goes, Jason was invited by the band to come see the performance, and he told them that he had other obligations. So, when Jason’s name was announced, it was a huge surprise to the band members because the previous obligation that he had was to perform in this tribute.
She muffs they lyrics on "the pipers calling you to join him" and I've never seen anyone mention it. It sounds like she was about to jump ahead to "your stairway lies..." but caught herself in time to get half the line right. But she clearly didn't sing "The piper". This is such a great performance overall that I guess people don't notice it, but to me it's extremely obvious.
I didnt know his name but when I looked him up hes much older now. I know its been 12 years but still.. .. I was thinking he looked like Sheldon from big bang theory 😊

By far ..the greatest cover in the history of music
Tribute
Don't know if this was mentioned, but Ann Wilson was 62 years old at the time of this tribute, AND she was fighting the flu. What a set of pipes!

You forgot These Dreams which features the underrated Nancy Wilson on vocals
No matter how many times I hear this, it still leaves me awestruck.
The drummer is the original drummer’s son.

An epic performance to a legendary song =)
Look at Robert...JPJ and Jimmy! And Jason Bonham on drums! Heart Wilson sisters are amazing! Watch Heart do The Battle Of Evermore live...magnificent!
I can barely see the performance. Is there some copyright thing that it has to be tiny?

Oh, loving your new profile picture. 'The Move' Tom's mixtape.

the whole tribute is great. Foo Fighters,Lenny Kravitz and Kid Rock all nail it, with Jack Black doing a great retrospective as emcee. with a reaction

Can you imagine playing the iconic guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page himself?
Ooooooo!! I was gonna do that!!😂
Oops beat you to it 😊
@@IamSammy1 that does not sound like an apology Sammy!!!!!
@@sonjacarlyle5341 it wasn’t supposed to sound like an apology 😂😂
Oi! This mama can kick ass, be careful! 😂😂
@@sonjacarlyle5341 😂 I’m really in trouble now
I think I need to start clearing my choices with the qcumber squad 😂
And then you learn she was sick when she performed this. Amazing.
❤😊

Let me know, thanks. He and Rob Mathes are so amazing as well as Kenny on drums.
I was watching this video and my wife walked up. She said she wants to give you a foot massage, and apparently is ready to leave me. Gee thanks! 😉
😂 the fact that you posted this message on behalf of your wife I'd tell your wife she already has a keeper. 😊
Read much? It's Bonham not Bowman.
