Gosh! I wish I’d seen this exact video a month ago when I tried to make this exact fix. I gave up and threw the whole thing away and purchased a new one! Thanks so much for all your knowledge and great fixes, Dean.
He actually replaced a chuck on that same model on 8th of September 2023. Going to Dean channel page and search options would save you buying new drill.
@@michaelfairchild thanks. It didn’t even occur to me to check that far back. I actually replaced it with an impact driver which I needed worse. But, yes, I’ll check older playlists next time for sure. Thank you!
Another silent video? 1:17 I prefer your commentary. For the simple reason I'm really interested in the things you are doing and the name of the replacement parts
I realy like how you use a power drill to fix a power drill and NO TALKING, great job. If you are a regular diy guy you dont need any explanotion on what is being done, Im Dean too. I owe you a beer.
Mines going. , thousand holes in concrete at least and doesn't like to let go of the drill bit. Where i live there is no Dean so if the time to rebuild is longer than what i earn then i just buy new. Planned obsolescence. They're trying to replace me also but that tool hasn't been invented yet.😅
I had ones couple of months ago that the chuck locked up on someone while in use, so gave it to me for scrap. I brought it to work and one of my coworkers heated the chuck up with a mapp gas torch and applied some oil. He put the chuck end of the dr ill in a bench vise, and was able to free it. Gave it back to the person who gave it to me in the first place, who was surprised it could even be fixed. I was even surprised that I didn't have to replace the chuck.
Dean, I’m an ex motor engineer, I watched your video on Milwaukee recip 18v saw, my mates was seized up and with your help I stripped it and sorted, I’m now keen fan of your channel and i’ve watched hours of your videos. Thank you.
I found an easier way to remove chuck: I put a vicegrip on bottom of chuck and hitted down with a hammer a few times and came off within a couple minutes.
Before I ever buy another Dewalt combi drill again I'd require the supplier to remove the chuck. The torque applied by some manufacturers is excessive and just causes unnecessary problems for user, especially when the chuck supplied is not the best quality and will need replacing.
Oh Dean, please can you tell me what is that socket you using to hold the spindle back? My chuck is seized solid. Thanks. Love your videos. Learned a lot through them.
Dean, whats your thoughts on draper breakers? Recently purchased second hand one 240v but keen to know how to service it. If you ever get one in i'll be sure to watch. Loving the videos keep up the great work 👍
@@zaxmaxlax I can't speak to all his videos as I have not watched all his videos. However, I would like to think that if he had a reason to use an angle grinder, it was a valid reason. I have no reason to think otherwise.
@@CrookedSkew The funny thing is that he always used the grinder because it was faster and safer on the gearbox, but then I asked him about the proper way and now he only does it by clamping the spindle on a vise, which takes way longer to do but its arguably the best method.
Ok, is there rubber gasket on top of the drive in the shaft and washer plate, mine has that and I think 11 mm won’t fit and 13 is too big but a 12 won’t fit either
Hey nice videos you are a huge to us fixers I have a new dcd709 and its making some noisewhen i tilt it and it happens after i switch from 2 to speed 1. What could be the problem? The store i bought it from says its normal drill sound 🤷🏻♂️. I have jave a video on my channel I'll appreciate it if you take a look
There is a company here in the US that makes the OE lubricant for most if not all power tool manufacturers gearboxes. I was thinking of sending you a container of it if you would like it. Nye lubricants
Hi Dean I’ve watching your videos for a while I really like the way you make things look so easy to fix in minutes. I have Paslode im350/90/ct nail gun I have cleaned it up properly and it’s got spark but when I go shot no nails come out but the nail pusher comes out. Could you help please what I’m doing wrong

Thanks have not done one of these yet but I just got a 996 dead as a doornail to look at. Helpful. Thanks!
Excellent !!! The 796 is a good drill, and this one will live on for another day.

Mine did that. Then worked for 5 years no issues still works great 18v with adapter to 20v its an oldie but a goodie
No center screw in the new chuck?
No. Different design on certain models. Pain in the ***.
Maybe if people just read or found out how to actual lock these chucks it might go a long way and Makita has the same problem.

ITS actualy the meshing part of that spindle taken of a broken drill and fitted into a socket
Nice 👍 thanks bro 😎

Why did you stop cutting the chuck with a grinder?
Probably because there was no need since at 01:38 the bolt holding the chuck gave way.
@@CrookedSkewOnly because he's doing the "proper" way. He used to cut off the chuck with a grinder on all dewalt and makita drills.

Ha I read that as faulty clutch no wonder I couldn’t work out what was going on. Very complicated inside isn’t it?
Ok thanks kyou Boss
