My Dad Found A Hognose And Gave it to me Cause he knew I have other reptile pets, and Mom Would kill him if he kept a snake at home😅 but the hognose snake he found wasn't big because it was digesting, She Was Pregnant 😅and All 12 Eggs Hatched ❤just this morning
I agree.. the point was aggressive feeding behavior. meaning... as soon as I feed some of my hognoses.. they strike no matter where they are being feed, aggressively. Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it. Cheers!
i recently picked up a small western hognose and it took its first feeding very well. i was wondering how long it usually takes to see waste(poop) because i have not found any and it has been 4 days

Hey man, love your vids! Currently having trouble with my 7 month old hognose. I got her when she was a couple months old. She ate pinkies like a champ until the last month and a half where she's only eaten once. She is behaving strangley and when i try to feed her she just bluff strikes all over the place and tries to run away. She also does the really upset his where its a really long kinda growly one. I have tried feeding her in a separate small tub with it covered up but she just does the kinda growly hiss and will continue doing it for a long time. Her hot end is around 89f going down to room temp on her cool side. Unfortunately I am in the UK so can't get reptilinks. Any advice would,be great! Have you experienced this kinda behaviour before?
Thanks for the comment.. Please make sure room temp is above 70 degrees fahrenheit. If it's below that.. put her in a tub with a hide and water dish for 1 week in a cool spot below 70 degrees... After 1 week, warm her up to 75 than to 90 degrees over the next 2 days... Then try to feed her, if that doesn't work.. Try to hold her and feed off of tongs like I did in this video. Don't worry.. she will eat eventually.. Let me know how you make out. Cheers!
I recommend it for 60 days, but it’s not needed. Hognose snakes may stop feeding during the winter for a couple months, which mine have done, so I brumate. It’s more natural.
I have a question. I’ve been looking into getting a hognose, but I am squeamish about feeding mice (I know this is an issue because they’re the most common form of food for snakes) I have been looking into repti-links and have heard they can be staple diets, with the frog, plus there meat mixes once the baby is old enough to eat the larger links. I would also add chicken hearts to add another protein source to the diet. Would this be okay? I don’t want to get one if I can’t give it the best care. But I don’t think I can deal with mice!

How long would you recommend leaving the pinkie in the enclosure?
For 12 hrs is fine.

Can take 2-14 days. Check under the substrate too, if you haven't already. Most of the time about 2-4 days though.

When can I change his feeding? As in, how do I know when to feed him more?
Always feed every 3-4 day as baby, up to about 70 grams.. then 1 time a week. hope that helps.

Honestly, got my first hoggie last week and wasn't looking forward to feeding a pinky, it totally was nothing.

They don’t stink, they are frozen. They stay in the freezer, not fridge
