    Can we help them shed with our hands?

    • @HogginOut
      @HogginOut  3 роки тому +4

      Sure, if the humidity is high enough, you should not have to.. BUT.. If they need help, of course.. give them the help they might need, It won't hurt them. The help they need is usually with their head or eyes, but give them some time before giving them help on those areas.

    Ideal video, to the point and simple. Thank you. My hog is shedding for the second time and is taking longer - the first time I was working away for a week to come home to a shed skin in the viv. This time round, she seems to be taking forever. This video has given me some confidence that things are actually going well.

    Have only ever had BPs and was driving myself insane looking for my new baby hognose’s shed since she was in blue all week and suddenly her eyes cleared up but no shed! Super concise video, nice one!

      Once their eyes clear up, it will take another 3-4 days for them to shed.. Don't worry. 😃

    I watch this to see how they shed. I did get my first little one a few days ago. She ate today like a champ and came back to look if I had more for her. She is extremely friendly and I am glad about it because I seen different behaviors.
    I am looking forward to ger first shedding with me as her owner.
    I have a cave with moss I mist down every other day so when she needs the humidity she can crawl in and yeah for helping getting the shed off I have half of a coconut in there

    I have a albino superconda that has been buried for a week it looked like her eyes were a darker shade of red when I seen her last . Just worried and hoping she Is shedding. Is there a point we’re it’s been to long and I should try digging her out to check on her

      Just leave her be... Give it 10 days. She should be ok if she's shedding.

    Will the snake shed all of it's body including it's head all in one?

    Mine isn't shedding. Eats fine. 2 pinkies a week. Was very active, but all of a sudden he has been in the same area for a week. Doesn't leave that area. Not sure what's going on with him, but it's freaking me out.

      He may be going into shed with no signs.. may take a day or two to see some bluish tinted eyes and skin color and belly starting to dull. In other words: Hogs tend to hide in the same spot for a few days before showing signs of shedding. If he's feeding, I wouldn't worry. If you are that worried, I'd take him to the vet to make sure.

    We are finally at the shedding phase! Great video and I believe you answered my question but just to be sure. My hogsnose had the blue eyes but then they went away. She is still shy and when I check on here so talkative. She does the little open mouth huff so I will leave her alone. She won't eat but is it normal for the blue eyes to go away but still have not shed?

    • @HogginOut
      @HogginOut  Рік тому +2

      Yes, after the blue / opaque eyes fade away, she will shed about 3-4 days after that, then she should feed the next day.

    We’ve had our male hognose since October and he hasn’t shed yet, he was born in august. Is that normal?

    • @HogginOut
      @HogginOut  2 роки тому

      Yup.. he should be shedding soon though.. females tend to shed more often then males. Depends on how often they eat and the temps.

      They will most liking feed while in shed... as long as their eyes are not super cloudy.

      @@HogginOut Oh...I didn't even try to feed mine in shed. He usually wiggles around his tank when hungry though so I don't think he would have ate. He's a picky eater as is...so I will just keep waiting...

    How often do the average hognose hatching shed?

      Right after shed, or during shed, after their eyes go from cloudy to clear.
