HOW COULD I WORK WITHOUT THIS THING | Digital Height Gauge

- I always wanted to make a Digital Height Gauge for my router table. I used a digital calliper to realize this project. I also used just scrap pieces of plywood to build this Digital Height Gauge. It is really flexible in use. I can use it in various ways, it stands without holding it, and it fits in my router bit cabinet.

Undoubtedly the most underrated woodworking channel on UA-cam. Another new UK subscriber here. 👍
Thank you so much. I'm glad to read that. I really appreciate that.
very nice built
you are a big maker
It is more about doing what you like rather than wasting your time I think you're projects are awesome!!!
Your first “Like”. Wow. This thing looks really valuable.
Thanks!
very cool and useable. like the third leg removable, makes it more versatile.
Great work as always. Removable rear leg is a brilliant idea. Thank you. 🇦🇺
Thanks man!
Genius, pure Genius!
Very nice, Thank you
Very versatile tool indeed.
Now that is awesome. I am going to use that one. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
You sir are an absolute genius, your projects are amazing and so useful, if I could get to be half as good as you I'd be happy and very skilled.
Outstanding design for utility, & also way cool with the rocket ship legs
Thanks!
Nice, smart man.
Pretty slick sir, you certainly have the talents. Thanks for the great video.
Thank you. I really appreciate that.
Great design and build! Loving your channel!
Thank you. I'm glad if you like it.
Super gemacht! 👏🏻👏🏻
Danke
Thanks for sharing this great tool design. I understand the reason for free-sliding aspect of the tool. Do you find that the DRO stays calibrated and produces repeatable measurements over time?
Super idea, well made.
Thank you!
Very nice, great tool
Thanks
What to say... I'll copy it as soon as possible!!
I like this, may try to make one out of a old gauge I have laying around. Thank you for your videos!
LLAP
Thanks! I'm glad if you like it.
Just found your channel. Subscribed after watching two videos. I'm building a new shop from scratch and from the titles I see, will find your videos very useful.
Thank you so much
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice build!
Thanks!
Nice !!!! I want one!!!!
Thank you
It's a very good job and a good idee
Thank you!
Excellente idée et très bien réalisé.
Bravo !
En plus, les petites pauses dans la vidéo permettent de mieux comprendre l'avancement du projet.... même si le début est encore trop rapide..
Mais je reste toujours aussi fan !
Bonjour de Paris !
Merci beaucoup. Je suis content si ça vous plait. Salutations de la Suisse
Well though out design.
Thank you!
Excellent videos; What angle do you give to the pieces with the saw? Greetings.
Brilliant video, very useful device. How about putting a slot in the third leg, then it could be used to get the height of the table saw blade as well.
Thanks. Yes that is one possibility but if i put it at an angle it will work anyways.
Super
Thanks.
Интересно!
That is very nice.
I think you should patent your design then consider marketing it. I would buy one for sure.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
@@ISIMPLYBUILTIT The Chinese are probably already busy making knock-offs.
I would like to use it with my table saw. I’m finding A difficult to get the right measurement. Cause I have problem in my vision I cannot see that near things properly.
brilliant job, well done.
Thank you!
Love your videos 👍👍 what type of Plywood do you use?
Thanks. Mostly i use birch plywood.
Do you have plans of this gauge available for purchase?
nice job ,I like your storage containers and your slide knife. Could you pass on a source for each?.
Thanks and keep up the great work!
Thanks. The slide knife is the "Maker Knife" from Giaco Whatever : makerknife.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders. I do not know how you can get these containers. My neighbor gave those to me.
@@ISIMPLYBUILTIT Thanks for the info. If you find out from your neighbor please pass it on. Keep up the great videos. Lou
Damit das "Maßband" in der Führung entsprechend leicht fällt empfiehlt es sich mitunter ein hemmendes Federstahlband im Gehäuse zu entfernen.
One of the greater channels, getting tired of all the dovetails
Nice job!... Where do you get your plywood? There is nothing of that quality at our " big Box" stores in the US. I would love to get my hands on plywood of that quality.
Thanks. That's birch plywood bought in switzerland.
You can get baltic birch plywood at Woodcraft stores if you live in the U.S. Or order it online from various sources.
Why you only have 11K is beyond me....
I don't know.
I subbed right after seeing his "simple" kerfmaker. So many others make it a challenge! This guy actually uses his brain!
Great piece , but way to many ads for me
It would be great if you would slow down your video so we can tell what you are doing...some explanation as to the mods you did to the caliper.
I will try to pay attention to it.
I don’t believe this is calibrated anymore after cutting to pieces.
Hi. Do you sell me one ?
Great video absolutely destroyed by ads, I’d like to subscribe but not with so many ads, in fact the knuckleheads that run UA-cam have just about driven me away! A great platform ruined by greedy corporate committees and assorted fools.
Decent prototype for a mass made tool, but why chop up a digital caliper to make one when they cost less then a caliper.
A digital height gadge would do the same thing and you can use that to set planer blades tablesaw blade height and a lot of other uses. And some of them are pretty cheap now.
My height gauges can do exactly what you described. The caliper had his glass broken and one leg was damaged. So it was useless as a normal caliper. More over it had cost me 9 bucks.
Then great way to use the broke tools parts for a new too insted of putting it in the trash.
I seen people taking old dull files and making knifes out of them, a good marking knife would come in handy in the wood shop. I almost never turn down a .50cent tool at a garage sale it's always got a second life as something usefull maybe not what it was but as somthing.
Never throw away carbide scrap. Look up it's current salvage price it's at the top of the list for value. Tool steel also can be a usefull tool as somthing else.
Und warum nicht das Ganze in Schweizer-Deutsch da hättest Du keinen so typischen Akzent
Weil meine ersten Abonnenten englisch sprechend waren. Die würden ja sonst nix verstehen.
Very good idea. But I hate your video. Too much speding-up, not clear what you're doing. I need to play it again at quarter-speed 1 irritating. And your hands are in the way to often. I'ld like to reproduce it, but perhaps there are better videos. Disppointed
This thing is so cheap on Aliexpress and ebay. You have wasted your time.
I don't think so. I built that within 2 hours. I don't think that Aliexpress can deliver so fast to switzerland. And saved some scrap pieces of wood from the trash can.
That's great if you like to buy cheap Chinese junk.
