    I'm a 67 year old woman who never did anything like this before. I normally would have just brought it into the shop, but found your video so I decided I might as well try it on my own. Yay! I just replaced my 2003 Sienna rear door handle, thanks to this great video! Whoot whoo! Thank you!!!

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I've never done anything with a car except drive it, fill it with gas, and check the oil basically, but thanks to you I replaced the handle myself and can open my trunk again! I was so bummed when the back handle broke. This mom of four greatly appreciates the use of the back door! I'm so happy! Thank you for this tutorial!

    I've now had this break twice on my Sienna. The first time, the mechanic charged me for 4 hours of work because they claimed they couldn't open the gate to get at the mechanism. They told me this story where they had to fish a line in to get at the latch release. On this second time, I think I fixed it in about 40 minutes, and with a $12 part. Thanks.

    Thanks for the video. I also replaced my rear handle, my problem is when I reinstall the cable with the ball on the end I put it in correctly and the snap in the cable where it has that small groumnet to hold it in place I test it several times and then after a day or so I can't open it again. I have had to pull the panel off three times and each time the cable keeps popping off the handle. Any suggestions?

    I watched your video after I installed a new all-metal handle from eBay. I found that after I closed the tailgate for a test, I couldn't get it to open again. I tried moving the lock mechanism from the inside but it still won't budge. I see you are monitoring this comment thread. Do you have any ideas? The battery drained during the time I was working on the car (I also replaced the driver's door handle and had my grandson in the van during the work. He turned on the headlights!...) Would the battery drain have anything to do with the locking mechanism? I tried to manually open the lock with my key and felt resistance when trying to do it.
    Thanks for your video! It is clear and helpful with good closeups!

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 років тому

      High Desert Tennis Association if the door lock doesn't work with the Remote button the actuator itself could be bad or unplugged. But if it doesn't open with the handle and the key then there's something is misadjusted or something is causing it to bind and stick. So you're going to need to pull that back panel back off and try to get in there with a flashlight and look around to see what's causing it. It could be the part itself. But like I said if it doesn't unlock with the remote key button then then check the servo motor. The servomotor maybe build into the latch itself not the handle. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
