    As someone who is prepping for a hognose (Ive got all the supplies coming in today and tomorrow), I really appreciate your content. It’s beginner friendly and easy to understand! I’ve owned lizards before, but I have no experience owning a snake, so your beginner friendly content is nice!

    I've had tons of lizards but my first snake, Nope, came today. Besides a quick health check and moving to his baby bin, I've left him alone(staring doesn't count, right?😅). So far, he seems like the most chill dude ever. He's explored every inch of his enclosure and kept popping his head up like a periscope to watch everything going on in the living room. He's already had at least 10 unscented pinkies before shipping but just to be safe, I'm waiting til he takes first meal this weekend before I start handling 😆 just from moving him, he's sooo soft and I never expected that!

    Saw a baby hognose on my driveway last year. I live out in central Texas. I let it crawl on a cardboard box and I set him lose out on the pasture by some trees and rocks. It was a beautiful bright orange with black spots. What is your thought on handling a wild hognose although this was a young one. Are they more skiddish and apt to bite? Just curious; I have some nice pictures of it and it's beautiful color.

    I got a baby hognose snake and every time I try to handle her she literally flies out of my hands I can't even take her out of the enclosure. I put my hand in front of her like you said and she flew over my other hand and then dove into her tank and was flying around like a maniac. I have a ball python who's always liked to be held so I don't know what to do

    I got mine today, I wanted to look inside the box on how he is, if he's okay. He stood up like a cobra out of nowhere, and nearly got out of the box, at that moment I put my hand under him so I can catch him, then he immediately bit my finger, but very slowly. Kinda dumb I have to admit.😅

    What do you recommend doing when you open the enclosure and your baby is aggressive? I just got my first baby and the first time I tried handling her she hissed a lot and did a lot of bluff strikes. Would you try and pick her up anyways or let her be? I just don't want to stress her out too much

    Quick question on this actually! Besides feeding day and 1-2 days after, do you recommend digging out the baby hognose (if it’s buried) to get it’s daily handling in? Or is it just counterproductive to stress out the snake like that?

    • @HogginOut

    Hey!! So we are about a month in, and Winter is eating amazingly!! She is actually showing signs of being hungry about every 4 days. Is that normal? I am the main handler. My daughter wants to wait until she is a little bigger as she does not want to drop. I'm trying to let her know not to worry. Winter will do the hand to hand for a little bit, but now she wraps around my finger and squeezes tight and exploring, it seems. Like she wants to go up my arm!!! I'm not sure if I'm ready for that. I'm doing a little bit of petting, and it doesn't bother her. But sometimes she will just open her mouth at me, no striking. Cracks me up, but I hold her a little bit longer to make sure she is calm before I put her in as I don't reward for whatever that is....what is that?

    I just adopted a very chill juvenile high red het albino boi named Tallahassee.
    I was told to only hold them for no more than 10 minutes once a week when they are young, do you think I can handle him more often than that?

    • @HogginOut
      @HogginOut  3 роки тому +4

      I would hold them once a day for a few mins. The more you hold them, the faster they become easier to handle. Especially if your baby is chill like you stated. ;-)
